60's classic Capella C gets new explorer look from ER Yacht Design

ER Yacht Design has revealed the redesign of 59 metre classic superyacht Capella C for a London based client. The design company, founded by renowned yacht designer Ivan Erdevicki , has come up with a design that will turn the 60's classic yacht into a functional explorer yacht capable of cruising to the remotest parts of the world.

Capella C was originally built in 1968 as a pilot vessel by the Scheepsbouwwerf Gebroeders Pot yard in the Netherlands. In 1985 she was converted into a luxury yacht and in 2008 underwent a refit. This latest design marks another change for Capella C .

ER Yacht Design have retained the original classic shape of the steel hull but redesigned the shape of the steel superstructure to increase the size of the accommodation. The integrated design also features a new full size helicopter deck – an integral feature of any explorer yacht .

The well-considered design of the exterior decks also allows space for two 8 metre tenders. There is an observation area on the fly-bridge while the rest of the outside space leaves options for entertaining, dining or relaxing.

The interior includes a full beam owner’s suite, en suite guest cabins and two saloons. Capella C already has triple 600 horsepower Deutz diesel-electric engines that give her a range of 4,500 nautical miles at 13 knots.

“The primary objective was to modernise the classic yacht and enhance the existing beautiful lines so that the new expedition yacht looks most graceful and recognisable in any marina or anchorage,” comments ER Yacht Design. “The new form enhances the hull’s classic shear-line and achieves an attractive look that will never be outdated.”

Scheepswerf Gebroeders Pot 58 meter motor yacht CAPELLA C is now offered for sale with SuperYachts Monaco . Her latest refit was in 2017, which entailed full modernization, and has led to amongst others: more deck space and upgrades in her equipment.   

She was built in steel by Scheepswerf Gebroeders Pot in 1968, after an exterior design and naval architecture by the Dutch Royal Navy. This expedition vessel is powered by triple 600Hp Deutz diesel engines, which allow a cruising speed of 10 knots and a maximum speed of 13 knots. Her cruising range is 4500 Nautical miles.  

Her spacious interior can accommodate up to 22 guests across 12 staterooms. Furthermore, her capability of serving as a scientific vessel for research is facilitated through the possibility of accommodating up to 14 crew members on board. CAPELLA C  is built for long-range cruising in optimal comfort, with all luxury on board that you can imagine.

The 193.57ft Conversion expedition motor yacht ‘Capella C’ was built by Scheepsbouwwerf Gebr in Netherlands, she was delivered to her owner in 1968 and last refitted in 2008. Previously named Capella,

Accommodation Capella C’s interior configuration has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 22 guests overnight in 12 cabins, comprising a master suite, She is also capable of carrying up to 17 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Construction & Dimensions Capella C features a displacement steel hull and steel superstructure, with teak decks. She was built to Lloyds Register classification society rules.

Motor yacht Capella C is equipped with an ultra-modern stabilization system which reduces roll motion effect and results in a smoother more enjoyable cruising experience underway.

Performance Powered by 3 Deutz (BF8M1015MC) 599hp diesel-electric engines and propelled by her single screw propeller Motor yacht Capella C is capable of a top speed of 13 knots, and comfortably cruises at 11 knots. With her 100,000 fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,500 nautical miles at 11 knots. Her water tanks store around 85,000 litres of fresh water.

Presented for sale in impeccable condition, CAPELLA C’s reinvention as an explorer yacht saw her retain her classic 60’s profile with the addition of a host of modern features ensuring she is capable of circumnavigating the world in complete comfort.

Her latest refit was carried out in 2017 and included the addition of a full size helicopter deck plus a redesign of her exterior decks with space to carry two 9-metre tenders.

Managed by a professional crew of 14, CAPELLA C is capable of cruising to the remotest parts of the world in style and has previously hosted guests including members of the British Society and H.S.H. the Prince Rainier III of Monaco.

Fully equipped for use as a scientific vessel for research longline cruises, the sale of CAPELLA C represents a unique opportunity to purchase an explorer yacht with unlimited worldwide cruising potential.

Designed by the Royal Dutch Navy, CAPELLA C was built at Boele’s Sheepswerfen shipyard in Holland and launched in 1968. Built to Lloyds Register classification society rules, she was repurposed as a yacht in 1985 and was completely refitted in 2017 with the addition of a full-size helipad.

Powered by triple Deutz-MWM diesel electric engines, CAPELLA C has an impressive maximum cruising range of 4500 nautical miles at 10 knots with a top speed of 14 knots. Equipped with a full displacement hull, she has a gross tonnage of 902.0 GT and a 10.6 m beam.

Fully modernised during her last refit, CAPELLA C’s expansive exterior decks include a full-size helipad aft with raised storage for two 8m tenders. Forward of the helipad is an observation area on the flybridge with a choice of outdoor lounge and dining areas on the lower decks plus easy access to the water via the fold-down transom door.

With accommodation for up to 22 guests onboard overnight, CAPELLA C’s staterooms can be found on the lower and main decks. Her sumptuous full-beam owner’s suite is located forward on the upper deck and features a private lounge area, a full ensuite bathroom and a large walk-in wardrobe.

Pairing long-range cruising with premium comfort, CAPELLA C has multiple living areas where guests can relax after a long day exploring the world’s most remote destinations.

On the main deck you’ll find a vast salon with a full wet bar plus a formal dining room for up to 12 guests. An additional lounge/dining room can be found adjacent to the master suite on the upper deck and can be privatised to create an owner's deck when cruising.

From 12 to 17 March, two of the Group fleet’s most successful yachts will be presented as absolute premieres for the Russian market: motor yacht Ferretti 530, representing Ferretti Yachts , and the 27-foot Iseo superyacht tender by Riva .

This year’s Moscow Boat Show will also offer the Ferretti Group the opportunity to announce all yachting enthusiasts in Russia and Northern Eurasia a new important achievement in its international growth: the renewal of its exclusive dealership agreement for the Russian Federation with its partner Premium Yachts , one of the leading dealers operating in the boating sector in Russia , which will represent the Ferretti Yachts , Pershing , Itama , Bertram , Riva e Mochi Craft and Ferretti Custom Line brands.

The agreement – which was officially announced today during a press conference attended, among others, by Ferruccio Rossi (Ferretti Group’s CEO), Alexey Kurochkin (Premium Yachts’s President), and Stefano Campanelli (Sales Manager for the EMEA area for Ferretti Yachts, Pershing, Itama, Bertram, Riva, Mochi Craft and Ferretti Custom Line) – is part of Ferretti Group’s strategy for a further expansion on the European markets offering the best short/medium-term growth perspectives, also thanks to the financial soundness regained following the strategic partnership forged with the Weichai Group.

More specifically, the Russian boating market holds a great potential for the Ferretti Group’s development because of the rapid growth of average wealth among the population and an increasing interest for Made in Italy luxury goods, like Ferretti Group yachts.

Through the renewal of the agreement with Premium Yachts, the Group will further strengthen its highly selected distribution network – which currently includes approximately 60 dealers ensuring the best possible customer care in more than 80 countries worldwide – as well as its presence in the traditional EMEA ( Europe , Middle East , Africa ) area, one of the three macro-regions (besides the America and the Asia-Pacific) into which the Group’s sales structure is divided.

Moreover, in a medium/long-term perspective, the Ferretti Group is expecting an increasing interest on the Russian market not only for flying bridge yachts above 70’ in length, but also towards smaller crafts, both flybridge and open/coupé ones, which are particularly suitable for river cruising or pleasure boating in Russia’s large lakes. Consequently, the renewal of the dealership agreement with Premium Yachts also allows to look ahead at the future aiming to conquer new market segments where less competitors are currently present in terms of both products and geographic location.

The press conference, which was held today at the Lotte Hotel in Moscow, had also the objective of introducing attending journalists and yachting enthusiasts to the main new products launched by the Ferretti Group over the last few months, namely: motor yacht Ferretti 870 , Ferretti 690 yacht , and the project of the new flagship Ferretti 960 superyacht for the Ferretti Yachts brand; luxury yacht Pershing 82 ’ and superyacht Pershing 108’ New Edition for Pershing; Riva 63’ Virtus and the project of the new Riva flagship, 122’ Mythos yacht , as well as the entire range of the Itama, Bertram and Mochi Craft brands.

The yachts launched over the last few months by CRN – the Group’s brand specialising in the construction of steel and aluminium yachts between 40 and 90 metres – were also presented during the conference: the two superyachts: CRN superyacht Jade (60 metres long) and CRN mega yacht Chopi Chopi (80 metres long), the latter being one of the largest pleasure vessels ever built in Italy and the largest one ever built by the Ancona-based shipyard.
