Moonbird is a custom sailing yacht launched in 2003 by Fitzroy Yachts in New Plymouth, New Zealand and most recently refitted in 2009.

46 MORGAN 462 KETCH, 1981 - "MOONBIRD" is for sale and located in the Marshall Islands - READY TO CRUISE!

"Moonbird" is an absolutely beautiful Morgan 462 Ketch located in the Marshall Islands; some of the finest cruising waters in the world!  She has been exquisitely kept by her attentive owners and is fully fitted to take you anywhere.  Everything you need to cruise is already there and in excellent condition.  Her wide 13' 6" beam is carried well forward enabling an astounding amount of living space in her smartly designed floorplan and makes her well suited for accommodations of up to 6 adults among three berths.  "Moonbird" was the last of the Morgans built before the company was acquired by Catalina Yachts and therefore her hull was built with extra think fiberglass.  The modified fin keel draws 6' 6", she has a skeg protected rudder, corded decking, and keel stepped masts. 

Living accommodations include the owner’s stateroom aft, spacious v-berth with removable center cushion, and a queen-sized pull out settee.  "Moonbird" has two heads, each equipped with Raritan PH II toilet and stainless steel sink.  The aft head has a full bathtub and shower while the forward head has a pull out faucet for showers.  Amidship to port is a large utility work space complete with pull out drawers and cabinetry for tools and maintenance items and a fully outfitted navigation station with Lowrance GPS, Standard Horizon VHF with AIS & DSC, ICOM 802 HF radio, and Pactor modem for integration with a laptop computer.  Amidship starboard is a galley sure to make any cruiser envious and is equipped with a Force 10 three burner stove with safety bars, oven and broiler, propane shut-off valve, deep double basin stainless steel sink, microwave, foldout prep station, spice rack, dry locker and provision drawer under the Technautics Cool Blue freezer (4 cu ft.) and refrigerator (4 cu ft.). An added pull out shelve and drawers for cooking items was added by the owners.  Forward of the galley is a beautifully crafted wrap around dinette with folding table and double settee that converts into a very comfortable double berth while underway!  Her entire cabin is trimmed in a very tasteful turquoise pallet with coordinating tile in the galley that compliments the woodwork beautifully.

  For extended voyages "Moonbird" is loaded with all the features serious cruisers desire including 11 GPH Village Marine modular Little Wonder water maker to keep the large 110 gallon water tank topped off, 11 gallon water heater, a custom made hard dodger with fishing rod holders, solar and wind power systems to compliment the high capacity 7.6 kW Westerbeke generator, and an air compressor with hookah regulator for diving on her hull. Her electrical system also includes a Magnum 3000 inverter, Charles Marine 80 amp battery charger, and 6 battery house bank with additional dedicated batteries to the engine, windlass, and generator, and an auxiliary Honda 2000 portable generator.

The cockpit is outfitted with Lewmar winches, Garhauer traveler for the mainsheet, Garhauer cars and blocks, #16 winch on the cockpit coaming for the Bamar roller furler line, and a Garhauer hoist on the aft deck.  All lines run neatly back to the cockpit making her not only a pleasure to sail but safe when the seas kick-up.  At the helm she has a Raritan rudder position indicator, Interphase forward scanning sonar, Furuno chartplotter integrated with radar, CPT autopilot, Ritchie compass, and a folding H&L cockpit table.  The turquoise theme carries onto her deck with c-cushions in the cockpit and matching sail covers and canvas.

The Moonbird was built in 2003 by Fitzroy, and was refitted in 2013. This extensive refit saw a more powerful carbon rig added to the sloop sail yacht’s design, and the overall exterior design is the work of Dubois. A marble shower room is just one of the interior highlights, with Rhoades Young utilizing high quality furnishings and finishes to create a decadent feel, perfect for any charter yacht experience.

The vessel measures 121.88/37.15-meters, and sleeps up to 6 guests in its 3 rooms. The rooms include a master suite, 2 twin cabins and 2 Pullman beds, each offering a comfortable and contemporary place to relax after long days at sea.

The superyacht has deck speakers, as one of a number of entertainment amenities, so is the ideal charter yacht for entertaining friends and family. Underwater lights add an attractive and modern feel.

The Moonbird has a cruising speed of 10 knots and a maximum speed of 13 knots, offering guests a smooth cruise for all on board.

Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta - competing yachts for sale

The Mediterranean's most prestigious yachting event, the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, takes place in Porto Cervo, Italy, from 3 to 7 June, 2014. Organised by Boat International Media and the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, the regatta draws many of the world's most prominent sailing yachts for four days of competitive racing accompanied by a fun social calendar. Several of the yachts in competition are for sale or charter, and here we present five fine examples on the market.

Designed by Dubois Naval Architects the 37m sailing yacht Moonbird (ex- Midnight ) was built by New Zealand yard Fitzroy Yachts with a launch in 2003. Particular attention has been paid to the deck layout, which includes two expansive cushioned seating areas, one on the aft deck and the other forward of the mast, with the additional benefit of sunpads.

She has a pilothouse bar, lower saloon and dining room and boasts accommodation for eight guests in three cabins including a full width master suite plus two twin cabins, each with a Pullman berth and all cabins have en suite bathroom facilities.

Moonbird yacht is currently for sale and is listed on boatinternational.com by Y.CO and McMaster Yachts asking €9,850,000.

Pegaso in Italy is offering the fast 30.26m sailing yacht Cape Arrow for sale asking 6.9 million.

Built by Southern Wind Shipyard with naval architecture by Farr Yacht Design and styling and interiors by Nauta Design , she was launched in 2011 as hull No 3 in the SW 100 series Cape Arrow was built to a very high specification, including a High Modulus carbon mast and carbon rigging, and offers excellent performance, comfort and elegance.

She is the raised saloon model in the sreies and can accommodate up to eight guests in four cabins a master suite, VIP double and two twin cabins. Ideal for blue water cruising and enjoyable races, she is MCA coded with a very good reputation in the international charter market.

She is in immaculate condition, and this high-performance sailing yacht won the SWS Trophy at the 2012 Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta.

The 24.42m sailing yacht Selene was launched by Nautor's Swan in 2000 and is available for charter through Y .CO at rates of 27,500 per week in high season and 25,000 per week in low season. Refitted in 2009, her interior has a relaxed, 'beach house' styling sleeping six guests in a master suite plus a double and a twin.

She has placed well in regattas around the world and offers guests a thrilling, unforgettable experience. Water toys include a tender, snorkeling gear and fishing tackle.

Fraser Yachts has the 24m aluminium performance sailing yacht Drumfire for sale asking 2.4 million. Built by Dutch specialist yard Bloemsma to a design by A ndre Hoek, she was launched in 2006 and had a refit in 2012. She features a classic two cockpit layout, offering space and privacy for owners and guests especially when moored stern-to. The aft cockpit is dedicated to steering and sailing gear while further forward the centre cockpit is intended for socialising. Below, a timeless interior design has panelling throughout in semi-gloss Swetenia mahogany and flooring in jetobo with maple inlays.

Seven guests are accommodated in three staterooms consisting of an owner's cabin aft with a double berth to port and a single berth to starboard. There are also two guest cabins forward of the saloon, one with a full double berth and one with upper and lower berths. All cabins have en suite bathroom facilities.

Drumfire amply proved her racing credentials by winning the 2011 Palma Superyacht Cup.

Edmiston & Company and Pegaso are jointly listing the the 24m sailing yacht Matelot for sale asking 2,795,000. Launched in 2005, she is the second yacht built by South African S outhern Wind Shipyard from the successful SW80 deck saloon series. M atelot successfully blends the naval architecture of F arr Yacht Design with the elegant Italian styling of N auta Design, who created the general concept of the project, the exterior styling and the interior design.

The main saloon, with wraparound panoramic windows, is a favourite location aboard. The owner and his guests may relax sitting on the comfortable settees, enjoying the high-quality finish of the renowned Southern Wind Shipyards joinery. Six guests are accommodated in a master suite and two twin staterooms.

She has an elegant interior by Rhoades Young Design which features polished mahogany timber, exquisite European fabrics, French upholstery and customised carpets. The master cabin is full width with en-suite marble shower room. The two twin guest cabins, with pullman berths (suitable for children) each have en-suite shower rooms. MOONBIRD can accommodate 8 guests only if two are small children - otherwise she's very comfortable for 6.

Charter Amenities and Extras

Luxury sailing yacht MOONBIRD is equipped with a Nautica Jet tender, water skis, donuts, a Banana and a Kayak. She also has an extensive range of televisions, DVD and audio equipment throughout the vessel including surround sound and cockpit and deck speakers.
