The 2014 gentech motoryacht caught fire off the coast of greece on 9th october and is a total loss, with no injuries reported….

The 47m Navis One sank after a fire on 9th October near Ano Koufonisi island in Greece. Witnesses reported seeing flames at the yacht's stern around 8:00 PM local time. Police and coast guard arrived later that evening, with the fire rapidly spreading in strong winds. 

Efforts to control the fire by the Greek coast guard continued overnight, but the vessel began to list and finally sank during the early hours of October 10. Reportedly all 22 individuals aboard, including 10 passengers and 12 crew members, were safely evacuated with no reported injuries.

Navis One was a 2014 delivery from the Gentech shipyard.

Why no spill-containment booms or barriers? Contaminants spreading outwards are clear to be seen on the surface. This was close to the port and emergency services were on the scene for a long period before the eventual total sinking which clearly could not have been long after this video. Fearful calamity for the environment and local populations.

Video: 47m superyacht Navis One destroyed by fire in Greece

The 46.7-metre Gentech superyacht Navis One has sunk after catching fire in Greece, with 22 people safely evacuated.

The luxury charter yacht (pictured above before the blaze), which was delivered in 2014, caught fire while cruising in the Cyclades island group on Tuesday evening (9 October 2023), before sinking in the early hours of Wednesday.

Local media reports that witnesses watched the yacht’s stern ablaze around 8pm local time, with police arriving on the scene shortly after. By 9pm, flames had spread to the top two levels of the yacht, fanned by strong breezes.

The coastguard arrived before midnight, and the yacht was doused with water overnight before it began to list and eventually sink.

Witness reports observed large pieces of debris in the ocean near the accident site. According to local media, the yacht was carrying ten passengers and 12 crew, who were all safely evacuated to shore. No injuries have been reported.

According to charter listings, Navis One features exterior design by Uniellé Yacht Design, interior design by Ales Bratina and naval architecture by Meccano Engineering. The steel and aluminium yacht could accommodate up to 12 guests across five cabins, and a crew of 10.

The fire aboard Navis One is the latest in a number of recent yacht blazes. In September, AUS$10 million cruiser  Andiamo — owned by the billionaire family of late winemaker Bob Oatley — was destroyed by flames in Sydney’s Woolwich Dock.

In August, 17 people were rescued from the luxury yacht  Irmao , as the 88-foot vessel was engulfed in flames.  The incident occurred off the beach of Es Cavall d’En Borràs in the Ses Salines Natural Park, Formentera.

The same month, two people cruising in Traverse Bay, Michigan, were forced to jump into the water after their boat burst into flames.

She was built to MCA and RINA compliance.

With exceptional interior volume, NAVIS ONE is an ideal cruiser perfect for exploration. She can comfortably accommodate 10 guests across five luxury staterooms. Luxury yacht NAVIS ONE (ex Queen Anne) was a 46.50m (152' 7") motor yacht from Gentech Yachts in collaboration with SorayaYachts. This super yacht was the epitome of contemporary craftsmanship and modern comfort, designed for the ultimate charter experience. She was able to accommodate up to 12 guests in six staterooms looked after by a crew of ten. Unfortunately, she was destroyed in a fire in 2023.

EXTERIOR NAVIS ONE offers guests superb deck spaces across her three levels. The sun deck plays host to the forward jacuzzi surrounded by a generous selection of sun pads. There is a central lounge area boasts two u-shaped sofas opposite each other, one to starboard and one to port and can be covered by a soft bimini. The aft space on the sun deck is dedicated to the full bar and dining area, plus a selection of free-standing sun loungers.

The upper deck aft is a flexible space with a selection of free-standing furniture which can be configured as a lounge or dining for larger groups.

On the main deck aft guests will find a quieter, covered lounge space which is perfect for watching over friends and family as they enjoy the water sports from the swim platform below.

INTERIOR The yacht's exterior is ultra-modern yet beautifully elegant, with an impressive and purposeful naval appearance. Her spacious layout is comfortable and ideal for holidays with families and friends as well as for special events. The central spiral staircase allow for stylish movement between decks.

The upper deck salon offers fabulous views, a bar, lounge and dining spaces and is perfect for less formal or smaller gatherings. Forward on the upper deck is the bridge and captain’s accommodation.

NAVIS ONE Specifications

The main salon on the main deck provides a more formal space where guests can gather for drinks and dinner around the 12-seater dining table. To port on the upper deck is the well-equipped galley while the starboard side gives access to the main deck master suite.

The additional guest accommodation plus generous comfortable crew quarters are on the lower deck.

Yacht Accommodation

Guests will love the spacious, comfortable staterooms all luxuriously furnished and benefitting from great views. The master suite is situated forward on the main deck and as well as the huge bed the quiet, elegant stateroom offers an owners office, walk-in wardrobe, lounge space, vanity area and his and hers ensuite bathrooms. The two stunning VIP staterooms on the lower deck ensure guests can be guaranteed a private haven. The suites feature king-sized beds, full lounge spaces (which can be converted into fold out beds), vanity/desk options and exceptionally sizable ensuite bathroom facilities. Aft of the VIP staterooms are two twin cabins, which are a lovely size and feature a pullman bunk, cool stylish décor and ensuite bathrooms.
