Plan ahead for delicious dining experiences during your stay.

When to Book Guests may make advance dining reservations at select restaurants.

  • Guests with a Valid Disney Resort Hotel Reservation: Make reservations for your entire length of stay (for up to a 10-night stay) up to 60 days in advance of your arrival! This can help you enjoy streamlined vacation planning , since you can make all your reservations on the same day—rather than checking availability day after day.
  • All Other Guests: Make reservations up to 60 days in advance.

Explore dining experiences available for booking during your vacation.

Dining in the Theme Parks To dine at an in-park, table-service restaurant, you need a confirmed dining reservation for the total number of Guests—regardless of age—along with a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on that same date for each Guest ages 3 and up.

Dining reservations do not guarantee access to a park, and Park Hopper availability may change daily. We recommend that Guests book in-park dining at the park where they have a park reservation.

Disney World Character Dining 2024: Every Disney World Character Meal By Location

If you add up every option from all four theme parks plus Disney World resorts, there are almost a dozen Disney World character meals. Choose the right Disney World character dining experience for your group using our review of every Disney World character meal available in 2024.

Disney World Character Dining At Theme Parks:

  • Animal Kingdom
  • Hollywood Studios
  • Magic Kingdom

Disney World Character Dining At Resorts:

  • Contemporary
  • Four Seasons Resort Orlando
  • NEW! Disney’s Grand Floridian
  • Disney’s Riviera Resort
  • Wilderness Lodge

Animal Kingdom Character Dining

Tusker house.

Donald Duck sits at our table chatting with us during a Tusker House character meal

Hidden behind Dawa Bar in the Africa area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom is Tusker House. Tusker House hosts fan favorite characters Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Mickey in a large marketplace themed restaurant.

The breakfast buffet features traditional breakfast staples like scrambled eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes and a twist with Simba and Nala waffles instead of the usual Mickey waffles.

Lunch and dinner at Tusker House has lots of ethnic inspired foods like curries and samosas plus items like spit roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn dogs for less adventurous eaters.

The characters do a great job of moving through the Tusker House dining rooms and interacting with guests. Although the tables are closer than I like at a character meal, each of the characters are consistently fun and silly with us.

We adore the styling and detail of the safari themed outfits for Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Mickey plus the large variety of foods at Tusker House. Tusker House is an underrated character meal with several popular classic characters, and we always enjoy our experience here.

Find a full review of the Tusker House character meal here.

Epcot Character Dining

Akershus royal banquet hall.

Snow White smiles as waves as the walks around Akershus Royal Baquet Hall at Epcot

Do you have a princess fan in your group? Then Akershus should be on your character meal bucket list.

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall usually has Belle, Aurora, Snow White, Tiana, and Ariel rotating through the large restaurant. However, characters are always subject to change and other princesses sometimes sub in during the day.

Enjoy a three course family style meal at Akershus with a variety of traditional Norwegian options. Although the menu may not look family friendly many of the dishes are simple enough to appeal to different tastes.

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is a great choice for meeting several princesses during a single character meal. The lighting is a bit dim for photos, but the character interactions are really sweet.

Find a full review of Akershus Royal Banquet Hall here.

Garden Grill

Pluto leans in close to the camera during Chip 'n' Dale's Harvest Feast

Epcot’s Garden Grill hosts Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Harvest Feast meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Garden Grill is in the Land Pavilion and overlooks the Living With The Land attraction.

Meet Chip, Dale, Mickey Mouse, and Pluto over the course of your family-style meal. Breakfast is always a good character meal option, but we think the quality of lunch and dinner at Garden Grill has gotten very good. On our most recent visit our three course meal was delicious and timed perfectly with our character interactions.

Garden Grill’s Chip ‘N’ Dale’s Harvest Feast is a fun character meal option for those who are big Chip and Dale fans or those who want a chance to meet Mickey and Pluto, but aren’t able to get a reservation at Chef Mickey’s , Tusker House , or Topolino’s Terrace .

Find a full review of Chip ‘N’ Dale’s Harvest Feast here.

Hollywood Studios Character Dining

Disney junior play ‘n’ dine (breakfast).

With over a dozen Disney World character meals it's hard to choose. We're reviewing all Disney World character dining to help you find the perfect one! #disneyworld #disneycharacters #charactermeal

Hollywood and Vine features two different character dining experiences, Disney Junior Play ‘n’ Dine (breakfast) and Minnie’s Seasonal Dining (lunch and dinner). The all-you-can-eat buffet has a wide variety of foods and is great for picky eaters, both young and old.

If you have a child who loves Disney Junior, this character meal is perfect. Meeting these characters is relatively rare outside of this option and only available at Hollywood Studios by waiting in several lines.

Find a full review of the Hollywood and Vine meal here.

Minnie’s Seasonal Dining (Lunch and Dinner)

With over a dozen Disney World character meals it's hard to choose. We're reviewing all Disney World character dining to help you find the perfect one! #disneyworld #disneycharacters #charactermeal

Minnie’s Seasonal Dining is a rotating seasonal themed character meal in Hollywood Studios. Each season brings a whole new adorable wardrobe to classic Disney friends. We first visited Minnie’s Holiday Dine as part of a Disney World Christmas season trip.

Minnie, Mickey, Daisy, and Donald rotate through the restaurant stopping to visit each table. Santa Goofy meets guests near a special backdrop with a PhotoPass photographer. Each of our character interactions were very good and silly or sweet depending on the character.

The two regular buffet lines offer lots of fruit, salads, breads, meats, pastas, and sides for your meal, but overall the food is unremarkable. The kids buffet line has the usual corn dogs, mac and cheese, and steamed vegetables.

The characters at Minnie’s Seasonal Dining made for an incredible experience despite the mediocre food. If you care about meeting characters in fun themed outfits, like Goofy in a Santa suit, and don’t mind mediocre food then I recommend making reservations for Minnie’s Seasonal Dining.

Find a full review of the Hollywood and Vine Minnie’s Seasonal Dining meal here.

Magic Kingdom Character Dining

Cinderella’s royal table.

A girl listens closely as Cinderella smiles and chats with her at Cinderella's Royal Table

Cinderella’s Royal Table is usually tied with Chef Mickey’s or Topolino’s Terrace as the most sought after Disney World character dining experience. The combination of eating inside Cinderella’s castle and meeting several Disney princesses makes people clamor for this reservation.

When entering the castle there is a small line to meet Cinderella. She has a lovely backdrop for photos and a PhotoPass photographer available to take your picture.

After meeting Cinderella, climb a spiral staircase lined with stained glass windows to reach the restaurant. There is also a small elevator for those with mobility concerns.

Children, and adults, receive two small gifts when you are seated: a wishing star and either a wand for girls or a sword for boys. These gifts are used during a wishing ceremony.

Breakfast is two courses, a pastry basket and entree. Lunch and dinner are three-course meals with a choice of appetizer, main course, and dessert.

Throughout your meal, royal announcements introduce each visiting princess before she makes her way around the dining room. We have generally seen Cinderella, Ariel, Snow White, Jasmine, and Sleeping Beauty at Cinderella’s Royal Table although exact characters are subject to change.

Cinderella’s Royal Table has always been a favorite meal of ours, because we love the ambiance of the dining room of Cinderella’s castle. We have also had quality princess interactions at this meal, too.

The main drawback of Cinderella’s Royal Table is the price. It is expensive and requires pre-payment in full at the time of booking.

Find a full review of Cinderella’s Royal Table here .

The Crystal Palace

A woman smiles at Eeyore at The Crystal Palace Winnie the Pooh and friends character meal

Have breakfast, lunch, or dinner with Winnie the Pooh and friends at The Crystal Palace. This large greenhouse inspired location serves a buffet where guests meet Piglet, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore.

Cast members should help you time buffet runs to avoid missing characters, but still budget at least 90 minutes to meet all the characters at The Crystal Palace.

While the food was unremarkable, we enjoyed the character interactions more than expected.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort Character Dining

Cape may cafe.

Minnie Mouse admires a woman's manicure at Cape May Cafe character breakfast

Disney’s Beach Club Resort hosts Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast each morning. Meet Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Daisy, and Donald Duck in cute beach attire while you dine during a Cape May Cafe breakfast.

The breakfast buffet is large and offers a lot of choices from breakfast meats, eggs, various toasts and pastries, to the iconic Mickey waffle. The chef at Cape May Cafe did an excellent job accommodating Elizabeth’s food allergy, and she ate a ridiculous amount of breakfast.

We think Cape May Cafe breakfast with Minnie and friends is a great Disney World character breakfast option. If you are staying at the Beach Club , Yacht Club , or Boardwalk Hotel this breakfast is within walking distance and a fun way to start your day.

If you are staying elsewhere it can still be a good choice for your Epcot park day. Cape May Cafe is only a few minutes walk from Epcot’s International Gateway entrance.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Character Dining

1900 park fare.

After what felt like forever 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian finally reopens April 10, 2024. Expect a new mix of characters at 1900 Park Fare with Cinderella, Aladdin as Prince Ali, Tiana in her new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure garb, and Mirabel mingling with guests.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast or dinner buffet in a lovingly updated dining room that honors the original carousel theme, but with some adorable new additions.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort Character Dining

Chef mickey’s.

With over a dozen Disney World character meals it's hard to choose. We're reviewing all Disney World character dining to help you find the perfect one! #disneyworld #disneycharacters #charactermeal

We love the character meal at Chef Mickey’s restaurant. I mean what could be more iconic than eating a meal with the Fab 5 – Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Donald Duck, and Goofy!

Chef Mickey’s is a buffet restaurant with breakfast served from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm and dinner from 5 pm until 9:30 pm.

Once seated, help yourself to the extensive buffet, which includes the famous Mickey waffles (breakfast), macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets for the little ones (dinner) and more grown up fare like salads, a carving station and peel and eat shrimp (dinner).

A Chef Mickey’s meal ends with a trip to the dessert station. Donuts and pastries for breakfast, while cakes and make your own sundaes are perfect after dinner. I also like that at each meal there is fresh fruit available. You can check out more of the menus here .

Meet Minnie outside the restaurant before your meal. Then as you dine, the other characters make their way around to each table.

By the end of the meal, you will have had a chance to meet all five characters and take pictures. Periodically, the characters will come out to the dining room and do a little dance, getting the crowd up and dancing.

Disney’s Polynesian Resort Character Dining

With over a dozen Disney World character meals it's hard to choose. We're reviewing all Disney World character dining to help you find the perfect one! #disneyworld #disneycharacters #charactermeal

‘Ohana is a character breakfast located at the Polynesian Resort at Walt Disney World. When you arrive, you are greeted with an Aloha and ‘Ohana. The ‘Ohana character breakfast is inspired by the Disney animated movie Lilo and Stitch. During the movie they always go back to ‘Ohana because ‘Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten. This family message is one of the things I love about the ‘Ohana breakfast.

One of the great things about this breakfast is that it is served family style and is unlimited. This means they bring everything to your table and as you need more they will refill. The breakfast included eggs, sausage, fruit, Mickey and Stitch waffles, fried potatoes, pastries, and Stitch juice. The juice is unique to ‘Ohana and was a favorite by all of us!

During the meal Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, and Pluto visit your table for autographs and photos. Be prepared for mischief when Stitch comes to your table. He is playful and silly, the kids and all the adults with us had a fun time with him. They also have a character parade your family can participate in that goes around the dining area.

Disney’s Riviera Resort Character Dining

Breakfast à la art with mickey & friends.

Daisy Duck sashays in a bright teal wrap top and bright pink tutu at Topolino's Terrace character breakfast

Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck dressed in adorable art inspired clothes mingle with guests at Topolino’s Terrace. Stunning views from the floor to ceiling windows provide character meal ambiance unlike anywhere else in Disney World, except Cinderella’s Royal Table .

A delicious pastry basket followed by a gorgeously plated breakfast makes Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends an elevated character meal. The atmosphere, views, costumes, and food are wonderful, but our character interactions here haven’t been as over the top as places like Tusker House .

Find out more about Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends here.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Character Dining

Storybook dining at artist point with snow white.

Be whisked away to the Enchanted Forest when you enter Artist Point at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. A fun assortment of characters and an excellent meal await you in this special forest.

Storybook Dining at Artist Point is a 3 course character meal. There are three shared appetizers, an individual main course, and then four shared dessert options. The appetizers and entrees are some of the best character meal food we have ever eaten. Dessert is fine, but disappointing after the amazing cocktails, appetizers, and entrees.

Meet four characters at Storybook Dining at Artist Point With Snow White. Dopey, Grumpy, and Snow White come to each table during the meal.

Unsurprisingly, The Queen requires you to come to her. She has a separate meeting spot in the center of the restaurant and you’re given a special card when it’s your turn to approach her.

Here’s everything you need to know about Storybook Dining with Snow White at Artists Point.

Four Seasons Resort Character Dining

Good morning breakfast with goofy and his pals.

Many people don’t know that there is a Four Seasons Resort in the Golden Oaks area of Disney World, which is a high-end subdivision with gorgeous homes.

The resort hosts a breakfast on select mornings featuring Goofy and friends. Sometimes you can even see Mickey and Minnie Mouse at this breakfast, although this information is not publicized.

Find out more more about Good Morning Breakfast with Goofy and His Pals.

REVIEW: Ale & Compass Breakfast at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

by Tatjana Lazar | Oct 15, 2021 | Walt Disney World Food , Walt Disney World Resorts

Keep reading for our honest review of Ale & Compass at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

Looking for something a little bit more elevated than your run-of-the-mill Mickey waffles? Breakfast at Ale & Compass gives you comfort foods with a touch of New England charm.

Seaworthy Dishes For The Disney Adventurer

Nestled inside Disney’s Yacht Club Resort , you’ll find a cozy little table-service restaurant themed to remind you of the inside of a lighthouse.

While the interior décor didn’t necessarily give me light house vibes, the dark blue tones and minimal windows were a cool escape from the heat of the Florida sun, and were a perfect extension of the Yacht Club’s nautical aesthetic.

The dinner menu is loaded with some typical New England dishes like clam chowder and seafood pot pie, but on this visit we were here for a hearty breakfast, and we were not disappointed!

Ale & Compass Breakfast Menu

Blueberry-Bacon Pancakes. Courtesy of Disney

You can find the usual American Breakfast of two eggs served with potatoes and choice of bacon or sausage on the Ale & Compass breakfast menu, but I highly recommend trying something a little different.

The Blueberry-Bacon Pancakes are an ever-popular item, and the Dark Chocolate Waffle with cherry compote and espresso mascarpone looked to die for. The salted caramel apple French toast is another winning item on the sweet side of the menu.

However, on this visit, we opted for the more savory items. I went for the Bacon and Vermont Cheddar Burger, while my husband tried the Crab Cake Benedict.

Ale & Compass also has some nice fruit and vegetable juices, smoothies, Joffrey’s coffee and an assortment of teas on their breakfast menu. I decided to try the Tropical Green Smoothie to balance out the truffle fries I had ordered with my burger.

Ale & Compass Menu Review

Tropical green smoothie.

Tropical Green Smoothie. Photo by Tajana Lazar

The first item to hit our table was my Tropical Green Smoothie, and while the flavor was quite nice, the texture could have been better.

In a good green smoothie, you can’t taste the greens, and in that respect this smoothie was a winner. The tropical fruit flavors were sweet, tangy, refreshing and definitely hid any grassy green taste that can sometimes overpower a green smoothie.

Where it fell short was the texture. For me, a good smoothie is thick and smooth. This smoothie was a little bit on the watery side, and was not blended smoothly enough. I could feel the little gritty bits of what could have been some sort of leafy green or celery. I think next time I’d opt for the fresh squeezed orange juice instead.

Bacon and Vermont Cheddar Burger

If the fact that I ordered a burger for breakfast seems a little odd to you, consider this 11am breakfast reservation as more of a brunch, or early lunch and it should seem more sensible.

Either way, I would order this burger again and again for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was just that good.

The burger patty itself was thick and cooked to juicy, tender perfection. The bacon and cheddar cheese added a nice salty touch to each messy bite. It was a seriously good burger.

I opted for the Truffle Fries with Roasted Shallot Mayonnaise as my side, and these were also absolutely delicious. These thin cut fries are crispy, salty, and have just a touch of that truffle flavor to kick everything up a notch in terms of flavor.

Crab Cake Benedict

Crab Cake Benedict. Photo by Tajana Lazar

This was my husband’s dish, and I was a little too focused on my burger to taste it. But I will say that my husband is a big fan of both seafood and eggs benedict, and while this combo may seem a little “out there” he gobbled up every morsel.

This meal was a definite winner in our books and we’ll absolutely be back to try a few more menu items.

What to Know About Dining at Ale & Compass

If you’re interested in trying out this Yacht Club restaurant for breakfast or dinner, I highly recommend getting an Advanced Dining Reservation (ADR) for it ahead of time.

The restaurant itself is not that large, and it’s one of the more convenient spots to eat for Yacht Club guests, so it fills up very quickly. Luckily, ADRs for Ale & Compass aren’t that difficult to get, so you shouldn’t have much trouble snagging one in the weeks leading up to your trip.

If you’re dining with kids, or less adventurous eaters, have no fear! There’s both a kids menu and more simplified menu items for picky eaters. Plus, Disney Cast Members will be happy to help accommodate any dietary restrictions if needed. And don’t worry about wearing a button down and close-toed shoes. This is a casual establishment that will be happy to welcome you in flip flops and tank tops.

What’s your favorite menu item at Ale & Compass? Visit the WDW Magazine Facebook page and tell us what you’ll be ordering during your next stay at Disney’s Yacht Club!

Cape May Café Character Breakfast Review

yacht club character breakfast

Cape May Café is located in Disney’s Beach Club Resort at Walt Disney World. This post reviews the all-you-can-eat Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast, which features Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy, and of course, Minnie Mouse. Here, we’ll share thoughts on whether this character meal is worth the money, and provide thoughts on food and character interactions. ( Last updated June 17, 2018 .)

As noted, Cape May Café serves all-you-care-to-eat buffet cuisine in an airy oceanside atmosphere at Beach Club Resort. Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast participates in the Disney Dining Plan . It also accepts the Tables in Wonderland card for a 20% discount . Like most character breakfasts, it’s not a good value on the Disney Dining Plan , but it’s not a terrible value, either, especially with kids.

Minnie Mouse and “and her friends” which are almost always Goofy, Donald, and Daisy Duck (although that’s advertised as being “subject to change”) meet and greet guests during this Disney Character Dining experience, which serves a variety of breakfast favorites, including Mickey Waffles, a fresh fruit and yogurt bar, fresh-baked pastries, breakfast pizza, biscuits and gravy, and other options.

We’ve visited Cape May Café a few times, including on our honeymoon when we stayed at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort . We first began dining here out of necessity, because we wanted to do a character meal but couldn’t grab reservations anywhere else.

Since, we’ve found that it’s one of the best character meals on Walt Disney World property, with great breakfast food variety, fun costumes for characters we like, and a lack of crowds as compared to more popular options like Chef Mickey’s or ‘Ohana (or literally anything in-park).

yacht club character breakfast

Like the rest of Disney’s Beach Club Resort, the ambiance and atmosphere at Cape May Café is nice. Pastel-colored umbrellas, beach chairs, and croquette clubs decorate the restaurant.

These really set the mood nicely for the meal, although some of the window-facing ones appeared a bit sun-faded. Obviously a very minor observation, but for the prices charged, Beach Club should always be in tip-top shape.

yacht club character breakfast

Another nice element of the ambiance (in a way) is that Cape May Café is tucked away and often is far less busy than popular locations like Chef Mickey’s.

Characters spend more time with guests, there are shorter waits to be seated, and the buffets in general aren’t as busy. At least on the occasions when we’ve gone. During the free dining promotion, it’s probably much busier.

yacht club character breakfast

When we first started dining at Cape May Café, the restaurant featured Minnie, Goofy, Chip, and Dale all dressed in very cool swimsuits. Unfortunately, Chip and Dale are no longer regulars–perhaps because it was ecologically-improbable to find chipmunks at the beach? (Then again, whatever kind of half-man, half-dog creature Goofy is is also illogical if you want to break it down!)

As of Summer 2018, Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast now features Goofy, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy. Donald’s costume is awesome (possibly the best of the bunch), and Daisy is likewise a solid addition, so it’s tough to get too worked up over the loss of Chip & Dale.

yacht club character breakfast

Luckily, the breakfast has remained as excellent-as-ever over the years. Cape May Cafe has quite possibly the most extensive character breakfast menu of all character breakfasts, with ~44 items on the menu!

The buffet is divided into a cold bar, hot bar, yogurt bar, and dessert bar. There truly are too many items to name, but some of my favorites include the Biscuits with Home-style Sausage Gravy, Bacon Gruyère Casserole, Mickey Waffles, Breakfast Potatoes, sausage, and bacon.

As you can tell, I don’t mess around at Cape May Café–I order mostly meats and other delicious (and unhealthy) hot-items. Let someone else have all the bananas and oatmeal!

yacht club character breakfast

At various times, Cape May Café has also offered a breakfast pizza. I don’t want to fixate on this too long, because it’s not always available, but if it is there, make sure to try it. It’s incredible. A genius combination of cheese and egg and “other stuff” that is absolutely not to be missed. I know the description (and even the concept) may sound suspect, but few things in this world beat a good Cape May Cafe breakfast pizza.

The other breakfast items aren’t too shabby, either. There’s the Disney breakfast standby, the Mickey Waffles, along with some other more unique items like the Bacon Casserole and Breakfast Potatoes. These have always been great when we’ve tried them, never cold or “old” tasting, even when we’ve gone on days that Cape May Café hasn’t been overly-busy. I am not too high on breakfast at Disney regardless of where it is, but the options at Cape May Cafe are definitely solid.

yacht club character breakfast

Overall, Cape May Café is a great option for breakfast, regardless of whether you have kids. At nearly $30, it’s rather pricey for breakfast (a dinner clambake is a non-character alternative), but this is par for the course with character meals. It’s difficult to ding it too much for the price since it is in line with other locations, but at the same time, we always do find ourselves with a bit of “sticker shock” when we receive the bill, and I think Disney typically does not do breakfast nearly as well as other meals (for comparison’s sake, we typically pay less when we dine at Beaches & Cream for dinner, even when we order decadent ice cream treats–and we usually leave both restaurants about equally full).

Luckily you can eat as much as you want, so make sure to stick around for a while so you get your money’s worth. That said, the food is excellent, the characters are fun, and it’s always nice to head over to Disney’s Beach Club Resort. It’s one of our favorite character breakfasts thanks to its mix of food, characters, and crowds. If a character breakfast with fab five characters in awesome costumes is what you want, this is the meal for you. Plus, it’s a short walk to Epcot, so you can easily hit the parks after your meal!

Review is still accurate. Pricey but good breakfast buffet with characters. 2 year old had a blast on 6 July 2023. Same four characters but different costumes from your pictures.

Does Cape May have a breakfast buffet without characters?

' src=

They don’t. There is a character free breakfast buffet at Ale & Compass next door at Yacht Club.

In short, however, Disney's Beach Club resort is located in the EPCOT resort area right on the waters of Crescent Lake. How to Book Cape May Café Reservation

Restaurant Logo

Cape May Café is a trendy restaurant, so you'll want to be sure you snag a reservation as early as possible. While our review reflects the character experience, it is also open for dinner. Breakfast is served from 7:30-11:30 am and dinner from 5:00-9:00 pm. If you're curious about other character breakfasts, we have all you need to know in our Disney World character dining guide.

If you don't get a reservation right away, don't panic! Reservations open up regularly, so be persistent and check the My Disney Experience app regularly. You can get lucky and find a reservation that meets your needs! From our experience, the character breakfast is usually more challenging to book, so keep that in mind while planning. Note that the characters do not come out during the dinner service.

Pricing, as with all character meals, is certainly not inexpensive. Breakfast prices are as follows:

  • $47 per adult, plus taxes and gratuity
  • $30 per child, plus taxes and gratuity

For dinner, prices are as follows:

  • $27 per child, plus taxes and gratuity

Cape May Café Restaurant Vibe

yacht club character breakfast

The restaurant is located just off the lobby and showcases a soft color palette with soothing beach vibes. You can expect to see many soft whites, creams, and coral colors. You'll also notice many beach touches and nods to a turn-0f-the-century coastal resort. While it's not the biggest restaurant, it is undoubtedly decently sized, with many seating options for small and large parties. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the recently refreshed colors and decor.

Cape May Café Review - booth

The restaurant comprises one large general seating area with the main buffet in the center. However, a small overflow room is located just behind the hostess area. While the decor is just as lovely in there, it does feel a bit tucked away and removed from the action, so if that is a problem for you, it's fair to request a seat in the main dining area.

Cape May Café Review - buffet

Upon entering, you'll also notice a make-your-own omelet station. This was a nice perk, and the lines were never too long. They offered lots of toppings and mix-ins, so make the perfect omelet!

Cape May Café Review: Meal Experience

Upon arriving at your table, you'll find an adorable keepsake postcard with all the characters you'll meet during the experience. We find touches like this lovely, especially given the hefty price tag!

Cape May Café Review - postcard

You can choose from various beverages, including coffee, orange juice, milk, and guava juice. If you're a fan of ‘Ohana, you'll instantly recognize that the guava juice is also the Pog juice from that restaurant!

We also need to mention the famous Salted Caramel “Beach Buns.” These were brought out to the table right away and were delicious! They're served with a warm vanilla sauce that oozes down the yummy bread. Once we had a bite, we knew it would be hard to resist!

Cape May Café Review - bread

The waiter clarified that you won't have to worry about getting up to go and meet any of the characters. Instead, she explained that the characters would make regular rounds and go to each table. While you hear this a lot for character meals, we were pleasantly surprised that this was indeed the case. All of the characters made sure to get to each table. More on that later!

Cape May Café Food Review

Let's talk food! After all, this is still a meal, and while we were excited about the characters, we were also hungry and were looking forward to a filling meal before hitting the parks.

Cape May Café is a buffet-style restaurant that allows you to eat all you care to enjoy. When you look online, you won't find the menus too helpful as buffet selections can change, but it does give you an idea. The breakfast menu can be found here, and dinner here .

We found the offerings to be plenty. Since it was a breakfast service, we anticipated the usual eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. However, we were also happy to see a fruit and yogurt bar and some unique breakfast options, such as breakfast tacos and crêpes!

Enjoy the sights of the buffet!

And lastly, yes, there were Mickey and Minnie waffles! We may have eaten more than we care to share, but they were so good and always fresh! Upon seating, the syrup was brought to the table, so you never went without it.

Now for the quality and taste. Did we find that the food was good? Yes! Again, breakfast options only go so far, but the food was delicious. All the options were fresh and warm and did not feel like they had been sitting for a while. We noticed that the serving platters were turned regularly, which helped keep it tasting fresh.

Drinks were also refilled very quickly! They are also all you care to enjoy, so it was nice not to have to worry about rationing any of that delicious guava juice!

We did not try the omelet station, but the smells from the station were delicious and popular. This leads us to believe that they were just as good. We did not have enough space in the tummy after those mickey waffles!

Cape May Café Review Disney Characters

Alright, now for the fun! This is a character experience, after all. After being seated, the first character only took about 15 minutes to reach our table. Up first, we met Donald Duck! Dressed in his beach attire, he was fun to interact with and happy to pose for pictures!

Donald Duck

Honestly, this is where we felt the magic. We noticed that not once did any of the characters feel rushed. Each time, we decided when it was time for them to move on after pictures and some fun “conversation.” We've experienced other character experiences that felt rushed, so this was a refreshing pace.

Up next, Minnie made her way over to us! This was when we noticed all the characters wore the outfits we first saw in the souvenir postcard waiting at our table. We had a lot of fun seeing the looks come to life before us! Minnie was a lot of fun and also spent plenty of time at our table and posed for as many pictures as we wanted.

Minnie Mouse Disney World

Daisy soon followed, and we also had much fun with her. It's neat to see their different personalities come out and compare how they engaged with us. We found Daisy to be very playful and a bit spicy!

Daisy Duck at Disney World

They might have saved the best for last. Our last meeting was with Goofy! Once we got over how tall(!) he was, we had a great time with him. Goofy is such a character and really knows how to start the party! After he chatted with us and took many photos, we saw him create a “surfing” party with the little ones. Music was cued, and seeing the young at heart showing off their imaginary surf skills was adorable!

Goofy at Disney World

We appreciated the constant but well-timed flow of meet and greets. In just about an hour, we met all the characters and enjoyed a great meal. We had about 10 minutes or so between each character interaction, so we also never felt that we needed to eat quickly. Considering that neither of the characters had cast members guiding them, we were impressed with the easy flow!

Cape May Café Review: Was it Worth it?

Crepes and desserts

This one is easy. We give this a firm yes! The Cape May Café character breakfast is definitely worth it. Not only do you get to enjoy a wonderful meal, but you cannot beat the opportunity to meet lots of your favorite Disney pals. This alone is so worth it, considering that you can sometimes wait hours in line to meet the fun pals. This is how we can easily see that this experience gives you lots of bang for your buck.

We also must say that if you happen to be staying at the resort, it's incredibly convenient to walk down into the lobby and enjoy a wonderful meal. While no one we saw was in pajamas, we definitely saw some hotel guests come down in their comfy outfits! It's also convenient not to travel far for a meal before hitting the park. In this case, given its proximity to EPCOT, it's the perfect meal.

Overall, we were incredibly pleased with our experience and recommend it!

Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast at Cape May Cafe review: is it worth it?

Beach, please! If you’ve ever wanted to meet Minnie and some of her friends in beach attire, you can do just that at Disney’s Beach Club Resort .

Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast is a character breakfast buffet at Cape May Cafe , which has all of the vibes of a New England beach vacation.

While dinner is also served here, you can only meet characters during breakfast . Both meals are served buffet-style. Breakfast features classic American-style dishes, along with the chance to pose with Minnie, Daisy, Goofy, and Donald in their beachy best.

Character meals are always popular dining reservations – especially Cape May, since this one is within walking distance of Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

Reservations for all the restaurants at Disney World currently open up exactly 60 days in advance  — and you should book dining as soon as you can (which is what we did).

What’s included at Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast

Let’s take a look at what’s included at a Cape May Cafe breakfast…

Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast all-you-can-eat buffet includes:

  • Starters (for breakfast that is primarily pastries)
  • Entrées
  • Kid’s offerings
  • Beverages (all alcoholic drinks cost extra)

You meet classic Disney characters in beach-inspired costumes . They all sign autographs AND we were given a cute little autograph card, too!

Character Interactions

What makes Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast so fun is you can meet characters in beach attire! We love themed costumes and these are some of the cutest on property. We feel like we say that at every meal BUT, these really are cute, we promise.

Here’s who you get to meet:

Cape may cafe minnie

The characters definitely came in waves, and we made the mistake of getting up to grab some refills and wound up missing Donald, but don’t worry, we didn’t have to wait long for him to come back around. Tip: if this happens to you, and you need to leave, let your server know, and they can sometimes work a little magic to get the character back to you faster .

Minnie, of course, is the star of the show, but Daisy hung out and did a little photoshoot that was absolutely adorable:

Daisy cape may cafe

Other than Daisy, the character interaction was just “fine”. We managed to snap some cute pics, but overall, we felt like the character interactions were a bit rushed. Maybe it was just an off day?

Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast food and drinks

A buffet is served for breakfast at Cape May Cafe.

Here’s what was included in the breakfast buffet during our visit to Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast on July 26, 2023 (keep in mind that menus and prices change, so the following may not always be the same) .

Before you hit the buffet, your server brings you an order of Salted Caramel “Beach Buns” served with vanilla cream:

The Main Buffet Line

There is a decent selection of both traditional breakfast foods along with some heavier entrées that are more in the “brunch” category.

Of course, there are breakfast pastries, including croissants and muffins. Pro-tip: don’t fill up too much on the bread so that you can save room for all the other good stuff.

Plus you’ll find scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon, and sausage:

cafe may cafe minnie's beach bash breakfast buffet line

And even carved ham – this was a nice touch and a bit of a surprise. The ham was juicy and flavorful and the perfect compliment for breakfast:

cafe may cafe minnie's beach bash breakfast buffet carved ham

There are also classic breakfast dishes like cheddar biscuits and gravy (this was just okay), grits (not our favorite), chocolate chip pancakes (these were seriously so good!).

There were also some crêpes, which were a disappointment, to be honest. We love a good crêpe, but these were a bit rubbery and lacked flavor.

cafe may cafe minnie's beach bash breakfast buffet crepes

And even Minnie (and Mickey) Waffles. The Minnie waffles were cute as a button, as you’d expect! Taste-wise, they were the standard Disney waffle (which honestly is pretty good). But let’s be real, you’re mostly here for the adorable Minnie shape, right?

mickey and minnie waffles

If you prefer something a bit lighter, there is an assortment of yogurt, parfaits, and oatmeal.

Plus, your standard fruit options are also available: melon, berries, and citrus. Everything seemed fresh enough, and it’s always good to have some healthy options on the table.

cafe may cafe minnie's beach bash breakfast buffet fresh fruit

Like all Disney buffets, there is a section of the buffet line that is lower to the ground that is designed especially for kids. On the day we dined, they had Mickey Waffles, pancakes, potato barrels (aka tater tots), and ketchup all down at a kid-friendly height:

Omelet Station

The omelet station was the star of the show for us.

If you want something made fresh for you, head there where a chef will create a customized omelette just for you.

Since the omelets were cooked to order, we actually preferred this to many of the items available on the regular buffet.

cafe may cafe minnie's beach bash breakfast buffet omelet station

Water, soft drinks, juice, coffee, tea, and milk are all included with the cost of your meal. There is also a selection of beer, cider, seltzer, wine, or cocktails you can order for an additional cost.

Important : If you or someone in your party has dietary restrictions, many Disney World restaurants have accommodations, and they also sometimes list the allergy-friendly items on the menu (online and in the My Disney Experience app). If you have questions, be sure to chat with a Cast Member and they’ll be able to assist you.

Our most recent review of Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast

Cape May was overall a decent choice for breakfast. Let’s talk about the good things first.

yacht club character breakfast

Location. The location of Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast at Cape May Cafe is very convenient for many resorts. Of course, any of the Epcot area resorts are within walking distance (Yacht Club, Beach Club, Boardwalk Inn and Villas, Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve) and with the Skyliner , all of the resorts on that line (Pop Century, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, and Disney’s Riviera Resort) also are an easy ride away.

This is a big deal because it can sometimes be a hassle to get to a restaurant that is at a different resort than the one you are staying at – especially for breakfast.

Now, what about the character interactions? We thought the characters were a lot of fun. They have cute outfits, and they spent a decent amount of time at our table. It wasn’t the BEST character interactions we’ve ever had. But it wasn’t terrible.

But, the bad part was it felt chaotic. The characters came in weird bursts (or at least weird to us and not our experience at other character meals), the spacing felt tight – especially around the buffet, and because our table was kind of in the corner, it made it difficult to get in and out.

As for the food, it was okay – and we did sample nearly everything. It was breakfast food – and it is really hard to mess up breakfast food, but it is also kind of difficult to have too many “unique” things at breakfast, either.

yacht club character breakfast

Pretty much all the breakfast buffets at Disney World offer a similar menu, unlike the buffet service for lunch and dinner. That can be both a plus and a minus, though, depending on how adventurous you like to be when dining.

A food highlight for us was the omelet station. Having something prepared fresh was great, and the serving size of the omelets was perfect (not so big that you don’t leave room for anything else).

yacht club character breakfast

And the waffles were delicious, too.

Everything else was good for what it was. There weren’t really any other standouts, aside from the Minnie-shaped waffles simply because Mickey is the typical shape you find which made the Minnie ones extra sweet.

Is Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast worth it?

First off, the food is fine. You’ve got your standard Minnie waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage, grits, biscuits and gravy, etc. They do add a few special items like the omelet station and crêpes. It’s a solid breakfast buffet, but we wouldn’t say it’s anything to write home about. If you’re expecting a culinary masterpiece, this might not be the spot for you. But if you’re good with a decent, hearty breakfast to kick off your day in the parks, then you’ll be satisfied.

But, if you are booking here, you are likely doing it because of the characters. Minnie, Daisy, Goofy, and Donald Duck usually make the rounds, and yes, they’re adorable in their beach gear.

But we’ve got to be honest, the character interactions are not as intimate as some of the other experiences we’ve had. Maybe it was the day we went, or maybe it’s a bit hit-or-miss, but it felt a little rushed and a bit chaotic. You’ll still get some cute photos, but don’t expect an over-the-top, magical experience.

On the topic of cost, you’re looking at around $49 for adults and $29 for kids aged 3-9 as of our last visit. Not the most expensive meal you’ll have at Disney World, but not cheap either. When you consider that you’re getting both food and some time with characters, it might seem like a reasonable deal.

So, is Cape May Cafe worth it? We’d say it depends on what you’re looking for. If you want a simple, decent breakfast with a side of Disney characters, then sure, go for it. It’s a nice way to start your day, especially if you’re staying nearby at an Epcot Area or Skyliner resort or are planning to head to Epcot or Hollywood Studios.

But if you’re after something exceptional—either in terms of food or character experiences—we’d recommend you try out Topolino’s, which is a nearby breakfast character meal located at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends at Topolino’s is not a buffet (so it is less chaotic) and the entrée selections are way better, too.

Review: Cape May Cafe Breakfast Review

Cape May Cafe is a Table Service Restaurant in the Beach Club Resort which has both a Character Breakfast in the morning and a Buffet Style Clam-bake Dinner in the evening (the Dinner does NOT have Characters).  If you are using the Disney Dining Plan you will need to use 1 Dining Credit for Breakfast or Dinner.  It does participate in Tables in Wonderland which gives you a %20 discount on your food and drinks, which is always a great thing!  Cape May Cafe does accept ADR’s 180 Days in advance and because of the extreme popularity in Character Breakfasts I highly recommend making one 180 days out.

If you’ve never experienced a Character Breakfast before then you’re in for a treat and here you get to see Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck!  There is also an all-you-can-eat Buffet at your disposal with classic breakfast items such as: Eggs, Sausage, Bacon, Danish, Pastries, Muffins, Waffles, Ham, Potatoes and even Crepes!   Prices vary a bit depending on if you are there in the busy season or not but expect to pay between $35-40 per adult plus tax and tip.  That isn’t a cheap breakfast by any means and not something you want to do every day of your trip, but something you might do once.

  • Tip: If you are on the Disney Dining Plan and go to Cape May Cafe or most Character Meals is a good use of your credits, seeing as it only requires 1 credit and you get good value for it.

It’s been a while so I wanted to do a Cape May Cafe breakfast review to see if any improvements or changes have been made. Let’s have a look….

Atmosphere:

Cape May Cafe is located at the Beach Club Resort , which just happens to be my favorite and what I feel is the best resort in all of Walt Disney World.  If your already staying at the Yacht or Beach Club then it will be no problem getting here you can just roll out of bed and come in your PJ’s if you want!  If you’re staying at one of the other Epcot Resorts such as the Boardwalk or Swan and Dolphin then you can walk right over too as it’s only a 10 minute walk.  It makes sense to come to Cape May Cafe for breakfast then spend the day in either Epcot or Hollywood Studios after breakfast as they are close by.

If you have a reservation at Cape May Cafe but staying at another resort they will give you a parking voucher which lasts a couple of hours.  If you don’t have a car and are not staying nearby there’s always Uber!

Enter into the wonderful Beach Club Resort Lobby and enjoy that Victorian style beach-side atmosphere.  Elegance and relaxed at the same time:

You’ll see some old turn of the century seaside style decorations including these beach chairs:

Is this the kind of bathing suit you wore as a kid?:

If you’re not too stuffed after breakfast maybe we can play a game of croquet?:

The restaurant is very open and spacious.  The beautiful wooden stick style architecture is apparent:

The same light blues, pinks and white color Cape May Cape as the rest of the Beach Club:

You can have your choice of either booths or regular tables:

One of the coolest features of Cape May are the Sand Castles:

There are a variety of them, all of which are uniquely different:

The attention to detail is superb!  I wish I could have been able to make sand castles like this when I was a kid!:

Characters:

While the food is often times good at character breakfasts (and we’ll get to that), right off the bat you need to recognize that the real show are the Characters.   At Disney Character Meals a variety of different characters will come around and visit all the tables in the restaurant, taking pictures with you and signing autographs.

At the Cape May Cafe Breakfast you will find Minnie, Goofy and Donald Duck.   They are all dressed in their swimming outfits and ready for the beach, something you won’t find anywhere else in Walt Disney World.  Right now there are only those three, although from time Disney adjusts which characters go where so it is subject to change.

What makes Cape May Cafe a good choice for a character breakfast is that it’s less crowded than many others like Chef Mickey’s or Crystal Palace, which means you’re more likely to get a reservation and probably will have more time with the characters.

Goofy was funny as usual, posing, giving high-fives and just being his normal silly self!

Minnie Mouse:

and of course the lovely Minnie.  She even had time to help Big Zig out with his smartphone problems:

All the characters took time to take pictures and interact with us.  Sometimes character breakfasts seem rushed and they are in a hurry so much you barely get to say hello before they are off to the next table.  That’s the strong point of Cape May Cafe is it’s usually less crowded so you have more time.

  • Tip: The earlier you make your reservation the less crowded it will be and the more time you’ll have with the characters!

Let’s get to the good stuff now…

Some unique offerings to Cape May Cafe are the delicious Chorizo and Four Cheese Scrambled Eggs , Cape May French Toast, Frittata and the Crepe Station!   Make my own crepes?  That’s all you had to tell me!!!  It’s all you can eat, so feel free to get up and have as many plates as you want.

Tip: Even though it’s a bit more crowed, if you go later in the morning, you can probably fill up, skip Lunch and then not eat again till Dinner.

You’ll find the Buffet Island in the middle of the restaurant.  Let’s get up and see what they’ve got:

Around the island you’ll see normal buffet-style pans which are hot and filled with yummy food.  For example there are 3 kinds of Eggs, Scrambled Eggs on the left and the Chorizo and Four Cheese Eggs in the middle:

The third kind was Eggs with Goat Cheese, Spinach, Mushrooms and Peppers , along with of course Bacon!

Breakfast Sausages and Potatoes :

Hand-carved Ham slices:

Southern Biscuits, Gravy and Creamy Cheddar Grits are always welcome to me! 🙂

There’s always one type of seasonal vegetable, this time Asparagus and Hollandaise Sauce .

Yes… French Toast! :

A selection of Sliced Deli Meats and Cheese.   It doesn’t look like they were hand sliced though:

Your typical Bagels , but there’s also Pastrami-style Smoked Salmon to go with it:

English Muffins along with other Breads upon which you can spread an assortment of Jams and Butter:

Nice selection of Cakes and Mini Muffins:

These Cinnamon Rolls were unbelievable, trust me you’ll be making more than one stop here:

And what Disney Breakfast would be complete without the famous Mickey Waffles ?!?!  I know I could never go without! 😉

There are some nice fixings for the Mickey Waffles too, a Strawberry Compote and Whipped Cream:

And also Chocolate Chips to throw on top!

Lastly and most interesting of all is the Crepes Station , yes, Crepes!!  As of writing this it’s the only Character Breakfast in Disney World where you can find them.  Here you can have them with Nutella or Blackberry Compote inside or also accompany them with Bananas Foster:

They are cooked fresh right before your eyes:

Lastly there’s a Fresh Fruit and Yogurt Station:

You’ll find a variety of Yogurts, Low-fat Strawberry, Low-fat Vanilla, House-made Granola as well as Applesauce and Cottage Cheese:

Fresh Fruit includes Pineapple, Strawberries and Blueberries, Melon, Oranges, Grapes and Grapefruit:

There’s even Granola, Trail Mix and an Apple Walnut Salad:

Before we started eating we ordered up a Bloody Mary , and I’ve gotta say this thing was incredible!!!  Hey we like to start out the day right! 😉

We started off with a plate full of all three kinds of Eggs, Potatoes, Sausage and of course Bacon! :

Sausage was nice a crisp on the outside and greasy and flavorful in.  Bacon was also quite good for a buffet breakfast (it’s no Oscasr Meyer Thick-cut Bacon) it was light and flavorful and neither burnt or undercooked.  Also the Potatoes were very good I thought.  Could really taste the peppers and onions which blended awesomely but were not overpowering.  They were browned but not burnt, and not too mushy either.

Next plate was some B read and Butter, because well, it’s awesome!  Also we tried the Pastrami-style Smoked Salmon which was incredible and gave traditional smoked salmon a bit more kick!  But that Cinnamon Roll…..Wow!  These things are irresistible, really!  They were warm and gooey, covered in s weet cream cheese frosting …yeah, don’t really need to say more than that do I?

Time for some Fruit:

I forgot to mention my Juice which was an Orange, Mango, Passion Fruit Juice which was super yummy.  I think I had 3 of them! 🙂

With my juice of course I had to try some Crepes, made freshly from the crepes station.  I got one Nutella filled and one Blackberry:

You can put Nutella in just about anything and it will taste better!:

I of course am also a fruit lover and of course putting Blackberry inside is the more healthy option!  Was wonderful!

Lastly were the Mickey Waffles which I can never skip!  Perfectly crisp yet chewy, and we loaded up on the Strawberries and Whipped Cream!

Try to guess which plate was mine and which was my Mom’s…

Overall Cape May Cafe was a success. It’s one of the least crowed Character Breakfasts in Walt Disney World which is definitely a plus.  We came early at about 7:45 and the place was less than half full so we had plenty of time to mingle with the characters without feeling too rushed.  There are only three characters which is a drawback , but the ease makes up for it.

The atmosphere is laid back and relaxed , just like being at the seaside.  It’s also bright, cheerful and quite spacious inside.  The convenience if you are staying at the Yacht and Beach Club, or any of the Epcot area resorts can’t be beat.  It also makes a great starting point for a long day in Epcot or Hollywood Studios.

The price of $35-40 is quite expensive for a normal breakfast, but comes in normal for Disney Buffets.  The Buffet itself is big and has a great selection of Hot and Cold offerings with the standouts being the Chorizo Four Cheese Eggs, Cinnamon Rolls, Waffles and Crepe Station!  Most of the offerings won’t blow you away and you’ll find them at most at most buffets, but it was solid.

Overall a few of the Character Breakfasts are still above Cape May Cafe like 1900 Park Fare and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, and I’d say Cape May falls in the middle of the pack .  However if you’re looking for a character breakfast which isn’t too crowded and has a nice quantity of food with some unique items, as well as a good location then give Cape May Cafe a try!

Cape May Cafe is open from 7:30am – 11:00am for Breakfast and 5:00pm – 9:00pm for Dinner Daily.  The Dinner Buffet does NOT have characters.   The Disney Dining Plan is also accepted, it is a 1 Disney Dining Credit Restaurant.  Reservations can be made via the Disney World website or by calling (407) WDW-DINE .

Ziggy Knows Disney close

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.

Wow, you just sold me on this place! Thanks for the wonderfully in depth review. Adding this to my ADR list right now!

So...last week a good friend visited Cape May for breakfast hoping to enjoy the crepe station. It's a favorite of hers. It WASN'T THERE! Have you heard tell of this elsewhere? I'll be so sad. We have reservations in a couple months as we are staying at Beach Club. We were really looking forward to the crepes

Thursday 4th of May 2017

oh, no!!! that's terrible! It was my favorite part of the meal when I was there too! Did your friend ask anything about it? I haven't seen this anywhere else yet unfortunately, but if I do I'll let you know!

Cape May Cafe Breakfast Review (Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast Buffet)

This article provides a review of the character breakfast, Minnie’s Beach Bash, at Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.

Walk through the lobby of Disney’s Beach Club anytime during breakfast hours, and you’ll likely find the lobby buzzing with guests. Most of those guests are waiting to check in or be seated at Cape May Cafe’s Minnie Beach Bash.

When I say buzzing, I mean lots of families with small children. Usually, everyone is hungry and eager to get their seat. But, even more so, later in the morning, you’ll find the guests who sacrificed eating breakfast earlier in exchange for a seat at Minnie’s Beach Bash.

This popular location offers a traditional breakfast buffet and the opportunity to meet several classic characters in fun beach attire. So grab a shovel and pail. We’re off to Cape May Cafe to enjoy Minnie’s Beach Bash.

This article was updated on December 3, 2023.

Minnie Mouse poses for a photo at the table.

Earlier in the week, I had plans to set sail on the Disney Wish with a few of my friends from Firefly Travels. Anna Marie flew into town, and we rode to the port together. On our way to Cape Canaveral, we decided to have a late breakfast at Walt Disney World upon our return. So Anna checked the My Disney Experience app, and a character breakfast for two at Cape May Cafe came up after a few refreshes.

We decided it was a great option. She wanted to try the experience for her customers, and I had yet to review Cape May Cafe. When we arrived at the Beach Club, the lobby was bustling. The gingerbread carousel had been installed the day before, and a crowd had formed around it. We checked in for our reservation and spent a few minutes checking out the gingerbread display.

Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast Buffet Pricing

At the time of this update, Minnie’s Beach Bash costs $47.00 for adults and $30.00 for children ages 3-9 years old. You can check the current price of breakfast on Disney’s site . It’s important to note that a family of four with two adults and two children will spend more than $155.00 plus tax and tip for this meal.

Cape May Cafe only has characters at breakfast. In the evening, the buffet transitions to a seafood dinner. Lunch is not served at this location. However, breakfast reservations are available between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. So you could consider this meal for brunch.

Inside, you’ll find beach theming that includes umbrellas and sand castle displays. It’s a cheerful place to enjoy breakfast.

On the way to our seats, we noticed a few breakfast cocktails on a stand near the entrance. Several drinks were available to order at an additional cost. However, coffee, tea, and soda are included in the price of the meal.

An omelet station is available in addition to the buffet.

Choices for omelets included:

  • Ham and Cheese
  • Western (Ham, Cheese, Onions, and Peppers)
  • Vegetables (Onions, Mushrooms, Peppers, and Spinach)
  • Custom (Your choice: Ham, Cheddar Cheese, Mushrooms, Onions, Pepper, and Spinach)

Like most buffets at Disney World, bread service is brought to the table. Cape May Cafe is known for its Salted Caramel Beach Buns. These rolls were soft and delicious. They were served with a vanilla cream sauce on the side.

Regarding the buffet, I took photos of all the items so you could see what’s available. Like most character meals, the food is pretty generic. It’s not necessarily bad, but it’s not great either. Most of these items you could order at one of the value resort food courts. But at least there are Mickey Waffles!

a portion of the buffet with Mickey Waffles, pancakes, and biscuits

Speaking of Mickey, here are those Mickey-shaped waffles and chocolate chip pancakes.

Next, we see French Toast and biscuits.

a closeup of French Toast and biscuits

Those biscuits come with a side of gravy. Per the menu, they were cheddar biscuits and gravy.

Then we have roasted potatoes and sausages. Most of these items are pretty standard at character dining breakfasts.

Here’s bacon with scrambled eggs.

Parker House Rolls were also on the buffet. These were likely from nearby Ale and Compass, which is one of our favorite restaurants. They have a delicious breakfast minus the character interactions.

A carving station with ham was available.

Fruit selections included grapes, strawberries, and pineapple.

Then we have a marshmallow fruit salad and overnight oatmeal with fruit topping and granola.

If you prefer regular oatmeal, it’s available, along with brown sugar and dried cranberries.

An oatmeal station on the breakfast buffet at Cape May Cafe

On the back side of the buffet, we have shredded cheese and a sauce. You could combine these items with tortillas and eggs to make a breakfast wrap.

There was another section with bacon and sausage. But, unfortunately, there wasn’t any chicken or turkey sausage available.

Next, we have asparagus, more roasted potatoes, and a plant-based item. The asparagus reminds me of breakfast at Boma, which is the best breakfast at Disney World .

Related: Boma Buffet Breakfast Review

Plant based items on the buffet include asparagus and a tofu vegetable dish.

Most of the items on the buffet have a label that helps identify them.

For instance, I had no idea what this dish had in it. But I was able to discern that it was tofu with vegetables.

These items that looked like yellow cupcakes with white icing were next to the plant-based items.

Surprisingly, they were poached eggs sitting on top of a potato hash.

On the back corner of the buffet was a kid’s section with Mickey-shaped waffles, pancakes, berry sauce, and whipped cream.

A kids' section that's lower than the rest of the buffet.

I guess it’s nice to have a few things at eye level for the kids.

Lastly, a selection of crepes with a drizzle of chocolate was available.

crepes on the buffet with chocolate sauce

For my first trip to the buffet, I got the basics. I felt all of the items on this plate were satisfactory. Unfortunately, I can’t eat a lot of eggs. So, I would have done better by removing the poached egg. After I dove into it, the egg yolk ran everywhere, which kept me from continuing.

A prepared plate with a roll, ham, asparagus, poached eggs, and potatoes.

I tried a biscuit with gravy, a chocolate chip pancake, and a little fruit for round two. The cheddar biscuit with gravy was one of my favorite bites of the meal.

I grabbed overnight oats to sample but found them mostly flavorless.

And while the crepes looked fun, they were a letdown. I don’t know if this day was the norm, but there wasn’t any filling inside them. Instead, they were strictly crepes with a dash of confectioner’s sugar and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. It would have been nice if they had a lemon butter filling with maybe a blueberry drizzle.

Overall, the breakfast items we received were exactly as we anticipated. Our meal was filling, but the food wasn’t exceptional. But Anna quickly reminded me that we were there for the characters!

Characters at Cape May Cafe

You’ll have the opportunity to meet several classic characters in fun attire at Minnie’s Beach Bash. This was the fun part of the meal, and they didn’t disappoint.

First, Minnie Mouse came to the table wearing a beautiful striped summer dress with a matching hat. I love that bow on your dress, Minnie!

Minnie Mouse

Not long after, Donald Duck made an appearance. He reminded us that he was the number one character at breakfast.

Donald Duck at Cape May Cafe Breakfast

As the meal progressed, a song came on over the speaker system. During that time, the characters gathered the children in their immediate area and invited them to dance. This interaction reminded me of the Princess Processional at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall character breakfast and the Hawaiian Roller Coaster dance at the ‘Ohana Character Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch .

Eventually, Daisy Duck made an appearance at our table. She was as fashionable as ever.

Daisy Duck at Cape May Cafe

Goofy was the last character to come by our table. By the time Goofy had arrived, we were finishing up. Our meal lasted approximately one hour, and we met all the characters.

If you reserve this meal, I would plan for it to take an hour and a half. We waited about fifteen minutes to be seated after we checked in. Additionally, meeting the characters could take a little longer if they are running behind. So pace yourself during breakfast.

A server will likely mention this, but if a character is nearby when you’re initially seated, you can wait or feel free to go on and prepare your food. That character will come back through by the end of your meal.

Goofy at Cape May Cafe

To keep things flowing smoothly, the characters at Minnie’s Beach Bash do not sign autographs. An autograph card is presented to the table. One side of the card shows Minnie and her friends at the beach.

On the opposite side, you’ll find the character’s autographs.

Characters autographs at Cape May Cafe

Ultimately, the characters at Cape May Cafe made our experience enjoyable. I couldn’t help but notice that others around us seemed to be having a good time.

Cape May Character Breakfast Daisy Duck

Funny enough, the dad at the table next to us nearly croaked when he received the check. Anna couldn’t help but notice his “wow” expression when he opened the bill. So keep the price in mind when reserving a character meal. If you’re on a tight budget, you might opt to meet a few characters in the parks.

But if you want to experience a little bit of everything, plan a character breakfast on a morning when you don’t have a ton of other stuff planned. We like to do this kind of thing on a resort day, where we enjoy a late breakfast, spend the afternoon at the pool, and then have a casual dinner.

We have a complete guide that covers every character restaurant at Walt Disney World . Here are some of our recent character meals:

  • Tusker House Character Breakfast Review
  • The Crystal Palace Breakfast Review
  • Topolino’s Terrace Character Breakfast

Regarding meeting characters in the parks, we provide walk-throughs of our experiences in our guide to Character Meet-and-Greets at Disney World .

What Do You Think?

What are your thoughts on Minnie’s Beach Bash at Cape May Cafe? Do you plan to reserve this character meal during your vacation?

Hi, I'm Amber the owner of Resorts Gal . We have stayed at every single Disney Resort Hotel. Our philosophy? We believe you can have an incredible time at the resorts without ever setting foot in a theme park. We live near the parks and visit weekly and would love for you to follow along.

I am in love with the character outfits. I wonder if you would recommend this restaurant over Topolino’s for breakfast? I like the idea of the buffet more then Top’s menu.. But the ambience might be better. Thanks for a great article!

Hi, I think that Topolino’s is the best character breakfast at Disney in regards to the food. It’s also nice to visit the Riviera and enjoy rooftop dining. With that said, Cape May Cafe is fun and there are more options on the buffet–but they are fairly generic buffet items.
