Island Girl yacht is a 44.00 ft long sailboat catamaran and spends the summer in Belize and winter season in Belize. It was built by Lagoon in 2006. The yacht layout features 4 cabins and accommodates 6 guests. The cabin arrangement is following: 4 queen cabins.

The sailboat features Dual engines and a generator.

High season rate: $15,190

Rate includes all meals, standard bar with local rum, beer, House wines (Chilean/Argentinian wines - 1 bottle per person per day), juices and soft drinks, fuel and airport pickup on arrival day. Check in at the marina is between noon and 3pm. Rates exclude 10% tax, pickup or drop off in other locations, Guatemala entry/exit fees, rendezvous diving, ASA courses, gratuity, meals or purchases onshore. One Way Pickup or Drop Off in San Pedro/Caye Caulker $500 each way; Placencia $700 each way. 4 night minimum year round, except Christmas/New Year which is 7 night minimum. Holiday rates are based on the 6 pax rate and incur a 10% holiday premium.

Captain: Dave Underill

Captain Dave Underill The ocean is Captain Dave's playground and life, having been fortunate to begin sailing Hobie cats as a child and moving on to own monohull yachts and then Lagoon catamarans, which were his homes and livelihoods in the charter world. Dave is an outgoing people person, having worked in the very 'face to face' profession of Optometry before moving on to captaining charters in amazing destinations including the British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, the Turks and Caicos, Mexico, Guatemala and now Belize.    In addition to sailing the azul Belize waters, Dave has some interesting and fun accolades under his belt, including being the co-author of "The Captain's Guide to Hurricane Holes of the Caribbean and Bahamas", completing the Hawaiian Ironman and being named top beach guard lifeguard in Florida. With Captain Dave, you can always be assured of safety, experience, adventure and fun!" First Mate Ellen Nicholas Ellen is an island resident of Caye Caulker and a warm and gracious host, chef and 1st mate. Ellen has been in the hospitality industry for many years and brings her passion for gourmet food and elegant service to Belize Sailing Vacations. Ellen is also a health and yoga enthusiast, so if you are looking for ways to work off the delicious cuisine she can certainly assist!

Island Girl

Island Girl is a 2008 32’ Offshore Catamaran designed and built by Ocean Express. With two world championships on their list of accomplishments, Ocean Express has been involved in the offshore racing industry over the last 40 years, building boats for Budweiser and Benihana as well as other companies. Utilizing key design and technology elements from these offshore racing boats, Ocean Express diversified and began building offshore catamarans for a wide variety of boaters. 

A catamaran with multi-stepped hulls and surface piercing technology is a fast, stable, and efficient boat that rides on top of the waves and is flat in turns. With a dry weight of less than 5500lbs, Island Girl is less than half the weight and up to 40% more fuel efficient than similarly sized power catamarans and monohull boats.

In 2019, Island Girl underwent a complete restoration and was repurposed as a day charter boat. Everything is new - everything.   We have added additional seating as well as more shaded areas. We added a Fusion audio system with over 2000 watts and 10 speakers. Brand new engines, instrumentation, trim tabs, anchor windlass, and safety equipment as well.

Winds of Destiny is a 1983 60' Morgan Schooner, 1 of 12 built, with 3 sails (fore and aft main sails and a jib). Her ample deck space and full galley make her a very comfortable platform for your day on the water.

Wanting to hit the high seas whilst holidaying in Tobago? Look no further then than the Island Girl catamaran; one of Tobago's chief attractions!

Spacious enough that it will never feel crowded, the catamaran offers the perfect location to kick back and enjoy a cold beer whilst enjoying the tranquil azure waters of the Caribbean. Offering both day and sunset cruises, the choice is yours as to what time you'd rather sail, but both offer entirely different experiences.

For families and those wanting a taste of adventure, why not head on the day cruise? Taking its patrons up to Cotton Bay (only accessible by boat), here you can enjoy snorkelling (where reef fish, stingrays and perhaps turtles and dolphins are all present), swimming, sunbathing and a lunch of fish (caught on route), jerk chicken and salad. Drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are also included within the price. Most expenses are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund that is added on top of the charter price. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled). memories of Tobago we will never forget it was a blessing to meet David, see and experience Tobago thru his eyes. we were a group of 6, and David made it super easy to customize a 10 hour tour, and everyone in our group loved the tour. he picked us up at the hotel, reviewed the itinerary, and our adventure began. our goal was to see the the whole Island, visit Argyle Falls, go for a swim, have lunch at the Hummingbird sanctuary, and hopefully experience a few hidden gems too. well we certainly weren't disappointed, in terms of what we saw, and throughout the entire tour, David would share his knowledge with us, and answered all of our questions. the van was comfortable, it was well stocked with water and rum puncheon, and the lunch we had was Michelin star worthy, with hummingbirds flying by ..... throughout the day, David took pictures and videos, which he shared with us and next time we go to Tobago, or Trinidad, we can hopefully book another tour with David.

Dawn to Dusk chasing waterfalls in Tobago This tour was absolutely amazing. I requested a waterfall, nature, hiking tour and that's exactly what I got. David from Island Girl Tours was a wealth of knowledge and kept the tour very interesting and informative. Chased 6 waterfalls, had lunch with hummingbirds, walked in a mangrove and hiked through a lush green forest, ended my 12 hr day at the beach with a beautiful sunset. Food, snacks and drinks were all included on my tour and as a solo female traveller I felt very safe and secure. I would highly recommend touring with David aka (the best barefoot tour guide) from Island Girl Tours, I left Tobago with a full heart.

Police suspect U.S. couple are dead after their boat was hijacked in the Caribbean

The yacht "Simplicity", that officials say was hijacked by three escaped prisoners with two people aboard, is docked at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coastguard Service Calliaqua Base, in Calliaqua, St. Vincent, on Friday.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — A U.S. couple whose catamaran was hijacked last week in the Caribbean by three escaped prisoners were presumed dead and likely had been thrown into the ocean, police said Monday.

The accounts by police in Grenada and in St. Vincent and the Grenadines were a blow to those who were independently helping search for Ralph Hendry and Kathy Brandel and had hoped they were alive.

Don McKenzie, commissioner of the Royal Grenada Police Force, said at a news conference that the three prisoners escaped on Feb. 18 from the South Saint George Police Station. They hijacked the catamaran Simplicity on the following day and then headed to St. Vincent, where they were arrested last Wednesday, he said.

"Information suggests that while traveling between Grenada and St. Vincent, they disposed of the occupants," McKenzie said.

McKenzie said he had no conclusive proof that the couple was dead but cited a "low probability" they were alive.

Hours later, the main spokesman for the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force posted a video saying that while no bodies have been found, the couple is presumed dead based on the investigation so far.

Police report signs of violence aboard the abandoned boat

The suspects were being investigated for several criminal acts, including "bodily harm to the couple," spokesman Junior Simmons said in the brief recorded statement. There were signs of violence on the couple's boat found abandoned in St. Vincent, he said.

"Several items were strewn on the deck and in the cabin, and a red substance that resembles blood was seen on board," he said.

The nonprofit Salty Dawg Sailing Association has said that Hendry and Brandel were "veteran cruisers" and longtime members of the association, calling them "warm-hearted and capable."

It said the couple had sailed the yacht in last year's Caribbean Rally from Hampton, Virginia, to Antigua, and were spending the winter cruising in the eastern Caribbean.

A son of Hendry and a son of Brandel did not immediately return messages for comment.

A GoFundMe page created to raise money for the couple's family noted that Brandel had recently become a first-time grandmother, and that the sailing community was "shattered" by what happened.

"Kathy and Ralph, experienced adventurers, spent their retirement sailing aboard Simplicity, spending summers in New England and embracing the warmth of Caribbean winters," the page stated.

McKenzie, Grenada's police commissioner, said a five-person team was sent to St. Vincent to help with the investigation.

After his brief announcement on Monday, McKenzie and other police officials took questions from local media, including one reporter who asked, "Who is really to be blamed for this massive failure to keep these prisoners under the control of the (Royal Grenada Police Force) which has now resulted in this tragedy?"

The prisoners' escape is being investigated

McKenzie said police have launched an investigation into the escape and are looking into whether it was "a system failure" or a case of a "slip up."

"All aspects of that investigation are on the table," he said, adding that the police holding station where the three men were being held has "sufficient safety to prevent an incident like that (from) occurring."

When the reporter asked why the three men who were arrested remained in a holding cell instead of prison, Vannie Curwen, assistant police commissioner, said the men first had to see a magistrate who would decide whether to grant bail or order them remanded.

The escaped prisoners, Trevon Robertson, a 19-year-old unemployed man; Abita Stanislaus, a 25-year-old farmer; and Ron Mitchell, a 30-year-old sailor; were charged a couple of months ago with one count of robbery with violence. Mitchell also was charged with one count of rape, three counts of attempted rape and two counts of indecent assault and causing harm, police in Grenada said.

Simmons said the three men appeared in court in St. Vincent on Monday and pleaded guilty to four counts each of immigration-related charges, including entering the island as a "prohibited immigrant" with no passport. They are scheduled to be sentenced on those charges in March.
