South of France Yachting: When to Go

The French Riviera is one of the world’s best summer yachting grounds. Like most of the Mediterranean, the season peaks in July and August, when visitors are welcomed by sunny days and mild temperatures in the low-80s. The shoulder season months of June and September also offer prime yachting conditions. Temperatures hover in the high-70s, the sun is almost always out, and the beaches are always less crowded.

Ultimately, the yachting season in South of France is blessed with ideal cruising conditions, including steady 8- to 15-knot northeasterly breezes, which picks up to about 20 knots in peak season. Water temperatures are also inviting, hovering in the mid-70s in July and August.

French Riviera yacht charters

No matter where you choose to spend your days in the South of France, the region’s Medieval towns, good-life culture, and charming, though sometimes understated, luxury makes this the ideal destination for yacht charter guests of all ages and interests. Where will your France yacht charter take you?

  • Cannes With its couture shops and Gatsby-Esque glamor, Cannes owns a reputation as being a top yacht charter destination for the rich and famous. From the narrow, cobble-stoned streets, to the stunning panoramic views, and upscale restaurants and resorts, Cannes is a luxury traveler’s playground. Of course, the annual Cannes Film Festival – an affluent, A-list affair – has cemented the city’s reputation.
  • Monaco Not officially a part of France, Monaco is regarded as Europe’s most extravagant city-state. As small as it is renowned, Monaco spans just 200 hectares in size, making it the second smallest country, behind only the Vatican. But don’t let its small size fool you; Monaco is one of the world’s most glamorous locales. Home to the annual Grand Prix de Monaco – an annual Formula One race that runs through the city’s streets – as well as many upscale casinos and Michelin-starred restaurants, Monaco is an ideal port of call on your French Riviera yacht charter.
  • Corsica Corsica boasts a stunning array of biodiversity and offers an ideal outdoor escape from Riviera’s mainland. The island – which lies near Sardinia, is home to countless glittering bays, idyllic coastal cities, near-perfect beaches, and vibrant hilltop villages.

Why Charter a Private Yacht in South of France

Anchor in the South of France and experience all the excitement and glamour the region has to offer. What can you expect? From the rich culture and action-packed festivals to world-class cuisine and recreation, the French Riviera is one of Europe’s most revered destinations. Here’s what you can expect on a private yacht charter in the South of France:

Villefrenche sur mer

History & Culture Known for its countless Medieval towns, castles, and palaces elements, the South of France is a snapshot of its long history. Around every corner, a historical landmark awaits to transport you to the Old World: Bustling flower markets, trendy craft cocktail bars, countrywide festivals, and world-renowned events like the Cannes International Film Festival.

Cuisine Life revolves around food in the South of France. The cuisine – a distinctive blend of Mediterranean and French flavors – features dishes shaped by sun and sea. Visit Provenance’s Cours Saleya, a bustling produce market offering tastes of France’s best wines, cheeses, and pastries. Or stop in Marseille, the region’s seafood capital, for a cup of bouillabaisse. Whatever your palate desires, you’ll find it: from vegetarian favorites like “Ratatouille” and “tarte au citron,” to amazing wine and, of course, cheese.

Landscape Charterers flock to the French Riviera for the glamour, but it’s just as revered by lovers of the outdoors. Take a hike and escape the bustle of the city in the Maritime Alps, where you’ll find deep gorges, stunning vistas, and pristine forests. Corsica, too, is a nature lovers’ dream. With its protected landscapes, including many pristine ports, hiking trails, and geological features, the island offers plenty of tranquil landscapes to explore.

Nightlife If you’re in the South of France, namely Cannes, get ready to experience a nightlife unlike any other place on earth. With the city’s mix of trendy bars, neighborhood pubs, and fashionable clubs (where a celebrity sighting isn’t out of the question), a night out in Cannes has the potential to continue even after the sun has already risen.

Festivals & Events The South of France puts on some of the best festivals in the world, and no matter the month, you’re bound to stumble upon an arts festival, regatta, or sporting event. Come in May for Monaco’s Grand Prix, a Formula One race that flies with numerous hairpin turns. Or charter a yacht for the Nice Jazz Festival – a world-class affair that’s been running since 1948.

VAT (Value Added Tax) on Yacht Charters in France

As any yachter knows, all private yacht charters are subject to certain Value Added Tax (VAT) laws. When embarking from the South of France, the applicable VAT rate is 20% – due in full if the charter includes only French or EU waters, determined by whether or not a voyage stays within 12 nautical miles of the French mainland and its islands.

If the voyage includes high seas and international waters, the charterer can benefit from a 50% reduction on the standard 20% VAT rate.

Things to Do and See in the French Riviera

  • Explore the Castle of Nice and relish the amazing views of the harbor, beach, and surrounding scenery.
  • Spend a lavish night in Monaco gaming at a lux casino like Casino Monte-Carlo or Casino Café de Paris.
  • Hike around Verdon Gorges, the so-called Grand Canyon of France, and swim in the deep blue waters of Lac De Sainte Croix.
  • Shop the luxury boutiques and designer outposts along Boulevard de la Croisette in Cannes.
  • Visit the Picasso Museum in Antibes and explore the works of the famed artist (there more than 200 Picasso works on display).
  • Indulge in French wine, cheese, and cuisine in Provence, the region’s foodie capital.
  • Spend a day relaxing on one of France’s iconic beaches like the remote Palmbaggia Beach in Corsica or the ultra-exclusive Paloma Beach in Nice.

What to see on a trip to the French Riviera

A yacht charter in the South of France is by far the best way to soak up everything this slice of Mediterranean coastline has to offer. Stop off at any number of the region’s many ports as and when the need arises, or just jump into the warm, clear blue seas at a moment’s notice – you really can relax and take things in at your own pace.

A luxury yacht holiday in the French Riviera opens up a world of possibilities – this corner of the Mediterranean really does offer something for everyone, from sun worshippers and culture vultures, to shopaholics and social butterflies.

Renowned for its mild climate and breathtaking landscapes, each stop along this most stunning of coastlines offers something different. Take Antibes, for instance, a town split into two very distinct parts – Juan-les- Pins is the glitzy side of town, famous for its annual Jazz à Juan festival, while Eden Casino is the place to go for the most vibrant nightlife and gambling – it’s also home to some beautiful, secluded beaches that are perfect for winding down.

If it’s a truly secluded beach you’re after, a trip to Calanque d’En-Vau beach in Cassis is essential. Accessible by kayak or on foot by way of an hour long trek, this is also one of the region’s best snorkelling spots.

Cannes is one of the French Riviera’s most revered resorts, its picture perfect coastline is sprinkled with exclusive hotels, bars, restaurants, and shops where you can rub shoulders with the A-list and the elite. And don’t miss out on a trip to Cannes’ Old Town, Le Suquet, which is accessed from the Old Port and is home to rustic bars and restaurants, and the Musee de la Castre.

yacht south of france

Other must-see destinations to yacht charter on the South of France include Monaco , Nice, the Lerins Islands islands, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and Saint-Tropez, where you can indulge in everything from fine wine tasting to exhilarating walks in the surrounding natural parks.

Sheltered by hills to the west and the Alps to the northwest, the French Riviera has a mild, year-round climate, making it a perfect destination no matter what season you choose to travel. But when chartering a yacht in the French Riviera, it’s ideal to travel between March and September.

Aéroport Nice Côte d’Azur is the region’s main hub and is France’s second busiest international airport, after Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. France’s extensive system of motorways and high speed rail links connect the Riviera to the rest of Europe.

The ports of Nice, Cannes, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Monaco are Mediterranean stopovers for major cruise lines, but there are plenty more ports available for chartered yachts, such as Antibes.

The Euro is the region’s accepted currency, and the local language is French, though you may find some Italian speakers closer to the border with Italy.

Discover the French Riviera by Sail

While perceptions suggest a holiday on the French Riviera is expensive, with good planning that is not necessarily the case. Marina stays outside the main centres are very competitive with other destinations considered low-cost by comparison.

Yes, this is the South of France, and prices can reflect the tastes of the rich and famous who travel there. But with forethought and good advice the value of a boating holiday on the Côte d'Azur, along with the fun and excitement to be had, may surprise you.

We had a Lagoon 52 for our sail out of Grimaud, France. Enjoyed the French Riviera, it was a 10. Went to St. Tropez, Cannes, Monaco, Antibes and took side trips inland to Eze and St Paul de Vence to name a couple. Dave, USA, September 2018

Yacht Chartering along the Côte d'Azur, c'est la Belle Vie

Besides the blue waters, sandy beaches and sunshine, a feature of France's Mediterranean coast is the collection of quaint villages with seaside frontages that have been carefully preserved as modern development has proceeded alongside. A hotel stay here can be pricey, so holidaying aboard a boat gives you the best of both worlds. With easy access to the onshore delights by day, you can escape to your own, very cost-effective, floating hotel by night. In fact as you drop anchor or tie up along this coast, you become part of the vista those hotel-dwellers have come to look out on. Relax on board, look back at them, and smile.

On a sailing or motor boat charter, your time generally involves making short coastal passages between the many must-see attractions. If your schedule allows, factor in plenty of shore time, because some places you'll find it hard to get away from. The most popular stretch of bareboat charter territory runs 90 nautical miles from Toulon to Monaco. But it doesn't stop there. Go east to the Italian Riviera, or west to Marseilles and the Camargue.

The Cote d'Azur delivers a wondrous mix of all the pleasures in life, not least the sailing itself, which is invigorating in the warm Mediterranean breeze. Take time out on passage to recharge the senses between stimulating experiences ashore.

We have a wide range of high-quality boats available in bases at Port Pin Roland (Toulon), St Raphael and Golfe Juan (both near Cannes).

Our client reviews about charter sailing in South of France

Rating: 5 / 5 We had a Lagoon 52 for our sail out of Grimaud, France. The boat met our needs and expectations and was in excellent condition. Not a great sailing vessel but very comfortable and enjoyed by our non-sailing wives. The charter company was good. Our skipper and hostess were fantastic and highly recommend for sailing in the area. Very knowledgeable and accommodating. Enjoyed the French Riviera, it was a 10. Went to St. Tropez, Cannes, Monaco, Antibes and took side trips inland to Eze and St Paul de Vence to name a couple. Your service was excellent and everything was terrific. Thanks for all your help in insuring a memorable vacation. Dave, USA, Sep 23rd, 2018

South of France Yacht Charters

The luxury yacht charter cruising season in the South of France begins in May with the annual film festival in Cannes and the Monaco Grand Prix. This is the most popular luxury yacht charter location in the Mediterranean with many itinerary choices to suit every guest.

Crewed charter on private luxury yachts is what we do, it's all that we do and we have over twenty years proven experience to help you.

Cote d'Azur Charters

Cote d'Azur, synonymous with the French Riviera, is the whole coast of southeast France, including Monaco. From St. Tropez to the Italian border, visitors can come experience 560 miles of beaches, golf courses, restaurants, great harbors, and fine hotels. The Cote d'Azur is sheltered by the Alps (excellent for skiing), but it benefits from over 300 days of sunshine a year! Nice is Cote d'Azur's largest city, where you'd likely fly into. Cote d'Azur's marinas attract 50% of the world's superyachts annually. Once full of fishermen, olive groves, and flowers, Cote d'Azur is now a vacation spot with an emphasis on fantastic cuisine, historic atmosphere, and high-rolling gamblers.

The Cote d'Azur is embodied by its artistic, beachy, well-dressed clientele instead of by the gritty city vibe of Marseille. Come to Cote d'Azur for the Cannes Film Festival or an international convention. Charter a yacht for the Formula One Grand Prix in Monaco or the Jazz Festival. Charter for Nice's Carnival or Monte Carlo's International Circus Festival. See what tempted Braques, Cezanne, Matisse, Monet, Fitzgerald, Huxley, Maugham, and Wharton to the French Riviera. In any case, charter a yacht on the South of France and plan to act like a royal.

Visiting St Tropez by Private Yacht

Is there a place describing "the ritz" of the South of France more than St.Tropez? And nothing lives up to "the ritz" more than a luxury private yacht charter with a full crew and personal chef.

St. Tropez has to be one of the best places to start a luxury yacht charter. Surrounded by a centuries-old wall, the town has small, intimate restaurants lining the harbor that specialize in seafood and Provencale cuisine. Behind the waterfront restaurants you'll find a maze of streets and alleys ("chemins") with countless little shops selling everything from traditional Provencale foods and brightly colored linens to designer gear and hand-made accessories.

It should be mentioned that St. Tropez has more than yachts, nightlife, and beaches. There is also the Maison des Papillons, which showcases 250 varieties of butterflies that used to live in the surrounding areas. And if you are looking for athletic action, you can hit the courts at the Tennis Club de St. Tropez or even rent your own boat to explore the Mediterranean if you have not arrived on a charter yacht.

St. Tropez has several points of interest that you can fit into a day stop on a yacht charter. SPA Pure Altitude at La Villa Marie is the place to go for personalized beauty treatments. Plage de Pamplonne is an absolute favorite of beach goers, and Maison Ocoa is its resident bar/club if you're interested in seeing and being seen. As a former military stronghold, St. Tropez has a historic air that comes to life if you manage to visit the Zitadelle von St. Tropez. Long ago St. Tropez transitioned from military outpost to fishing village, and then further to sailing hub for the rich. The port hosts Les Voiles de St. Tropez, a sailing regatta, at the end of each September.

A final attraction worth mentioning is the Musee de L'Annonciade, which houses the works of many French painters. This is integral to the St. Tropez experience because art has played an important role here for many years. Pointilist Paul Signac's pieces personify the energy of St. Tropez, and it was his interest in the wonderful light here that brought the likes of Matisse, Bonnard, and Marquet to the St. Tropez scene. French New Wave artists came through St. Tropez and ultimately influenced cinema as well as music. St. Tropez also saw fashion designers Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli add to the art community in the 1920's. Nearly 100 years later St. Tropez still asks what inspiration it can offer you.

Isles d'Hyeres

These three islands, also known as Iles d'Or (Islands of Gold) due to the yellow color of their rock, provide a special contrast to the rest of the Riviera. Just a short cruise away from St. Tropez, each has its own distinct characteristics. Poquerolles, the largest of the islands has an excellent selection of sandy (and often empty) beaches, as well as a truly colonial feel to its villages. The smallest island, Port-Cros, is a National Park. The island has a wild feel to it and is a great place to hike and picnic.

This town is famous for its events, luxurious hotels, restaurants, and shops.

Lining the beach are dozens of restaurants, some of which morph into funky nightclubs when the sun goes down. For shopaholics, rue d'Antibes runs parallel to la Croisette and is crammed with everything from typical French high street fashion to designer shops. One of the charms of Old Town is a covered market selling local produce and flowers; a must to include on your yacht charter vacation.

The town hosts several events throughout the year so plan accordingly if you're interested in seeing the town bustle with energy. First of all, there is the Carnival on the Riviera, which is a Mardi Gras celebration. Then there's the lesser-known International Luxury Travel Market (for all things jet set) and the International Festival of Games, which includes backgammon, bridge, and chess. And considering Cannes is on the Mediterranean, there is the requisite event for boating enthusiasts: Festival de la Plaisance at Vieux Port. Read more about Cannes.

Antibes by charter yacht

You'll find the resort town of Antibes primly situated between Cannes and Nice. Antibes provides some respite from these two more bustling towns though, ironically, it was once the only major stop on journeys from Marseilles to Italy. The reason for this is that Antibes has ancient ramparts that have kept it safe from destruction for centuries. Also, Antibes stayed relevant throughout history as its naturally protected port proved quite important for trade. Antibes has stood the test of time as its Roman aqueducts can attest; though the 5th Century saw Antibes overrun with barbaric tribes. The past century saw Elizabeth Taylor choose Antibes as a honeymoon destination. Antibes is at once historically interesting and presently beguiling.

How to explore Antibes

When choosing how best to experience Antibes from your charter yacht, you should know that walking through the town center is absolutely necessary. You'll get your bearings on foot and also be able to wander better this way since the streets tend to be very narrow, your yacht charter crew will be able to guide you if you wish. Antibes has 48 beaches, and the Plage de la Salis is the starting point for a hike up to Garoupe Lighthouse, which will afford you some fantastic views. Other stops on your Antibes outdoors itinerary should include visits to local gardens. Exflora Park is a wonderful mix of different styles of Mediterranean gardens, and it also features fountains and ponds. There is a rose bush path leading to the sea, a maze with sculpted hedges, an orange grove, a winter garden, and a vegetable garden. Eilenroc Gardens are located well above sea level, playing host to traditional Mediterranean species and housing a whole part dedicated to the plants of Antibes.

Once you are ready to head indoors, you will have several museums to choose from. Juan des Pins is the part of Antibes that has the nightclubs, shopping, and a casino. Antibes proper has nice restaurants, chic boutiques, and fancy accommodations. However you want to spend your time relaxing, you should at least consider the cultural aspects of Antibes.

Antibes has many music festivals and outdoor concerts in the summer, and Jazz is a favorite with the Jazz a Juan fest leading the way in attendance. There is also the Festival of Sacred Music at Antibes Cathedral, which is as heavenly as it sounds. Other fests include the Antique Show of Antibes, the Festival of St. Peter (patron saint of fishermen), Antibes Yacht Show, and the popular Voiles d'Antibes Mediterranean Regatta. Come to Antibes to experience opulent lifestyle as Liz Taylor did, to embrace the art scene as Picasso did, or just to live comfortably on the Med as fishermen do even today.

Villefranche and Cap Ferrat

Villefranche-sur-Mer and St. Jean Cap Ferrat are two idyllic seaside villages hiding superb restaurants, secret bays, and excellent anchorages. Short inland trips arranged from your charter yacht can include ancient hilltop towns complete with picturesque passageways and countless galleries. Many yachts anchor off either harbor, and guests use the yacht's tender to go ashore.

Villefranche-sur-Mer is a wonderful destination on the French Riviera that offers visitors the requisite view of the Mediterranean, as well as many hotel choices and restaurant options. Fewer than 10 miles away are the following towns and villages: Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Nice, Eze, Cap-d'Ail, La Turbie, Monte Carlo, Beausoleil, Peillon, and Saint-Laurent-du-Var. The area of Villefranche-sur-Mer is home to Acropolis museum, Jean Bouin Sport Palace, and the Palais Nikaia theater. You may sail into Villefranche on a yacht charter and find yourself adrift in historic ambience that allows you to imagine life as it used to be.

Sailing and deep sea diving are popular here, and La Darse harbor provides docking for boats. The bay at Villefranche is an unusually deep harbor, as Mediterranean ports go, so it is safe for large ships and charter yachts of all sizes. The Russian Navy used Villefranche as a base at one point; meanwhile it has become the most visited port in France ever since cruise ships started bringing people here in the 1980s. The Old Town and bay at Villefranche have been featured in the films Captain Horatio Hornblower, To Catch a Thief, The Jewel of the Nile, and several more. There is real old world charm here and proximity to many other renowned destinations. Don't forget a trip up to the tiny medieval village of Eze!

French Riviera yacht charters

When is the charter season in the south of france.

Season: March, April, May, June + winter (summer busy).

The main charter season in the Riviera is the summer – April to September. Main months are July and August. Notice the interesting months of March and October, which offer a nice combination of “water warm enough to swim” and out of season prices.

What are the top reasons to charter in the French Riviera during the summer?

What was once used as a resort area for the wealthiest of the British colonies is now served as the most popular tourist location in France.

  • during the main season, the daylight ends after 8 pm
  • the temperatures range from 85°F – 100°F
  • world’s most familiar charter destination
  • amazing French food
  • known for its warm climate, stunning landscape
  • fascinating destinations including St Tropez, Monaco, and Cannes
  • picturesque Bandol and Cassis

What is yacht charter/boat rental in the French Riviera?

Yacht charter is a different name for boat rental. Most common yacht charters in France are 6 nights/7 days and start on Saturday. That’s why most if not all prices on this website are weekly.

A yacht charter in the French Riviera will include a deposit forfeiture insurance, sometimes also trip cancellation insurance.

Event Yacht Charters in France

Cannes film festival yacht charters, monaco f1 grand prix yacht charter, le tour de france yacht charter, french riviera yacht charter locations.

The French Riviera (Côte d’Azur) is historically both French and Italian. Until now, pasta is still a thing, while you still should try the Bouillabaisse.

Light and vivid colors of the sea have always been a source of inspiration for artists. Chagall and Matisse actually have their museums here. In previous eras, Nice was the southern haven for affluent patrons from all over Europe. Otherwise, Nice is known for flowers, which are reasonably priced in this, overall pricier city. The abundance of flowers allowed the rise of the perfume industry, namely the Molinard family.

Take a walk on the Promenade des Anglais.

Villefranche

Villefranche has a beautiful harbor with an interesting history. The area was often looted by pirates and the local population moved higher up the hill. In order to “stimulate” the people to live down the city, a “tax-free (franche) town (ville) of was created, protected by the citadel.

Some of the biggest yachts anchor here. Some of the most expensive properties in France are located between Villefranche and Monaco.

The town is down to earth and feels Italian.

Cap Ferrat is an extremely exclusive, mostly residential community fills a park like peninsula with a hidden little beach and a wonderful port of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Visit the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, a lavish Belle Époque villa of baroness Rothshild, that took 10 architects to complete. The garden includes English garden, gothic garden and Japanese garden.

A touristy but magnificent village of art and gastronomy, ideal for a scenic dinner with commanding riviera views.

One of the smallest countries in the world with no income tax or a formal border. The historically defining moment occurred when the prince decided to build a casino and secure a train line along the Riviera. Luxury high-rise condos, casinos, yachts and superb food are the main attractions, as well as the famous Grand Prix car races. Try the roulette at Casino Monte-Carlo or get a bank account in one of the local banks (prior arrangements might be required), but definitely don’t miss the changing of the guards.

Known mainly for the film festival, a sister city of Beverly Hills. Not much to tour in Cannes, but perfect for shopping, lounging and strolling. Skip the public beach and get a comfortable lounger on one of the private beaches.

A down to earth town, home to numerous charter yachts on this website. This medieval town with ramparts and towers was popular in the 20’s, with Rudolf Valentino and Charlie Chaplin partying hard. Picasso moved to Antibes with his  23 year old girlfriend to experience a surge in creativity.

Types of yachts available for a charter in French Riviera

There are two main categories to sort the yachts, crew and the number of hulls. Crew can include crewed yachts or captain only yachts.

Crewed yachts France

Crewed yachts have a skipper and at the minimum, a chef. For larger yachts, the crew size can go up to well over 10 people, depending on the yacht size.

See more Crewed Yachts

Captain Only boats France

Captain only yachts are more budget friendly, as they only have a skipper. Note that the skipper needs a cabin, so you are usually looking at the cabins you need + 1 cabin for the captain.

See more Captain Only yachts

Sailing yachts France

Sailing yachts are a great option for Frence, as the distances allow for smooth sailing. With steady breeze and virtually an unlimited number of destinations, sailing in Frajce is a great choice. Sailing yachts are usually monohulls with various lengths.

See more Sailboats

Catamarans France

Catamarans are a family friendly boat with two hulls and a large size of deck. Most of the catamarans (all except power catamarans) do have sails, so you can still cruise into the sunset. The most fun part about catamarans is the fact that there is much more room, so dinners or afternoon cocktails are definitely different. At the same time, getting in and out of a catamaran is generally easier, which makes the catamarans a clear choice for larger groups and families.

Power Catamarans France

Idyllic Weather : Blessed with a Mediterranean climate, the region promises warm, sunny days, and mild, breezy evenings. This makes it perfect for sailing adventures all year round, with the peak season running from April to October.

Rich History & Culture : Each port of call in the South of France presents a unique blend of history, culture, and cuisine. Explore the grandeur of Monaco, delve into the artistic heritage of Nice, or experience the vibrant nightlife of Cannes. Not to mention the region’s world-renowned gastronomy – freshly caught seafood, famed Provencal dishes, and locally produced wines make for a delightful culinary journey.

Breathtaking Landscapes : The South of France is not just about the blue Mediterranean waters. It’s about picturesque coastal towns, golden sandy beaches, azure-blue calanques (coves), and the aromatic lavender fields of Provence. The natural beauty is a sight to behold and offers a perfect balance to the aquatic adventures.

What Choose

Sailing boat or Catamaran, what to sail in South of France

At Yachting.Rent, we’re experts in providing unforgettable sailing experiences in the South of France, and a big part of that is helping our clients choose the right vessel for their trip. When it comes to deciding between a sailing boat and a catamaran, there’s a lot to consider, as each offers its own unique sailing experience and benefits.

A sailing boat, also known as a monohull, is a traditional choice that appeals to the purists of sailing. Sailing boats provide a more dynamic sailing experience, with the boat’s tilt offering an exciting feel of the wind and waves. These vessels are ideal for exploring narrower waterways, mooring in tight spaces, or for those who simply enjoy the thrill of sailing close to the water and love the sensation of the boat heeling under the wind.

On the other hand, catamarans, with their two hulls, are all about stability and space. They are less likely to rock in choppy conditions, making them a great choice for those prone to seasickness or families with young children. Catamarans also offer more deck space and larger living areas, perfect for group get-togethers, sunbathing, or simply enjoying the view. Their shallow draft allows them to anchor closer to the shore, letting you explore secluded beaches and hidden coves that are out of reach for deeper-hulled vessels.

In terms of speed, a well-sailed monohull can certainly keep pace with a catamaran in certain conditions, particularly upwind. However, catamarans tend to have the edge in terms of speed on a downwind course due to their wider beam and lighter weight.

At Yachting.Rent, we offer a wide range of both sailing boats and catamarans for charter in the South of France. Whether you’re after the exhilarating experience of a sailing boat or the comfort and stability of a catamaran, we’ve got you covered.

Our team of experienced professionals is on hand to guide you through the choice of the ideal yacht for your sailing needs. From understanding your sailing itinerary to your level of sailing expertise and comfort requirements, we consider all factors to provide the best recommendations. So, whether you opt for a sailing boat or a catamaran, with Yachting.Rent you’re set to have an amazing sailing experience in the South of France.

These are the biggest and most expensive boats at 2024's Palm Beach yacht show

These are the biggest and most expensive boats at 2024's Palm Beach yacht show

  • The Palm Beach International Boat Show kicks off later this week.
  • Eight megayachts are expected to be on display for would-be buyers and charter customers.

The Palm Beach International Boat Show — the yacht world's flashiest event stateside — is returning this year with over 800 boats for both deep-pocked potential owners and window shoppers to peruse.

While it's impossible to know what exactly will be on display until the show begins on Thursday, it's expected that eight megayachts — generally defined as ships over 60 meters long — will be docked at the show and at nearby marinas like the Rybovich Marina in the ritzy Florida town.

Some of these are for sale at eye-popping prices, but others are available to if in case you fancy living like a billionaire for a week or two this summer (and if you have six figures to spare on a vacation).

These are the eight biggest yachts that will be at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, in size order.

Nero: 90.1 meters

These are the biggest and most expensive boats at 2024's Palm Beach yacht show

Seanna: 64.5 meters

Price: $54,000,000 (or from $462,000 a week to charter) Special features: marble foyer, movie room, sundeck pool

The recently refurbished Seanna is available for sale and charter.

Her indoor-outdoor gym is on sea level so that passengers can take a dip after a session with the onboard personal trainer. There's also a sundeck pool, a helipad, a two-room massage facility, and, for the more cerebral guests, a library with an electric fireplace.

There are a number of toys on board, including a popular water trampoline and two WaveRunners.

Come Together: 60 meters

Price: $65,000,000 Special Features: DJ and videographer on board, ice bath, sauna

Next-to-new yacht Come Together is looking for a new owner after doing charters during the 2023 season.

The Beatles' influence is evident beyond the yacht's name, with guitars dotting the sky lounge and a crewmember who doubles as a DJ. There's also an outdoor cinema and bar for entertainment and an ice bath and sauna for the day after the party. The owner's suite has a private study and lounge, and each guest cabin has its own ensuite.

The sale includes a number of toys, like Jet Skis, kayaks, and Seabobs.
