The best superyacht spas in the world

With onboard wellness an increasing priority for  superyacht owners , spas on yachts are becoming even more luxurious. From saunas and steam rooms to live-in physical therapists, these superyachts spas have everything you need for a pampering at sea. We round up the best below...

Ahpo's leafy retreat

Curves, leaves, waves and bamboo – Ahpo 's impressive spa was designed by interior outfitter List but guided by all things Gaia. Found on the lower deck, it encompasses a plunge pool, a Himalayan salt sauna, a Hamman and a massage room, each decorated with nature-themed mosaics and twinkling fibre optics in the ceiling. The wellness space also features its own hair salon, a fountain carved from ivory and onyx and a backlit statement wall, made by pressing artificial bamboo between two glass panes.

More about this yacht

Force blue's candle-lit swiss spa.

Captain Tarquini once called this spa "the pearl of [ Force Blue ]". Candlelit, black-tiled and staffed by a Chenot-trained therapist, it's easy to see where he was coming from. Amenities include a hair styling and make-up room, a separate massage room and a Hammam – though the "emotional shower" is the spa's conversation starter. On either side of the shower are alcoves with Chenot-derived pieces of speciality spa kit, a heated table used for mud wraps and a hydrotherapy bath for improved circulation and jet lag recovery. Stairs from the saloon lead directly to the spa, so it is easily accessible and can be enjoyed even when underway.

Victorious' sky blue spa.

In 2021, Victorious debuted at the Monaco Yacht Show as a superyacht over 14 years in the making – and her beach-club spa was well worth the wait. Measuring 200 square metres, the space is decorated with mosaic tiles in shades of sky blue with amenities including two lounges and bars, three folding sea terraces, a dedicated gym, a massage and treatment room, a Hammam and a beauty salon. For any treatment or spa service, guests can rely on the two crew members who are fully qualified as an expert masseuse, spa therapist and fitness instructor.

Q's warming wellness centre

Converted into an explorer by Icon Yachts in 2020, Q has been designed for cruising cold weather climes and has the superyacht spa to match. Warm travertine and teak help guests warm up after a day on the slopes or an ice-cold shower – and the alpine comforts continue with warmed benches, a sauna and snow machine.

Whisper's atmospheric spa

Placed deep within the ship, Whisper 's Persian-inspired spa benefits from little motion and a darker, moodier ambience – creating what Pascal Reymond calls a "naturally [...] meditative space". Rich-coloured stones blended with glass and carved woods set the scene, while her lengthy list of services include a Hammam, steam shower, massage room, separate hair and beauty salon and dedicated onboard hairdresser. Hidden access also prevents crew and visiting therapists from disrupting owner areas.

Tatiana's secret leisure centre

When Tatiana is anchored the aft door and side terraces unfold, revealing her main attraction; an inviting spa. The leisure space encompasses two pools (one above the other) and two bars. Light comes from reveals in the walls and small LED lights which shine like tiny stars over a lounge adjacent to a shell door. Glass columns, Carrara marble and a backlit, blue agate floor near the bar complement the teak deck that surrounds the pool. There’s also a cosy massage room with another shell door, for a massage en plein air , a shower and a steam room to round out the indulgent space.

Ace's Romanesque spa

The 85-metre Ace (designed by Andrew Winch ) is now believed to be named Eye following a recent, comprehensive refit. While the fate of her interiors is yet to be revealed, her original Romanesque spa is still worth an entry. Decorated with pietra dura (mosaics using semi-precious stones), Byzantine-style mosaic floors, columns and hand-painted trompe l’oeil lemon groves, Moran Yacht & Ship once described it as "one of the most beautiful and functional spas ever seen". Amenities include a Hammam, sauna, spa pool, icy plunge pool and a lounge adjacent to a huge fold-down sea terrace.

Cloudbreak's cosy spa

At 72.3 metres overall and 2,200GT, Cloudbreak is an explorer with plenty of room to cater for adventure seekers – and spa enthusiasts too, it seems. Found adjacent to the yacht's lower deck workout room, Guillaume Rolland of Studio Liaigre has created a cosy, sauna-like atmosphere onboard this "floating chalet" .

Yachts for charter

Legend's balinese superyacht spa.

Legend draws on a wide range of international cultures for her stunning interiors, befitting a yacht that was born to explore. When it comes to the superyacht spa, it is Bali that provides the inspiration, with intricate stonework, decorative wood carvings and Buddhist statues giving this area a peaceful South East Asian atmosphere.

Lady Britt's on-the-water spa

Guests can (literally) jump from hot to cold onboard Lady Britt , with a steamy Finnish sauna that opens out onto the ocean. The superyacht's wellness area features space for massage and hairdressing, while her panoramic gym’s sliding glass doors open to the large spa pool on the sundeck.

Onboard Obsession: The New Ritz-Carlton Yacht's Spa Terrace Takes Deep Relaxation to the Bow of a Mega Yacht

By Shannon McMahon

Image may contain Transportation Vehicle Yacht Boat Cruise Ship Ship Animal and Bird

Onboard Obsession is a new series that explores the can't-miss highlights of the best-loved cruises—from the shore excursions to book to the spa treatments too relaxing to pass up.

No matter how much you plan for travel, it can be a haul— especially right now . So thankfully there are those rare, deep-relaxation moments on vacation; although they can be far and few when you’re on the road, negotiating your time against all that you hope to see. Among some of my personal favorites are two particularly meditative options: The aftermath of a splurge-worthy spa experience ; emerging fresh from an intense massage, hot sauna, or soothing skin treatment, wrapped in a warm terry-cloth robe and savoring the buzz in a serene relaxation room where everyone’s a little bit flushed, hair-tousled, and not quite ready to depart their cocoon. The other, for me, is drinking in an ocean horizon line from the bow of a boat—something meditative on its own, but particularly hypnotizing when you can linger over the view, preferably with a beverage in hand, hearing the waves lap the sides of the bow and feeling the salt air whip toward you from an endless stretch of waves.

It’s even rarer to get the opportunity to combine these two supremely tranquil states of being—but that's exactly the experience that the Evrima , the first ship from Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection , has achieved. The hotel brand’s first and only 623-foot ship began sailing the European Mediterranean this fall. (The yacht's five- to 12-day journeys head for the Caribbean this winter.) At sea since October, the super yacht houses six restaurants, 149 guest rooms (all are suites with private balconies) and will be matched with two sister ships coming in 2024 and 2025.

The ninth-deck spa terrace onboard Ritz-Carlton Evrima , the hotel brand's first Yacht Collection ship

The Ritz-Carlton Evrima ’s ninth deck spa is perhaps the best symbol of the concept that the brand is newly pursuing: All the comforts of a five-star hotel, taken to sea on a vessel small enough to reach ports the big ships don’t. As Ritz-Carlton already has the firepower of a beloved spa concept, the at-sea version of its signature massage delivers: Knowledgeable and experienced therapists (the ship amassed thousands of resumes in hiring for 250 crew positions) who customize treatments to your needs, plus aromatherapy-forward techniques, ESPA products, and high-tech treatment rooms all had me feeling more like I was at a spa retreat rather than floating somewhere off the Cote d’Azur.

On a recent sailing between Antibes and Sanary-sur-mer in the French Riviera, Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection CEO Doug Prothero—who’s a former sea captain himself—told me that the Spa Terrace's creation was a happy accident: It was initially meant to serve as a supplement to the fitness center, reserved for exercise classes. And while it still does serve as such for morning programming options like yoga and meditation, spa-goers have discovered it and made the deck their own. This is perhaps thanks to the hot tub that serves as something of a figurehead of the ship, bubbling steam from the frontmost point of the deck like a beacon in the distance. The wind-screened cabana pods and sun beds facing the sea are also perfect for post-treatment naps to extend that post-spa glow, or for simply taking in the approaching shoreline with a glass of champagne in hand. In my case, the Belle Epoque buildings of fabulous Monaco, where I had spent the morning walking a long loop of the city, were the perfect backdrop to a cool down after a steam in the spa’s sauna.

The happy accident that made the spa deck also makes it evident that hotel-at-sea cruises like Ritz-Carlton’s Evrima are being fluid and agile as the first of their kind at sea. This aims to be a non-cruise, as evidenced by the “yacht” heavy branding. Evrima (meaning “discovery,” in Greek) swaps overindulgence for glamor and relaxation. Anything even remotely resembling a buffet has been nixed for six elevated- to fine-dining food venues—the main star on Evrima , in particular, is a small five-course dining venue by three-Michelin-star chef Sven Elverfeld of the Ritz-Carlton Wolfsbug in Germany (which costs an extra, $285 per-head fee with wine pairings).

The replacement for shore excursions? Ritz-Carlton “experiences” that leave plenty of free time for your own adventure (also for a fee), plus multi-day dockings encouraging passengers to step ashore (or take a small tender boat) to explore the mainland on their own, by day or night. Onboard, live-music in communal bar areas await groups when they return to the ship in the evening. In Prothero and Ritz-Carlton’s telling of the bookings, Evrima passengers are so far made up of non-cruisers seeking more time ashore: A vast majority (about 80 percent) of passengers have never cruised before, and most guests are between the ages of 35 to 55. For two guests, Caribbean sailings start at about $10,000 per week—European itineraries start at about $12,000.

There's no denying the 623-foot, 300-guest ship is still something of a playground—you could fit three mega yachts (which start at about 60 meters) on the length of Evrima . It’s perfect for those who dream of a Below Deck -style getaway with enough space to make new friends. But it still manages to feel special, especially in its quiet spaces and the moments between tiring yourself out ashore and getting a nightcap amid the Observation Deck’s rowdy piano bar singalongs.

Not usually one to imbibe during a wellness focused activity, I initially turned down a glass of champagne on my arrival to the Evrima spa. But emerging from a dim steam room to the fresh air of the Spa Terrace about an hour later, feeling wholly invigorated, I gave in upon a second offer from a server staffing the terrace. Soaking in Monaco from that wind-whipped perch after working out all the muscle kinks of a morning walking around on shore—that’s one of those rare, slow travel moments I’ll savor for a long time, until I can nab the next one.

The ultimate guide to The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

Andrea M. Rotondo

  • The 298-passenger Evrima — the first ship in the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection — set sail in October.
  • The all-suite yacht offers six types of accommodations — all with balconies and 24/7 room service.
  • Enjoy fine food aboard: A three-star Michelin chef designed some dining experiences.

In one of my favorite movies, "Almost Famous," fictional groupie Penny Lane opined that "It's all happening!" The rock band closest to her heart was finally making it big and she could not contain her glee. I felt that same sense of enthusiasm when The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection finally set sail on Oct. 15, 2022.

It's been a long time coming. The launch of the line was delayed for three years due to a variety of circumstances that included slowdowns at the shipyard , the pandemic and moving its first yacht to a new shipyard for completion. So it was a thrilling moment when its first ship, Evrima, welcomed guests in Barcelona on Saturday.

Way back in 2017, executives at The Ritz-Carlton announced the development of a line of brand-new yachts that would supposedly change the face of luxury cruising — at least for Marriott loyalists and anyone that prefers a small-ship experience.

Whether you're road-tripping or globetrotting, the suite life is always better. Download the free TPG App to upgrade your travel!

Evrima is the first superyacht in the Ritz trio. Ilma and Luminara will join it in the future.

Luxury travel fans that love small-ship sailing with a focus on "greatest hits" cruise destinations, suite-style accommodations and Michelin-level dining want to know if The Ritz-Carlton is worth the wait. Read on for a guide to this brand-new cruise line.

3 things TPG loves about The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

  • The superyacht Evrima is intimate, accommodating 298 passengers.
  • The aft Marina platform affords easy entry to the sea for swimming and nonmotorized water sports.
  • An all-inclusive fare includes beverages, tips, all dining, Wi-Fi, a personal concierge and more.

What we could do without

  • We wish the tie-in with Marriott Bonvoy's loyalty program was a bit more advantageous for elites. You need to be Marriott Titanium or higher to receive complimentary priority boarding and departure benefits. We'd love to see the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card add priority boarding as a benefit in the future.
  • We'd also love to see some more unusual ports of call once the line hits its stride. For example, while Ritz's Athens (Piraeus), Greece round-trip itinerary with an overnight call on Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey plus Santoniri and Milos, Greece may entice new-to-cruisers, those who take several luxury cruises a year have probably already been to all of those ports of call — more than once or twice. (We know: first-world problems.)

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection's fleet

spa yacht

At the inception of the cruise line, the company announced it would sail three identical yachts. While three yachts are still the plan — Ilma and Luminara are set to join Evrima in 2024 and 2025, respectively — the ships will not have the same design.

The line tapped Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France, to build ships two and three, and Ilma and Luminara will be much larger than Evrima. They'll be 171 feet longer than their sister ship and measure 46,750 gross register tons compared with Evrima's roughly 24,000 gross register tons. Like Evrima, the second and third ships will be all-suite ships, but they will feature 228 suites instead of 149. Additionally, the next-generation ships will have a higher percentage of larger suites than Evrima.

According to the cruise line, it has an eye toward sustainability. In regards to Ilma and Luminara, it says "each vessel will be fitted with four dual-fuel engines and utilize liquefied natural gas (LNG) as its main fuel source, significantly reducing emissions as compared to traditional practices. Additionally, the yachts will include advanced water treatment systems, an efficient heat recovery loop, LED lighting, and more, with the goal of minimizing environmental impact."

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has an option to order two additional yachts from the shipyard. It will be interesting to see if the line sticks to its three initial ships or expands to a five-ship fleet.

Destinations and itineraries

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has solved a problem I've had for a long time with the luxury cruise market: the length of the sailings offered. Often, luxury lines program incredible voyages of 14 or more nights. Sure, they sound wonderful and I'd love to go ahead and book them. But, my husband is a small business owner, and my job is busy too; it's hard for us to take two weeks or more of vacation at once. We prefer high-end vacations that are on the shorter side.

The Ritz yacht offers a nice mix of voyages that span four to 12 nights, making it much easier for working professionals to book them. But if you do have more time, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection can also accommodate you with back-to-back sailings. That makes it a snap to customize a longer sailing.

Evrima began its sailing career in October 2022 with plans for a series of five European itineraries before it is set to reposition to the Caribbean, Costa Rica and the Bahamas for the winter.

The yacht's inaugural "warm weather" season offers five-, seven-, 10- and 12-night itineraries, including:

  • Bridgetown, Barbados round trips.
  • Bridgetown, Barbados to Philipsburg, St. Martin (and reverse).
  • Philipsburg to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
  • San Juan round trip.
  • San Juan to Bridgetown (and reverse).
  • Bridgetown to Panama City, Panama.
  • Panama City to San Jose (Puerto Caldera), Costa Rica.
  • San Jose round trip.
  • San Jose to Fort Lauderdale.
  • Fort Lauderdale round trip.

If you love transatlantic sailings, check out Evrima's 13-night April 14 itinerary that departs San Juan and arrives in Lisbon, Portugal with calls on Hamilton, Bermuda; Horta and Ponta Delgada in The Azores; plus nine sea days.

The ship then tours the Mediterranean through October 2023.

You'll love this line if…

OK. You got us here. The line just started sailing and we haven't been on board just yet so we can't tell you exactly what you'll love about this line. But we can make some educated guesses based on The Ritz's track record, the marketing material we've seen so far and early reviews from other sailors.

spa yacht

The Ritz-Carlton brand is all about exemplary service. We expect this drive to deliver an authentic, above-average experience to find its way onto the yachts. The Ritz offers luxury but it's never stuffy or stodgy. Instead, the line and yacht offer modern and elegant decor (nothing fussy), personalized service and Michelin-star quality dining.

One of the appealing things about The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is its all-inclusive fares — something it will have in common with many luxury cruise lines.

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection fares include:

  • ocean-view accommodations with a private balcony, which The Ritz calls a "terrace."
  • a dedicated Personal Concierge.
  • all dining at multiple restaurants as well as 24-hour in-suite room service.
  • beverages (all nonalcoholic, bottled water, coffee and tea plus select wines and liquors) throughout the yacht and in your suite.
  • onboard entertainment and enrichment.
  • a marina-style platform with access to nonmotorized watersports while at anchor.
  • onboard gratuities for housekeeping, dining and bar staff. (You will need to tip for salon and spa services.)

Cabins and suites

If you gravitate toward modern interior design with sleek surfaces, mixed textures and muted earth tones, you'll appreciate the suites aboard Evrima. (Each cabin type is referred to as a "suite" in The Ritz-Carlton yacht world even if it's not technically two or more rooms.)

The line tapped Tillberg Design of Sweden to envision its cabins. With a private yacht feel, akin to The Ritz-Carlton Residences in Florida's Sunny Isles Beach and Miami Beach, along with Los Angeles, the emphasis is on comfortable open-concept spaces and natural light.

Upon arrival at your suite, a chilled bottle of Moët et Chandon (Grande Marque Champagne, Brut Imperial, Non-Vintage, according to a publicist we spoke to) will greet you. Enjoy that out on your private balcony before getting to know the intricacies of your cabin. All suites offer a king-size bed with high-end Frette linens, digital flat-screen TV, a minibar stocked with your preferences (bottled water is Perrier) and an in-suite safe. Each suite has a Nespresso machine and a selection of complimentary specially roasted coffee and teas from Illy Cafè and Dammann Frères. If you want hypoallergenic pillows, those are available upon request.

The bathroom features a double vanity, luxury bath amenities, robes and slippers, a vanity mirror and a hair dryer.

You can order 24-hour room service. The All-Day Dining menu features influences from every dining venue on board and a Late-Night Dining menu will also be available.

Each suite is also assigned a personal concierge. According to Ritz-Carlton, this person "is your single onboard touchpoint to ensure a flawless, seamless journey from beginning to end."

Finally, the yacht also offers connecting and convertible suites for families and friends traveling together.

Let's take a look at what the suites look like:

Terrace Suites

Entry-level cabins are called Terrace Suites. Ninety cabins in this category are 300 square feet with a 67-square-foot balcony. Two Terrace Suites are ADA-compliant (adhering to standards set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act).

spa yacht

Signature Suites

spa yacht

The next cabin category covers more floor space at 429 square feet and accommodates a king bed plus a convertible sleeper sofa. The balcony is 101 square feet. There are 27 Signature Suites and one is ADA-compliant.

Grand Suites

spa yacht

Are you the type that tends to overpack for a voyage? Then a Grand Suite — there are 14 of them on the ship — may be right for you since it offers dual walk-in closets. It also offers a king bed plus a convertible sleeper sofa. The suite interior is 587 square feet and the terrace is 108 square feet.

spa yacht

2-Story Loft Suites

spa yacht

The yacht's 611-square-foot, bi-level Loft Suites are interesting because they separate the living space (upstairs) from your sleeping quarters (downstairs). The plus is that you can enter the suite from hallways on both levels. The bathroom situation is also upgraded, with a double vanity master bathroom that includes a soaking tub and a separate shower (on the lower level) and a powder room on the upper level. Adding a bit of privacy, the convertible sleeper sofa in this stateroom is on the upper level that's otherwise devoted to living/dining space. The terrace is also on the upper level, at 76 square feet, and downstairs features a panoramic picture window for sea views. The yacht features 12 Loft Suites.

spa yacht

View Suites

At first blush on the deck plan, the four View Suites may seem similar to the Grand Suites. But, there's an important difference: floor-to-ceiling windows throughout that offer incredible views of the ocean and port. Suites 732 and 733 are 544 square feet with an 86-square-foot balcony while suites 734 and 735 are larger, at 574 square feet with a 97-square-foot balcony. This cabin category features a king bed and a convertible sleeper sofa.

spa yacht

Owner's Suites

The ship's two Owner's Suites, at 1,091 square feet, are larger than most Manhattan apartments. There are two nice things about this accommodation: a second full bath and a 592-square-foot balcony. The terrace is outfitted with upgrades such as outdoor furniture (a full sofa, two chairs, a coffee table, two loungers and two cocktail tables) and a dining table for four. The piece de resistance, however, is the private hot tub.

Inside, you'll find plenty of room to spread out with a dining table for six, a sitting area with four chairs and a table and a second sitting area with a loveseat, coffee table and two chairs. Beds includes a king bed and a convertible sleeper sofa. One more extra amenity is a pair of high-end binoculars for guest use.

Restaurants and dining

Even though the yachts will only host up to 298 passengers at full capacity, there are several distinct dining venues — including S.E.A, designed by chef Sven Elverfeld of Aqua, the three-Michelin-starred restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg in Germany.

All venues feature fresh, local ingredients while serving cuisine influenced by the destinations the yacht visits.

The Evrima Room

While Ritz yachts won't have main dining rooms the way you're used to seeing them aboard mega-ships — huge cavernous venues that pack everyone in tight during meal service — The Evrima Room is the ship's main restaurant. Here, you can dine as a couple or join other travelers in an intimate and relaxed setting. The restaurant is on Deck 4, aft, and the menu will change with the seasons.

spa yacht

This is one of the most romantic spots on the ship. On Deck 8, aft, in front of the pool, this laidback venue was designed for a lunch under the sun or a romantic alfresco meal in the evening. The Mediterranean-style menu features the local catch, and you can order prime cuts of meat from the grill. You can enjoy drinks here, too, as you take in the beauty of the yacht.

spa yacht

Every ship needs a sushi bar, and you'll find one aboard Evrima on Deck 6 at Talaat Nam, which also offers a family-style table experience and outdoor dining with a view of the ship's wake. While we haven't yet seen the sushi menu, a passenger shared the dinner menu and it looks fantastic.

Starters include a Thai mango salad, chicken satay, Vietnamese-style spring rolls, hamachi, gyoza, beef tataki, red miso soup and edamame. Entrees are appealing and include beef rendang, chicken adobo, Thai prawn curry, Thai red curry, pancit noodles, ramen, chicken laksa and kimchee fried rice. Desserts include one of my favorite flavors: pandan. The leaves of this aromatic plant remind me of coconut and vanilla. That's presented in a custard delicacy. You can also order mango sticky rice or an almond sago avocado concoction with coconut ice cream.

The Pool House

spa yacht

When you want to enjoy a more relaxed meal, be it an early-risers breakfast, lunch or late-night nosh, The Pool House — on Deck 5 directly in front of the aft pool — will punch the ticket. Menu items are prepared a la minute in this open-air space.

Passengers on the first sailing reported a breakfast menu that ranged from challah French toast with berries and syrup to a garden frittata, lobster omelet with Hackleback caviar, breakfast tacos, bagels with lox, avocado toast and more. Coffee is by Illy and tea by Dammann Freres.

Lunchtime and afternoon "to share" items looked yummy, too: guacamole, fried calamari, blistered shishito peppers, sticky chicken wings, Peruvian ceviche, baked cauliflower and wild mushroom flatbread.

More substantial menu items included burgers, buttermilk fried chicken, lobster and shrimp rolls, beer-battered cod, steak sandwiches, roasted salmon BBQ baby back ribs and four interesting salads. Dessert is limited but includes ice cream, chocolate fudge brownies and creme brulee.

spa yacht

If you're a fan of chef Sven Elverfeld of Aqua, his three Michelin-starred restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg, head to S.E.A., on Deck 6 where he's created a "specialty dining experience." In cruise lingo, that usually means it carries an extra surcharge and that is the case here. (We're reaching out to The Ritz to find out the exact cost, but a passenger reported it cost $625 for her and her boyfriend to dine there.) In terms of food, it's a "European tasting menu;" more details to come. Reservations are required.

The Living Room

Coffee drinkers and snackers need to memorize the location of The Living Room on Deck 4. It's a place to socialize or just sink into its comfy chairs to read a book from the library. Throughout the day and night, you can order freshly roasted coffees and espresso and pick up pastries and other treats.

spa yacht

The Marina Terrace

spa yacht

Just above the Marina, you'll find this spot that serves drinks and "light bites."

spa yacht

You'll no doubt spend plenty of time at The Bar. Kick-start each night of your voyage with a special cocktail or Champagne toast and stop by for a nightcap after dinner. Looking for something decadent? This lounge serves premium Champagnes paired with caviar.

In-suite dining

There is an All-Day Dining menu that can be served in your suite or on your balcony 24/7.

Entertainment and activities

Life aboard any yacht is naturally a bit more laid-back than the vibe you'll find on mega-ships that offer dozens of bars, a comedy club, Broadway-style productions, karaoke, casino games and more.

Theaters and shows

While there is no theater on board the ship, there are opportunities to enjoy live music. Initial reports from passengers indicate that evenings are a bit on the quiet side so far.

The Observation Lounge

spa yacht

As twilight descends, passengers seek out The Observation Lounge on Deck 10. With incredible sea views, it's the place to get to know your fellow passengers over a drink at sunset followed by late-night dancing.

spa yacht

As mentioned above, The Living Room does double duty. It's a library and coffee house during the day, but it morphs into a piano bar and dance hall at night. Enjoy live music here in the evening hours. It's expected to be the go-to cocktail lounge on the ship.

Other interior attractions and activities

Despite the ship's intimate stature, it offers the amenities you'd expect of a luxury cruise ship. You'll find a spa, fitness center, cigar bar and boutique. Here are more details.

spa yacht

Forward on Deck 9, The Spa — open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily — is quite well equipped for such a small ship. Here you'll find all manner of salon and beauty services as well as treatments ranging from deep muscle to hot stone massage.

The complete spa oasis includes a Relaxation Lounge and outdoor relaxation areas, including a hot tub all the way forward on that deck. There also are separate "Heat Experience" facilities — aroma steam rooms and dry saunas — for male and female passengers. They're in the changing areas. The spa provides lockers, robes, slippers, shower caps, towels and all the other accouterments you'd expect.

Treatment prices are similar to what you'd find on land. In the beauty salon, a shampoo and style starts at $80 for short hair, $90 for medium and $100 for long. A haircut and style are a bit more expensive, starting at $100 for short hair, $125 for medium and $140 for long hair. Hair straightening or curling (with no wash) is a bargain at $55. If you want a manicure, the 45-minute "Supreme" will set you back $95. For men, a beard trim starts at $35 while a shave starts at $75.

spa yacht

But it's the spa treatments most people get excited about. Aboard the yacht, there are several massage options, such as the 60-or 90-minute signature "Evrima" massage (starting at $255), where light to moderate pressure is paired with aromatherapy essential oils. Also available are deep muscle massages (starting at $205) and piedras calientes therapy treatments, which use warmed stones (starting at $275). After a day in port, you might want the hour-long black masque Leg Renewal Treatment ($130) that alleviates tired legs by reducing inflammation and encouraging enhanced circulation.

An array of facials are also available, including the 90-minute Ultimate Radiance and Renewal Facial ($320) that uses ESPA skincare-brand products.

If you plan to book several treatments, your best bet may be buying one of these packages:

If you didn't prebook a treatment before boarding, your personal concierge can assist you on board; otherwise, call or visit The Spa. A receptionist will explain the options and make your arrangements.

If you use Technogym equipment at home, you'll recognize the gear in the yacht's fitness center on Deck 9 near The Spa. You'll find treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals, free weights and more.

In addition to the exercise equipment, you can also sign up for personal training sessions (30 minutes starting at $75), private yoga sessions (an hour starts at $100) and fitness consultations (starting at $275). The Gym is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Talk with The Spa to make reservations.

Guests can also take advantage of complimentary group exercise programs and presentations on such wellness topics as nutrition. Consult the onboard activity guide for more details.

Note that the gym can only be used by passengers who are 18 and older. Sixteen and 17-year-olds can use the facility when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian (or upon filling out an authorized consent form).

The Humidor

spa yacht

Most luxury ships have a cigar bar, and Evirma is no different. The Humidor on Deck 10 offers premium cognac paired with hand-rolled cigars.

The Boutique

spa yacht

While you won't find a veritable shopping mall aboard Evrima in the style of Royal Caribbean's Royal Promenade, you will find The Boutique on Deck 4. The line promises leading luxury labels and artwork from local craftspeople.

Deck-top attractions

On Evrima, the deck attractions focus on the great outdoors. The aft Marina will wow anyone that loves watching the waves and jumping into the water to enjoy snorkeling or paddleboarding. Here's what you can expect on the deck of the Ritz-Carlton yachts.

While not on the top deck, The Marina is a standout feature of the yacht. It's on Deck 3 with direct access to the water. Here, you can borrow gear — like paddleboards, windsurf boards, kayaks, sailboats and snorkel equipment — for complimentary watersports. As with similar watersports platforms on other ships, the Marina will only open when weather conditions are right and local authorities permit its usage.

spa yacht

Even if you don't plan to get in the water, The Marina is an ideal spot to spend a sunny day. Multiple seating areas afford incredible views.

This deck is especially atmospheric at night with accent lighting that creates a beautiful blue glow.

Evrima has three pools. The main pool is on Deck 5, aft, near The Pool House restaurant.

A smaller pool is on Deck 8 near Mistral and the Ritz Kidz club.

A small, round pool — with a shade canopy — is located on Deck 9, forward, at The Spa Terrace.

Observation Terrace

The Observation Terrace is all the way forward on Deck 10, in front of the Observation Lounge. This is your perch for a bird's-eye view from the ship. Comfy seating areas abound where you can grab a drink and chat with newfound friends.

Children's programs

Where other cruise lines such as Viking and Virgin Voyages have barred children from their ships, Ritz-Carlton has no such limitations on its yachts. Children as young as 6 months can sail with the line.

The line purposely carved out space aboard each vessel for a Ritz-Kids club on Deck 8 aft. Children ages 4-12 are welcome to attend the programs in the club, which range from educational to arts and crafts. The program will be beefed up during the summer and holidays. There will be a nominal fee for each session.

While guests have access to Ritz-Kids, babysitting services are not offered.

A limited number of cribs are available upon request.

What to know before you go

Here are some big-picture details you should know before you cruise with The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection.

Dress codes

The line says it focuses on the "casual freedom of a yachting vacation," so you don't need to worry about packing formal wear. There are no formal nights on Ritz yachts. Passengers on the first sailing report that some gentlemen are wearing sportcoats in the evening while others aren't. Women are donning flowing palazzo pants and pretty blouses as well as cocktail dresses and sundresses.

Even so, when packing for your Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection cruise, keep these two dress codes in mind:

Yacht Casual: At breakfast and lunch, shirts, shoes and bathing suit cover-ups are required unless you're at the pool. Then you can go barefoot and you don't need to cover up your swimsuit.

In the evening, put away the sleeveless T-shirts and bathing suits. Shirts and shoes are required throughout the yacht in the evening, even if you're sitting by the pool.

Yacht Sophisticated: If you plan to dine at chef Sven Elverfeld's specialty restaurant, collared shirts — though not required — are highly recommended.

Required documents

All passengers must bring aboard a passport that's valid at least six months after the voyage's disembarkation date. Visa requirements vary by destination, and it's up to you to determine what paperwork you need to sail. The line recommends that passengers coordinate visa requests with Pinnacle Travel Document Systems at 1-888-838-4867.

There is no need to tip the staff on The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection vessels. A service charge — except for spa treatments and salon appointments — is included in the cruise fare. Of course, feel free to tip any crew member that goes above and beyond during your voyage.

Related: Cruise ship gratuity, service charge and tipping guide

Wi-Fi is included in the cruise fare. Early reports indicate that it's stable and some have even taken Zoom calls from their suites.

Carry-on drinks policy

You can bring wine aboard the yacht. However, there will be a $20 corkage fee if you enjoy it in a dining room. You can't bring liquor aboard.

Smoking policy

There is only one place to go on the ship if you want to smoke (and that includes e-cigarettes): The Humidor on Deck 10. You can't smoke anywhere else — not even on an open deck. If the smell of smoke is detected in your suite, you will be tagged with a $1,000 cleaning fee.

Pressing, laundry and dry-cleaning services are available upon request through in-suite services for an additional cost. A self-service Guest Launderette is located on Deck 9, where an iron, washer, dryer and detergent will be available at no additional cost.

Electrical outlets

Suites have both 230v and 120v outlets plus USB charging capabilities.

The U.S. dollar is the official currency of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. When you board, you'll put down a credit card to which all of your onboard purchases will be charged.

Drinking age

According to the line's ticket contract, "Guests must be at least 18 years old to be served wine and beer, and at least 21 years old to be served alcoholic beverages other than wine and beer. When docked or anchored in U.S. ports, or within the U.S. territorial sea, guests must be at least 21 years old to be served any alcoholic beverage."

The loyalty program

You can earn and burn Marriott points on Evrima sailings.

The good news first: Marriott Bonvoy members earn 5 points per $1 spent on cruise fares as well as hotel packages at participating Marriott hotels booked through The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection.

You'll also earn one elite night credit for each night you sail. Note that the passenger paying for the cruise will earn the points and elite night credits.

Now for the not-so-hot news: Redemption rates aren't terrific. Redeem 180,000 points for $1,000 off your cruise fare. You can then spend increments of 90,000 points to get an additional $500 off.

TPG values Marriott points at $0.84 each. That means we'd prefer to use 180,000 points for redemptions that would cost $1,512 or more in cash. The offer to use points on a sailing is below our preferred threshold.

However, sometimes RCYC will offer a more lucrative special promotion; for example, book select sailings and earn 75,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points in addition to what you'll earn per dollar paid on the cruise fare. Check the "Offers" tab of the line's website to check for deals like that.

If you are a Marriott elite, here's what you can expect onboard.

What it costs

As you may imagine, you can't book a yacht experience on a shoestring budget, but there are some good values to be had during The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection's first sailing season. For a luxury experience of this caliber, expect to pay about $700 to $900 per person per night for Caribbean sailings and from about $1,100-plus per person per night for Mediterranean itineraries.

Maybe this will change in the future, but the line's cruise fares aren't solo traveler-friendly. All suites carry a 200% single supplement (i.e., you will pay double the per-person rate based on double occupancy when you travel in a cabin alone).

Staterooms can accommodate third and fourth guests at a rate of 50% of the first and second berth rate. Those additional guests must be under 14. Note that a limited number of roll-away beds are available upon request.

You'll pay 25% of the first and second berth for infants and toddlers 6 months to 2 years old when reserved as the third berth in a suite. A parent or guardian who's 21 or older must accompany any child. Note that on voyages with three or more consecutive days at sea, the minimum age for children is one year. Children under the age of 5 cannot board the Zodiacs.

How to book

At TPG, we recommend that travelers always use a travel agent that specializes in cruise travel to book their cruises. Using a knowledgeable travel agent won't cost you a penny, and it can provide many advantages. First and foremost, travel agents understand the nuances of each cruise line and ship and can recommend the best options for you, from which stateroom to select to the perfect itinerary. Travel agents also often get access to special reduced cruise fares or perks that can add a lot of value to your sailing. If something goes wrong, you've got an ally that can work directly with the cruise line on your behalf for a resolution.

If you don't use a travel agent, you can book directly through The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. Just give them a call or shoot them an email, and they will match you with an internal cruise adviser.

Or, you can book your voyage online. There are all sorts of online travel agents and discounters from which to choose.

You can even book a Ritz-Carlton yacht adventure through Delta's SkyMiles Cruises. For example, at press time, you can book a seven-night Central America voyage aboard Evrima for $5,400 per person. Bonuses include $1,000 in travel credits to get to/from the ship (that can be used on things such as an upgrade to first-class seats, a limo transfer and pier parking), and you can earn up to 10,000 SkyMiles.

No matter which method you use to book your voyage, maximize your credit card points when paying for the sailing by using a credit card that offers extra points for travel purchases . This could be the Chase Sapphire Reserve® , which offers 3 Chase Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent on travel and dining (excluding the annual $300 travel credit). There's also the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card , which brings 2 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar on travel and 3 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar on dining.

And, of course, you may want to use the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card , Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card or Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card .

Bottom line

Pairing The Ritz's long history in the luxury hospitality market with small-ship cruising is a big win for cruisers. The line's participation in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program further sets it apart from other lines that don't have a points partner in the hotel space. While the redemption rate isn't amazing, we still call it a win to be able to book a cruise with points.

Charter Yachts With An Onboard Spa

  • By Kim Kavin
  • Updated: August 19, 2016

spa yacht

My first experience with a true onboard spa was more than a decade ago, aboard the 325-foot Canadian Vickers Christina O . I remember touring the yacht and wandering into a room that a stewardess called a spa; it was actually a full-size beauty salon. The space went far beyond the occasional massage table that was found aboard charter yachts back then. It had nicer chairs for haircuts and coloring than some of the spas I’d seen in London and Manhattan. At the time, a spa of that nature was so unusual as a charter-yacht feature that it nearly seemed out of place.

As things turn out, the space was ahead of its time. Today’s superyachts come out of the shipyards with vast amounts of real estate devoted to spas, fitness areas, saunas, treatment rooms, aromatherapy, massage — a few even have juice bars where regular cocktail bars used to be.

325-foot Canadian Vickers Christina O, Camper & Nicholsons, Superyacht

And if client demand is an indicator, there is more to come. As Jason Macaree, the director of Reymond Langton Design, put it in the recent “State of Wealth, Luxury and Yachting” report from Wealth-X and Camper & Nicholsons International: “We think that the spa experience is accelerating, and I am sure this will make for some interesting space concepts in the next few years.”

The client desire to enjoy healthy indulgences while maintaining a regimen of well-being on vacation is also changing the way charter yachts are staffed. Captains now seek chefs who not only can produce gourmet seven-course tasting dinners, but also excel at everything from vegan to paleo to Atkins diet recipes. I once spent a few days aboard the 114-foot Sunreef Che off the coast of St. Barth, where French wines and cheeses flow freely. On board, though, the chef’s specialty was macrobiotic menus — think miso-soup cleansers for breakfast and bloody marys made with fresh-squeezed tomato juice. (There was an actual look of horror in the galley when I uttered the words “chicken parmesan.”)

Stewardesses and deckhands who can serve double duty as personal trainers and massage therapists are finding themselves in great demand aboard charter yachts too. On larger builds that carry more crew, dedicated positions for staff with serious spa experience are now as common as crew spots for bosuns with divemaster training.

Burgess Yachts, Grace E, Superyacht, Charter

“I am new to the yachting industry, but have been practicing my trade for approximately six years,” says Trista Spolarich, who represents the new breed of spa experts found aboard some charter yachts. She runs the program on the 163-foot converted naval vessel Plan B , which charters through Ocean Independence . “I am a chiropractor by trade, with additional experience and certifications in Thai yoga massage, sports and deep-tissue massage, acupressure and Rolfing techniques.

I decided to pursue these soft-tissue techniques in addition to my doctorate as a wellness tool. The more techniques I learn, the more knowledge I gain, and the more likely I can help clients achieve relief and optimal well-being more quickly.”

Spolarich is many levels above what most people think of as an onboard masseuse, and a growing number of charter yachts have spa menus that reflect the talents of crew like her. The 207-foot Royal Denship Force Blue , which charters through Fraser Yachts, offers a steam shower, hydro-massage Jacuzzi, sauna, mud bath, hair salon and massage room. Charter guests can book facials, waxing, mani-pedis — just about anything they might find on a spa menu back home.

Burgess Yachts, Grace E, aromatherapy, massages

Laura Shiels, who is the spa therapist aboard the 239-foot Picchiotti Grace E , with Burgess Yachts, helps guests relax and make use of the yacht’s sauna, cold-dip plunge pool, hydrotherapy bath, serenity room, massage tables and more.

“Besides having an entire deck dedicated to the spa and wellness program, we offer a wide variety of treatments in our spa,” Shiels says. “You have the option of having treatments customized to suit your needs. Relax and release tension with a Swedish, deep-tissue or Indian head massage, or unwind and indulge in a hot stone or aromatherapy massage. Reinvigorate with a sweet-and-savory full-body exfoliation, or treat your hands and feet to a manicure or pedicure. We also offer brow shaping and threading.”

Feadship Lady Britt, Superyacht, Edmiston

Shiels is also discovering that Grace E guests who might not be “spa types” are making use of some of the spa spaces, the ones designed for unwinding at pretty much any time of day.

“Our relaxation room is a wonderful feature,” she says. “Light fills this tranquil and open room with an uninterrupted panoramic view. Relax and unwind before or after your treatment, watch the day go by or settle down to watch the sunset. There is a certain air of elegance to this room, which allows the guests to escape while enjoying their time on board.”

A word with Lara-Jo Houghting

Lara-Jo Houghting is a charter manager at Churchill Yacht Partners. She’s also a licensed massage therapist, so she knows a thing or two about selecting a yacht with a top-notch spa program. Her fleet includes the 162-foot Christensen Remember When , which has a spa therapist as part of the crew.

How can clients tell if an onboard spa space is ideal? When you’re a licensed massage therapist on land, you have a studio, a controlled environment that keeps distractions, temperature, noise, even smells to a limit. On a yacht, you’re dealing with crew and guests running around, smells from the galley, temperature fluctuations, movement from the yacht. Look for a designated area on board for spa treatments, misters or air conditioning if outdoors, and privacy shades so you feel comfortable.

What kinds of clients seek out spa charters?  We’ve seen an increase in ladies-only charters, making for a great girls’ getaway. Whether it’s a divorce celebration or five lady couples or mom-daughter-granddaughter quality time, a yacht offering a spa program would be a terrific fit.

Can a charter yacht without a dedicated therapist still offer great spa services?  Yes. A third stewardess/massage therapist would need to toggle both jobs while guests are on board. The yacht would most likely have a limit to the number of hours of massage therapy that can be provided per day, but the quality of the treatments would still be the same.

Wellness & Spa Experiences

A luxury yacht charter is meant to relax and rejuvenate you. Wellness and Spa experiences are possible. It will do just that, from a massage to yoga sessions and onboard spas . Some larger yachts have gyms, saunas, pools, and hot tubs to enjoy leisurely. Notable yachts to consider include Force Blue, Kismet, and Cloudbreak. Below, you’ll find even more recommendations.

Greece Motor Yacht Zaliv III offers Spa treatments and a Wellness Experience.

Charter Insights

Nearly every charter can also supply your yacht with specific workout equipment and gear, pending onboarding logistics. Treadmills, bikes, rowing machines, and more can be a part of your daily routine during your stay . Yoga and Pilates instructors can be arranged ahead of time, or you can instead access virtual instruction via the onboard WiFi and other technology at your disposal. Just be sure to communicate your needs in advance.

Equally important, your private chef will prepare your meals to your dietary needs, preferences, and health requirements. You won’t have to worry about whether or not a restaurant will be able to accommodate your needs. Your whole group’s palette and wishes will be carefully considered and catered to. You only need to worry about having a good time!

“The crew of the Matina is amazing. They all provide a high level of service, yet they manage to be very personable and friendly to the guests. The food is excellent! Guest on Motor Yacht Matina

Charter destinations can also offer natural thermal baths and healing waters for enjoyment . Italy’s islands, including Ischia off the coast of Naples, are home to seaside baths and structured park environments with instructed visits, swimming pools, and more. In Sicily’s Aeolian islands, you can relax in the sulfur waters of Vulcano, an island rich in minerals and famous for its mud baths.

South Florida and the Keys are also home to many spas and wellness activities, easily accessed from a yacht charter from Miami. Further south, the Bahamas and St. Lucia both have numerous spa amenities and treatments to refresh you along your yacht journey. Turks and Caicos even have the Amanyara; a new hotel focused on wellness and detox. Whatever you may be looking for, we can help create a custom wellness and spa yacht charter experience for you.

Meet ‘Sherakhan,’ the 228-Foot Ice-Class Explorer Yacht With a Lavish Balinese Spa

This restored expedition yacht was named after the tiger king in "the jungle book." we take a look at its ten coolest features., julia zaltzman, julia zaltzman's most recent stories.

Superyacht Sherakhan

When it comes to classic yachts, the 228-foot Sherakhan puts a very different spin on things. It was built 50 years ago as an ice-breaking tug and used as a Dutch training ship before its current owner, businessman and sailor Jan Verkerk, acquired the vessel in 2006. Verkerk then oversaw its conversion into an expedition yacht. Sherakhan was the second yacht in his four-strong fleet that included sailing yacht Thandeka , classic schooner Borkumriff II , and Legend , one of the first ice breaking superyacht conversions, which he sold to Eric and Wendy Schmidt in 2020.

Verkerk’s vision for Sherakhan was to create a classic-looking expedition yacht capable of visiting remote and undiscovered regions. The global explorer has more than lived up to expectations with a logbook that includes Greenland, Antarctica and Patagonia. In 2020, Sherakhan sailed over 150,000 nautical miles—the equivalent of more than seven trips around the globe in one year.

A surprisingly elegant exterior is coupled with an arresting interior styled by Claudia Rijntjes, where 26 guests enjoy an array of amenities, including a cavernous double-height open atrium dining space and a Balinese-themed spa. On board comfort is further heightened by the service and skill set of the yacht’s 19 crew.

In 2022, Sherakhan underwent a complete interior renovation, which saw a dedicated gym added and updates to the engine room.

Here are 10 things you didn’t know about one of the best examples of a classic explorer on the charter market, available through Y.CO.

The ‘Jungle Book’ Link

spa yacht

Though spelled (and pronounced) slightly differently, the yacht is named after “Shere Khan,” the fictional Bengal tiger in Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book . Verkerk’s daughter was watching the Disney animation on a seemingly endless loop at the time of the yacht’s conversion, prompting him to call the vessel after the story’s jungle-smart villain. A piece of art of the namesake tiger hangs in the main salon. It’s an apt moniker for a yacht with a library that holds first edition works by famous authors.

Front-Row Seats

spa yacht

The sun lounges beside the pilothouse are reserved for the ultimate sea views. Guests lucky enough to cruise Antarctica or South Georgia will never miss a whale breaching or penguin sighting, thanks to the prominent seating. The seats also guarantee elevated 180-degree views.

A Head for Heights

spa yacht

Few yachts can comfortably seat 26 guests for a formal dinner. Even fewer house it in a 23-foot-high double atrium bathed in light from the glass-bottom Jacuzzi above. The 66-foot-long space is crowned by a silver chandelier and flanked by two sets of staircases that lead to a second salon with a dancefloor, bar and bespoke seating. Evening meals can be accompanied by live music, with a digital piano, acoustic guitar, drums and tambourines all within arm’s reach.

Flexi-Decks

spa yacht

Sherakhan accommodates 26 guests in 13 flexible cabin arrangements set across three decks. The design is made up of seven double cabins, two convertible cabins and four twin cabins. Interconnecting cabins form extended luxurious suites or family rooms.

Far From the Madding crowd

spa yacht

When 25 guests, plus crew, feel like a crowd, the owner’s upper-deck, master suite offers relief, with a private terrace, en suite, and central Jacuzzi. A low-level bed is twinned with a coffee table and chairs, a lounging area, and circular artwork on the ceiling depicting autumn leaves and a blue sky. A second double cabin on the same level also functions as a an office.

Spinner’s Paradise

spa yacht

There is no shortage of onboard entertainment with outdoor barbecues by day—prepared by the yacht’s 30-year veteran head chef—and evening gatherings that go on long into the night, powered by a Pioneer professional DJ deck, disco lights, a subwoofer, and four large speakers to ensure the beats ripple out across the water.

Giant Jacuzzi

spa yacht

Guests needn’t wait their turn for a soak in the giant glass-bottomed Jacuzzi, which can accommodate up to 18 guests. And those wishing to avoid the communal splash can lie on a nearby lounge, swing in a hammock, or take a seat at the bar.

Bali at Sea

spa yacht

Sherakhan ’s lower-deck spa inspires Balinese meditation wherever guests happen to be cruising in the world. Added during the 2022 refit, it includes a sauna, second Jacuzzi, and massage area, with an onboard masseuse and yoga instructor at the guests’ disposal.

Fitness Fanatics

spa yacht

The purpose-built gym was another addition to the 2022 refit. It’s designed to help guests stay on top of fitness goals while at sea. The space includes a treadmill, bicycle, elliptical machine, and free weights.

spa yacht

Sherakhan ‘s owner likes to equip his yacht with a variety of water toys suitable for all ages. The toy chest includes an inflatable slide that descends from the sun deck, a water trampoline, kneeboards, eFoils, and three waverunners stored on deck. There are also two tenders that help guests to explore wherever Sherakhan happens to be cruising, from remote Caribbean cays to Patagonian fjords.

Over the years, the Azimut|Benetti Group has obtained the certifications in the Health sector and Safety in the workplace, first compliant with the international standard BS OHSAS 18001 and, with the migration in December 2020, to the new ISO 45001-2018 standard; this certification constitutes an absolute record in the yachting sector for multi-site Groups.

Azimut|Benetti is also in possession of the quality certification, compliant with the ISO 9001 -2015 standard for all the offices of the Business Line Yachts, R&D Varazze and, from December 2021, the Lusben area of Viareggio.

Subscriber only, real estate | what’s being built there 2 ritz-carlton buildings offer luxury seekers a beach restaurant, spa, yacht club.

The Ritz-Carlton Residences will be two towers, on both sides of State Road A1A in Pompano Beach with 205 move-in ready homes. The Beach Tower on the east will be 31 stories with 117 beachside units. The Marina Tower, which is 14 stories high, has 88 residences. Most homes are already sold. It will open in 2026. (DBOX/Courtesy)

The location? 1380 S. Ocean Blvd. in Pompano Beach, about a mile south of East Atlantic Boulevard.

What’s planned?  The Ritz-Carlton Residences will be two buildings, on both sides of State Road A1A with 205 move-in ready homes.

The Beach Tower on the east will be 31 stories with 117 beachside units and one floor of underground parking. The Marina Tower, which is 14 stories high, has 88 residences. This won’t be a hotel, and no AirBnB is permitted.

West side of A1A Ritz Carlton construction underway in Pompano Beach on Monday, May 6, 2024. (Carline Jean/South Florida Sun Sentinel)

“Pompano Beach is ‘Puttin’ On The Ritz,’ ” said Mayor Rex Hardin, a reference to the 1920s Irving Berlin song. “I’ll tell you, it’s a great time for the city of Pompano Beach. To get this kind of recognition that Pompano Beach is a destination, the recognition that the city, the staff cooperate so well with the development community to attract this type of investment, it’s fantastic.

“It’s a validation of what we’ve been working on for many years.”

What will the homes cost to purchase and what are the amenities?  Homes range in price from $1.256 million to $7.133 million. Marina-side units are already sold during pre-construction. The beachside building has just nine units left, said Harvey Daniels, the vice president of development sales.

Homeowners will be in the lap of luxury with access to both a private Beach Club with a beach restaurant — with the Ritz menu that is typically seasonal — and towel service and wait service to be served a drink or lunch (or both) on the beach.

“It’s only open to residents and guests,” Daniels said.

There is also a private Yacht Club, with 13 slips, which are all already sold. There will be a bar area for a cocktail at sunset on the marina, and a pickup and dropoff dock “if someone has friends with boats you can get picked up and dropped off,” Daniels said.

There also will be a spa, two pools facing the ocean, a gym, business center, dog park, bocci court, paddleball or pickleball court, 24-hour valet, and a doorman.

“This is a hot commodity,” said Ron Choron, the vice president of construction for Fortune Development & Construction, one of the project developers. “Ritz is the best. It’s where I try to stay when I go out of town. The service is always the same.”

The interior design for the residences is crafted by Piero Lissoni, an Italian designer.

The homes will range from one to four bedrooms, which are the penthouses. Homeowners have a choice of flooring, doors, baseboards, cabinets and vanities.

What’s being replaced? The property on the east side of State Road A1A was previously a 3-story, 96-room motel called Paradise Beach Resort that sustained hurricane damage and was eventually demolished in 2009. The west side parcel was tennis courts, which were demolished about a decade ago, according to Sandra King, city spokeswoman.

Other than in Pompano Beach, where is the nearest Ritz to purchase? The Ritz-Carlton Residences Sunny Isles Beach is an oceanfront 52-story, 212-unit, luxury building located at 15701 Collins Ave. in Miami-Dade County that opened in 2020. It boasts a private elevator lobby for each residence and kitchens designed with Italian cabinetry and stone countertops.

There are two-, three- and four-bedroom ocean-view residences for sale as resales in the building. No new units are left.

Kelly Charles, a Realtor with “The Luxury Team” at Compass, who has sold in both Sunny Isles Beach and Pompano Beach, said many of her buyers are from the northeast who are “planning for future retirement or second homes.” Those well-to-do clients are getting “all the amenities they could possible want” that come with “Ritz-trained staff.”

“There’s nothing else to compare to in Pompano,” Charles said. “People feel comfortable with the brand they already know.”

How long will Pompano Beach construction take? The residences are scheduled to open in September 2026. Both the east and west buildings are expected to open at the same time.

What is the project anticipated cost? Construction costs are $350 million, Choron said.

Integrity and the relentless pursuit of the deal defines Moran Yacht & Ship - I am grateful that you were on this journey with me. This magical machine KISMET is the second yacht I’ve had built with Moran Yacht & Ship. KISMET has brought joy, hope, and the gift of discovery to many lives - including my own. You have made this world a better place! Owner, KISMET
By way of background, my business interests include controlling stakes in 3 publicly traded companies which operate vessels in the 500 to 5000dwt range. On average, one new vessel a year would be added to the fleet. As a result, I have access to in-house marine architects, engineers and construction supervisors. Consequently, when I decided to build my first large motor yacht, I did not feel I needed the services of a company like Moran Yacht & Ship. In any event, I was persuaded to let them negotiate on my behalf while I simultaneously held discussions with other building options. Moran Yacht & Ship understands yachts, their incredibly complex systems, and what constitutes a practical solution to various owners’ ideas. In short, I would not consider building another yacht without engaging Moran Yacht & Ship to provide the services they are so good in delivering. Former Owner, NORTHERN STAR

‘msc euribia’: see inside northern europe’s newest cruise ship.

Built in 2023, the MSC Euribia cruise ship spends much of the year in Northern Europe.

The newest cruise ship in the MSC Cruises fleet sails Northern Europe itineraries for much of the year. There’s lots to see and do between port calls, so Euribia is a great choice for families, young couples, or groups of friends who don't mind a lively, pan-European onboard atmosphere.

Unlike the line’s other recently-launched ship, MSC World Europa , which was the first in a new class of vessel, the design of Euribia is based on the tried-and-tested ‘Meraviglia Plus’ class.

So, if you’ve sailed on Grandiosa or Virtuosa , the focus on indoor spaces such as the iconic two-deck interior promenade will feel instantly familiar.

The cruise ship, designed to accommodate almost 5,000 passengers at double occupancy, can reach full capacity at 6,327 guests, but this typically happens only during vacation periods when many more children are on board.

'Galleria Euribia' is the venue for many of MSC Euribia's restaurants, shops, bars and parties.

Euribia can feel crowded at popular times, such as pre- and post-dinner on sea days. That’s especially true when adverse weather drives everyone indoors—common in Northern Europe throughout the year.

Netflix: Marvel Dud Among Movies New On Streaming Service This Week

Houston rockets land third pack in upcoming nba draft, northern lights might be visible again tonight here s the updated aurora forecast.

However, it’s worth taking the time to fully explore the ship on embarkation day , as there are quieter spots to be found. The Carousel Lounge is open throughout the day, and there is a lot of seating around the atrium.

Entertainment For All On Euribia

MSC Cruises is known as a lively cruise line , and Euribia certainly lives up to that reputation, with multilingual, family-friendly activities throughout the day and late-night parties for adults.

The three-level atrium on MSC Euribia features the signature Swarovski staircases.

The ship’s central feature is the three-deck central atrium and ‘Galleria Euribia’, a visually stunning two-deck interior promenade with a curved LED roof, home to specialty dining, shops, bars, and lounges. It’s a venue for both organized and spontaneous parties, including the captain’s welcome. At one end is the atrium, home to the famous Swarovski staircases .

The ship boasts a spacious rooftop pool deck and a tiered aft sundeck. Key attractions like waterslides, a ropes course, and top-deck waterpark are all popular spots when the weather is favorable. Should that not be the case, there is sheltered seating on the main pool deck.

MSC Euribia features a main pool deck with a large screen. An adjacent indoor pool with retractable ... [+] roof gives flexibility.

Inside, the fun keeps going with a covered swimming pool, more hot tubs, a sports court and a vast arcade. Kids clubs are available for various age groups, giving parents a few hours of peace especially on sea days.

Evening entertainment includes three seatings for the main show in the Delphi Theater, which is bookable using the ‘MSC for Me’ app. Although there is no theater bar, the ship’s 21 bars and lounges mean you’re never far from a drink, although be prepared to wait a while at busy times.

Secondary performance space the Carousel Lounge hosts big band concerts in a more informal atmosphere. The flexible space functions as an additional observation lounge during the day, with snacks and full bar service available.

MSC Euribia's Carousel Lounge is an observation lounge by day and a secondary performance space by ... [+] night.

As with all cruise ships, the casino is only open when at sea, and as a welcome plus is entirely non-smoking. Smokers are nevertheless well catered for with several outdoor smoking areas around the ship.

Accommodation Options

The 2,419 cabins on Euribia offer a wide range of choice for guests, although the brown and beige color scheme won’t be to everyone’s taste.

The 755 interior cabins offer the best value, while duplex suites with balcony hot tubs are available for those seeking the most luxurious experience.

Balcony views can be worth the extra money on Norwegian fjords itineraries.

The high number of guests typically sailing on Euribia is one of two very good reasons to splurge on one of more than 1,000 balcony cabins. The other? Northern Europe itself, especially Norwegian fjords cruises .

Such cruises are partly about the ports, but just as much about the sailaway. Having a private space from which to enjoy the scenery is worthwhile. That being said, inside cabins on Euribia are spacious compared with industry standards, and offer the best value.

Inside cabins are an economical yet comfortable way of staying on MSC Euribia.

There is plenty of outdoor space on higher decks to enjoy the scenery, although you will struggle to find a window seat in popular lounges.

Varied Dining Venues

As a line firmly in the mass-market segment of the industry, MSC is not renowned for its food offering. Yet, steady improvement has been made in recent years.

Kaito sushi bar is a speciality restaurant on MSC Euribia.

The inclusive offerings are more than satisfactory, especially the seafood, and the ship’s breads and pasta, all made on board. Also produced on board is fresh mozzarella. More than 650 pounds of it is made—and eaten—every day.

Euribia’s buffet restaurant can be hit-and-miss and does get crowded at popular times, but at least one main dining room is also open for breakfast/brunch/lunch, depending on the day.

White corn tacos are among the menu items at MSC Euribia's Mexican-themed cantina.

Adding to the choice is a number of speciality restaurants, including French-themed Le Grill, Japanese grill, sushi bar, and a Mexican cantina. The latter, with authentic white corn tacos and a $20 all-you-can-eat option, is outstanding value.

Spa And Fitness

With the availability of delicious pizza almost 24/7, it’s wise to get familiar with the fitness offer on Euribia. A well-equipped fitness center with views is open from 6am, and the combined walking and jogging track on deck 16 is popular on sea days.

Part of the thermal suite on MSC Euribia.

The Aurea Spa features a thermal area, for which day passes or cruise-long passes are available. A variety of massages and treatments are available in private treatment rooms, while a nail and beauty salon, and a barber shop rounds out the offer.

Aside from the spa, a total of five swimming pools and several hot tubs are available throughout the ship.

The Yacht Club Experience

If the Vegas-style amenities and atmosphere appeal but you want some peace and quiet too, Euribia offers the MSC Yacht Club experience.

The Top Sail Lounge is an observation lounge and bar exclusively for Yacht Club guests on MSC ... [+] Euribia.

MSC’s take on the ‘ship-within-a-ship’ concept is an access-controlled area of the ship for 100 cabins with an exclusive restaurant, bar and lounge, and an outdoor deck with pool, bar and daytime buffet.

Situated at the front of the ship, both the outside deck and observation lounge offer some of the best views anywhere on Euribia .

Unlike other line’s premium offerings, Euribia’s Yacht Club features a range of accommodation, including interior cabins, giving guests a more budget-friendly way to accessing a premium experience.

The private terrace in MSC Euribia's Yacht Club features bar service, a daytime buffet, and a ... [+] private pool.

Guests staying in the Yacht Club pay substantially more, but have access to butler service, and a premium drinks package, among other perks.

A ‘Greener’ Ship

While cruising is anything but a sustainable activity, Euribia is powered by liquified natural gas (LNG), something which not all new cruise ships are.

Although still criticized by environmental campaigners, LNG is considered the ‘greenest’ fuel that’s available today at the scale required for cruise ships. LNG significantly reduces sulphur oxide (SOx) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions compared with traditional maritime fuels.

MSC also claims an advanced onboard wastewater treatment system, energy efficiency through smart HVAC systems, and the ongoing ocean conservation work of the MSC Foundation .

Euribia isn’t for everyone, but what cruise ship is? If you enjoy a lively atmosphere, a packed program of activities, and a healthy dose of Vegas-style sparkle and glamor, Euribia could be for you.
