Yacht Club of America – Reciprocal Privileges

The Process of Reciprocity:

Yacht Club Reciprocity is defined as “A network of Yacht Clubs in agreement for the mutual exchange of privileges within that specific group of clubs.” The Yachting Club of America has reciprocal privilege agreements with nearly 800 Yacht Clubs throughout the United States.

Although the extent of privileges may vary slightly, generally, an YCA yachtsman can expect to be allowed to use all of the welcoming clubs’ available facilities and services, including short term berthing, meal and bar service, heads and showers, etc.

Typically, a yachtsman can stop at a Yacht Club along his trip, and if the club visited is a YCA member, they are granted access.

All member clubs generally grant access to the bar and restaurant area as well as short term berthing, heads and showers, but depending on the club size and stature, various reciprocal rights are granted depending on the club's policy.

It is always prudent to call ahead to let them know you’re coming as well as to determine what services are available.

Great for lunch and casual dinners. Step back into time in this 1950's style yacht club. As with most yacht clubs the bar is usually filled with it's regular customers, but if you squeeze in, you will find friendly acceptance and good conversations. Thursday night is Lobster Night, (Kona Lobsters) flown in from the Big Island for the event. So, you must preorder several days before to assure your lobster(s.) Many off Island visitors from other YC memberships visit this but the locals predominate on Thursday nights. Big parties for Halloween, St. Patrick's day, New Years Eve have waiting list for members...so good luck for those special events.

If you are a yacht cub member, you are welcomed by a friendly staff and local members that are very welcoming. Awesome location and the view from the dining area cannot be beat. Gret

We always make a stop or two to the club as we have many friends from here and our membership at the St. Francis Y.C. has receptacle benefits. good cocktails and Po Po's

February/March is the right time to see the whales in action, mating time so they're up and busy playing around. It's a hit and miss to be honest, some boats got lucky to be right in the action while ours wasn't so lucky, we were distance away where we see the tales or the splash from their tail. It was fun but not sure if I'd go again afraid we'd be unlucky again.

We went with a party of 10 to the yacht Club. A member must be with you in order to eat at this restaurant. It is situated right on the water and has a Fineview for sunsets. The wide variety of fishpreparations were outstanding. We had a fine meal and very good customer service.

Wildfires on the Hawaiian island of Maui have killed over 90 people, and that number keeps increasing. More than 250 buildings in historic Lahaina Town have been destroyed which includes Lahaina Yacht Club on Front Street.

The fires started August 8 and fanned out across the island, growing in size and destructive power. It became national news as Hawaii declared a state of emergency on August 9, with aerial video showing the devastation.

As the co-host of the biennial Victoria to Maui International Yacht Race , Lahaina Yacht Club has been home to members and visitors since 1965. Here is a message from LYC Commodore Dave Schubert :

I write this with pure sorrow. Our beloved Lahaina Yacht Club and Lahaina Town has been devastated. The entire town of Lahaina and our home is gone and now just ash and rubble. What you are seeing in the news is probably accurate but just a small part of our reality. No power, water, etc… but we are an amazing community.

The people here are resilient. I have received many emails from reciprocal clubs across the country offering support and I want to assure that we will strive to rebuild, rebound, and come back better. We love and appreciate all of the heartfelt sentiments and support across the country.

To those amazing Commodores sharing such respect and support, I will absolutely share those caring messages after I get my/our lack of housing in check. To date quite a few of us Commodores, Past Commodores, and Board Members are now without homes. I do ultimately believe it will take all of us to be involved in rebuilding and all will commit to our future commitment to LYC.

Without hesitation, I am far more afraid for our general membership and their well-being. This town has so many amazing people. We are Lahaina Strong and most importantly we need to look out for the health and well-being of our families, friends, and membership and all those we love.

I hope this all makes sense. I am shedding tears as I write it. Lahaina Yacht Club and our strength has always been our family approach, our strength at its finest. Love and support to Lahaina and LYC.
