While I have limited sailing experience (ASA 101), and a couple of day trips I would like to purchase my first boat. I live in a land locked state, however, we have a couple of very large lakes.

The American 24 is equipped with a fin keel. A boat with a fin keel is more manoeuvrable but has less directional stability than a similar boat with a long keel. Mariner 40hp. Mariner outboards in my opinion are pretty decent outboards for your money. I have a 1994 Mariner 50hp thats in pretty decent condition that works for me great. I have it on a 16ft Sportcraft bowrider and she runs 40 mph on calm water which is pretty quick with 4 people and 3 of which are close to 200 pounds. M.
