Description

At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your hotel to commence our tour. During the journey, we'll make a brief stop, allowing you to stretch your legs or enjoy a quick coffee. Following this break, we'll proceed to Bayahibe, where we'll board a catamaran bound for our destination: Saona Island , nestled within the Cotubanamá National Park .

We'll have fun and dance to traditional music throughout our cruise, enjoy lively interactions with our onboard guides, and revel in the vibrant atmosphere. With an open bar stocked with water, soft drinks, and the renowned Dominican rum  everybody is bound to have an excellent time.

Upon arrival at Saona Island, we'll have a two-hour window to swim, unwind on the beach, and soak in the lively Dominican music. If you get hungry, you can enjoy a buffet lunch in an authentic thatched-roof location. This buffet includes a selection of fresh fish, meat, salads, rice with guandules , pasta, and tropical fruits, all accompanied by water and soft drinks.

After the fun, we'll return to the boat for the journey back. We'll take a scenic route around Las Palmillas Beach , known for its coconut trees and beautiful golden sand. We'll also have a stop to swim in crystal-clear natural sea pools, where you can see sea stars and fish , creating a colorful spectacle. Plus, you can continue enjoying the open bar onboard. It's a true party in paradise!

Finally, we'll reach the Bayahibe pier, commencing a roughly two-hour journey back to your hotel. Anticipate arriving back at your hotel after an 11 to 12-hour adventure.

The first European boat to dock at Saona was Christopher Columbus’ in 1494, and Saona has not ceased to amaze visitors for the last 500+ years! Saona is not a tiny off-shore key—the beach stretches as far as the eye can see. This quintessential Caribbean island serves up the quintessential Caribbean scenery, with ivory sands lined by rows of swaying palms.

Race to the island in a speedboat that includes a stop in a waist-deep natural swimming pool of transparent waters. If you're lucky, you may even see some starfish! The tour description claimed we would travel through “exotic landscapes” and “small villages”…in reality the route was basically along a few dirt roads among some small farms…nice enough but certainly not exotic….we passed a few small houses but nothing special in terms of really getting a flavor of typical Dominican life. The first stop was an absolute tourist trap…it was described as a special place to learn about coca and coffee…the “demonstration” lasted less than 5 minutes and was nothing more than the presenter holding up a raw cocoa bean in the husk and then inviting us to sample some cocoa before turning us loose in the tourist shop. The staff of the tourist shop was extremely aggressive and the shop basically contained the normal junk you see everywhere. Along with the tourist shop the location had what was billed as a relaxing swimming spa…in reality it is just a man made lazy river going into a small pool that has been fabricated to look like it was a natural feature. The next stop of the tour was Macao Beach…that is a fabulous spot and should be on everyone’s list of places to go when visiting Punts Cana. Then back along the same roads to where we started. Our biggest issue with the excursion was that it was described as four hours in length. That was technically true (actually a little longer) but the 4 hours was from pickup at the hotel to drop off…it was approximately a 30 minute ride each way to/from the hotel…once we arrived at the buggy location it took about 30 minutes to get checked in and organized and after we returned it took another 30 minutes to wait for the truck to pick us up for the return to the hotel. The actual time driving the buggies was not more than 30 minutes…the bulk of the excursion was spent at the two stops (the first of which was completely ridiculous) and waiting around. Saw starfish and stingrays at the sand bar where we stayed for 30 minutes which was the best part. Very little to do on the island, but the food was good. Not sure why we stayed there for 2 hours because we sat on the beach chairs for most of the time anyways and were told not to explore until “after lunch” because the time was unknown. At the end, we were left with 20 minutes after lunch to explore. I fell asleep on the way back to punta cana because there was nothing else to do and after the stress of today we were exhausted. Lots of things were unknown. Bad communication on where to be picked up as well as during transportation as no one was organized. Please know you must download whatsapp to communicate with this company if you purchase. We got dropped off at a cafe for 45 minutes before being driven to a souvenir shop to stop for an additional 45 minutes before even getting on the final bus to take us to the marina. We were absolutely bombarded with vendors on the street and TONS on the actual island even after saying no multiple times. definitely killed the relaxing vibe and made our time more stressful. Very long 2 and a half hour ride back to punta cana (this is not specified in the description but please plan to spend upwards of 5 hours in a bus if you book this trip) The actual places were gorgeous but this service needs more organization and transparency when it comes to what they are actually offering. You will be solicited by street salesman to buy snorkeling gear before leaving on a boat, and they still never take you to a snorkel location. Instead you go to a sand bar in the ocean. The sand bar is fun but it is not snorkeling. Additionally, they promised an open bar but there was NO ALCOHOL. They only had sprite and coke. The catamaran trip was simply a 1 and a half hour trip back to the shore. People were literally sleeping because it was so dull. Open Bar is a LIE. 2 hour cramped can drive from punta cana. Pit stop at a sketchy market where I would never take my children. Finally head to destination. Wait around. Get solicited from every street salesman in the country. Wait more. If you still know where your group is then get on a speedboat to a sandbar. Sandbar is nice. Then get dropped off at island for 2 hours with nothing to do but sit around. Eat a buffet style food with everyone else from every different touring company. Food wasn’t bad. Then get dropped off at a beaten up catamaran for a long and sea sickening ride home. Once again no alcohol. Even the workers were asking for more money on the ride home. This is completely unacceptable. I was asked for a “tip” over 10 times. Once you get to shore, you have to actively locate your bus or you will get left behind. 2 hours back to punta cana. My boyfriend and I were picked up from the resort early in the morning. After a 15 minute drive we stopped at a gas station to pick up another couple. After being picked up from the gas station we stopped at this souvenir shop. When getting back in the van my boyfriend and I were told that we(just us two) weren’t getting back in the van. We then were just sitting at the souvenir shop with no explanation onto why WE were the only ones that weren’t getting back in the van. After a two hour wait multiple vans started to pop up and we got into another van. We then had an hour drive to the ships were we would get on to head to the island. However, we stood there for 2 hours again with no explanation of what was going on before getting on a speedboat. We then stop at the natural swimming pool which was the best part of the trip honestly. After spending an hour there we headed to Saona Island which took about another 35 minutes. We spent about 2 hours at Saona Island. There was no alcohol offered at the Island at all. The only thing to do at this island is to sit on the beach chairs(something you can more than likely do at your resort). The only thing to drink is Coca Cola and Sprite the entire time. You will more than likely be dehydrated after this excursion. We were told we were going to get on the Catamaran to head back however we got back on the speedboat to then get on the Catamaran. However, the guide spent about 15 minutes on the water trying to figure out which catamaran we were suppose to get on. You then had to climb from the speedboat to the catamaran. It then took an hour to get back to the mainland. After getting back we are standing around the tour guides are trying to figure out which van we need to get in. Takes about 1.5 hour to get back to the resort while dropping everyone back off to their resorts. We definitely felt exhausted, thirsty and hungry by the time we get back to our resort. We felt as if we missed out on an entire day. The next day I suffered from dehydration. Please DO NOT do this excursion. You will loose out on a full day of absolutely nothing but traveling. Before you go to any excursion in Punta Cana or Bahayibe check if your agency works with this boat company COSTA ROMÂNTICA (romantic coast). For me and my friends was NIGHTMARE COST, the worse excursion I have ever done in my life. In 12 hours we only spent around 2 in the island. The boat was very slow and the staff incredibly nasty and arrogant. The worse was the music, not only bad but extremely loud. Almost everybody was complaining about the absurd loud sound, but the crew was just ignoring. Was almost 3 hours to go and 3 to come back listening a very loud and poor quality sound. Costumer service and satisfaction was TOTALY ignored. It was suppose to be a relaxing Caribbean excursion, but instead was a torture. A boat terrible experience louder than a disco (and I love discos) The food in the island horrible and without higiene. And there is no Corona care at all in that place. So, AVOID any trip with this company, check before what boat company your promoter or agency travel will use and run away if it is this one. I cannot say if all the “Saona excursions” was like these, but we hated. The island is beautiful but not amazing for all this bad experience. If you really wanna visit I totaly recommend renting a private boa and bringing your own food. I had to pass trough 4 diferente bus on the pickup at the hotel, I was told I was going to go on fast boat on the morning and returned on Catamaran and it was exactly the contrary. We took 2h in a small Catamaran with lots of people and almost no drinks available, we stayed 20 min on the natural pools and then we docked in the worst place of the Island, in a small peace of land on the farest part of the Island, where there where only Javali boats and the food was awful in a place full of bees.On the return there was no seated places enough to every person on the speed boat and on the middle of the way, it had been said that there one motor was without gas and so we had to wait 40 min to a new boat that neither had places to everybody and we did not made the snorkeling activity we should have done. We spent about 3 hours getting to Saona on a catamaran - sounds romantic, but it was much more animal house than relaxing. The staff was pretty nice. They served cheap rum and cola and blasted music - very danceable music albeit - but way too loud. Then, we spent 2 hours on a beautiful beach that was ruined by way too many people and continuous requests to buy things from vendors. Lunch was OK. On the way back, they finally stopped at this glorious nature preserve where gorgeous, huge starfish lay on the bottom of the three foot deep, crystal clear water - but only for 15 minutes. Then, just when we thought the nightmare was over, they stopped again in the harbor for snorkeling. Had my husband not jumped in first and said there were a ton of fish, I would have just stayed on the boat in misery for the last 20 minutes of the trip. That was some of the best snorkeling I've seen - easy and tons of colorful fish.
