What is Club 33? Inside Disney’s Most Exclusive Club

by Evelyn Long | Oct 6, 2022 | Disneyland , Disneyland Parks , DLR News , WDW Blog

What is Club 33, and what is in there, anyway? Here is the history of this exclusive club and how to get inside…

If you’ve had the pleasure of enjoying pillowy beignets in Disneyland’s New Orleans Square, you may have been chowing down directly below world-famous celebrities. That’s right – an exclusive VIP lounge is hidden in plain sight, where world leaders, pop culture icons, and corporate bigwigs discretely gather.

Known simply as Club 33, the lounge is an ultra-exclusive venue for important figures to duck out of the crowds, cool down with a beverage, and enjoy gourmet cuisine. Membership is highly coveted by powerful Disney fans – so much so that the waitlist is rumored to be over 15 years long (but that’s just a Disney myth!). But if the most prominent big shots are frequenting a lounge located in one of the most popular destinations in the world, how are so many fans unaware of Club 33’s existence?

Well, the answer is simple – Disney does its best to keep the club under wraps. Despite Mickey’s best efforts, a thorough internet deep dive might reveal the park’s best-kept secret! We’ve compiled all of our insider knowledge here – so even if you can’t get past the fifteen-year waitlist, you can still get the scoop on Club 33.

What is Club 33?

Club 33 celebrating its 55-year Emerald Anniversary.

So what’s the big deal, anyway? Between the waitlist and the price tag (we’ll get to that later…), it’s easy to question what the appeal of Club 33 really is. In short, Club 33 is a sophisticated and luxurious fine dining establishment for elite guests who value their privacy —and are willing to pay for it.

For well-known visitors enjoying the park, the club serves as an oasis from gawking fans and the California heat. For business associates such as valued investors and corporate leaders, the club acts as a sophisticated venue for business dealings right in the heart of where the Walt Disney Company began.

To protect the privacy of members and maintain its prestigious reputation, Disney has gone to unmatched lengths to protect the anonymity of members and the air of mystery that surrounds Club 33. However, in the 55 years since the opening of the club, leaked photos and anecdotes from members were bound to slip through the cracks. When curious fans like us piece together info from members and rare news from Disney, the puzzle of Club 33 starts to come alive.

Today, award-winning executive chef Andrew Sutton serves as the culinary leader of Club 33. He and his team present gourmet cuisine in a fine dining setting, accented by the regal sophistication that can only be done by Disney. Members can also enjoy a chilled martini or rich glass of wine in their upscale bar area, prepared by master mixologists, all while looking over crowds of guests below.

History of Club 33

Any Disney history buff will tell you that the roots of Walt’s classic attractions come from the World’s Fair. Club 33 is no exception to this. The 1964 World’s Fair was highly significant for Walt Disney. There, he engineered and debuted a variety of iconic experiences such as It’s A Small World, Ford’s Magic Skyway, and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln for a handful of major corporations. At the Fair, Walt visited private lounges hosted by corporate sponsors, where potential investors and other special guests were invited to enjoy refreshments and engage in important conversation.

As Disneyland developed, General Electric was set to sponsor the classic attraction, the “Carousel of Progress”— but only under the condition that Walt constructed a private lounge within the park. Although it was originally supposed to be located inside the Carousel of Progress, Walt convinced executives that it would be a better fit within a new area of the park that was under construction: New Orleans Square.

Inspired by the VIP lounges that Walt Disney first witnessed at the 1964 World’s Fair, Club 33 opened in May of 1967 as a private arena within the park where Walt could entertain important visitors. Over half a century later, the club continues to host diplomats, celebrities, and corporate agents in an upscale environment. New Orleans Square, along with Club 33, would be the last land expansion that Walt Disney ever directly oversaw.

Inside the Original Club 33

In 2011, before an extensive refurbishment, Disney Parks Blog described the interior of the club and shared photos.

“ Club 33 include[d] two dining rooms and several adjoining areas , all of which [held] a variety of antiques and original works of art. After ascending to the second floor in the unique Victorian-age, French-style lift – a reproduction of one Walt had admired during a trip to Europe – you [would] enter The Gallery. Here [you would] find an oak telephone booth with beveled leaded glass panels adapted from the one used in the Disney motion picture “The Happiest Millionaire” and a rare console table that was found in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Also in The Gallery [were] original works by Disney artists and design studies for New Orleans Square and the Pirates of the Caribbean.”

In Lounge Alley, [there was] a beautiful harpsichord – one of the results of the “shopping” trip to New Orleans. It feature[d] a scene showing Jackson Square and the Mississippi River in the 19th Century, hand-painted by WED artist Collin Campbell.

The Main Dining Room

The Main Dining Room [was] decorated in First Empire style, recalling the era of Napoleon and the early 19th Century. The room, decorated with framed artwork by Disney artists, [was] lit by wall sconces and three chandeliers. Fresh flowers, parquet floors, and antique bronzes create an atmosphere of serenity and warmth.

The Disney Room

In 2011, Disney Room, or Trophy Room, was the second dining room inside Club 33. Photo via Disney Parks Blog

The Disney Room, or Trophy Room , [was] the second dining room. It was originally to be the setting for a show featuring five Audio-Animatronics figures: two magpies, an owl, a raccoon, and a vulture who would entertain the guests and even participate in their conversations through the use of microphones which were hidden in the chandeliers above each table. The show never developed, however, and only the vulture remain[ed] on his perch in the corner of the room.

While the original Club 33 was elegant and refined, Imagineers envisioned a fine dining experience that truly leaned into the surrounding area’s devotion to 19th-century New Orleans. Erin Glover, Former Manager, Social Media and Print for Disney Parks Blog, commented at the time that her favorite artifact at Club 33 was a table from the filming of Mary Poppins .

What is Inside Club 33 Now?

In 2014, Club 33 underwent a major renovation , which included a full re-theme. In 2022, Disney announced that Chef Gloria Tae was named the first female chef de cuisine at Club 33. Disney doesn’t publish any official photos of Club 33 on their websites, brochures, social media, or other promotional material. Glimpses of the club can be trudged up online by determined fans, typically taken by third-party publications during occasional media events. Distributing photos of the interior is strictly prohibited within the club (unless individually approved by management), so photos are still quite rare.

Rare Photos and Videos

Some YouTubers have published photos of their visits to the club, but no video has been permitted for publication:

Disney Parks Blog has occasionally posted stories that include updates or special events at Club 33, and these can offer brief glimpses of the inside.

Snapping pics of the elite is a major faux pas anywhere, but that mistake can come with some harsh consequences at Club 33! If it’s discovered that a member or their guests posted photos to social media, they risk the suspension of their membership – which includes admission to the park. That being said, getting a peek inside Club 33 is a rare privilege that’s well worth the wait.

Disneyland’s Club 33 is inspired by the land it resides in – New Orleans! The Big Easy is one-of-a-kind, influenced both by the historcal landscape of the American South and the artistic and architectural contributions of French culture. This marriage between the charming old South and the French art nouveau movement is palpable in all areas of the club, creating a uniquely upscale atmosphere in the middle of Anaheim.

A Club 33 Tour

Visitors enter the club through a quaint courtyard known as the Court of Angels, where New Orleans-style balconies look over a cobblestone area dressed with wrought iron patio tables. A curved staircase welcomes esteemed guests to ascend to an inviting, yet unassuming door, where a small plaque reads “33.” Here, members can scan in and enter the foyer. They are greeted by reception staff at a desk, and they continue through the foyer.

The quiet Club 33 Entrance at Disneyland.

The decor is that which you would perhaps find in a wealthy baron’s estate in the Crescent City, furnished with luxurious antique pieces including a handpainted grand piano that depicts a beautiful Southern landscape. Hallways are lined with bright expansive windows overlooking the park, guiding members toward the two main areas enjoyed by guests: Le Salon Nouveau and Le Grand Salon.

Le Salon Nouveau Lounge

Le Salon Nouveau is Club 33’s very own watering hole, where prestigious members can sip artfully crafted cocktails and savor sommelier-selected wine. The design of the bar is heavily inspired by the art nouveau movement (hence the name), employing the use of ethereal stained glass along the ceiling and elegantly rounded woodwork across the back bar. Several intimate tables are scattered around the lounge, inviting members to sit and converse as they wait for their table.

Le Grand Salon Dining Room

The main dining room, or Le Grand Salon, sends guests back in time to dining parlors of a bygone era in heart of Louisiana. Marble-checkered flooring, wicker-backed dining chairs, and elegant chandeliers continue the New Orleans theming while maintaining the level of upscale dining that Club 33 members are accustomed to.

But this visit to the past isn’t the only in-park oasis that prestigious guests can enjoy across Disney parks…

Club 33 Locations Around the World

Believe it or not, more VIP Disney clubs are tucked away across the globe. No attempt to replicate the original Club 33 in Anaheim, California, could ever capture its one-of-a-kind magic. Thankfully, the other Club 33 destinations hidden around the world are inspired by unique themes that take members on entirely new journeys.

Walt Disney World Clubs

Walt Disney World followed suit just a few years later when not one but four  Club 33-style exclusive dining locations were opened in each of the four parks: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. Unlike the other three worldwide locations, these VIP clubs would be coined with their very own names. Although members get access to all four clubs, they do not include the full-service dining that other Club 33 destinations do.

  • Hollywood Studios welcomed the Spotlight Lounge, resting above the beloved Brown Derby Restaurant. One could guess that the lounge pays homage to old Hollywood, although our team couldn’t uncover any hidden photos on the web.
  • EPCOT now boasts the Constellation Club, hidden away within the America pavilion at the midway point of EPCOT’s World Showcase. The space was previously a lounge for Chase Visa cardholders but has of course since been refurbished. Leaked photos show dark wooden interiors accented by modern touches, while black-and-white photos of Walt Disney watch over members.
  • Animal Kingdom offers Harambe House which, as you may guess, is located in Africa.  Unlike the other clubs, the exterior of Harambe House is visible to all guests. The building reads “Harambe House”, with the words “thelathini na tatu” underneath – which means “thirty-three” in Swahili. Snooping guests have managed to snap photos of the interior through the club’s massive windows, which show sweeping hallways, bright open rooms, and organically modern decor.
  • Magic Kingdom welcomes members to Captain’s Quarters , which honors the extensive background of the Adventurer’s Club and is appropriately housed in Adventureland. The club is located just beyond the Adventureland sign to the left of Cinderella Castle.

Tokyo Disneyland Club 33

The second exclusive club to open in Disney parks made its debut in 1983 in Tokyo, Japan. The lounge and restaurant venue is located within World Bazaar. World Bazaar is Tokyo Disneyland’s take on Main Street, U.S.A., but is covered by an almost Parisian-style glass ceiling.

Tokyo Disneyland Club 33 members enter the club through a discrete doorway, where they are treated to lavish fine dining presented over multiple courses. The club is exquisitely decorated in an elegant style reflecting the World Bazaar’s turn-of-the-century inspiration. Guests also have the privilege of accessing a spectacular private balcony where they can enjoy incomparable views of Cinderella’s castle.

Shanghai Disney Club 33

It would be 33 years until the next Club 33 destination would be introduced to elite parkgoers. In 2016, Shanghai Disney Resort opened to the public – but not all features of the park would be accessible by everyone. With the park’s opening, Imagineers included the third Club 33 location on Mickey Avenue.

Mickey Avenue, like Tokyo’s World Bazaar, is the equivalent of Main Street U.S.A. Instead of calling upon 19th-century influences like its predecessors, Shanghai Disney’s Club 33 took a more magical route. Inspired by Fantasia , this location pays tribute to the animated classic film through whimsical yet sophisticated furnishings as well as hidden motifs that fans will recognize as they dine.

Who Can Get Into Club 33?

Club 33 is extremely exclusive, only accepting a few hundred members per destination. Additionally, membership to one Club 33 location won’t grant you access to other destinations. With such limited allowance for membership, not just anybody can join the club.

Membership comes with a hefty price tag that filters out most people – for the original Club 33 in Anaheim, members must deposit a $60,000 initial invitation investment along with $25,000 in annual dues. It’s rumored that membership cost varies based on destination, but either way—Club 33 ain’t cheap.

  • An annual pass for each year you are a member of Club 33
  • 50 single-day guest passes to the parks
  • Private VIP tours, offered yearly
  • Club 33 merchandise offered only to members
  • Miscellaneous VIP services
  • Sneak peeks on park news
  • Complimentary resort hotel upgrades
  • Valet parking
  • Access to 1901, the exclusive lounge in Carthay Circle Theater

Club 33 at Disney Parks

On top of monetary cost, an even more challenging obstacle lies in the way of those seeking membership. Club 33 is accessible by invite only – so even if you’ve got the cash, there’s no guarantee that Disney will deem you worthy of the club. Several factors play into whether or not someone is eligible, but as you may expect, the primary variables are fame, money, and influence. Known members include Elizabeth Taylor, Christina Aguilera, Elton John, Tom Hanks, Tiger Woods, Michael Jackson, and Katy Perry.

Disney World Club 33 - Secrets, Cost, Membership, Perks & More

Club 33, Walt Disney World logo

One of Disney World's biggest secrets is Club 33, an elite, exclusive dining club steeped in Disney history and limited to members-only only and invited guests.

Club 33 came from the mind of Walt Disney himself as a place within the park to host Disneyland VIPs and corporate sponsors.

The first-ever club opened above Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in 1967 and is still in operation today. However, the allure of a secret in-park dining club led Disney to open Club 33 locations at its other theme parks, including Walt Disney World in Florida.

[ Here's When Tiana's Bayou Adventure Opening Is Expected to Happen at Disney World (Month Prediction) ]

Everything To Know about Disney World's Club 33

Disneyland Club 33

Like Disneyland's original Club 33 and Disney California Adventure's 1901 Lounge, Disney World's Club 33 locales are also fine-dining restaurants and lounges showcasing Disney's long history.

However, Disney World's Club 33 is different in that it offers four different locations (one at each park), and all uniquely designed to reflect Walt Disney's globe-trotting adventures.

Where Is Disney World's Club 33?

The following is a breakdown of Walt Disney World's Club 33 locations and where to find them:

  • Disney's Hollywood Studios - Spotlight Lounge

Walt Disney World's first Club 33 opened at Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2018 and can be found on the second floor of The Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant.

Known as Spotlight Lounge, it's rumored to reflect the restaurant's Old Hollywood theme.

  • EPCOT - Constellation Club

EPCOT's Club 33 is called the Constellation Club; but despite its somewhat sleek and modern design, it's housed inside The American Adventure show building, which is inspired by Colonial American architecture like Monticello and Independence Hall.

As Constellation Club operates in what was previously EPCOT's Disney Visa cardholder lounge, the space offers stunning views of the World Showcase Lagoon and Epcot's nightly fireworks show.

  • The Magic Kingdom - The Captain's Quarters

Magic Kingdom's Club 33 in Adventureland

The Captain's Quarters is Magic Kingdom's Club 33 location and sits right at the entrance to the Adventureland.

In addition to views of Cinderella Castle across the way, Captain's Quarters is filled with tributes to the now-defunct Adventurer's Club.

  • Animal Kingdom - Harambe House

Tucked between Pandora - The World of Avatar and Africa is Animal Kingdom's Club 33 location, Harambe House. While walking between the two lands, guests can spot the building just off the path which bears the phrase "Thelathini na tutu," which is Swahili for thirty-three.

How To Join Club 33 - Membership Application Details

Disney World Club 33 entrance

To reach out about applying for Club 33 membership, fans are encouraged to contact Disney via [email protected] .

However, the waiting list is known to take years and membership requires a multi-step screening process including written applications and an interview. Ultimately, it's up to Disney who receives the invite.

Still. That's not all. Once approved, prospective members still have to pay an initiation fee to become members and then be prepared to pay an annual fee.

How Much Does Disney World's Club 33 Cost?

Thought the Disney Parks were expensive? Buckle up.

The last reported cost consisted of a hefty $35,000 upfront fee for membership, followed by an annual fee of $16,000.

What Perks Come With Club 33 Membership?

For those able and willing to fork over the cash and endure the lengthy application process, Disney World Club 33 members enjoy a variety of perks, such as:

  • A Walt Disney World Annual Pass for the primary member, a spouse, and any kids under the age of 18 years old (some reports claim the Annual Pass is limited to the park where the individual is a member)
  • 50 single-day Park Hopper tickets for family and friends
  • Access to Club 33 lounges at all four theme parks
  • 5 VIP tours each year
  • Entry to VIP events and experiences, including attraction previews and exclusive parties
  • Club 33 concierge access
  • A select number of Genie+ reservations for Walt Disney World visits
  • Ability to purchase exclusive Club 33 merchandise

Yacht Clubs celebrate Opening Days

yacht club 33

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif.-The Association of Santa Barbara Channel Yacht Clubs put up boating flags in celebration of the 2024 boating season.

Ventura County yacht clubs planned a number openings days events.

Clubs held opening day ceremonies and receptions on Saturday morning.

The Ventura Yacht Club hosted its 86th Opening Day ceremony followed by a party on the dock.

Burgees or pennants with the colors of the clubs waved in the windy weather.

Some clubs hosted open houses.

They welcomed potential members of neighboring club members to check out club amenities.

Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club, known as PCYC, invited people in for music and dining.

One club member brought over an electric boat designed to look like a Tiki bar.

An "All Club Boat Parade" will take place at 8 :30 a.m. on Sunday in the Channel Islands Harbor.

Upon move in of the apartment we weren't allowed to view the apartment until we signed the lease. Upon inspection we found several issues with the apartment as shown in the pictures provided. The electric outlet in the living room was not even wired correctly which could have caused a fire. The cabinet doors are old, stained and never replaced and was never cleaned for use. The bathroom had mold and mildew as shown in the photos as we moved in (we had to clean the mildew as the management failed to do so). In addition, the claim they have 24/7 security, but in fact they leave the visitors gate open 24/7 allowing anyone to walk onto the premises at any time day or night. I have not seen any security patrolling the campus for the short we have been here. It has been three weeks and was told I could make a payment online using the website provided. However, in the last three days no notice was given there was rent due and despite going onto the website for four days there was no payment notification associated with the account and then later that day I received a late payment notice and tried to log back into the website where I discovered they disabled the website. To make matters worse, when they disable the website on the fourth day so you can't make a payment, I had to wait the following day, Monday 6/5/23, to make a payment and was told they only accept payment by certified funds. This management didn't acknowledge their error nor were they willing to compromise a payment even though I went to the main office to make a payment. In summary, had I known about the way this campus was managed and how they only care about money and not your livelihood, I would have spent more money for another well managed apartment home and would NOT RECOMMEND Lien Bach Properties to anyone making a good living as this campus is more suited for those only comfortable paying a slum lord. Good news, I am only here for 5 more months and can't wait to move!!!

The most wack place and people to rent from. It's a joke Fr. I stayed for two years and when I first moved in they told me the apartment would be ready, it wasn't. the floors were half ass done, their job was cutting out pieces of carpet to fix the carpet with mix match pieces. The paint they use is cheap, if you try to wipe something off the wall the paint comes off too, they shut off the water constantly and always spray your apartment, they also talk about you once they leave your apartment(caught it on my ring camera). Plus if you get an apartment near the front office they act like they should be in your business and watch all your guest walk in and out and then soon after you'll get a letter stating no over night guest and/or people living there that ain't on the least, my boyfriend came to stay with me for a week and they sent me a letter. Both my cars got broken into by another resident and they did nothing. The cameras they have around the property don't work, from what I was told by the manager. I moved out thank god and I hired an apartment cleaner to clean to apartment top to bottom that me and my 3 year old lived in and they said things were broken and the carpet was damaged then changed me to replace the carpet I told them about when I first moved in, which should already had been done. Do not move here, pick somewhere else. You'll get kicked in the butt later down the road.

This is most crooked lying apartment complex in Tulsa. Please do not move to these apartments. They cheated me out of money because I paid a 150 deposit and also paid 150 satellite deposit. I was told I would get them back when I moved out. But then they changed management and Tammy in the front office wouldn't give my deposits back. All because I called and complained that maintenance wasn't fixing things. It was taking almost 2 weeks for them to even show up and when they did they would just look at the ice maker and say I will come back in a few days. Never once tried to fix it and then Tammy had the nerve to tell me that I will never fix that ice maker for you. So I went almost 3 months before I was going to move out without a working ice maker. Also she tried to charge me 250 for a satellite dish on the balcony that DirecTV put up remember not me. So it wasn't my fault where DirecTV put the satellite. So finally called corporate and got the 250 charge remove. But wait it didn't stop their when I put in my 30 day notice the girl in the office said that I would only have to pay 344 plus water which water is around 35 or so. So I went on the online portal and paid 376 which was final payment of rent plus water and confirmed that with office staff that it was the last payment. Then I spent 4 hours cleaning the apartment sweating like crazy cleaning it. They didn't even appreciate that and charged me 20 dollars for refrigerator 5 dollars for dishwasher 150 dollars to resurface countertops which wasn't my fault they started to look bad. Because it was a cheap spray that was peeling day one it was done. Then 75 dollars for satellite dish when I was suppose to never be charged again for that. Get this 20 dollar charge for dust on the ceiling fans which is ridiculous never heard that one before. Charged me 2.00 for a light bulb that burned out. Maintenance has always changed the bulbs since I lived there. I lived there almost 6 years and when I say don't move there I mean it. They will charge you for all kinds of things if they decide they don't like you. Also the corporate office is crooked as well because terra in the office agreed with me that I shouldn't be getting on a latter to take a satellite dish down myself but then flipped her story upside down a couple of days later acting like she had no clue what she said. DirecTV said that yacht club would have to take down satellite or leave up for next tenent. Tammy and her office staff kept saying I needed to take it it down a take a chance of getting injured. It never said in any contract that I was suppose to take it down. So since satellite was still up obviously because I wasn't taking it down. They charged me 75 to have maintenance take it down. Now that is some BS because that was not in my control to have it removed. Also I heard from other maintenance staff that they are cheap when it comes to fixing things. So that explains why they made up all these bogus move out charges so they didn't have to give me my deposits back that I deserved. Instead I had to pay then 104.62 and if you add that up because I should have got 300 back from my deposits they cost me 404.62 that I will never get back. One Final thing before I forget Terra in the corporate office tried to tell me that I didn't need to pay the 104.62 for up to 60 days and that it wouldn't go to credit bureau. But I am smart and always a few steps ahead of yacht club. When I looked at the charges on my email it said that it needed to be paid within 10 days to avoid going to credit bureau. So terra tried to lie and get me to pay after the 10 days just so she could report against my credit and then act like nothing happened. So of course I paid it immediately and got a final paid in full receipt. Also their was a girl named sofia in the office that was very rude and disrespectful always cutting me off when I was talking and telling me to be quiet and let her talk. So you have to watch who your talking with in the office as well. Bottom line don't trust anyone in the office. They are very shady so please never move there unless you want them to empty out your pockets! I needed to make sure that I let everyone know about the terrible treatment I got when I was a on time paying tenent that never missed a single payment and would hate to see how you treat tenents that don't pay on time horrific. I got the last laugh moving to a much nicer place. They never affected me mentally like they wanted to. Don't allow them to to the same to you.

Thank you for your feedback. Our goal is to stay true to the highest ethical standards and principles, be honest, trustworthy and humble in all of our words and actions. We follow the lease contract when assessing fees and/or charges. We are so sorry to hear that you are not totally satisfied with our property, and we would like to address each individual concern with you. Regarding the Satellite Dish, Section 23 Satellite Dishes on your lease agreement states if you fail to remove the Satellite Dish that your deposit will cover the cause to remove it. I did not back on my story, I did state that you should not have removed the Dish yourself because you stated that you hurt yourself and did not have a ladder; the dish had to be removed with a ladder. Regarding the work orders for the ice maker, we had 3 different Maintenance employees in your unit and all 3 stated that there was nothing wrong with the ice maker. Regarding the cleaning charges, you signed a notice to vacate form with cleaning charges that would be assessed if not cleaned, we offered to walk the unit with you at move out (you refused) and we also offered to let you come back to clean the items to get that charge removed (also refused). Regarding the move out statement that stated to pay within 10 days to avoid going to a credit bureau was not told to you incorrectly, it states to contact us within 10 days to avoid and since you did so, we give you 60 days to make the payment before it is turned over to collections.

Yacht club apartments have a severe Roach problem and do nothing about it. Also if you need anything fixed make sure you watch the maintenance guy to make sure it is fixed correctly.

Photo of Johnny S.

I have nothing but great things to say about the staff at the yacht club. Maritza was more than helpful, courteous and patient with us and answered every question we had. Ive lived here for a month now and its been well kept, quiet and once again, the staff has been very accommodating. For the price and being centrally located, you can't beat this place.

Photo of Mackenzie C.

I have lived here for 3 years. When we first moved in, it was wonderful. We would always recieve maintenance help within hours of filing an order, even if it was 10pm and the power goes out! Problems were actually solved, not just covered up, and the office management was incredibly kind and helpful. It was a great price too! And then the new management came. Since then, I've had maintenance orders that take more than 10 days to complete. Even when maintenance comes, they only cover up a problem but never fix it (ex. Our upstairs neighbor's bathtub leaks profusely to the point popcorn and water began to heavily flood our tub underneath! It took days for the first visit where he just put popcorn on the ceiling and left. It took 5 more visits for it to be in it's current state- a saggy brown moldy ceiling that isnt currently leaking but based on past experience it will again soon.) The roach infestation is so bad we ask them to spray regularly and I still play a game of whack-a-roach just to use a microwave or get a cup of water. They can get in the fridge too, ps. And theyve infested our microwave and dishwasher. Maintenance refuses to do anything but keep sending someone to spray which obviously isnt helping. We also had our apartment broken into with a crowbar at night while we were home. Maintenance refused to look at the camera. We have also had our bikes stolen 2 separate times and they refuse to look at the camera. My car was hit in plain view of the camera but they wont look at the footage. I asked them repeatedly and it took 2 weeks to get a call back where they said, "uhhhh yeah I couldnt see anything. Sorryyyy! Byeeee." The neighbors are psychotic, and no noise complaint seems to do much. I've heard the male literally beating the shit out of the woman next door, called the complex, and I never saw a cop or anything come or talk to me or anyone. This may be a "gated community" with "24/7 surveillance" but dont let them fool you. This is the worst complex I have ever lived in. As soon as our lease is up, you can bet your ass we are out of here.

Photo of Lauren D.

While we had some problems at first, the management team has really gone out of their way to make us happy. Teddy is hilarious! I feel pretty bad because I was not too nice at first, but really they are nice people and for the price, this place isn't too bad. The occasional roach, but not anything I can't handle.

Photo of Patricia T.

Awful company. Nothing but bad experiences, damage to my property, and oh how they lie. What comes around goes around. Do NOT live there.

Photo of Wren H.

There are more shady things at this apartment complex than the trees. The manager and the females he has working the front desk area are unprofessional. And each time you come to the office to get help the female is dazed and confused about anything pertaining to doing their job. They spout inaccuracies and when they are pressed for facts they make it up as they go along. The management is incompetent, unethical and negligent. They will try to bill for bogus charges. When challenged about the legitimacy, the manager screams and makes derogatory remarks at me in front of other people or tenants in the office. I'm still traumatized by my encounter with the two people I faced in the management office.

In Russia, the western concept of building architecturally beautiful golf courses filled with modern and luxurious amenities has found fertile ground. What was considered a frivolous pastime during the time of the Soviets has become the latest trend for the stylish set. These days, there are countless options around Moscow to practice golf, polo, ski, yachting, and other sports alongside 5-star hotels, luxurious country houses, and magnificent villas.

The game of golf is a sport that requires passion and expertise. It is also part of a culture that considers this pastime a synonym of social prestige and exclusivity. In recent years, the new Russian elite has turned to golf as a vehicle of integration in the era of globalization. Golf courses are also meeting and socializing spaces where Muscovite tycoons can relax and also seal business deals.

Golf Courses in Russia

The Moscow Country Club, Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club, Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club, and Zavidovo Golf Club, PGA National Russia are some of the most exclusive and elegant golf courses in Russia. PETER DUNCAN AND RELATIVE OBSCURITY WIN THE 2021 J/70 WORLDS

Peter Duncan and Relative Obscurity Return to the Podium as J/70 World Champion at California Yacht Club

Peter Duncan’s Relative Obscurity has prevailed over 60 other teams and challenging wind conditions to capture the 2021 J/70 World Championship title at California Yacht Club, today. In a five-day series that tested the skill and patience of top-notch competitors from 11 nations, Duncan – sailing with Willem van Waay, Morgan Trubovich and Victor Diaz de Leon – secured a top five position in the beginning of the regatta and never let go.

“I’m elated!” said Duncan as he returned to the dock, bustling with activity. “That was a tough day out there. We didn’t start very well but had a bit of a break with a header on the first run of the second race that let us get close to everybody and sail through some folks we need to sail through,” he explained. “We have a lot of fun onboard – joke and laugh and keep it light – and that worked in our favor when we had to grind through. Everybody knows what their job is, and these guys do them exceptionally well.”

“It was very cool that there were four boats who could have won this thing in the last race...”

CALIFORNIA YACHT CLUB

Founded originally in 1922 by yachtsmen including Charles Hathaway and Frank Garbutt, the California Yacht Club's first clubhouse was built in Wilmington, CA in Los Angeles' inner harbor (berths nos. 192 & 193), just opposite Terminal Island. Close by were the yards of renowned yacht builders Wilmington Boat Works and Fellows & Stewart (second location). In the club's inaugural year, member yachtsmen formed the first Star class fleet on the Pacific coast. Involved in all aspect of the sport, the club has encouraged a variety of pleasure boating, first in Los Angeles Harbor, and now in Santa Monica Bay.

Over the years CYC has been the club for numerous prominent yachtsmen including Merritt Adamson, Pierpont Davis, Roy E. Disney, J. Paul Getty, Samuel K. Rindge, William Stewart, James Kilroy and navigator extraodinaire, Ben Mitchell. Movie mogul Cecil B. DeMille once served as a trustee of the club and donated a gold cup for powerboat racing. Comedy film producers Al Christie and Hal Roach were both deeply involved in club activities in the twenties and thirties.

Power boating has always been a part of the club's mission along with sailing and rowing. The first CYC powerboat regatta was run in 1922 and the winner was none less than the famous Gar Wood in his Harmsworth Trophy winner Miss America. CYC's Catalina Challenge race for powerboats has been run annually since 1922.

A fire on Thanksgiving Day, 1930 severely damaged the original clubhouse although the heroic efforts of some members saved all of the trophies.

In 1932, several CYC members figured prominently in the sailing events at the Los Angeles Olympic Games. Owen Churchill, inventor of the SwimFin, won the gold medal in the Eight-Metre Class with Angelita.

Unfortunately, the club was forced to relinquish its key location in the East Basin to the Coast Guard for the war effort in 1941. A dormant period followed.

With the development of the long-awaited Marina Del Rey in the early 1960s, the club reformed in '63 and elected Fritz Overton, Commodore in 1923, as head of the "new" club. In 1966, they opened the modern clubhouse and marina facility that is their home today. The radial design of the building allows sweeping panoramic views of the marina.

The California Yacht Club is owned by the Hathaway family, owners of the Los Angeles Athletic Club. The annual "Great Catalina to Marina del Rey Rowing and Paddling Event" pays tribute to Charles Hathaway's row in 1976 from Catalina Island to the club on his 50th birthday.

The unique combination of private ownership and annually elected flag officers has worked well to establish California Yacht Club as one of the outstanding clubs in the nation.

‘Nothing left’: After California Yacht Club fire, residents mourn loss of a beloved spot

Two firefighters injured fighting a massive overnight fire that destroyed

In an instant, an overnight seaside blaze engulfed decades’ worth of boating trophies, historical artifacts and cherished memorabilia at the California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey on Monday.

Fire crews attempted to control the blaze as heavy smoke and flames consumed the two-story building. By the time they had subdued the fire two hours later, only the skeletal remnants of the clubhouse were left standing.

John Myers, senior vice president of the club, said the blaze had been reported by an employee working late in the clubhouse Monday night. The fire spared the remainder of the facilities on the ground, including the docks and the yachts moored there. But the clubhouse, and particularly its second floor, was all but wiped out.

“We are working closely with the Los Angeles County Fire Department in their investigation of the cause of the incident and will share those findings when they become available to us,” Myers said.

The three towers that make up the Marina City Club

Members are left mourning, comparing the loss to the death of a loved one.

Jennifer Dakoske Koslu awoke in Rancho Mirage at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, before the sun had risen, to find her phone inundated with text messages from club members.

The first message she read simply stated, “The CYC is gone.”

“As soon as I opened my phone, it went to a link on the Citizen app and saw a video of the club burning. I was shocked,” Dakoske Koslu said.

For the last 24 years, Dakoske Koslu and her family have been dedicated members of the CYC, whose clubhouse is a few miles away from their home in Playa del Rey. She said it is where her children have grown up, familiarizing themselves with every inch.

“I remember taking my son there on the Fourth of July when he was just 3 weeks old. It was the first place we went with him as a newborn,” Dakoske Koslu said.

She and her husband biked to the club in the aftermath of the fire, greeted by the charred remains of the building on Wednesday afternoon.

“The destruction is unbelievable. It’s clear that the fire was burning intensely on the second floor,” Dakoske Koslu said. “There’s nothing left.”

The second floor once housed a collection of the club’s prestigious racing trophies, kept on display for members and visitors. The fire melted all but a single salvageable California Cup. Most notably, the priceless King of Spain Trophy, acquired in 1929 from King Alfonso XIII, was lost.

Additionally, the club lost cherished photographs of every past commodore, a significant position within a yacht club. Members said they didn’t know if anyone had digitized the images of the commodores or of the club’s founders.

“We would tell yachting stories at the bar around lots of memorabilia, and the yachting artifacts behind the bar are all gone now,” Tom Materna said. “The yacht club provided us a facility for the off-the-water celebrations after hard-fought competition on the water.”

Boats on the water with palm trees in the background

The CYC dates to the early 1920s, started by boat owners from the Los Angeles Athletic Club and other yacht clubs. The Board of Harbor Commissioners approved the first clubhouse in 1922, designed by famed architect Edwin Bergstrom, co-designer of the Pentagon.

In 1965, the yacht club submitted a proposal for an all-encompassing $1-million, two-story, 10,000-square-foot clubhouse on four acres off Admiralty Way. Members envisioned a state-of-the-art facility with 170 boat slips, a guest dock, a small boat hoist and a dry land storage facility for boats. The clubhouse that resulted was dedicated on June 10, 1967.

Then-Commodore William A. DeGroot Jr. told The Times that the triangular parcel of land on which the clubhouse still sits is a “perfectly logical place for a club facility, and a commanding view down the main channel of the marina.”

Though the building has historical significance to its members, it does not have a historic designation, according to Linda Dishman, president of the Los Angeles Conservancy.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and so grateful for the outpouring of support from the community and our members,” Myers said. “CYC has been a beacon for the nautical community for the past 101 years.”

Materna, 68, first found out about the fire through Facebook as friends posted videos and photos of the damage Tuesday morning. Then he began receiving calls and text messages from friends.

“Everybody woke up in the morning and realized we’d lost a significant part of the sailing community,” Materna said.

His connection to the club dates back nearly 52 years, to when he was just 16 years old. After spending 30 years sailing professionally with Hobie Cats, mainly racing catamarans — a watercraft with two parallel hulls of equal size — he recently served as a crew member on other club members’ racing yachts.

The CYC is pivotal in the boat racing community, organizing and hosting events such as the Optimist National Championship and Junior Olympic trials, Materna said. He fondly remembers the hundreds of people from across the globe converging on the marina for similar events.

The main topic among members now is what’s next for the club. Dakoske Koslu noted that the club’s ownership changed over the last few years, and many are unsure and concerned about the club’s continuation after the fire.

The club relocated to the marina in 1967, leasing the land it sits on from the county.

“I don’t think the county has really valued the contributions of the California Yacht Club as an important part of the Marina. They value Trader Joe’s because it’s more money for them,” Dakoske Koslu said.

Dakoske Koslu said she’s seen numerous small marine-oriented businesses displaced from the marina, making way for more commercialized developments such as Trader Joe’s and Recreational Equipment Inc.
