Abeking & Rasmussen, the renowned shipbuilder with a history spanning over 115 years, proudly announces the launch of their latest masterpiece – the majestic superyacht LIVA, measuring an impressive 118.20 meters in length. This iconic yacht boasts a sleek black hull that stands as a symbol of sophistication and elegance on the water.

The design of the exterior and interior was entrusted to the incredibly passionate experts at Joseph Dirand Architecture in Paris – with their precise imagination they created a true icon. It was a huge challenge for the shipyard to implement all technical necessities to be as invisible as possible in order to strictly follow the challenging aesthetic design intent.

“I wanted this boat to be timeless, elegant, pure, thine, classic, contemporary with a large amount of outdoor space to be immersive with the surround landscape. This is exactly what I see when I look at it today – the black hull is really spectacular and looks completely monolithic”, Joseph Dirand commented when he saw MY LIVA emerging from the shed for the first time. “I have been obsessed by this project during all those years and it is the opportunity of my life to design a boat like this. I am happy today that everyone is realizing why all those details were so important to get to this result. It is my turn to thank the shipyard for being such a great partner in the realization of this dream.”

The yacht employs a sophisticated diesel-electric propulsion system designed for exceptionally quiet operation during navigation and maneuvering. This innovative approach incorporates two 2200 kW electric propulsion motors, expertly manufactured by RAMME Electric Machines GmbH and supplied by SER Schiffselektronik Rostock GmbH. To ensure a steady supply of electrical power, the vessel is equipped with two 2240 kW Caterpillar main generators and three 599 kW Caterpillar auxiliary generators, supplied by Zeppelin Power Systems.

To further enhance its propulsion capabilities and onboard comfort, the yacht features an array of advanced components. Four VOITH thrusters lend their power to the yacht’s maneuverability. Four stabilizer fins from SKF play a pivotal role in comfortable experience for passengers and crew alike. This comprehensive blend of cutting-edge technology culminates in a propulsion and comfort system that ensures efficiency, silence, and seamless operation.

The project presented its fair share of challenges, and the most notable was the construction of a tender garage on the Lower Deck fitting a 16-meter day tender. The second tender garage on Main Deck forward accommodates not only three splendid boats, but also a Triton Submersible for up to seven guests and a variety of water toys, bicycles and dive equipment enhancing the yacht’s recreational offerings.

The exterior design, thoughtfully crafted to maintain the vessel’s elegant black silhouette, boasts a unique approach. Instead of traditional anchor pockets, the yacht incorporates underwater anchors on the keel. This ingenious design not only adds to the vessel’s allure but also enhances its efficiency and maneuverability.

Further standout features include a Neptune Lounge offering an unparalleled underwater view through a massive 3.40m x 1.30m underwater window. Guests can marvel at the breathtaking world below sea level while enjoying the luxurious comfort of the lounge. Another dedicated haven for relaxation on main deck is the mobile 12 x 4 meter pool, its floor capable of being elevated to the upper level and adorned with liquid marble, creating an illusion reminiscent of the sea’s surface when raised, while the pool walls and surroundings are also luxuriously enveloped in marble.

The crow’s nest, positioned at the foot of the mast, promises an exceptional observation experience, giving the Owner and his family a privileged vantage point to soak in the surrounding beauty. Also, an exquisitely arranged large marble-clad fireplace complemented by a generous round sofa on the forward sundeck offers a warm and inviting ambiance for relaxation and social gatherings. Furthermore, the yacht features a fully certified helicopter pad on the sky deck, catering to the Owner’s discerning taste and providing easy access to remote locations.

The proud Owner entrusted the expertise of Cornelsen & Partner to carefully project manage the construction process from the outset and throughout. Their collaboration ensured the seamless execution of the Owner’s vision throughout the build of MY LIVA.

“I wanted this boat to be timeless, elegant, pure, thine, classic, contemporary with a large amount of outdoor space to be immersive with the surrounding landscape,” designer Joseph Dirand said in a statement. “This is exactly what I see when I look at it today—the black hull is really spectacular and looks completely monolithic.”

With a lengthy beam of 55 feet, Livao offers a generous interior with cabins for 12 guests and 33 crew. It’s chock full of amenities, too. The Neptune Lounge, for instance, features a massive underwater window that provides breathtaking views of the world below sea level. The crow’s nest at the foot of the mast offers more vistas still. In addition, the main deck sports a 40-foot marble-clad pool that can be elevated to the upper deck when not in use. Other highlights include a helipad on the sky deck and a luxe alfresco lounge on the sundeck.

To top it off, Livao can accommodate a full arsenal of vessels: The lower deck garage can hold a 52-foot day boat, while the larger main deck garage offers room for three tenders, a seven-person Triton sub, and other water toys.

Abeking & Rasmussen Delivers Flagship Superyacht: 118m LIVA

Shipyard giant Abeking & Rasmussen has once again proven its renowned 115-year shipbuilding heritage with the launch of its latest mammoth superyacht: the 118.2m motor yacht LIVA. Previously known as Project Celerius throughout her construction, LIVA now becomes the largest superyacht to ever be built at the German yard: iconic in both nature and stature.

It is undoubtedly LIVA’s sleek, elongated and minimalist jet-black hull that makes her incomparable against the industry’s fleet. Utterly elegant and highly sophisticated, Abeking & Rasmussen have created not only a completely unique and eye-catching Top 100, in terms of length, vessel, but also one that is highly ingenious and innovative: resulting in something utterly incredible. 

Parisian design studio, Joseph Dirand Architecture is the mastermind behind this magnificent exterior design, with the founder’s lifelong intentions to create a truly stand-out superyacht. The yard even revealed that LIVA’s aesthetic design was indeed challenging to pull off; with multiple technical necessities unusually required to be invisible, in order to create her final simplistic silhouette. A feature that not only adds to the 118m’s allure but also adds to her overall efficiency and manoeuvrability, is the incorporation of underwater anchors on the keel instead of the more common anchor pockets.

Joseph Dirand, Founder of the design studio shared: ‘I wanted this boat to be timeless, elegant, pure, thin, classic, contemporary with a large amount of outdoor space to be immersive with the surrounding landscape. This is exactly what I see when I look at it today - the black hull is really spectacular and looks completely monolithic.’

Notable highlights of LIVA include: a Neptune Lounge fitted with a huge 3.4m by 1.3m underwater window allowing guests to relax whilst marvelling at the world below sea level; a 12m by 4m marble pool on the main deck which features a liquid marble floor that can be elevated to the upper level; and a crow’s nest at the foot of the mast which provides yet another observation experience, this time from high above the waves. A fully certified helicopter pad on the sky deck provides easy access for her Owner and guests.

Despite her somewhat minimalist finish, LIVA reportedly features a number of relaxing and social areas onboard, one of which is situated on the forward sundeck, finished with a generous round sofa and a large marble-clad fireplace for a warm and inviting ambience. Joseph Dirand Architecture is also to thank for the interiors of LIVA, which currently remain highly secretive. 

Dirand continued: ‘I have been obsessed by this project during all those years and it is the opportunity of my life to design a boat like this. I am happy today that everyone is realising why all those details were so important to get to this result. It is my turn to thank the shipyard for being such a great partner in the realisation of this dream.’

Aside from her remarkable black profile, LIVA has been fitted with a ‘sophisticated diesel-electric propulsion system’, which has been specifically designed for exceptionally quiet levels of noise during operation. To ensure an additional steady electrical supply, she is equipped with two 2240 kW Caterpillar main generators and three 599 kW Caterpillar auxiliary generators, and four thrusters and four stabiliser fins have been fitted to increase propulsion capabilities and comfort onboard. 

Not only a challenging build in terms of her strict design boundaries, LIVA’s lower deck tender garage has also been highlighted as a difficulty for the yard, impressively capable of fitting a 16m day tender. A second tender garage is located on the main deck to accommodate three boats, a Triton submersible for seven guests and a variety of water toys. Cornelsen & Partners were chosen by the Owner for the project management of LIVA.

Much anticipated mega yacht LIVA has been delivered to her owners and christened with her new name. She is the flagship 118.0m (387’2″) yacht from Abeking & Rasmussen , is their largest build yet, and was previously known as Project Celerius.

The interior and exterior design of this unique yacht was created by French architect Joseph Dirand and he commented that he wanted to bring “a large amount of outdoor space to be immersive with the surrounding landscape” and continued, “this is exactly what I see when I look at it today – the black hull is really spectacular and looks completely monolithic.”

Her new owners can look forward to some exciting features including a Neptune lounge with semi-submerged window, a 12m aft swimming pool with raiseable floor, helipad and exciting collection of water toys, tenders and a Triton submersible.

There is plenty of space for friends and family on board as she can accommodate 12 guests who will be looked after by an impressive 33 crew members. At her cruising speed of 15 knots she has a range of 7,100 nautical miles making her capable of extended periods at sea.

The project presented its fair share of challenges, notably the construction of a tender garage on the Lower Deck fitting a 16m day tender. The second tender garage on Main Deck accommodates three boats and a Triton Submersible for up to seven guests.

Joseph Dirand says that his aim was to create a boat that was timeless, classic and contemporary with a large amount of outdoor space. “This is exactly what I see when I look at it today - the black hull is really spectacular and looks completely monolithic,” he says.

“I have been obsessed by this project during all those years and it is the opportunity of my life to design a boat like this,” adds Dirand. “I am happy today that everyone is realizing why all those details were so important to get to this result. It is my turn to thank the shipyard for being such a great partner in the realization of this dream.”

The yacht uses a diesel-electric propulsion system designed for quiet operation, using two 2200 kW electric propulsion motors, manufactured by RAMME Electric Machines GmbH and supplied by SER Schiffselektronik Rostock GmbH. 

To ensure a steady supply of electrical power, the vessel is equipped with two 2240 kW Caterpillar main generators and three 599 kW Caterpillar auxiliary generators, supplied by Zeppelin Power Systems.

The construction project was managed by Cornelsen & Partners.

Abeking & Rasmussen delivers its largest superyacht

The German shipyard has delivered the 118m Liva°, the largest yacht it has built since it was founded in 1907.

Abeking & Rasmussen has delivered the 118.2m Liva° , notable for its black hull and super-clean exterior and interior design by Joseph Dirand Architecture in Paris. Featuring accommodation for 12 guests and 33 crew, the 388ft, 5,054GT superyacht has a fully certified helicopter pad on the sky deck and is the largest yacht built by the German shipyard, which was founded in 1907.

Cornelsen & Partner project managed the construction process on behalf of the owner, while Abeking & Rasmussen admitted it “ was a huge challenge for the shipyard to implement all technical necessities to be as invisible as possible to strictly follow the challenging aesthetic design intent ”.

To maintain the elegant black silhouette, traditional anchor pockets are replaced by underwater anchors on the keel. Challenging technical aspects included the construction of a lower-deck garage fitting a 16m day tender, while the second tender garage forward on the main deck accommodates three boats, a seven-passenger Triton submersible, bicycles, water toys and dive equipment.

Joseph Dirand said: “I wanted this boat to be timeless, elegant, pure, thine, classic, contemporary with a large amount of outdoor space to be immersive with the surround landscape. This is exactly what I see when I look at it. The black hull is really spectacular and looks completely monolithic.

“I’ve been obsessed by this project and it’s the opportunity of my life to design a boat like this. I’m happy that everyone is realising why all those details were so important to get to this result. It’s my turn to thank the shipyard for being such a great partner in the realisation of this dream.”

Standout features include the Neptune Lounge, where guests have an underwater view through a window measuring 3.4m by 1.3m. For an exceptional above-water observation experience, the crow’s nest at the foot of the mast offers a privileged vantage point, while other inviting outdoor areas include a forward sun deck with a round sofa and large marble-clad fireplace.

The main deck includes a 12m by 4m pool with a floor capable of being elevated to the upper level and adorned with liquid marble – creating an illusion reminiscent of the sea’s surface – while marble also envelops the pool walls and surroundings.

For quiet operation during navigation and manoeuvring, Liva° has a sophisticated diesel-electric propulsion system including two 2,200kW electric propulsion motors manufactured by Ramme Electric Machines and supplied by SER (Schiffselektronik Rostock).

Other technical equipment includes two 2,240kW Caterpillar main generators, three 599kW Caterpillar auxiliary generators by Zeppelin Power Systems, four Voith thrusters and four SKF stabiliser fins. The yacht can reach 18 knots and has a range of 7,100nm at a cruising speed of 15 knots.

“This comprehensive blend of cutting-edge technology culminates in a propulsion and comfort system that ensures efficiency, silence, and seamless operation,” Abeking & Rasmussen stated.

LIVA // Abeking & Rasmussen // Joseph Dirand Architecture

German shipyard abeking & rasmussen launched its largest superyacht to date, with a length of 118.20 meters. joseph dirand designed the interior and the exterior design..

LIVA is powered by a diesel-electric propulsion with four VOITH thrusters. The two Caterpillar main generators have a power of 2240 kW. Furthermore, there are three 599 kW auxiliary generators – by Caterpillar as well.

LIVA welcomes a 16m day tender in a lower deck garage. According to Abeking & Rasmussen, that was one of the construction challenges. Another tender garage is on the main deck forward. There is space for three boats, a seven-person Triton submarine, diverse water toys, bicycles, and diving equipment.

The yacht features a Neptune/Nemo lounge (a window half underwater – example )

For LIVA , aka Project 6507, Abeking & Rasmussen used a new laser welding method . The Photon AG from Berlin developed it together with A&R to get smoother surfaces with fewer reworks.
