Welcome aboard! The Jubilee II is a classic riverboat, offering huge windows on the second level with a fun stocked and staffed bar. Entertain guests and dance down the river on the 2nd deck. Top deck is a perfect place to do a champagne toast at twilight!

This romantic double paddlewheel river boat, the Showboat, is the most popular wedding boat of the fleet! The charm of the wood interiors, twinkling sconces and intimate inside/outside levels make the Showboat a memorable choice. The two enclosed decks are climate controlled. Couples have the option for their wedding and reception to be outside on third deck, or inside on 1st deck.

Couples have chosen the Empress, an authentic paddlewheel, for their wedding due to the Victorian decor and a horseshoe shaped stained glass bar, and tin ceilings. Couples have the option to have their wedding and reception outside on the 3rd level viewing deck, or on the 1st enclosed level.

For a large weddings, consider partying the night away on the largest paddlewheel boat in the Midwest, the Avalon! Guests will love both inside and outside decks with seating for up to 500 guests on 3 levels. There are two bars, and two buffet areas for guests to enjoy cocktails and great food by our in-house kitchen, Grand Catering Stillwater. This week, 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS is remembering the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on America as the 20th anniversary approaches.

A boat that played a big part in helping rescue workers in New York now calls Stillwater home.

The Majestic Star, owned by Stillwater River Boats, was parked in New York Harbor when the Twin Towers were attacked on 9/11.

For the next week, the boat stayed in the harbor and was used by first responders as they worked at Ground Zero.

"Needed someplace to go to rest, to eat to sleep to get any medical if they needed it but then they would go right back out there they needed some place close by to do all that," Brian Anderson with Stillwater River Boats said.

The Majestic Star is now used for private cruises and weddings.

EVENT DETAILS:

Soak up all that summer has to offer on the 2nd Annual – Floating Fiesta: A St. Croix River Dinner, Drinks and Dancing Cruise! We’ve partnered up with Stillwater River Boats, Lift Bridge Brewing Company, and Dance and Entertainment Studies of Stillwater to help bring this vibrant, summer celebration to life. During this outing, you’ll be treated to a 3-hour dinner cruise featuring specialty drinks, live entertainment, dinner, dancing, and more!

Our event will begin in the “Birthplace of Minnesota”, where your Local Gurus will be awaiting your arrival on the Stillwater River Boats docks. After check-in, you’ll be welcomed aboard our private vessel for the evening, the Majestic Star, a 4 level super yacht which features a comfortable lounge, a dining level, a dance and entertainment deck and a top sun deck. As you board you’ll be serenaded by Mariachi América a local mariachi group, who’ll help set the tone for our Floating Fiesta!

Once you find your sea legs, you’ll be invited to order up a craft beer, house margarita, house wine, or a rail drink to help you combat those dog days of summer and enjoy yourself. Just for this event, we’ve partnered up with local legend Lift Bridge Brewing Company , who’s arranged to have a collection of their flavorful beers onboard just for us! If beer isn’t your thing – no worries! The yacht’s bar is fully stocked with margaritas, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic options for you to enjoy. As a perfect pairing to our beverages, we’ll enjoy a flavorful empanada as our appetizer as we set sail onto the scenic St. Croix River.

Our partners from Stillwater’s own Dance and Entertainment Studios will be doing a “mini” dance lesson before we set off for our night’s voyage to help encourage you to get out on the open aired dance floor. They will also be available throughout the evening to answer questions and provide one-off instructions to ensure everyone that wants to learn some steps can do so.

As we make our way down river, the Tropical Zone Orchestra will heat things up with their wildly entertaining music, sure to get you on the dance floor (or at very least tap your feet) . This award winning Latin fusion band is based out of the Twin Cities and for over a decade has brought together musicians from Puerto Rico and Minnesota to create some of the best Salsa and Merengue fusion music in Minnesota! After their first musical set, we will welcome back our onboard Mariachi band to keep the party rolling with a lively intermission show.

As our live entertainment struts their stuff on the 3rd floor, we will open up the dinner buffet in the air conditioned 2nd floor. In true Fiesta style, dinner will feature both beef and chorizo/ chicken tacos, fresh guacamole, queso, chips, rice, and beans. You’ll be invited to enjoy your dinner anywhere you feel comfortable, as you take in the beautiful scenery of the St. Croix River and enjoy the festive music from our on-board entertainment.

The rest of the night is yours to enjoy as you see fit – dance the night away and show off your fancy new footwork, play some games and have a chance to win some Lift Bridge Brewing prizes down in the lounge, order up another round of cervezas and tap your foot from the sidelines, or take in the sunset from the open aired rooftop. No matter how you choose to spend this evening, we’re sure you’ll head home with memories as vibrant as the music, food, and drinks we enjoyed on this one-of-a-kind Floating Fiesta.

Big yacht can stay docked next to restaurant, Stillwater City Council decides

The Stillwater City Council voted 4-0 on Tuesday night to approve the annual dock permit issued to St. Croix Boat & Packet Co., the company that owns the Majestic Star.

The owners of the Dock Cafe said after the meeting that they were “extremely disappointed” in the council’s decision. The docking of the Majestic Star has disrupted his restaurant’s view of the St. Croix River, Mike McGuire said.

The new luxury yacht — which came from Manhattan — is like a four-story hotel next door, he said. He said he would like to see the yacht moved down river — farther from his restaurant.

Mayor Ken Harycki said the city has no jurisdiction over what happens on the water. “My personal feeling is that this is a dispute between two businesses, and some are attempting to bring the city council in to mediate the dispute,” he said. “I can’t tell somebody how to run their business. Our authority to regulate ends at the riverbank.”

Added council member Mike Polehna: “If we could move that boat today, I’d say move it, but there’s nothing … that says we can make someone move the boat.”

Dickie Anderson, owner of St. Croix Boat & Packet Co., owns the docks and the land they abut, Harycki said. The company runs St. Croix River public excursions and private charters on five historic paddlewheel boats.

But McGuire said the city can make Anderson move the Majestic Star since it is docked in front of city-owned property. “It’s essentially in front of city land,” he said. “We are simply asking the city that controls the land along the waterfront to get Mr. Anderson to move it one notch down.”

Moving or reconfiguring the dock might be a possibility, but Minnesota Department of Natural Resources officials would need to sign off on that plan, said Community Development Director Bill Turnblad.

Anderson did not attend the meeting, but several council members said they had talked to him before the meeting. Anderson told them moving the dock would cost $250,000. “He said he was not opposed to moving the dock, but he was not going to pay for it,” council member Jim Roush said.

Harycki, the owner of Customized Payroll Solutions, disclosed prior to the vote that his company does the payroll for St. Croix Boat & Packet Co.

Harycki said he had asked City Attorney Dave Magnuson to research whether he had a potential conflict of interest on voting on the matter; Magnuson said there was not one that would disqualify him. Anderson’s business makes up one-quarter of 1 percent of Customized Payroll Solutions’ revenues, Harycki said. “Out of $100 of revenue, that would be 25 cents,” he said. “We are citizen legislators. None of us could live on the small wages that we are paid to be up here on Tuesday nights.”

Jeanne Anderson, an attorney for the owners of the Dock Cafe, asked council members to hold off on voting on the issue because council member Micky Cook was absent. Harycki had tabled the dock permit vote Feb. 1 because council member Rob Gag was absent, she said. “It’s just completely wrong that he wouldn’t do that again tonight,” she said after the meeting.

But city officials said the matter had already been before them six times. “We’re on the sixth trip,” Harycki said. “My feeling is that we’ve looked at this enough.”
