See What These Charter Guests Did That Made the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Crew Break Down in Tears

Read on to see how chief stew Daisy Kelliher, Captain Glenn, and the  Parsifal III  crew reacted to the final charter guests and the season’s last tip following their challenging stay.

The  Below Deck Sailing Yacht   crew dealt with a lot of stress during Season 4, from demanding guests with nonstop requests to a three-page primary guest preference sheet that had chef Ileisha Dell  making  a 10-course meal that extended past midnight .

Of course, nothing prepared us for the final charter guests of the season, who ultimately made stew Lucy Edmonds cry and Captain Glenn Shephard threaten to kick one of the guests off  Parsifal III .

The charter began with somewhat smooth waters, with the guests boarding the boat and enjoying some of Ileisha’s mouthwatering snacks.

Things began to take a turn, however, when the alcohol began flowing.

“These guests are drinking like water’s running out in the ocean,” chief stew Daisy Kelliher quipped in Season 4 Episode 16. “I just want normal nice guests [to] just enjoy the sea. But no — here we are.”

Scroll down to see how everything escalated from there:

The guests have one too many drinks and relationship drama ensues

A guest curses at the staff on Below Deck Sailing Yacht

After one of the guests, Randy, went to go lie down in the bedroom, his husband, Nic, came to check on him and get him water.

Randy wasn’t having it, however, and noted his displeasure. “F-ck you… I’m gonna be sick,” he stated, ostensibly getting sick off-screen.

Nic implored Randy to get back to bed, but Randy only seemed to become more upset, telling his husband to “leave [him] alone.”

The crew began to pick up on the relationship drama as Lucy and Mads Herrera brought the group’s clothing down to their rooms.

After a divisive conversation among the guests at dinner, Randy exclaimed, “Don’t ever try me again, bitch!”

Charter guest Todd then tried to get his boyfriend, Grant, away from the heat and away from the table. Lucy then alerted Glenn as Randy got up to go “talk” to the couple.

“Get out of the room [or] get off this boat!” Todd snapped. “This is  unbelievable  from you!”

As Randy walked into Todd and Grant’s room, Captain Glenn forced his way between the men and issued a warning.

“This is ridiculous,” Glenn said. “I’m telling you: The first moment I see anyone getting [aggressive] they will be getting off the boat. Keep that in mind when you talk to your friends. Are we clear on that?”

Then, after Randy responded, “There’s nothing to be clear about,” Glenn got more fired up: “Dude, you’re getting [aggressive] with me and you’re that [close] to getting off the boat!”

Charter guests argue with the crew during Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4

Finally, Daisy stepped in to fully de-escalate the situation: “Maybe it’s best to leave it for the morning when everyone calmed down and sobered up a bit.”

Phew! The crew ultimately enlisted Chase Lemacks to put his past bouncer days to work and stand in the cabin hallway until everyone went to sleep — just in case.

Lucy Edmonds breaks down after cleaning up “sick” and “sh-t”

Lucy on Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 Episode 17

After all the drama, the crew began to break, as it wasn’t just messy interpersonal conflict that had to be cleaned up, but messy room issues the interior was also tasked with handling.

Tending to their rooms, Lucy faced an unflushed toilet and a sink with traces of vomit that caused her to break down. “I may be a stewardess, I may be a maid… but I should  never  have to flush the toilet for grown-ass men. F-cking gross!” she exclaimed during a confessional.

She went on to call her father and cry to him about the situation. “I just want to go home,” she cried. “I want out of here, I’m done. I cleaned up sh-t, I’ve just cleaned up sick, like… I am done! I want to go home!”

Lucy shares her reaction to the charter guests’ tip

Lucy on Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 Episode 17

Following a difficult day and night of charter, the next part of the trip that took place on Episode 17 turned out quite breezy as the guests were able to enjoy their remaining time on the water.

Once they left the boat, however, their $17,000 tip wasn’t exactly favorable with the crew.

“Seventeen grand to flush your sh-t over and over… f-ck off,” Lucy quipped during a confessional, clearly not pleased with the tip.

“But… I’m definitely gonna stay positive because  it’s over !” she then joked, noting the end of the charter season for the  Parsifal III  crew.

Captain Glenn Shepherd on the Parsifal III on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4

Captain Glenn and the crew of the Parsifal III are back for another season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht . This time the yacht is setting sail in lovely Sardinia, Italy, and even though it's a beautiful location, don't expect calm seas. This season, anything can happen.

As the original Below Deck franchise wraps up its tenth season, Below Deck Sailing Yacht cruises into season 4 with the promise of picturesque landscapes and thrilling adventures, but the trailer hints at some trouble on board, and not just with the crew. Although, it looks like the Parsifal III has some challenges this season that puts Captain Glenn and the crew through their paces.

Here's everything we know about Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4.

Next episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4

Part two of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht season four reunion   airs Tuesday, July 18, at 8 pm ET/PT on Bravo. Catch the uncensored and extended Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion part two next day on Peacock.

We don't have a premiere date for the UK, but expect to see new episodes on Hayu once they're available.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 3: "The King is Back" "Capt. Glenn finally wakes up to some good news; the entire crew is invited to join the guests for dinner, and chef Ileisha must change her menu in the last minute."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 4: "Lazy Daisy" "Capt. Glenn remains committed to improving the guest experience by insisting a stew go on all excursions. Daisy is frustrated after learning she’s a stew down while the deck team goofed off on the eFoils. Chef Ileisha’s perfectionism is thrown off when she faces her greatest fear in the galley and enlists Colin’s help. Gary claims his territory as First Mate both with the ladies and on deck as he sets his eyes on Mads knowing his deckhands are interested in the same girl."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 5: "Hate Me Tender" "Daisy is overwhelmed with the high-maintenance guests and struggles to ask for help, so a request from Gary sends her over the edge; when a guest injury occurs on the water toys, Capt. Glenn goes into high alert."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 6: "Clash & Burn" "In an effort to turn the charter around, Capt. Glenn takes the guests on an epic sail. Lucy makes a grave mistake to a charter guest’s garment. After Chef Ileisha continues to leave the guests waiting too long between courses, Capt. Glenn gives her honest feedback in the tip meeting that pushes Daisy's defensive buttons. Colin defends Capt. Glenn’s comments as feedback and not critique, which only heightens Daisy’s frustrations."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 7: "Smoke on the Water" "Another engine issue emerges, forcing Capt. Glenn to modify the plan and keep the returning guests entertained. With all the uncertainty going on in the engine room, Capt. Glenn takes control and points out the crews’ mistakes. Daisy and Colin make up after their fight as their relationship grows stronger. Daisy confronts Gary about Mads and claims he’s playing his usual games. Tired of the drama, Chase plans a night of drunk Twister and hosts a surprising yoga session. "

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 8: "Cheers to Boobies" "After Chase confides in Gary about Alex’s lackluster work ethic, Chase’s trust is broken when Gary tells Alex about their conversation. The crew pull off talent show #2 for the returning guests and surprise themselves with their interesting skills. Chase has a little too much to drink, and he upsets some of the crew, pushing Lucy to lose it and her chair at dinner. Daisy and Colin get closer than ever as they share an unexpected kiss."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 9: "Love Boat" "Glenn dresses up for the guests' theme night; he hopes his participation helps correct a jewelry theft hiccup and is on top of his crew to make sure the women have the best trip of their lives."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 10: "Loose Lips Sink Friendships" "The crew has the day off, and even Capt. Glenn recharges by enjoying Parsifal III all to himself and riding the eFoil; Colin saves the day clearing the clogged toilets, but he gets jammed up when his honest opinion strikes a chord."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 11: "Let Them Eat Cake" "Capt. Glenn notices the standards are slipping on Parsifal lll as the crew is exhausted with the mid-season blues. Distraught that Colin and Gary aren’t speaking, Daisy takes initiative and forces them to hash out their problems. Gary’s confusing behavior has Mads confessing her feelings to Alex. Colin tries to forgive Daisy’s discretions, but she adds insult to injury after she drunkenly confuses him for Gary. On charter, after anchoring in their first destination, Parsifal lll nearly drags into a neighboring boat."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 12: "T-Bone with Stakes" "Capt. Glenn notices the crew is slipping on service when a guest is injured, and interior doesn’t hear the walkie call forcing Capt. Glenn to up the guest maintenance standards onboard. After Alex and Mads confess their feelings from the start, Mads is torn between Alex and Gary. Shaken after a close T-Bone with a nearby boat, Gary is confused when his advances to Mads aren’t being reciprocated."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 13: "Hurricane Bonnie" "Captain Glenn reprimands the crew as recent slip-ups are directly affecting communication and morale; Daisy breaks down when she's proven wrong about the walkies not working; Chef Ileisha is determined to prove she can complete a 10-course dinner."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 14: "Boat Load of Throuples" "Capt. Glenn threatens to kick one of the 'throuple' charter guests off Parsifal during a drunken guest fight. Mads receives a wake-up call that prompts her to dismiss Gary’s apology attempt and more seriously consider Alex leaving Gary with a stomach full of regret. Unhappy with Gary, Alex and Colin decide to follow their hearts instead."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 15: "Man Buns Has it Been Fun": "Proud of his team’s accomplishments during the final sail, Capt. Glenn believes his tough love made them all stronger. The crew celebrates their final night out and Daisy and Colin try to soak up every moment of it. Following tearless goodbyes, Capt. Glenn and Gary stay onboard Parsifal to pick up another charter season."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 cast

Captain Glenn Shepherd returns to helm the Parsifal III. This is his fourth season on the series, but he's no stranger to the ship. He's been helming the Parsifal III for over a decade.

Captain Glenn will be joined once again by Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher, first mate Gary King and engineer Colin MacRae.

New to the series are chef Ileisha Dell, stews Lucy Edmunds and Mads Herrera and deckhands Chase Lemacks and Alex Propson.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 plot

Bravo offered this synopsis of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 and it gives you a good sense of what's coming in the new season:

"Capt. Glenn and his comeback team Daisy Kelliher, Gary King and Colin MacRae resume their responsibilities aboard Parsifal III, along with new, dynamic crew members, as they set sail in Sardinia, Italy. Capt. Glenn realizes that his laid-back leadership style has allowed his crew to become too comfortable and starts taking charge of quality control in the interior department, much to Daisy's dismay.

"In the galley, Chef Ileisha’s cooking impresses the guests, but her indecisiveness and co-dependency lead to time-management issues between courses, which causes her to self-destruct. On deck, strong personalities collide, and a power struggle results in a near mutiny, as Gary clashes with his new overconfident deckhand, Chase.

"Two overlapping love triangles further complicate the dynamics on-board, and a shocking hookup puts Colin, Daisy and Gary’s friendship in jeopardy. With a near collision, fire, crew rebellion, gruesome guest injury and two different potentially season-ending engine failures, this is the most captivating and unpredictable season yet of Below Deck Sailing Yacht ."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans sound off on ‘Karen’ charter guests

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 has only just begun, but fans are already feeling it.

Aside from fan favorites Captain Glenn Shephard, Daisy Kelliher , and Colin MacRae being back in action, the charter guests did not disappoint.

However, these ladies give a whole new meaning to the word messy.

Daisy and stews Lucy Edmunds and Mads Herrera continuously picked up their cabins, including someone leaving blood-stained sheets.

That is why Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers have an issue with two of the guests, who had a couple of women named Karen in the group, literally complained about the trip.

Twitter was buzzing last night as Episode 2 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 played out.

It was the final episode of the charter, resulting in two of the women crying to Captain Glenn over “no towels” and “no toilet paper.”

One user picked a meme of Rachel from Friends to weigh in on the moment.

I know the trip was very disappointing, but is this lady really crying because missing toilet paper was the last straw?? #BelowDeckSailing pic.twitter.com/2p41eE1Oy8 — Erin Savage (@ErinSavage3722) April 18, 2023

A different Twitter user questioned why her complaining brought her to tears.

Why is this lady crying? #BelowDeckSailing #BelowDeckSailingYacht pic.twitter.com/k6ij0DssK3 — Channing (@JustChanning) April 18, 2023

There was even a Tweet that simply wrote, “That Karen on #BelowDeckSailingYacht #belowdecksailing.”

That Karen on #BelowDeckSailingYacht #belowdecksailing pic.twitter.com/vgrKeA9R1A — Vanderpumpies (@Vanderpumpies) April 18, 2023

Several Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers reacted to the guest declaring it was the “worst trip of my life.”

Holy hell. Really crying Karen, the worse trip of your life?! #belowdecksailing pic.twitter.com/XOg6lfM8Dr — Karen Brown (@kbrulz1) April 18, 2023

Another user believes it was a stretch to refer to the trip in that manner.

Worst trip of your life? I think that’s a stretch… #BelowDeckSailing pic.twitter.com/wSefZ2lLSW — Desiree (@dezireme2) April 18, 2023

It wasn’t all about the Karen’s complaining that had Twitter on fire after the show, either.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers call out gross guests

The social media platform was on fire with comments about the beyond-disgusting cabins that Daisy, Mads, and Lucy had to clean.

Yes, it is their job, but still, Twitter had a lot to say on the topic.

#BelowDeckSailingYacht #BelowDeckSailing pic.twitter.com/VDeJTQt1m8 — Channing (@JustChanning) April 18, 2023

Disgusting seemed to be the consciousness on Twitter of the state of the cabins on Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

That room looked disgusting, #BelowDeckSailing pic.twitter.com/YRdaTcemiB — Desiree (@dezireme2) April 18, 2023

One Twitter user made a reference to the cult classic film Carrie, stating, “They had two cleanings a day happening in that room looking like Carrie was sleeping there.

Despite the complaints to Captain Glenn and the vile cabins, not all of the charter guests were awful. A generous tip was left, and it was all because the rest of the group made up for the two complainers.

That did not go unnoticed by Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans, either.

The other ladies were embarrassed and stepped up. #belowdecksailing pic.twitter.com/oQ9U06N6WM — Karen Brown (@kbrulz1) April 18, 2023

The first charter o f Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 brought some drama. If it’s any indication of the rest of the season, viewers are in for one wild ride.

Gary King is back next week after his battle with COVID-19, which will undoubtedly change up the entire dynamic.

What did you think of the charter guests?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo. Seasons 1-3 are streaming on Peacock.

guest

We’re these the charter host or were they guest. If they were guests they had no right to go to the captain with their complaint. That was the host place. And she should have been told about the guest cabin conditions

Denise

The women complaining were ridiculous. Time for them to lay off the booze. I highly doubt they didnt have tp or towels.

Marv Kuker

Those two were just trying to get attention! They were pigs! Do they leave there house looking like their rooms?

Steve R

All a big “show” for TV. What is “reality TV” without created drama?

Ann

They were disgusting.. who bleeds all over and leaves it for someone else to clean?! That includes the carpet.. Made me gag. Do people get embarrassed anymore? Ughh!! Poor stews.

Who is Stephanie Seutter? 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 4's primary charter guest to bring chaos

SARDINIA, ITALY: Firsts are always meant to be special ones. Indeed, Bravo 's 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 4 's first primary charter guest is expected to be the memorable one. This charter and her friends, however, will bring with them a lot of fun as well as chaos.

This time we will see a group of girls who have come on board to enjoy their life to the fullest. Well, the kicker is that these primary guests will be left disappointed as Parsifal III will hit an issue in its engine. Because of the same, the boat will not be able to move and indeed the guests will be stuck at the port. Since the primary guests are on the deck for a limited time, they would want to enjoy it to the fullest. And, it is speculated that 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 4 crew members will find a way to entertain its guests.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4, Episode 15 Recap: Rainbows And Unicorns

At the end of the last episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht , First Mate Gary King was butthurt that Madison “Mads” Herrera seemed to care more about deckhand Alex Propson than she did about him. “I’m f*cking over this,” he declared.

But Chief Engineer Colin MacRae definitely wasn’t over it. “I think it’s healthy for Gary to be taken down a peg now and then,” he commented. “There’s the old saying, the truth hurts.”

Meanwhile, in the galley, Chef Ileisha Dell was on course five of a 10-course meal. “This is gonna be such a late night,” she complained. “Doing 10 courses on Parsifal is brutal. There’s no space. It’s insane to prep. It takes forever to serve, and it means a late night for everyone.” I feel you, Ileisha. Recapping back-to-back episodes of Below Deck Sailing Yacht is no picnic either, believe me.

Course number five consisted of Local Baby Pink Peppercorn Squid with Lime Aioli. “It’s a cephalopod!” primary guest Bryan squealed with delight.

Number six was Sea Bream with Celeriac Puree and Fennel Slaw. The guests were moaning with pleasure.

The seventh course was a Rosemary Crusted Beef Carpaccio with Parmesan and Microgreens, which Bryan declared, “Hugely brilliant.”

Served at 11:45 pm, course eight was a Surf and Turf Beef Filet with Grilled Prawns.

The ninth course was a Lemon Sorbet Palette Cleanser. “One more to go!” Ileisha said gratefully.

The final course, number 10, was a Limoncello Ricotta Cheesecake with Raspberry Compote. “Oh, my God!” Cheffie told Captain Glenn Shephard . “Dessert’s out! That was the longest service.”

“You know what we should do to celebrate?” deckhand Chase Lemacks asked Ileisha. “Make out!” Ileisha, who has a boyfriend, just laughed. Sounding a little desperate there, Chase.

And to all a good night

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

Dinner service was done, and the crew drifted off to their beds. The guests also headed off to their cabins with tummies full of Ileisha’s delicious food. Mads wasn’t sorry to see them go, as it meant she could also finish her work and go to bed at a decent hour.

Gary was still angry at Mads and wasn’t talking to her, or even looking at her, for that matter. “All the sh*t that’s been said has just got me thinking,” he told Colin.

The next morning, Gary came up behind Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher and wrapped his arms around her neck. “What time [did you get] up?” he asked her.

“Late,” she told him. “ Lucy [Edmunds] let me sleep in.”

“I don’t want to affect mine and Gary’s relationship,” Daisy interviewed, “by trying to put a boundary between us. But I also don’t want to upset Colin by being inappropriate. I’ve never been in this situation before, so I don’t really know how to handle it.” Boundaries are a healthy thing, Daisy. They keep people from being inappropriate.

Daisy asked the deck crew if they would wear the pink Speedos she ordered during water sports with the guests. The boys weren’t pleased, but it’s part of the job.

“I’m f*cking freaking out,” Chase told Gary, as they were changing into the tiny swimwear. “You can see the wrinkles of my ballsack.”

“Are you trimming?” Gary asked Chase.

“No, I’m not f*cking trimming!” Chase answered. “Trying to put this d*ck in these f*cking budgie smugglers.”

“Brü, your d*ck is definitely not that big,” Gary clapped back.

“All right, Chase, we’re doing this,” Chase pep-talked himself, as he came out of the bathroom.

Boys in budgie smugglers

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

No, I don’t have a picture (sorry!), but the Speedos were actually not that bad — from the back anyway. I think production was afraid to film from the front.

The boys all had fun terrorizing the interior crew with their obscene swimwear. “Anybody need help doing dishes?” Chase taunted Daisy and Lucy, as they shrieked with disgust.

Even Glenn wasn’t immune to the horror. “What the hell?!” he exclaimed, as he came down the stairs. “Oh, my God!”

“Come give me a hug, Glenn!” Gary said, tugging on his arm.

“No, get the hell away from me!” he said, adding, “Is that a cocktail wienie or are you just happy to see me?” LOL!

“Look, I’m not exactly the kind of guy to rock some nut huggers back home,” said Chase. “But if the guests want a banana hammock, I know I look damn good in them, and f*ck, I’ll do anything to make the guests happy.”

“Just go straight to the swim platform,” Gary instructed Chase, as they walked out on deck. “Don’t say anything!”

“Hello, guys!” Gary said as they passed the guests at breakfast, who immediately did a double-take.

“Well done, gentlemen,” the guests responded. “Thank you both. Good job, God.”

“It’s our crew uniform for the day,” Gary announced, as they proceeded to the swim platform.

Another day, another sail

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

Once the guests had finished with the water toys, it was time for another sail. “All crew, all crew,” Captain Glenn called over the radio. “FYI. We’re gonna be sailing. Let’s be stowed well. There’s quite a bit of breeze around.”

After stowing the NautiBuoys, Gary and Alex had a chat. “A couple days left, big boy,” Alex said. “How do you feel about it?”

When Gary answered that it had been a good season, Alex responded, “Made some money. You found love.”

“Far from it,” Gary told him.

“You guys are done?” Alex asked.

“I don’t think we were ever a couple, to be quite honest with you,” Gary admitted. “I think I wanted it more than she did. No, I want a chick that’s there for me, brü. Not just when she’s drunk.”

“I see how dysfunctional this Mads and Gary thing is,” Alex interviewed. “I don’t know why it’s continued this long. It’s really f*cking weird … I think Mads deserves better than Gary. [And] I am better than Gary.” If you could cut back on the booze you might be, Alex. The blacked-out drunk look is not all that attractive.

Bryan and his partner arrived on the deck to watch the sails go up. They were both wearing shirts adorned with unicorns simultaneously vomiting and farting rainbows. “He’s a little seasick,” Bryan explained to Chase. “It’s coming out of both ends, the poor thing.”

“This is a nice relaxing sail,” Glenn said, as things were flying off the shelves in the galley.

Preparing for the Pride party

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

For night two, the primary requested “a Pride dinner with seven courses, each course to represent a color of the rainbow.” The rainbow flags I’ve seen only have six colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple (just like the song my son learned in preschool). As if to reinforce the idea of only six colors, the Pride flag flying on the boat only had six colors, as did the flags I found when I Googled “Pride rainbow flag.” Still, the poem has the color pink included.

Again, Gary caught Daisy alone in the galley and threw an arm around her neck, trapping her against the cupboards. That’s kind of aggressive, Gary. I’m not a fan of the arm around the neck. Neither is Daisy. “Just get in a good mood, you,” he told her. I’m also not a fan of men telling women what their mood should be.

“I get a hug,” he added. “Hug it out.” And of course, he took advantage of the opportunity to try to steal a few kisses. Gary’s behavior is beginning to cross the line, and it’s uncomfortable to watch.

“Stop!” she told him. “Ugh, why would you do that?”

“Because it got you in a good mood. Look at you. Now you’re smiling and laughing.”

“So inappropriate,” she told him, not realizing that Colin was listening to every word from the control room just around the corner. Thank goodness the chief engineer is more level-headed than the first mate.

“Gary is a desperate man,” he commented. “His ego feels attacked if he doesn’t have female attention. And now that I’m in the thick of it, it’s a bit of a sh*t situation to be in.”

A rainbow flag dinner

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

Speaking of inappropriate behavior, Chase walked into the galley in his pink cowboy hat and greeted Ileisha. “Howdy, miss,” he said. “Wanna save a horse and ride a cowboy?” He just never stops. Fortunately, the chef didn’t see him as a threat, but I find him really annoying.

Mads and Lucy were decorating the sundeck for the Pride party later that evening. And guess what? The Pride flag they were hanging actually had seven colors. A turquoise stripe was inserted between the blue and the purple. I hope Ileisha has some turquoise food planned.

Staying with the rainbow theme, Daisy planned to have each server dress in a color from the flag to match the food. She also asked Gary if he’d do a fan dance.

When the guests came to the table, the whole decked was strewn with rainbow decor, and the guests themselves looked fabulous in their rainbow-themed outfits.

During dinner, Daisy went to visit Colin in the control room. She noticed he was out of sorts. “Are you mad at me?” she asked him. “Or is this about Gary?”

“If you ever told him that you have feelings for me,” he answered, “that would maybe make him back off a little bit.”

“He can clearly see that we’re hooking up,” Daisy said.

“But he’s an idiot,” Colin said. He’s not wrong.

Gary gets a taste of his own medicine

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

After the dinner was cleared away, the entire crew, including Glenn, paraded up to the sundeck in Pride regalia. “The boys have prepared a fan dance,” Daisy announced.

Gary and Chase really put their hearts into it, and it was hilarious. “If I had dollar bills, I’d make it rain,” shouted one of the guests.

As the guests walked down the stairs toward their cabins, they were laughing about feathers being everywhere. “Did you have a great night?” Lucy asked them.

“We had a terrible time, obviously,” they answered sarcastically. “It was the worst.”

In the boys’ cabin, Colin asked Gary if he was going to hook up with Mads tomorrow night. But then he (accidentally on purpose) dropped the bomb that Mads had shared a “three-way kiss” in the van with Lucy and Alex the other night on the way to dinner. “Do you think she likes Alex?” Colin asked, feigning innocence.

“No way! Did she hook up with Alex in the van?” Gary erupted. “Why didn’t she tell me that? What the f*ck is going on, dude?”

“Oh, it’s too good,” Colin interviewed. “I think Gary needs a taste of his own medicine here because he gets away with everything. So maybe this is karma. This is how it feels.” And he had a good chuckle about it.

Last day of the charter

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

“How was your night?” Chase asked Alex the next morning.

“Good. This was my magnum opus,” Alex answered. “There were feathers and glitter all over everything.” Alex was on the night shift, so he’d been cleaning all night, while everyone else was sleeping.

Too soon it was time to say goodbye to the guests. These have been lovely guests, and so much fun, even though their preference sheet had seemed to indicate they could be high maintenance. I hope they were happy with their Pride dinner and their party. They really seemed to enjoy it.

“You guys are each family now,” said a guest, as he handed every crew member a tiny Pride flag.

“Absolutely amazing and wonderful,” added Bryan. “I mean, I expected, of course, to have an amazing time, but I didn’t really expect to be embraced by the Parsifal III crew.”

Getting emotional, he added, “I was able to expand our Pride family with you joining us in our celebration. That is a priceless gift that you have given us.”

“Well, we’re happy to be a part of it,” Glenn told him.

“I want to leave this gift for you,” Bryan finished, handing the tip envelope to Glenn. And off they went.

A tip meeting bombshell

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

Later that afternoon, Glenn called everyone to the salon for the tip meeting. “That charter was a blast,” Glenn told them, as they sat down. “I’m proud of you guys. I’m proud of everybody … I was proud to watch you guys operating like a well-oiled machine.”

“Pride is about including, acceptance and equality. And I think these guests felt our team spirit as we all celebrated together. That feeling is definitely represented in the tip.” That’s good news. Show me the money, Glenn!

After asking for a drumroll, Glenn happily announced that the tip was $30,000 US. “I’m pretty sure this is the biggest tip we’ve ever received,” Daisy said. Everyone was ecstatic.

“We’re gettin’ lit!” Chase shouted.

“But …” Captain Glenn added ominously, “I hate to announce this. We pick up the next charter tomorrow.” So no night out then? And Chase was so excited.

“I was really looking forward to a night out,” Gary interviewed, “so I could actually just chat to Mads about how I feel. And now I can’t because now it’s get the boat ready and f*cking start charter tomorrow.”

“I can’t let all the hard work go unappreciated,” Glenn added, “so in place of going off the boat tonight for a night out, I’m bringing in a chef from a local restaurant called Frauday’s, and we’re going to start with hors d’oeuvres up on the flybridge at 7:30.”

“Here’s to the best team ever,” Glenn added, as he raised his champagne glass in salute. “And [to] the best charter tip. Well done, guys!”

The final charter preference sheet meeting

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

Late in the afternoon, Captain Glenn called for Daisy, Gary and Ileisha to meet him in the crew mess for the preference sheet meeting.

“Todd runs a wildly successful travel company,” Gary began reading, “and is looking forward to sunbathing under the sails with his boyfriend Grant, mother Debra and his friends. Brad is Ray’s husband. Nick is Brad and Ray’s boyfriend. This trio are a throuple who live, travel and share everything together.” Hmm, I wonder how the sleeping arrangements will work. Is one of the throuple going to have to share the other twin cabin with Mom?

Interestingly enough, Glenn had never heard of a throuple. “So it’s not a menage-a-trois for an evening? It’s a relationship thing?” he asked. You learn something new every day, Glenn.

“He’s just the garnish on top,” Gary clarified.

“Are you gonna be a garnish for me and Colin?” Daisy quipped. Inappropriate, Daisy! I don’t think Colin would find that funny.

“On night one the guests request a ‘Glamazon’ theme party, which is a mix of exotic, jungle and glam,” Daisy continued reading. “[On day two], they want to have an ABC theme party, and they expect all the yacht crew to participate.”

“What’s an ABC party?” Ileisha asked. Glenn explained that it meant, “Anything but clothes.”

“How do you know that?!” Daisy demanded.

“I have another side you’re not privy to,” Glenn said with a wicked smile.

“I’m an ABC party virgin,” Glenn admitted, “but I’ve been naked in front of other people before, just chilling out on the boat.” Ewwwww. Sorry, just not my thing. No thanks.

“I’ll be remaining fully clothed,” Glenn clarified.

Gary and Daisy chat

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

“I’m gonna miss you when it’s over, Dais,” Gary told the chief stew, as they enjoyed a drink together. “I told you from the beginning that I wanted to explore what would happen between us, but then I came onto the boat and heard you’d already hooked up with someone.” He never stops trying.

“I just can’t deal with this,” Daisy muttered. “Colin’s not going to be happy [with] the way we interact. We probably should stop flirting.”

“But it’s who I am,” Gary insisted. “He knows that. It’s not like I’m trying to … Actually, let me just stop talking.”

As everyone gathered for dinner on the flybridge, Alex and Mads were finally talking. “Things could have gone very differently,” he told her.

“I’m a believer in no regrets,” Mads responded.

As everyone was seated and the beautiful canapés began arriving, Chase made a toast, “Cheers to the fact that we’re all really different, but we come together for a common goal, and we f*cking crush it.”

Later in the crew mess, Gary and Daisy got into it again. “I’m going to stop flirting with you because Colin’s going to get angry,” the first mate said.

“I am with Colin,” she finally told Gary.

“I’m with Mads,” Gary snapped back. Um, no you’re not. “Are we with these people to try and get back at one another?” Let it go, Gary.

“Absolutely not,” Daisy said, walking away from him. “Why would you say that? It’s so f*cking inappropriate.”

Hot tub on a school night?

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

Rejoining the rest of the crew on the flybridge, Daisy wanted everyone to put on their swimsuits and go into the hot tub. But instead, everyone stepped over the railing and jumped into the sea.

Back in the crew mess, Chase wanted to do a “trust-building” exercise with Gary. “I swear to God, I will catch you,” he promised. So Gary jumped sideways like a baby dolphin, and Chase totally let him hit the floor. Hard. The rest of the crew laughed hilariously. So much for trust.

“You committed so hard,” Chase laughed.

“Nobody’s drinking anymore,” Daisy announced. “We are picking up charter in the morning.”

Alex caught Mads sneaking into Gary’s cabin. “Goodnight,” he told her sweetly.

She just laughed and said, “F*ck off, Alex,” as she climbed into bed with Gary.

“Why does this feel so good?” he asked her.

“Cause we’re drunk,” Mads answered. Exactly.

Meanwhile, Daisy and Colin carried a pillow and comforters up to the sundeck for some privacy, since the guest cabins needed to be ready for the next day.

Once everyone had finished their sexy business, they all returned to their respective cabins. “Ugh,” Colin complained, “it smells like sex in here.”

The final pickup day

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

The next morning, Glenn woke up at 7:30, just a few hours before the charter guests were to arrive. When he walked out of his cabin, he found the mess his crew had left from the night before. “Oh, man,” he said. “We’ve got charter in a few hours, and the boat’s a mess.”

“Last night was a school night,” he went on. “They know the drill, but they probably had a couple too many. Come on, guys.” Glenn walked around picking up after his crew, who were still sound asleep. Go wake them up, Glenn!

“Even though this is the last charter,” he added, “it doesn’t mean we can drop our guard. Not cool.”

Finally, he went to the crew quarters and started knocking on doors. “You guys, it’s eight o’clock,” he said. “We’re picking up in three hours. There’s a lot of sh*t to clean up.”

Or as Gary would say, “Wakey, wakey, eggs and bacy.”

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

Allegra and Gabe ‘s wedding on the beach had Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher and Captain Glenn Shephard emotional because of the beautiful ceremony. Chef Marcos faced a challenging group of guests and had to make a gluten-free wedding cake.

Junior Stew Ashley Marti got high praise from Daisy and fans for her work preparing the wedding.

Primary Charter Guest Lane Merrifield & Other Guests From Charter 8

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

Rich Canadian tech entrepreneur and co-founder of Club Penguin Lane Merrifield brought along a group of friends and his fiancé Amanda. This group of Canadians had a blast partying on the yacht, despite not being able to sail. They showed the crew how to do a hurricane, in which you take a shot, then have someone throw water in your face and slap you. They also had a sailing competition against the crew, which they narrowly lost.

Chef Marcos was put to the test because Lane requested molecular gastronomy , but as always, he rose to the challenge and wowed the guests.

These “classiest, funniest and kindest” charter guests left the crew the best tip of the season, $23,000 or $2,555 per crew member.

Primary Charter Guest Keely Washburn & Other Guests From Charter 7

Everything To Know About Keely Washburn & Other Charter Guests On Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3

“Aspiring real estate agent” Keely Washburn, her friends and their moms were the guests on charter 7. This group of charter guests were well-behaved compared to Dr. Kim Nichols and Erica Rose’s groups.

The other charter guests alongside Keely were: friend Jennifer Husk, Husk’s mom Susan, friend Belinda Benham, Benham’s mom Debbie, friend Bailey Fuller, Bailey’s mom Wendy, and friend Jess Cimato.

The ladies didn’t get a lot of screen time to drama happening between the crew, but the most memorable moment was when some of the ladies called Chef Marcos “muy caliente” several times.

Keely and her gang left the crew $16,400, $1,820 for each crew member.

Primary Dr. Kim Nichols & Other Charter Guests From Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 Charter 6

Charter Guest Dr. Kim Nichols From Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3

Below Deck Sailing Yacht charter guest Dr. Kim Nichols hasn’t yet come aboard Parsifal but she’s already making waves. Her preference sheet was read out by Captain Glenn Shephard in episode 10 and she wants all the crew to refer to her as “Dr. Nichols”.

Kim is a self-described celebrity cosmetic dermatologist with her own practice, called SkinLab , based in Greenwich, Connecticut. She is happily married to attorney Chris Cabanillas and is a mom of three children.

Kim made TV appearances on Megyn Kelly and Dr. Oz’s shows. Dr. Nichols’ Instagram mostly includes work-related posts of her and her employees conducting procedures and skincare advice.

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

Kim and her husband Chris chartered Parsifal III with their friends: Investment banker Dino and his wife Donna, Miami surgeon Pedro and his wife Adriana. The group tipped the crew $20,000, which resulted in each cast member making $2,500.

Primary Charter Guest Dawn, Husband & Friends From Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 Charter 5

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

On charter 5 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3, charter guests Dawn Zacha and her husband Tim Miller join the crew to sail. The other guests on the charter include their friends: Marni and her husband Brian, Lauren and her husband Jamie.

On Dawn’s Instagram , she shares pictures of her enjoying life in Chicago with husband Tim and their daughter. Dawn’s an independent sales professional, vegan foodie who loves bikinis, yoga and dance. Her husband Tim is a software company CEO who loves sailing on Lake Michigan.

Her friends and husband don’t have their Instagram accounts set to private. On the show they have been relatively tame compared to other charter guests.

These charter guests were pleased with the service, and Dawn enjoyed her vegan meals. They left a generous charter tip of $20,000 or $2,500 for each crew member remaining after Tom’s firing.

4th Charter: Charter Guests Jim Blumenthal, Veronica, Chris, Ken, Rick & Marni

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 Primary charter guest Jim Blumenthal owns businesses in Boulder, Colorado. He’s the President of Trailer Source and owns an RV dealership, per LinkedIn .

Jim and his friends were fairly easy-going while on the show, except they made the crew do a talent show. His long-term girlfriend Veronica stipulated the sailing yacht should be full of flowers. She’s a registered nurse.

Jim’s good friend Ken is another charter guest on the boat. He’s also a businessman who owns and operates office buildings. He’s a self-described comedian and is married to his wife Chris. She is in charge of the upkeep for their “multiple” homes across the US.

Jim and Veronica’s other friends invited as charter guests were Rick and Marni. Rick is a retired tech company executive and his wife Marni is in sales. Rick also loves to try rare and expensive wines.

Jim, Veronica and Co. left the cast a great tip of $21,000, or $25,030 for each crew member. Tom was fired in the middle of charter, so he was given only $760 in tip money.

3rd Charter: Charter Guests James Cox Junior, Bunny & Brother Tyler

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 Charter Guests James Cox, Bunny, and Tyler

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 charter guests James Cox Junior, his brother Tyler Cox , their “cougar” friend Amy “Bunny” Dunn and the guys’ dad James Cox Senior all had a blast on Parsifal III.

On their charter, the group had a great time despite the lack of wind for sailing. Tyler, a wine connoisseur, imbibed too much and passed out cold at the first dinner. Tyler took over the family tile business based in Florida. Meanwhile, James Jr. is a successful real estate broker based in Manhattan, New York.

Their long-time friend Amy Dunn posted on Instagram a lot on their trip. Amy, a stunning 51, had fun hitting on the male crew members.

James Sr. celebrated his 75th birthday while on the sailing yacht.

This group of guests gave the crew a tip total of $16,000 or $1,778 per person.

2nd Charter: Charter Guests Erica Rose & Charles Sanders

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Charter Guests Erica Rose and Husband Charles Sanders

Reality TV lover Erica Rose and her husband Charles Sanders made their mark in Below Deck charter guest history. They will not soon be forgotten as some of the worst charter guests to disgrace themselves on a yacht.

Erica Rose is an Instagram influencer and lawyer from Houston, Texas. She is an aspiring reality TV star who has been on The Bachelor , Bachelor Pad , Dr. Phil and Inside Edition . She has two daughters, one with Charles “Chuck” and one with her ex fiance.

Charles is also a lawyer, and shares a practice with Erica . He focuses on auto injury law. Charles gave a crying apology for his appalling behavior while on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3.

Erica’s mom Cindi Rose was also on the charter. She added to the madness of the charter by staining a white couch with brown bronzer and arriving late after getting kicked off a flight.

This Erica Rose’s infamous group of charter guests gave a pathetic $6,500 tip to the crew. This meant crew members only received only $722 each for the charter.

1st Charter: Primary Charter Guest McCordia Young

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 Primary Charter Guest McCordia Young & Friends

Washington DC real estate investor McCordia Young and the other charter guests were a relatively tame group compared to Erica Rose’s family.

They kept Chef Marcos very busy in the galley due to their insatiable appetites. Things took a bad turn when McCordia got too drunk and was sexually harassing Gabriela Barragan . She brushed off his inappropriate advances like a pro.

McCordia’s friends on the charter with him included his ex lover and business partner Norman Slye-Hawkins . He also invited other real estate agents including Leisel Taylor, Arnita Greene, Aliya Johnson.

McCordia and the other charter guests gave a total tip of $17,600. Each crew member received $1,955 in total tip money from the first charter.

This article will be updated with the latest on new charter guests from this season.

The 8 Least Memorable Below Deck Franchise Chefs, Ranked

  • Chef Anthony Iracane brings new flavor to Below Deck season 11. He shares culinary skills and sparks dramatic moments.
  • Natasha De Bourg, David White, Kevin Dobson, and others may have been forgotten, but their dishes were impressive.
  • Tom Checketts, Adrian Martin, Ileisha Dell, Matt Burns, and Nate Post had highs and lows during their stints on the show.

Bravo's Below Deck season 11's in full swing, so it's the perfect time to look back at the franchise's eight least memorable chefs. These chefs may have had exceptional culinary skills, but they weren't able to leave their marks on the series. This installment of the long-running Bravo show introduces a crew filled with returning and fresh faces. It's led by Captain Kerry Titheradge, aboard the mega yacht, St. David . Captain Kerry replaced fan-favorite Captain Lee Rosbach, who used to helm the vessel. Captain Kerry's joined by returning cast members Chief Stew Fraser Olender and Deckhand-turned-Bosun, Ben Willoughby.

The franchise has featured many great chefs over the years. One of the Below Deck season 11 cast 's new faces is Chef Anthony Iracane, who made his series debut during the premiere episode of season 11. Chef Anthony's culinary skills will undoubtedly add flavor to the new season , and he has already impressed charter guests. Aside from his work in the kitchen, Chef Anthony will certainly be involved in some of the season's dramatic moments. As Chef Anthony tries to carve out an identity, it's time to reflect on talented Below Deck chefs who may have faded from memory.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

Natasha de bourg, below deck sailing yacht season 2.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2 featured executive chef Natasha De Bourg . Natasha came aboard with an impressive resume, including Michelin-star experience , so it was assumed that her success was a sure thing. The proud Trinidad native was thrilled to be able to represent Caribbean women on the show. She started her career by interning at multiple high-end restaurants and eventually landed a role as a head chef in France. During her time on the show, Natasha often opened up about her past, allowing fans to really connect with her. Despite that, her time as executive chef on the franchise is often forgotten.

Charter guests loved Natasha's food, but fans on a Reddit thread started by czej1800 were quick to say how unimpressive the food looked. " She does talk a LOT about her credentials but her food does look pretty simple and boring ," wrote one Reddit user, in a sentiment that was often repeated throughout the comment section. Another comment read, " Not only is her food unimpressive and poorly executed but she has a terrible, “holier than thou” attitude ." Despite how her food may look to some fans, charter guests were often impressed with Natasha's meals .

In spite of her culinary success, Natasha was not invited back to the franchise after Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2.

David White

Below deck mediterranean season 7.

Chef David White from Below Deck Mediterranean season 7 got high scores from guests and crew alike. Even Captain Sandy, who was hard to please, was a big fan of Dave. He was creative, had fun with different cuisines, and cared about presentation. Though Dave was always professional with the guests and served fantastic food, he had a messy romantic drama with Chief Stew Natasha Webb . Dave and Natasha were already embroiled in a romantic entanglement when they came aboard, but they kept the secret to themselves. At one point, during a fight, Dave threatened to expose their secret and later sent Natasha inappropriate text messages. He has since apologized for the regrettable behavior.

Before appearing on Below Deck Mediterranean , Dave had several years of cooking experience, and even opened his very own French restaurant . His appearance on the show was not his first experience as a yacht chef, and Dave was known to serve some of the best dishes seen on the series. The UK-born chef suffered a back injury and had to have spinal surgery after wrapping up filming season 7. The self-described adrenaline junkie is prepping for a second climb up Mount Everest in 2023.

Dave dreams of holding the world record for throwing the world's highest altitude dinner party.

Kevin Dobson

Below deck season 7.

Executive Chef Kevin Dobson , who only appeared on Below Deck season 7, was often seen butting heads with Chief Stew Kate Chastain, whom he believed wasn't meeting his high service standards. He was constantly undermining her at every turn. For Kate's part, she didn't appreciate Kevin's attitude. Kevin got on Kate's bad side, and he was always clashing with Captain Lee .

One night, the charter guests invited Captain Lee to a guest dinner, and Kevin forgot he had to make an extra plate for dinner that night . Captain Lee was understandably annoyed and told Kevin to step it up for the rest of the season. Though Kevin was able to work things out with Captain Lee, his relationship with Kate never improved, and he never returned to the Below Deck franchise.

Tom Checketts

Below deck mediterranean.

Tom Checketts came aboard during Below Deck Mediterranean season 5, halfway through, as a replacement. The season started off with Chef Kiko Lorran in the kitchen. When Chef Kiko failed to live up to Captain Sandy Yawn's high standards during a Las Vegas-themed dinner one night, Captain Sandy lost all faith in Kiko and sent him packing. With them needing a new chef, deckhand Malia White, who was dating Tom at the time, suggested him as the chef. Captain Sandy loved the idea and Tom arrived soon after to run the kitchen for the rest of the season.

Once aboard the mega yacht, the pressure was on and Tom felt it.

He even had a full meltdown one night when he had to get back to work before his break was over. He took his frustrations out on second stew Aesha Scott and made her cry. Tom later felt bad and apologized to her. Though chef Tom made quite an impression, he never returned to the franchise after his half season on Below Deck Mediterranean .

Adrian Martin

Below deck season 6.

Adrian Martin of Below Deck season 6 is often considered to be one of the franchise's best chefs. In addition to his impressive culinary skills, Adrian, who practiced yoga every morning, brought a much-needed sense of calm to the crew... sometimes. At other times, however, he had an abrasive personality and wasn't always the most respectful crew member . Adrian was criticized for making inappropriate comments towards third stew Laura Betancourt, which made her uncomfortable, and which some people characterized as misogynistic. Adrian wasn't asked back after Below Deck season 6 and has largely been forgotten.

Ileisha Dell

Below deck sailing yacht season 4.

Chef Ileisha Dell appeared on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 and never received any bad reviews from the guests. Overall, the charter guests seemed to enjoy what she brought to the table. In addition to her culinary skills, Ileisha never got involved in any of the drama among the rest of the crew, and mostly stayed in the background. The fact that Ileisha wasn't an absolute mess, like the rest of her crew mates, is probably why her time on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 was so forgettable.

Below Deck Season 5

Yacht Chef Matt Burns impressed charter guests with his culinary skills on Below Deck season 5. When Matt came aboard the yacht, he came with more than ten years of experience working in the restaurant industry, as well as six years of experience as an executive yacht chef . It was clear right away that Matt was passionate about his food and had the highest standards. Matt had traveled all over the world, cooking for famous athletes, Hollywood stars, and high-profile executives. Thanks to all the traveling he was doing, he learned how to cook many forms of cuisine, which impressed charter guests.

Despite being passionate about cooking, according to Matt 's Instagram, he is no longer cooking professionally and is, instead, a real estate agent. His Instagram profile bio reads, " I like to cook/Home Enthusiast, " but his feed is filled with homes that are on the market and homes that have been sold.

Matt still posts the occasional cooking video from time to time, but his career focus seems to be solidly on real estate.

Below Deck Down Under Season 1

The inaugural season of Below Deck Down Under hit major turbulence, when Chef Ryan McKewon was difficult to get along with, while also proving himself to be mediocre in the galley. He often refused to accommodate the guests' needs and failed to communicate with chief stew Aesha Scott and the rest of the crew. Things got so bad that Captain Jason Chambers finally fired Ryan mid-season, and brought on Chef Nate Post to save the rest of the charter season. Luckily, Nate proved himself to be a much better chef than Ryan, and got along with the rest of the My Thalassa crew better than Ryan had. Nate ended his season with Captain Jason's respect, but he was never invited back to appear on Below Deck Down Under again.

Below Deck season 11 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo. Episodes are available for streaming on Tuesdays on Peacock.

‘Below Deck’ Sails Into a New Era

With a different captain at the helm and new production elements, the reality show about charter yachts is switching up its style.

A man in a crew member suit stands behind a bar and tends to flowers in a vase.

By Shivani Gonzalez

Starting a new season of “ Below Deck ” can be similar to returning to summer camp as a kid — you know it’s going to be fun and that you’ll be in the same environment, but some of the people will be different and you’re not quite sure what the vibes will be.

This time around, in particular, feels that way because for the first time in the show’s 11-season run, Captain Lee Rosbach is no longer at the helm. It’s a pivotal moment for a franchise that has become one of the most popular entities in the sprawling universe of reality TV since premiering on Bravo in 2013 . The show’s appeal was built on endless romances between various crew members (“boatmances,” as they came to be known), horrible charter guests and some sort of passive-aggressive fight about how many shackles of the anchor chain should be in the water. And there was always Rosbach presiding over the drama as he trudged around the boat, reeling off one liners like “I’m madder than a pissed-on chicken” and “we screwed the pooch so many times we should have a litter of puppies running around.”

At the center of the show now is Kerry Titheradge (the stern yet goofy captain of “Below Deck Adventure” fame), who is managing the Motor Yacht Saint David with the cheeky chief stew Fraser Olender by his side.

With that change in captain, the energy on the boat — both onscreen and off — is different, according to Olender.

“Lee has a no B.S. attitude, which I love with him,” Olender said in an interview. “With Kerry, he taught me a lot and sort of forced to me confront issues directly with my team, work them out, as opposed to making executive decisions too soon.”

This shift in management style changes the central conflict — whereas the drama once focused on the captain swiftly kicking out any unpleasant crew member (as we might have seen with Rosbach), the drama now focuses on the whole crew trying to get along (since Titheradge gives people those second chances).

Additionally, Olender noted that the captain’s relationship with the crew can also affect the drama on board.

“Captains absolutely do get involved, whether they know it or not,” Olender said, adding that for the crew, everything is about “trying to impress your captain.”

This phenomenon plays out early in the new season when the lead deckhand, Ben Willoughby, called out a fellow crew member over the radios about not wearing a life vest — something he easily could have done in private. The drama that followed became an interpersonal conflict between the two of them, both with the ultimate goal of impressing Titheradge. (Of course, the two deckhands had kissed on the previous crew night out, which is more in line with the “Below Deck” drama viewers are used to.)

For “Below Deck” showrunners, the changeovers in the cast allowed them to rethink what the show would look like.

From the season premiere, it was immediately apparent that Rosbach’s absence wasn’t the only change this season: The filming is sleeker, the daily, multicourse meals prepared by the chef are given their own glamour shots and the cameras sometimes cut to the perspectives of yachties running around on deck and through the galley.

“Our showrunner, Lauren Simms, is an avid consumer of all different kinds of media,” Noah Samton, a senior vice president of unscripted current production for NBCUniversal, said in an interview. “She pitches us different ideas on how to stylistically evoke different feelings and change the mood a little bit of ‘Below Deck’ without removing what really works.”

Moving through the rest of the season, and potentially through seasons to come, Olender is aiming to bring a cutthroat management style while also bringing affection for his stews, all with his signature British humor.

On Bravo’s side, there are changes in the works for the other “Below Deck” spinoffs — including “Sailing Yacht,” “Mediterranean” and “Down Under” — which collectively, have 26 seasons. Specifically, Samton said that “Down Under” is currently filming and that even though fans should be ready to see new things, the show will stay true to its original concept.

“These are real yachties doing a real job so you have to stay within those confines because the audience isn’t going to want anything that is too produced or fake,” Samton said. “So we have to find ways to reinvent while staying true to the original concept of the show.”

And as Olender said: “I’m sure that every year if I were to work with this franchise again, that I’ll be thrown a collection of total chaotic and disastrous stews — that’s what makes it watchable.”

An earlier version of this article misquoted Fraser Olender, the chief stew of “Below Deck.” He said, “I also feel like Kerry this season. ... Lee has a no B.S. attitude, which I love with him,” not “I feel like Kerry this season, as opposed to Lee, has a no B.S. attitude, which I love with him.”

  • Marcos Spaziani impresses guests with his diverse culinary knowledge and passion on Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3.

With Bravo's Below Deck season 11 in full swing, it's the perfect time to take a look back at the franchise's 10 best chefs. This season of the long-running Bravo series introduces a whole new crew of returning and fresh faces, led by Captain Kerry Titheradge, aboard the mega yacht St. David. Captain Kerry replaced Captain Lee Rosbach, who used to helm this vessel and is joined by returning cast members Chief Stew Fraser Olender and Deckhand turned Bosun Ben Willoughby.

One of the Below Deck season 11 cast 's new faces is Chef Anthony Iracane, who made his series debut during the premiere episode of season 11. Chef Anthony's culinary skills will undoubtedly add flavor to the new season , but aside from his work in the kitchen, Chef Anthony will certainly be involved in some of the season's dramatic moments. As Chef Anthony will be looking to make his mark on the show, it's time to take a look back at the array of talented chefs who have appeared on Below Deck in the past.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

10 leon walker, below deck season 3.

Chef Leon Walker cooked for charter guests for ten episodes of Below Deck season 3. While aboard the ship, Eros, Leon was a great chef, but he was very argumentative. Despite guests loving his food, his abrasive personality got in his way, and many didn't want to see Leon back for future charters. Leon and chief stew Kate Chastain battled throughout the season, and he didn't always honor requests from the charter guests. Leon was fired following a fire in the kitchen, which started because his oven was dirty . After Leon was fired, Chef Ben Robinson swooped in to save the day.

9 Natasha De Bourg

Below deck sailing yacht season 2.

Natasha De Bourg came aboard as the executive chef during Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2. Natasha came with an impressive resume, including Michelin-star experience , so it was assumed that her success was a sure thing. Charter guests loved Natasha's food, but fans on Reddit were quick to say how unimpressive the food looked.

One Reddit user wrote, " Not only is her food unimpressive and poorly executed but she has a terrible, “holier than thou” attitude ."

Regardless of how her food looked, guests loved how her food tasted.

8 Ben Robinson

Below deck seasons 1-4, below deck mediterranean seasons 1 & 4.

The wild-haired Chef Ben Robinson was not only funny and outgoing, he was one of the best chefs to ever appear in the series. His snarky one-liners made Ben an instant Below Deck fan favorite. Robinson was on Below Deck seasons 1-4, and he then appeared in seasons 1 and 4 of Below Deck Mediterranean . Thanks to his fun personality, Ben was one of the most well-liked chefs in the series . In addition to always getting along with his fellow yachties, charter guests raved about Ben's cooking.

7 David White

Below deck mediterranean season 7.

Chef David White from Below Deck Mediterranean season 7 got high scores from guests and crew alike. Even Captain Sandy, who was hard to please, was a big fan of Dave. Though he had a messy romantic drama with Chief Stew Natasha Webb , Dave was always professional with the guests and served fantastic food. He was creative, had fun with different cuisines and the presentations were fantastic.

Because of his skill, creativity, passion, and professionalism, Dave is one of the best chefs from the Below Deck franchise .

6 Adam Glick

Below deck mediterranean seasons 2 & 3, below deck sailing yacht season 1.

Chef Adam Glick worked in the kitchen for Below Deck Mediterranean seasons 2 and 3, as well as Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 1. Aside from his impressive cooking, Adam was most remembered for a love triangle during Below Deck Mediterranean season 2. He met Malia before boarding Sirocco in Croatia and the two were romantically involved.

The relationship began to crumble after Malia started to develop feelings for her bosun, Wes Walton.

In the end, Malia chose Wes over Adam. Adam didn't take the rejection well, and lost his cool, and even got into a physical altercation with Wes at one point. Despite that, he would be invited to return for season 3. He had intended not to get into another romantic entanglement, but he went against his plan and pursued another showmance, this time with stew Jenna Macgillivray. Despite all of his personal drama, Adam was a great chef who was passionate about cooking and who consistently satisfied charter guests with his cuisine.

5 Adrian Martin

Below deck season 6.

Below Deck season 6's Adrian Martin is one of the show's best chefs. In addition to his impressive skills in the kitchen, Adrian brought a much-needed sense of calm to the crew and even practiced yoga every morning. That being said, he wasn't always the most respectful crew member and sometimes had an abrasive personality . Adrian was criticized for making inappropriate comments towards third stew Laura Betancourt, which made her uncomfortable, and which some characterized as misogynistic. He would often make tasteless, and often sexually charged comments, which Laura really did not appreciate.

4 Jessica Condy

Below deck adventure season 1.

Chef Jessica Condy from Below Deck Adventure season 1 was always praised for her fantastic cooking skills but was often an emotional mess in the kitchen (via Bravo .) She started cooking when she was only 12 years old and never stopped, so it was only natural that she would make it her career. Though she was a confident and passionate chef, she often felt overwhelmed and would easily get overly upset in the kitchen.

There were even a few times when she completely lost her cool and went off on Chief Stew Faye Clarke. They were thankfully able to work it out, like most chefs and chief stews do. Overall, Chef Jessica was a good mix of skilled chef and a highly entertaining Below Deck cast member.

3 Tzarina Mace-Ralph

Below deck down under season 2.

Below Deck Down Under season 2's Tzarina Mace-Ralph is one of the franchise's most entertaining chefs . The world-class chef showcased her culinary skills for Captain Jason Chambers and the demanding charter guests on the motor yacht Northern Sun (via Bravo .) Tzarina served impressive meals and unfiltered opinions while trying to live her best life and earn a big paycheck during the Australian yachting charter season. When the Bristol, UK, native wasn't cooking up a storm in the galley, she was entangled in several dramatic romantic entanglements with fellow crew members that added to her entertainment value.

Tzarina was first involved with deckhand Culver Bradbury, but he ended up dumping her for stewardess Jaimie Neale. Tzarina took the rejection really hard and got emotional when she opened up about her past and her insecurities. However, she was able to rebound with returning bosun, João Franco .

The dynamic pair's chemistry was palpable, and their budding relationship was entertaining to watch, but it went down in flames after Tzarina attacked João's character repeatedly.

2 Rachel Hargrove

Below deck seasons 8-10.

Chef Rachel Hargrove appeared in Below Deck seasons 8-10 and is considered one of the most consistent chefs in the series. She never got negative reviews from the charter guests, was dryly outspoken, and perfected a 10-course dinner that impressed diners. Crew members Eddie Lucas and Francesca Rubi were so impressed with her French toast that they said it was the best they'd ever had.

Rachel first appeared in season 8 of the show and was quite a polarizing character at first. She was confrontational, brutally honest, and criticized for her drinking. Despite the rocky start, Rachel would stay on the show for another two seasons, during which time, she really grew on fans and became a fan favorite.

1 Marcos Spaziani

Below deck sailing yacht season 3.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3's Marcos Spaziani worked as a chef for ten years before joining the cast of the show, working everywhere from Miami to Los Angeles. While living in LA., he worked as a chef at the well-known Hollywood restaurant Taste, then started his gourmet food truck business. Hailing from Venezuela, Marcos had an expansive knowledge of different kinds of cuisines, which really impressed the guests.

There were rarely any complaints about the meals he served, and both the guests and the crew could taste the passion in his food. In addition to being a stellar chef, Marcos was hardly ever involved in any drama with his fellow crew members. Perhaps his lack of drama contributed to the fact that Marcos is one of the most often forgotten Below Deck cast members.

Below Deck season 11 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo. Episodes are available for streaming on Tuesdays on Peacock.

Below Deck Recap: The Complainer

below deck sailing yacht season 4 charter guests

Ben and Sunny’s relationship bums me out, y’all. How is  she  the one who ends up apologizing? At least we have a palate cleanser in the form of the cutie little shoulder-rubbing, bunk-sharing more-than-a-friendship budding between Barbie and Kyle. Having been burned by cheaters in the past, Sunny says she has a jealous alter ego named Sabrina who comes out after a few drinks. She apologizes to Xandi and hugs her — sort of by force, but whatever — in the morning. We also learn that, after the end of her last relationship, our divorced queen Xan took a “pledge of celibacy.” This is none of my business, of course, but I do hope it was a formal pledge with a script and a special accompanying hand sign, like the Girl Scout Promise.

Before we continue any further, we must review several discoveries we make about Dylan, our new deckhand, in this episode:

  • He enjoys getting a (shirtless, naturally) early morning pump in out on the sun deck. “If I don’t have a dumbbell, I feel sad,” he says. “True story.”
  • He washes slices of ham in the sink to get the fat off them. I cannot imagine this appreciably lowers ham’s fat content, but then again — I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — I’m not a ham scientist.
  • Kyle says he’s already high-fived Dylan more times than he’s high-fived anyone in his life. Plausible.
  • Dylan is happy to volunteer to carry provisions down the stairs to the galley. “It’s fine!,” he shouts. “I want calves!”
  • Dylan is already so confident that he’ll be named lead deckhand that he is announcing his imminent promotion to guests, seemingly unprompted.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

On this next charter, the deck is stacked against Anthony, who’s already struggling with organization and time management. The guests’ combined allergies and sensitivities include dairy, egg, gluten, wheat, hazelnut, and banana — and that’s not even all of them; I just couldn’t type fast enough. The primary is a vegetarian who’s  starting  to eat fish but won’t do lobster or raw seafood. Her husband dislikes meat and fish, someone else doesn’t like vegetables, and someone is straight-up vegan. This feels like a logic puzzle or a very specific stress dream that Anthony specifically would wake up from screaming.

The primary, a cruise director named Melinda, has requested both a normal birthday cake and a gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free birthday cake. “So, just dust or air,” Fraser summarizes. But don’t worry, none of these allergies are that serious — no one’s going into anaphylactic shock, the primary’s pickleball pal Jill Zarin assures Anthony.

Oh. Did I forget to tell you that former  Real Housewife of New York City  Jill Zarin is here? (So is her boyfriend, Gary, but pretty much all he does this episode is get his penis sucked into the hole of the sea bob he’s riding. “My penis got sucked into the hole,” he explains.) Jill Zarin doesn’t need to get into the hot tub to know the temperature is set too high. Jill Zarin wants a Diet Coke because Jill Zarin always wants a Diet Coke. But Jill Zarin needs her Diet Cokes stored in the freezer. And Jill Zarin doesn’t like this ice. Is there any other ice? Fetch Jill Zarin better ice, please. Jill Zarin needs to be shown where to find the electrical outlet in the bathroom, which is the perfect opportunity for her to lecture Barbie on how yachts — she’s been on a lot of them, you see — should have their bathroom drawers fully stocked with toiletries. They’re already down a stew, and, as Barbie says, Jill Zarin would ideally have a full human being assigned just to deal with her. She is captain now.

Anthony shares that his dyslexia contributes to his difficulties with focusing, which isn’t making his job any easier. Fraser has to remind him that it’s probably not the best idea to serve lobster when the primary doesn’t like lobster. And yet, against all odds, he pulls off the first dinner with flying colors, accommodating everyone’s needs with scallops, tofu that looks like scallops, a raspberry shortcake,  and  a vegan piña-colada flan. But the next morning, at breakfast, the crew commits the mortal sin of not being available the moment the guests decide they could use some hot sauce. Worry not! Jill Zarin has a solution. Jill Zarin summons Fraser to suggest the St. David staff install a doorbell that would allow the guests to ring the kitchen directly whenever they like. That’s what Jill Zarin had on Jill Zarin’s yacht! “They’re sticky, and you get them on Amazon,” she says as if she’s genuinely doing Fraser a favor and not, in fact, as he puts it, crawling into his brain and eating away at his soul.

Lunch is doomed before it even leaves the galley. The main dish is burgers, which sounds simple until you realize that with these guests, there will be far too many possible permutations of regular burger versus vegan patty, cheese versus no cheese, bun versus lettuce wrap. Barbie tries and fails to keep track of all their orders, and it takes forever to sort out. Anthony smiles wanly, admitting defeat. “Goddammit.”

And so, may God have mercy on us all: Jill Zarin’s burger is served cold. “Anybody else?” she prompts the group. “Tell the truth. They don’t mind.” (That last sentence gets a true literal  lol  from me.) Having decided she must now know every detail of dinner in advance, lest disaster strikes again, Jill Zarin — whose chyron, hilariously, reads  NOT THE PRIMARY  — demands sushi as an appetizer at the bar, despite the fact that she herself does not eat sushi, as well as some crudités. What could go wrong?

The guests play pickleball and then meditate together on the beach. I hate to judge a book by its cover, but my guess that the yoga teacher among the guests would turn out to be the vegan lady with blonde and purple dreadlocks proves to be correct. Also, it feels important that I tell you Jill Zarin is wearing truly deranged Dior x Robocop wraparound sunglasses. They come back to the boat and drink something called a mimosa shot, which sounds to me like a shortcut to an orange juice and bile-flavored burp.

The overwhelmed interior desperately needs a new stew (it’s too bad they can’t somehow recruit Sabrina), causing more tension between Barbie and Xandi. Barbie is quite literally running around the entire boat like she’s on  Supermarket Sweep . Xandi is offended when Barbie asks her to iron a napkin and snidely tells her to do it herself. But it’s Anthony who steps into the biggest pile of professional poop by the end of the episode. In consenting to Jill, he makes a fatal mistake: The primary doesn’t eat raw fish, but they never discussed (and so he didn’t make) a vegetable sushi option, only crudités. And Jill Zarin may be Jill Zarin, but the primary is still the primary.

Captain Kerry takes notice. Captain Kerry is not happy.
