Whether you’re after some peaceful weekend sailing at your local pond, or you plan on blowing the competition out of the water at RC races, a great RC sailboat is a must have.

We know there’s lots of options out there – but don’t worry, we’re here to help you find the best RC sailboat for you!

There’s a range on the market, from the fast and furious like Volantexrc RC Sailboat to models just perfect for a Sunday morning cruise. Here’s what to look out for.

While RC sailboats are speedy, they certainly aren’t the fastest boats on the water, and many hobbyists who want a zoom around the lake opt for a catamaran or race boat. That’s not to say sailboats aren’t speedy – with those designed for racing reaching up to 30mph. However, most sailboats are perfect for a tranquil day on the water, just like their full scale counterparts!

If you’ve got a need for speed, get a sailboat like DragonForce 65 RC Sailboat which is specifically designed for competitions with a lightweight design.

RC sailboats will come with a steering servo, most likely already installed. The rudder is used for steering which can make them slightly less smooth to steer than other RC models, but they should still be very easy to control.

Design and Detail

A DIY RC sailboat allows you to be a little more creative when it comes to the detail, and many hobbyists choose to put their own stamp on their boat with unique colors and patterns. Small but intricate details will give your sailboat a more realistic look and help it stand out from the rest at competitions.

A long, sleek design will allow the boat to go faster across the water, while bigger and heavier models are perfect for slower speeds. If you’re serious about RC sailboats, most can be upgraded with new parts to get them race-ready.

Sailing the high seas with your RC sailboat is a great way to spend an afternoon, or an entire day, and our top 3 RC sailboats will guarantee you hours of fun. For the easy to follow instructions, smooth and sleek design, and the high quality parts, the DragonFlite 95 RC Sailboat claims the top spot for best RC sailboat.

What Makes a Great RC Sailboat?

A great RC sailboat is a harmonious blend of design, materials, and performance, allowing you to harness the power of the wind effortlessly. Several key factors contribute to the excellence of an RC sailboat:

Hull Design: The hull’s shape plays a crucial role in determining the boat’s speed, stability, and maneuverability. A well-designed hull should strike the perfect balance between hydrodynamics and buoyancy, enabling the boat to glide smoothly through the water while maintaining a steady course.

Sail Configuration: The sail plan, including the number, size, and shape of the sails, significantly impacts the boat’s ability to capture wind power. A properly configured sail setup will allow you to efficiently harness the wind’s energy, translating it into forward momentum and precise control.

Rigging and Hardware: High-quality rigging and hardware components are vital for a great RC sailboat. Durable, lightweight materials like carbon fiber or high-grade aluminum ensure smooth operation, easy adjustments, and long-lasting performance.

Radio Control System: A responsive and reliable radio control system is the backbone of a successful RC sailing experience. Advanced features like programmable mixing, telemetry, and failsafe modes contribute to precise control and enhanced safety.

Build Quality: Meticulous attention to detail in construction and assembly is the hallmark of a great RC sailboat. Robust materials, precise tolerances, and skilled craftsmanship ensure that every component works in harmony, delivering a seamless sailing experience.

By combining these elements, a great RC sailboat becomes an extension of your skills, allowing you to navigate the waters with grace, precision, and sheer enjoyment.

How to Choose the Best RC Sailboat?

Ignite your passion with the perfect rc sailboat.

Sailing has been a beloved pastime for centuries, and with the advent of remote-controlled (RC) sailboats, you can now experience the thrill of conquering the waves from the comfort of the shoreline. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or a newcomer to the world of RC sailing, choosing the right RC sailboat can be the difference between a frustrating experience and an exhilarating adventure. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll dive into the key factors to consider when selecting your ideal RC sailboat, ensuring that you make an informed decision that aligns with your needs and aspirations.

Define Your Sailing Style

Before embarking on your search for the perfect RC sailboat, it’s crucial to understand your sailing style and preferences. Are you seeking a leisurely cruise around a tranquil lake, or do you crave the adrenaline rush of racing against fellow enthusiasts? Perhaps you’re a hobbyist who enjoys the challenge of customizing and tweaking your vessel for optimal performance. Identifying your sailing goals will help you narrow down your options and ensure that the RC sailboat you choose is tailored to your specific requirements.

Mastering the Art of Hull Design

The hull of an RC sailboat is the foundation upon which its performance is built. Different hull designs cater to various sailing conditions and styles. For instance, a sleek, lightweight hull may offer blistering speed but sacrifice stability, while a wider, heavier hull might prioritize steadiness over raw speed. Consider factors such as the water conditions you’ll be sailing in, your desired maneuverability, and your skill level when evaluating hull designs.

Unfurling the Secrets of Sail Configuration

Just as the hull dictates the overall performance of your RC sailboat, the sail configuration plays a crucial role in harnessing the wind’s power. From single-sail rigs to multi-sail setups, each configuration offers unique advantages and challenges. Single-sail rigs are generally easier to manage, making them ideal for beginners or those seeking a more relaxed sailing experience. Conversely, multi-sail configurations provide advanced sailors with greater control and the ability to fine-tune their vessel’s performance to match varying wind conditions.

Unlocking the Potential with Quality Components

While the hull and sail configuration are the most visibly striking elements of an RC sailboat, the quality of its components should not be overlooked. From the radio control system to the rigging and hardware, investing in high-quality components can make a significant difference in your sailing experience. A reliable radio control system ensures precise maneuvering and fail-safe operation, while durable rigging and hardware components ensure your sailboat can withstand the rigors of the open water.

Tailoring Your Choice to Your Experience Level

As with any pursuit, RC sailing has a learning curve, and it’s essential to choose an RC sailboat that aligns with your experience level. If you’re a beginner, opt for a stable, forgiving model that will allow you to develop your skills gradually. As you gain confidence and proficiency, you can upgrade to more advanced sailboats that offer greater performance and challenge. What to Consider

While you can likely get away with using a larger RC boat on a pond or lake, you may want to stick to a smaller model if you’ll be floating yours in a backyard swimming pool or need to pack something tiny. RC boats can be up to two feet long, so make sure to consider the journey to the water, too, especially if the boat you’re eyeing doesn’t come with a carrying case.

Weight and Speed

The RC boat’s weight helps determine how fast it can move. Heavier boats are better equipped to move at high speeds without capsizing, whereas lighter boats can be speedy using less power, a.k.a., slower acceleration. Think of it like torque on a car (or a full-sized boat, for that matter)—the more power the boat gets from the battery, electric, or gas motor, the faster it can accelerate.

Speed is also dependent on the type of hull—some boats are shaped for optimal turning and curves, while others are built for picking up speed while driving in a straight line.

The priciest models can reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. We mostly recommend recreational, battery-powered RC boats that reach speeds up to 30 miles per hour, since the more powerful, expensive models are meant for hardcore hobbyists and professional racers.

Capsize Recovery

Many RC boats have anti-capsize, or capsize recovery, functionality to prevent them from flipping over (and staying overturned). Flipping an RC boat is extremely easy, especially if you lack experience, and can lead to a sinking ship. If you’re new to RC boating, consider grabbing one with capsize recovery, making your boat rebalance and flip back over if it tips.

How We Selected

We researched each model’s speed, customer rating, durability, and unique features. We also consulted buying guides from several top hobbyist publications. We’ve picked options for every type of RC boat customer, whether you’re a casual hobbyist, buying a first boat for your kids, or you’re a dedicated RC enthusiast.

ALPHAREV RC Boat with Case R308

RC Boat with Case R308

This boat features an anti-capsize hull system, so if it tips over or gets hit by a wave, it’ll flip back over to recover. It also has LED lights installed to make it easy to see when it’s dark. Thanks to the autopilot mode that loops the boat into a figure-eight shape, children can easily use it, too.

The R308 comes with two batteries and two chargers, with users reporting approximately 20 minutes of power (counting both batteries) when operating the boat at full speed. It has a 400-foot signal range for distance driving and tops at 20 miles per hour. With its carry case, the R308 is a solid RC boat for most users.

Force1 Velocity H102

Velocity H102

This boat reaches speeds of 20-plus miles per hour, making it great for anyone who wants their toy to fly on the water. This boat features a capsize recovery mode, a water-cooled engine, and a double-hatched body, making it easier to control on waves. The charge time is a little long, three to four hours, but it can ride for up to 15 minutes at full power.

Customers say this boat reaches top speed fairly quickly, though some report that the controller is difficult to use and not very responsive. Still, it handles well on the water and is a super speedy boat.

Pro Boat RC Jet Boat Blackjack 24"

RC Jet Boat Blackjack 24"

A critical favorite, the Blackjack 24 is one smooth RC boat. It handles well with a very responsive controller, takes turns quickly, and according to one critic, it remains stable even at speeds up to 30 miles per hour. Its bright color also makes it easy to see while it’s out on the water, so you’ll never lose track of it.

Customers report roughly 15 to 20 minutes of playtime, and many say it’s surprisingly fast and responsive. One customer also says that although it’s an experienced hobby-grade toy, it’s very intuitive to operate.

DEERC RC Boat with LED Light

RC Boat with LED Light

This is an excellent option for anyone eager to get into RC boating but unsure of their prowess on the water. It features two autopilot modes, so there’s plenty of opportunity to learn how to use it. It also has an extended playtime of 30 minutes, giving you plenty of time to practice.

With features like capsize recovery, double hatch design, and low-battery and signal alarms, this boat is pretty much goof proof, making it the perfect boat for beginners on their way to becoming enthusiasts.

Altair Aerial AA102 RC Boat

AA102 RC Boat

If you need a well-rounded RC boat, this one has ample protection, zippy speeds, and excellent customer service, all in one attractive package. Its anti-capsize feature prevents it from tipping over, while several users say its nose bumper saved their boats from getting totaled through crashing.

It has an extra battery for more playtime, and several users say it provides up to 20 minutes of action after swapping it. Users who experienced issues with their boats were able to find replacement parts and products thanks to the company’s customer service help. Others say that it’s a terrific value, though the lack of a carry case is disappointing.

VOLANTEXRC Brushless RC Boat

Brushless RC Boat

If you need speed and don’t mind investing more money into your hobby, this boat is fantastic. The fastest model on this list, this boat has a top speed of 40 miles per hour, a range of up to 656 feet, and a water-cooled system that prevents the motor from overheating.

It also has safety features to prevent damage from the high speeds, like waterproofing and a one-piece hull to prevent cracks.

The biggest flaw is its lack of capsize recovery, and several users say their boats flipped in action, causing them to swim out to retrieve their toys. It also only comes with one battery.

Gizmovine RC Boat

RC Boat

This Gizmovine RC boat is a solid entry for children due to its capsize recovery, double-hatch protection against internal water damage, and easy-to-read LCD controller display. Many users say the boat’s excellent for children under 10, and its speed of up to 20 mph is perfect for controlling on the water.

While some say its battery life is too short, the controller features a low-battery warning for when it’s time to swap them out—plus it comes with two. The boat’s claimed speed is quick, but a slower pace can preserve battery life and provide a steady ride for children.

User reviews also say it’s perfect for the pool or a small lake where it’s easy to retrieve.

PLAYSTEAM Voyager 400 RC Sailboat

Voyager 400 RC Sailboat

If sailing is your preference, the Voyager 400 is the way to go. Rather than rely on an electric motor to push it forward, the Voyager 400 can sail in any body of water via wind power. Its remote controls the rudder and the propulsion, and just in case wind isn’t in the forecast, it comes with a detachable motor to help propel it.

Customers say it’s easy to use, and everything is sealed to keep interior components dry when it tips over. Its rechargeable remote battery can work for up to one hour, which puts most RC speedboats to shame. A drawback, however, is that if it gets stuck at sea without the motor attached, you’ll have to wait for it to wash ashore.

Cheerwing RC Racing Boat

RC Racing Boat

Cheerwing RC boats are fantastic if you’re looking for an affordable toy to race with your friends. This boat can hit up to 15 miles per hour and has some great features, including capsize recovery and automatic yaw correction, which rebalances your boat. It also signals when the battery is low or starts to lose signal, giving you peace of mind.

If you want to try RC boating without spending much, this is a solid buy. Its biggest downside is in its battery life—just six to eight minutes per charge—and it doesn’t come with the option to buy a second battery, so it requires frequent recharging.

Buying Guide Questions

Below are answers to some of the questions that usually come up as regards RC sailboats. It will help you make more informed decisions concerning RC sailboats as well as know where you can take the fun to among other stuff.

What size servo for one meter RC sailboat?

The prominent servo that is present in RC sailboats is the sail servo and there are two styles of sail servos, and you will likely find one of them in 1-meter RC sailboats. They are the sail winch servo and the sail arm servo.

Related: Wondering what the difference is with RC Hovercrafts? Then check out our guide on that topic.

The sail winch servo has a drum like wheel that houses the sail line. The rotation of the drum controls the length of the sail line that is being released or brought in. The main advantage of this sail servo is its small space requirement compared to the other sail servo. It can bring in the total sail line length in roughly three revolutions. However, its reaction time can be slow at times.

The sail arm servo utilizes a long arm to draw the sail line or release it. Its response time is quicker compared to the sail winch servo. It can be used alongside standard servo.

What causes RC sailboat to tip?

Various factors can cause an RC sailboat to tip. Top among these factors is weather conditions . An RC sailboat can tip if it encounters a harsh wind along with heavy rainfall.

Other factors can be mechanical failures, which usually occur as a result of some parts of the RC sailboat failing, or get damaged. If the sailboat collides with another sailboat or obstacle, it may also cause it to tip, this would of course not happen with RC Submarines or RC underwater drones , but those are typically more costly.

What is the length of a certified racing RC sailboat?

Various racing RC sailboats come with different lengths. However, to enter some competitions they have to meet the certified length requirement of the regulating body. World Sailing is the body that governs sailing as a sport around the world and they have a standardized length for sailboats of different classes.

For racing RC sailboats, the certified length is 1,000 mm (1 meter). This is also regarded as the hull length of the boat.

How do I get a permit to sail RC sailboat in central park?

Sailing your boat in central park is a fun activity, and people have been doing this for over a hundred years. So, it is normal that residents, as well as visitors, would want to partake in this activity.

You can get permits to store your sailboat in central park that is in charge of the park. There have rules and regulations that govern sailing in the park. There is a limit to the size of the sailboat you can bring to the park, and there is a designated period in the year when you can store your sailboats and sail.

How to paint an RC sailboat?

It is usually fun to see RC sailboats with impressive patterns and colors different from their original manufacturer design. Most of these sailboats are products of extra work put in by the owners to identify their boats as well as give it an appealing aesthetic view of their choice. There is no harm in wanting to add some spice to your RC sailboat, however, it is important to know how to go about it.

There are various ways people take to paint their sailboats, however, learning people who already have experience in painting sailboats because this will save you a lot of stress, and ensure that you have for yourself a lasting design.

The first thing to do is to draw the pattern of whatever design you want on your boat, then tape areas that need taping using a masking tape that pulls off cleanly after paint without distorting the paint lines. Cover the areas that you don’t want the paint to touch, then apply the spray paint on the boat. Ensure that the paint is well dried before removing the tape.

How do RC sailboats work?

The traditional sailboat does not work like the conventional boat, and this is the same for RC sailboats. That is why is essential to understand how they work before setting out to sail.

Unlike the conventional sailboat, all you have to do to control this sailboat is to use the radio control system where is a feedback mechanism between the transmitter and the receiver. There are two major components of the sailboat that are responsible for steering and moving the sailboat forward; these respective components are the rudder and sail trim.

RC sailboats utilize wind energy to move the boat on water. It does this by redirecting the wind or capturing a sizable amount of wind, enough to propel it forward. To accomplish this, the sailor has to ensure that the sail trim is adjusted properly in the direction that allows it to capture enough wind and move forward. The sail servo controls the degree to which a sail will swing using lines that are attached to the sail. The shorter the line, the fewer the degrees the sail is allowed to sway, and vice versa.

The rudder on the other hand is used to steer the sailboat in different directions. There is a servo that actuates the rudder of the sailboat to accomplish this after the radio system of the sailboat has received an input signal from the controller.

Understanding how a normal sailboat works may be the key to you having a long-lasting time with your RC sailboat. Also, it is essential to always go for products with good quality to prevent avoidable disappointments.

Insider Tip: be careful of the damage that saltwater can cause to RC boats of all kinds if you are not paying attention

I have often admired the quiet, graceful way radio control sailboats glide across the water at my local pond, using only wind power. So much so that I decided to find out more, and I did a lot of digging into RC sailboats for beginners, and what I should buy. Here’s the result of my research – I hope it helps you!

RC Sailboats For Beginners – Top Picks

It’s difficult to conclude which sailboat might be best for beginners, as it all depends on how serious you want to take the hobby, and in particular whether you’ll want to race it eventually.

One good way of approaching this is to join a club ( US ) ( UK ) and get to chat with other members about their experiences. However, if you’re not the joining type, or just want to get on to your local pond as quickly as possible, here’s a selection of RC sailboats you might like.

We’ve scoured the web for advice on club sites and forums to back up our choices, so you shouldn’t be disappointed. As a beginner, you’ll probably want to choose a boat that is ready to sail (RTS), with very little, if anything, to do before getting out onto the water. Avoid boats that require a lot of assembly, save for inserting the main sail and batteries.

So, if you’re short of time, here’s the top pick 3 RC sailboats for beginners we’ve found:

Any recommendations we make are always based on either products we already own and use, or are carefully assessed in terms of their attributes and user feedback – criteria we use ourselves whenever we buy. Where products sold by Amazon are suggested, they will have the following criteria at the time of writing, unless there are no alternatives available:

  • Minimum of 4 stars
  • No more than 10% of all reviews are 1 or 2 stars
  • The product has a minimum of 100 reviews

We also highly rate products that have free shipping or are sold through Amazon Prime.

Look out for a ready to sail (RTS) or even a Ready to Race (RTR) model. Go for a model which has everything included (probably apart from the AA batteries for the transmitter – some beginners’ models even has these!)

Check out your local club, to see what they sail there. That way, you’ll get advice on what to buy, and consider a boat which others in the club race. It’s much more fun if you can participate in club racing. Find where your nearest club is by talking to your local hobby shop, or by contacting the American Model Yachting Association  here or the Model Yachting Association in the UK, here .

If you feel particularly ambitious, you could consider buying an RC sailboat kit. More about that here .

A radio controlled sailboat is one that can be sailed and controlled remotely with radio control equipment to monitor and chart its course. You can find easy, ready-to-use sailboats available, pre-built to include a radio, along with other receivers and servos, an electric motor, and all the other fittings and accessories needed.

The transmitter, the thing you hold in your hands as your boat is sailing, usually operates on a 2.4 GHz frequency, and either has a wheel-like controller to control the boat’s steering or a couple of sticks that control the steering and the position of the sails.

A common setup involves 2 channels – one for the rudder control, and the other for the sails. The right stick moves left or right, and usually controls the rudder (making the boat go left or right), whilst the left stick, moving up and down, controls the sails (moving them in, or out).

The transmitter sends a signal to a receiver in the boat; depending on the type of signal (ie whether it is a steering command, or a sail command) to tell onboard batteries (usually Ni-MH or Li-Po type) to power a servo (ie something which translates an electrical signal into a mechanical signal) to move either the rudder left or right, or the sails in or out.

Whilst purists may consider a radio controlled sailboat should use only wind power, rather than electric to move it through the water, some do have the benefit of having an electric motor, either as a backup for when the boat is becalmed or for those tricky maneuvers when bringing it back to the pontoon.

The electric motor, connected to the shaft that runs towards the back of the boat  is usually at the front end of the boat. It also happens to contain a grease-filled stuffing tube that is used to provide lubrication as well as to prevent water from entering into the hull.

The propeller is usually to be found at the end of the shaft.

All the sensitive electronic equipment in the boat is protected by waterproof membranes or casings, for obvious reasons.

What Are The Main Components of an RC Sailboat?

Most model RC sailboats for beginners come with built in nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries, although some also come with the costlier, more powerful Lithium Polymer (Li-Po) batteries. Lithium Polymer batteries are lighter as well and have a high capacity, which makes them ideal for longer runs. To learn more about batteries for rc models, click here .

Lead Acid batteries are used in larger models, and use the weight for ballast to deliver a clean source of power.

The most common type of  Transmitter  for RC sailboats are the stick-type transmitters that allow for easy use and control over the sails and rudder. The Transmitter is held in your hands, and is usually set on a common frequency, such as 2.4 Mhz.

The  Receiver , which is positioned inside the hull of the remote control boat,  is the part that is responsible for converting radio signals from the transmitter to an electric signal used to control the rudder and sails.

A Servo switch  converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. In beginner radio control sailboats one servo moves the rudder, and another is the sail servo.

There are usually two popular choices of electric motors used in RC Sailboats. The first is a brushless motor that is known to give high speed but poor low end speed control. If you do have a brushless motor, it is generally recommended that a matched pair of motor and electronic speed controls be bought.

The second, the brushed motors, have good low end control and are available from low speed, high torque to high speed, lower torque.

Flexible shafts are often used in racing RC sailboats, but need to be carefully picked in accordance to size and mounting configuration in the hull.

Here’s a brief, step-by-step of how to work RC sailboats for beginners. For a more detailed step by step guide on sailing an RC sailboat, click here .

Clean and tension the rigging whilst it’s on its cradle (A lot of model beginner rc sailboats are sold with a cradle to make it easier to work on the boat whilst it’s out of the water, or they are available separately).

Ensure the battery or batteries are charged and check the functioning of the radio control equipment.

Check the wind and the direction it is blowing. RC sailboats are usually pretty light in weight so you will need to watch out for whether your sailboat can withstand the winds prevailing at the time.

Equally, watch out for conditions which are too calm – this can be very frustrating as the boat languishes becalmed!

Avoid river sailing when you’re a beginner – the currents may be strong and make control difficult.

Also avoid ponds, lakes, and bodies of water with a lot of vegetation – both seen (on the surface) and unseen (under the surface). Weeds may catch the keel and or rudder, stranding the RC yacht out of reach.

Never sail near swimmers, bathers, and people fishing, particularly if you’re still learning to control it properly.

Your boat will have to sail upwind when you set it off from the dock. Just place it in the water, turn the bow slightly away from the side of the pond or pier and tighten the sails acting on the left joystick, allowing the wind to power the sails and propel the sailboat forward.

You can always stop the sailboat by tuning the bow into the wind and letting go of the sails control line to release the wind pressure off of the sails and pull the boat to a halt.

To return, make sure your sailboat is sailing windward (ie into the wind). As the boat nears the pier, release the sails to reduce the boat’s speed.

The more experience you get of sailing an RC sailboat, the more you’ll enjoy it. I was told to just do it – the more mistakes you make the better – and sooner –  you’ll learn.

The popularity of this amazing hobby means you’re never alone unless you want to be. RC sailing clubs are great places for newbies and experienced RC skippers alike.

Knowing how to control the boat in different conditions is where the real skill comes in. It’s all about timing and precision. And the better you get as an RC sailor, the more enjoyable the experience.

With a steady hand, practice and a good and thorough knowledge of the ins and outs of how it works, there is no reason why, with a few days of hard training, preferably from an expert, a beginner shouldn’t get the hang of sailing one.

rc sailboats for beginners

As a beginner, you may want to get familiar with the general aspects of rc sailing before entering races. Nevertheless, racing rc sailboats is an exciting hobby, and will no doubt provide a sociable way of testing your skills.

The best way to further this aspect of the hobby is to join a club, details of which will be held with your local hobby shop, or check out a local club near you. You’ll find lots of help finding a club, as well as sailing your boat, at the  American Model Yachting Association and the Model Yachting Association in the UK.

The official body overseeing RC sailboat racing internationally is the  International Radio Sailing Association .

Once you get into it, racing provides a set of rigorous rules to sail by. There are specific classes of racing boats, generally denoted by a short letter/number combination. For example, the EC R12M class is found predominantly in the USA, EC standing for East Coast, with a hull length of between 58 and 60 in.

Other classes include the R1M, which requires hulls of 1 m in length. A good example of this is the Robbe Windstar.

Some clubs organize races for particular models, such as the Kyosho Fairwind.

A common racing standard is the Dragonforce 65 class. This type of boat is readily available and ready to sail. See the table above. Here’s a short video showing some exciting DF65 racing:

How Do I Get Started with Radio Control Sailboats?

Your best bet when starting out, as I found, is to look for a local club, and join it. That way you’ll get lots of advice which will probably save you hundreds of dollars in the long run.

If you’re not the joining type, head over to your nearest pond, lake or resevoir and see if there are rc sailors on the water, and if so get talking to them. They’ll certainly be enthusiastic and willing to help.

It all started with a line controlled spitfire 50 years ago….

That turned into a life long interest in models, in particular radio controlled models, but I’ve only got back into it since I’ve been retired. As a result a lot has changed, and I’ve been happily starting afresh, researching into the hobby and finding answers to the questions all beginners have when starting out.

I hope you find some answers to the queries you have, and go on to enjoy all aspects of this fascinating hobby.

Top 3 Best RC Sailboats (Buyer's Guide 2023)

RC sail boat 1

If you're looking for the best RC sailboat of 2023, you've come to the right place.

We specialize in drones, but at the same time, we love anything RC related! If you love drones too, here's a  list of my best cheap drones ranked by price  in 2023. To make sure you find the best deal this year, I've put together a list of the top RC sailboats you can get - all ranked according to price, user reviews, and personal experience. So whether you're a budget shopper or just want to get the most out of your money, take a look at my top picks and find the perfect sailboat for you!

1. PLAYSTEM Voyager 400 RC - Best RC sailboat for the money

dji-mini-2-table-img

The Voyager 400 RC sailboat is one of the most popular on Amazon for a reason. Not only does it offer great value for money, but it's ideal for both beginners and intermediate users alike.

The boat stands 26.5 inches tall from bottom of keel to the top of the mast, with a 21-inch rise above the water surface, while its width measures 100mm exactly. With just some batteries and a gust of wind, you'll be ready to set sail - though you may want to avoid major waves and winds over 15mph. Voyager 400RC can be used in saltwater as well, as long as the conditions allow for it.  If you're just starting with this hobby and you want to try out a serious, sturdy and rather cheap boat, the Voyager 400 RC is absolutely perfect for you.

  • 21-inch rise above the water surface
  • It can be used in saltwater
  • Sturdy and rather cheap boat

2.Rage Eclipse 650 (RC B1302) - Ideal for intermediates

The Rage RC Eclipse 650 sailboat is the perfect ride for any sailing enthusiast, whether they're just starting out or have been at it for years. The ABS hull is blow molded to ensure durability while the pre-applied trim design gives a full-sized sailboat look when out on the lake. There's even some convenience thrown in with this model since it arrives partially pre-rigged and ready to get on the water quickly!

The Eclipse 650 has a 17g drum-style winch servo which provides power and smoother, more scale like operation than conventional servos. From the box you'll find everything you need - 2.4GHz interference free radio system, 4 AA batteries for the transmitter and 4 for powering servos, plus an easy to assemble display stand to show off your new sailboat when not in use. With some final assembly, you'll be able to take your RC boat out on a breeze across your local pond or lake with ease!

  • The ABS hull is blow molded to ensure durability
  • Pre-applied trim design
  • 17g drum-style winch servo
  • 2.4GHz interference free radio system
  • Expensive (but that's why you're here)

3.PLAYSTEAM Voyager 280 - Best cheap RC sailboat you can find (Under $100)

The Voyager 280 is the only RC sailing boat you can find that doesn't break the $100 pricepoint.

Compact in size and easy to use, this little boat stands at 17.5 inches tall and can be operated without any license. Just make sure to install 4AA batteries for the transmitter and charge its LiPo battery via its port in the back of the transmitter, which usually takes about 15 minutes.

Remember to check out conditions before hitting those waves - while it's perfect for light winds, we don't recommend using it in gusty winds or above 15mph.

To access its interior, simply turn its "table" on deck 90 degrees to unlock its hatch latch from the deck below it.

If you're ready for a great adventure out on the water, then grab your gear and let this little boat show you what's possible!

  • Compact in size and easy to use
  • Can be operated without any license
  • Not able to handle major waves and winds

What's the best transmitter for RC sailboats?

My following two recommendations are 2 great compact drones that are quite silent and also small enough to travel with and not stand out as annoying.

Thankfully, all the RC saiboats in this ranking come with a transmitter included, so you don't need to worry about it. Other models won't, but... well, other models are not included in this ranking.  There isn't the absolute best transmitter for all sailing boats. But pretty much any good 2.4 GHz RC controller with the proper channels will do the trick.

What are RC sailboats and how expensive do they get? RC sailboats are remote-controlled sailboats that are used by hobbyists and professionals alike for recreation, racing, and even rescue operations. Powered exclusively by wind, these boats are generally unmotorized and can come in various sizes. The price range is between $100 and $250 for the "hobby" level versions.   Getting into this hobby is not that hard, but when it comes to any type of RC boat, you must make sure you're having plenty of room on a lake or any other large water surface.

I won't be dwelling for much on how to start the hobby, because if you're already looking for the best RC Sailboat, you might have figured out these things for yourself. How does an RC Sailboat work?

There are two types of RC boats you might be thinking of:

  • RC motorized boats
  • RC boats with sails

The difference between these two is obvious, and they have completely different operation plans.  If you have an RC boat, you will rely on the motors all the time.  An RC sailboat requires you to maneuver and speed it up using just the sails and the power of the wind. It's not that easy!

You'll be controlling only the rudder (this controls the direction of the boat in the water) and the sail trim that adjusts the angle of the sails and how much your boat is influenced by the wind blowing.

Where can I race an RC Sailboat?

Harnessing the power of the wind seems like a pretty bad idea in a world where there are already waterproof electrical motors, but this is not made for efficiency, but rather as a hobby that requires going with the flow of nature. You can have fun with these awesome toys either in a pool, pond or even on bigger lakes. Most of them are "saltwater ready", but waves might give you a hard time if it's too windy.

What to look for in a Sailboat?

A good sailboat should have good equilibrium and not tip over in stronger winds. They should also come with tow lines and be made out of good enough materials so that water won't get inside easily.

A few other important factors that not many people think of when buying one are:

  • How good is the sail material
  • How responsive  the rudde r is ( how easily it steers left or right)
  • If it has any weak spots that can break without repair
  • Size and how easy it is to carry around

What do I do if my RC sailboat tips?

This shouldn't be a reason to worry if you're using it in normal conditions.

None of the models I presented should ever tip over in safe conditions and without holes in the hull or being hit by something else.

If your RC sailboat tips, turn off the radio controller and use your tow line, a boat or swim to retrieve it.

Are RC boats a good gift idea for children?

Sure, if your kid is passionate about sailboats, it could be an awesome gift, but otherwise these boats are rather hard to maneuver. So I don't recommend gifting an RC sail boat to a children unless they know how to use it.

How should you properly store an RC boat when you're not using it?

Storing an RC sailboat when you're not using it is important to ensure its longevity and performance. Here are some tips to keep your sailboat in great condition when storing:

  • Make sure to clean off any dirt or dust from the RC sailboat with a soft cloth before putting it into storage.
  • Store your boat in a dry place that is not affected by direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
  • For extra protection against moisture damage, you can place your sailboat inside a plastic bag with desiccants before storing.
  • It's also key to make sure the battery and all other electronic components are completely drained before storing - this will reduce the chances of corrosion occurring and damaging the vehicle.
  • To prevent paint chips and scratches, make sure that multiple boats are not touching each other when stored together.

Top 5 Best RC Boats For Sale

Not sure what kind of boat you’re looking for? Don’t know the difference between a remote control pontoon boat and a drag boat? Not to worry – this section is dedicated to our top 5 overall picks for the best RC boats for sale. These new remote control boats are great for adults and kids alike, and are a great choice for anyone looking to find the best RC boat for the money and get into the radio control hobby.

#1. The AA Tide – #1 RC Boat for the Money

Click here to See it On Amazon! or you can g–>Get fast and free shipping from the manufacturer’s website at AltairAerial.com .

The Tide RC Brushless Boat is the newest addition to our list. This sleek and stylish RC boat from Altair can reach speeds up to 40 KM/h at a range of over 100 meters! Typically, when you see features in a boat like this, you’re looking at a price tag approaching $200!!

Just as the AA102 has, the Tide features an Anti-Capsize Hull System that enables the user to flip the boat back over if it ever capsizes. It also features a low-battery alarm and an out of range alarm as well, so you can be sure the boat doesn’t get stranded far out at sea.

Probably my favorite feature on this boat isn’t really on the boat at all… it’s the charger. Altair has included a balance charger with this boat, a much-needed upgrade from the AA102. The balance charger helps maintain your battery’s health by not overcharging it and making sure that each cell in the battery is charged at the proper rate. The battery itself, well, it only gets about 8 minutes per charge, so I’ll probably add another one shortly.

The Tide Specifications

  • • Can Reach Speeds Up to 40 km/h
  • • Range: 100+ meters (330 ft)
  • • Comes with 1 11.1V 1500mAH Li-ion Battery
  • • Out of Range Alarm, Low Battery Alarm
  • • Anti-Capsize Hull System Designed to Not Flip Over

#2. Altair AA102 – Best Remote Control Boat for Beginners

Click here to See it On Amazon! or you can get fast and free shipping from the manufacturer’s website at AltairAerial.com .

The AA102 is a fantastic looking RC boat that really has some performance numbers to go with it. This release from Altair can reach speeds of up to 30 km/h at a range of up to 100 meters which is fantastic when you look in this price range. The boat comes loaded with features that include an Anti-Capsize Hull System that ensures if your boat flips over it will right itself in the water for you. There also is a low battery alarm and an out of range alarm just in case you lose track of how much fun you’re having.

Check out this video from Altair for the AA102:

The one drawback that I found on this boat is that the battery life isn’t what I would want it to be (only 7 minutes), but they do include 2 batteries in the package so you do get almost 15 minutes of runtime before you need to re-charge both batteries.

Pair that kind of performance and top notch features with the Altair brand that is known for releasing high quality products and you have a rc boat that is one of the best bang for your buck remote control boats on the market today!

They even have an Altair Video Tutorials page that helps you get started. Email Altair Inc at [email protected]

AA102 Specifications

  • • Can Reach Speeds Up to 30 km/h
  • • Range: 100 meters (330 ft)
  • • Comes with 2 x 3.7V 1500mAH Li-ion Batteries

#3. The Wave – Great Budget RC Boat

The AA Wave is Altair’s other boat to release this year and it stands a close second on our list the the AA Aqua though it’s tough to go wrong with either boat. Just like the AA Aqua, the Altair Wave features an Anti-Capsize Hull System that can self correct any time your boat flips upside down in the water.

While this boat does go slightly slower (25 km/h) than the AA Aqua, the features on the two boats remain practically identical. Again, we wish that the battery life on this product was slightly longer, but they do send an extra battery with the product and at $70 you really are going to have a hard time finding a better buy.

AA Wave Specifications

  • • Can Reach Speeds Up to 25 km/h
  • • Range: 120 meters (390 ft)

#4. Proboat Blackjack

Read reviews and shop for the Proboat Blackjack Here

If you’re interested in fast remote control motor boats but can’t afford any of the best Traxxas models, the Proboat Blackjack is a great $200 substitute. It still moves at a good speed of 30+ miles per hour thanks to a powerful brushless 2000Kv water-cooled motor and 30A Li-Po compatible ESC. An off-set rudder system provides decent stability, and the red and black design just looks great cruising along a lake or pond.

A strongly recommended motor boat for the intermediate RC boat user.

Proboat Blackjack Specifications

  • • Takes a 2S or 3S lithium-ion polymer battery (not included)
  • • 30+ MPH top speed with 3S battery
  • • Brushless RC boat 2000Kv water-cooled motor
  • • 30A Li-Po compatible ESC
  • • 2.4GHz Pro Boat radio system
  • • Battery and charger not included

#5. Force1 H102 Velocity – Best Remote Control Boat for Lakes

Read reviews and shop for the Force1 H102 Velocity Here

The Force1 H102 Velocity is a very popular remote control boat for sale – a regular Amazon best-seller with good reviews to back it up. So it’s probably no surprise that the Velocity ended up so high on our list. There’s a lot to love with this new remote control boat – it’s easy to sail, costs less than 100 dollars, and moves at a fast 20 MPH top speed.

One of the best features of the Velocity is that it’s one of the new self-righting remote control boats that are becoming more popular. This means that if it capsizes, it can automatically right itself in most circumstances. This is a great feature for beginners who are more likely to capsize, and it’s also a great RC boat for lakes! A lot of experts like this sort of feature too, because it makes it easier to recover your property and means you can use it outside of shallow water.

Force1 H102 Velocity Specifications

  • • 20 MPH top speed
  • • 13” V-hull
  • • Takes a 7.4V 600mAh Lion Battery (2 included)
  • • Features a self-righting Capsize Recovery Mode
  • • Battery charger and cable included

#6. Traxxas Spartan – Best Professional Racing RC Boat

Read reviews and shop for the Traxxas Spartan Here

Traxxas is one of the most well-respected RC boat and car manufacturers working today. They’ve knocked it out of the park once again with their 57076 Spartan, which is one of the fastest remote control boats for sale thanks to an incredible top speed of 50 miles per hour!

How does it move so fast? Well, this is one of the new wave of brushless RC boats. Brushless motors operate more efficiently and can give the boat more power, and Traxxas’ Velineon motor is one of the best models around. Innovative design is the hallmark of every piece of this large RC speedboat, which also includes Traxxas stability management and a much better wireless connection than most other remote control boats.

There’s no denying that this is the most advanced and overall best RC boat we’ve reviewed, especially for rough waters. However, some of our readers will be turned away by the price, which is $421 before batteries and charger (which have to be purchased separately.) Still, if you have the money for it, this is a perfect boat for beginners and advanced pilots alike.

Traxxas Spartan Specifications

  • • 30-50 MPH top speed, depending on battery type
  • • 36” V-hull
  • • Low battery alarm will warn you when the boat is almost out of power
  • • Can be controlled via smartphone or radio transmitter
  • • equipped with Traxxas Stability Management
  • • Batteries and charger sold seperately

#7. UDIRC Venom

Read reviews and shop for the UDIRC Venom Here

This is a faster RC speedboat model that is really made for those that want to experience higher speeds and a lot of excitement. This cool RC boat is about a foot long and represents what people usually want most out of a modern, sleek remote control boat in the cheap price range. Some even consider it the best remote control speedboat for sale, although it’s only #2 on our list.

Users really love the low-battery alarm, which makes it so that you don’t have to worry about getting stranded way out in the middle of the body of water. It’s not recommended for use in an area that has huge waves, but the hull is overall very durable. And it controls very well, especially considering that most electric RC boats under $50…well, to put it politely, do NOT control very well.

One of the Venom’s unique features is the fact that it automatically cools its motor and prevents it from overheating using the water it sails on. This helps the boat last longer and also improves its battery life, which is among the best in its price range.

All-around, this is one of the best RC boats under $100.

UDIRC Venom Specifications

  • • 15 MPH top speed
  • • 12” V-hull
  • • Takes a 3.7 V 600Mah lithium ion battery (2 included)
  • • ABS anti-tilt hull construction
  • • USB battery charger and cable included

UDIRC Venom best rc boat for lakes

#8. Pro Boat Recoil

Read reviews and shop for the Pro Boat Recoil Here

The Recoil is another self-righting remote control boat for sale by Pro Boat, a company with a good reputation for customer service. It combines a lot of things we liked about other boats higher up on this list: it’s a fast boat, it’s large, and it’s a self righting RC boat. In fact, many would consider it the best beginner boat for sale. It also uses a 2950Kv brushless motor.

So what’s the catch? Well, first is the price. $180 isn’t beyond the pale, but it’s not exactly cheap, and some of these features are available in RC boats under 100. The second problem is the battery life – the Recoil only lasts 10 minutes on a single battery charge and doesn’t come with a spare.

Still, if you don’t mind springing for a few extra batteries, this is a great radio controlled boat for somebody who wants all of the latest features in a single, somewhat cheap package.

Pro Boat Recoil Specifications

  • • 25 MPH top speed
  • • 17” Deep-V hull
  • • Takes a 3S 1300mAh 11.1V LiPo Battery (1 included)
  • • 2950Kv brushless RC boat motor
  • • Battery charger included

#9. SOWOFA FT011 Ultimate Racing Boat

Read reviews and shop for the SOWOFA FT011 Here

The SOWOFA FT011, also known as the Ultimate Racing Boat, doesn’t quite live up to its name. In particular, it wouldn’t be right to mention this boat without explaining that the company behind it is a little less than ethical – the top image of this product on their Amazon page, for example, is blatantly misleading.

However, there’s still a lot to love about the FT011, which is one of the fastest and most fun remote control boats for sale. It has an incredible top speed, especially considering its large hull size. It operates on powerful brushless motors that don’t need cleaning and can self-right itself after a capsize. It also has a solid internal cooling mechanism that keeps the electronics running longer, and it’s a good thing too, because the battery life is only about 10-15 minutes. However, you can pay for a better battery and charger to upgrade this boat for not too much extra money.

In all, this is an excellent large RC boat for sale that will please hobbyists and experienced racers alike with its speed and ability. Just don’t expect a lot of post-sale customer support.

SOWOFA FT011 Specifications

  • • 50 MPH top speed
  • • 25” V-hull
  • • Takes a 14.8V 2200mA battery (1 included)
  • • Self-righting RC boat mode
  • • Brushless remote control boat motor

SOWOFA remote control boat

#10. Cheerwing RC Racing Boat

Read reviews and shop for the Cheerwing RC Racing Boat Here

The Cheerwing RC Racing Boat is a popular radio controlled boat because of its small size and excellent controls. Its streamlined hull and compact shape are actually specifically designed for use in smaller bodies of water such as a pond or lake.

And despite the Cheerwing’s low price it actually has decent specs, with a top speed of 15 MPH and a sailing time of 8 minutes off of only 80 minutes of charge. You might want to buy a couple spare batteries, but at least you won’t have to wait long to sail again after they’ve been spent.

This awesome RC boat for lakes is especially good for beginners, because it has self-righting capsize recovery features built right into the hull, auto-corrects its own tilt, is water-cooled, and has built-in alarms for low battery or weak signal connection. So if you’re looking for a great small RC boat that can be used in any conditions, the Cheerwing RC Racing Boat is an excellent choice.

Cheerwing Racing Boat Specifications

  • • Takes a 3.7V*2 600mAh Li-Fe battery (1 included)
  • • Self balancing stability mode
  • • Auto-correct yaw
  • • Fast charging time

cheerwing cool remote control boat

#11. Babrit F1

Read reviews and shop for the Babrit F1 Here

The Babrit F1 is a small boat that can move in any direction: forward, left, right, and reverse. Not many boats can move in reverse, and that advanced versatility makes the F1 one of the best remote control boats for lakes, because it’s easy to back away from the edge if you find yourself getting into a dangerous situation. Precise port position and self balancing sailing also keep this boat stable and upright in any condition.

The Babrit F1 is also just a good boat all around – it moves fast (but not so fast that it’s unusable in a smaller space), has a decent battery life, doesn’t cost too much and never loses signal connection. The only downside is that the transmitter range is a little short, but that really doesn’t matter in a small lake or pond. All in all, this is a great RC boat for beginners and experts (though it may find more favor with the former.)

Babrit F1 Specifications

  • • 11” V-hull
  • • Takes a 4.8V 700 mah battery (1 included)
  • • Moves in reverse

#12. Traxxas DCB M41 Catamaran – Fastest RC Motor Boat

Read reviews and shop for the Traxxas DCB M41 Catamaran Here

Now, someone’s almost certainly going to point out that technically ALL the boats we’ve reviewed so far have been remote control motor boats. That’s because all remote control boats (and remote control vehicles in general) require a motor to operate.

The Traxxas DCB M41 Catamaran, however, is the fastest RC motor boat for sale today. This is the kind of boat that you can actually use for racing, if you feel so inclined!

When you’re looking for cool RC motor boats with pure speed, there’s just no beating Traxxas. The DCB M41 twin-hull Catamaran (a term which refers to the boat’s unique shape) can go faster than 50 miles per hour thanks to a water-cooled, waterproof VXL-6s marine ESC with low-voltage protection and a Velineon 540XL brushless rc boat motor.

If that sounds like gibberish to you, here’s what you need to know: it’s fast, it’s tough (with an aluminum and stainless steel body), it has fine-tuned controls, and it moves great across smooth water. The only downside with this boat is that it’s fairly expensive and doesn’t come with batteries. But for anyone looking for one of the fastest RC motor boats around, money should be no object.

Traxxas DCB M41 Catamaran Specifications

  • • 60+ MPH top speed
  • • Takes a 6S lithium-ion polymer battery (not included)
  • • Velineon 540XL Brushless motor with high flow water-cooling jacket
  • • Blue-anodized aluminum rudder support, rudder, and drive strut
  • • Stainless steel trim tabs and hardware

RC boats costing less than $100 are great budget-friendly options that can be enjoyed by people of all skill levels. Since these are cheap RC boats, you may be missing out on some features that you’d find in more expensive RC boats, but don’t let that turn you away. These affordable RC toys under $100 still give you a great boating experience and may just be exactly what you’re looking for.

Some features to look for when shopping for RC boats less than $100 are speed, range, size, and battery life. An affordable boat will probably travel at speeds around 10-15 mph. While this isn’t as fast as some more professional-grade RC boats, these speeds are great for kids and beginners who are just starting the RC hobby. Similarly, the RC boat may not have the farthest range but this is okay because it will help drivers stay in control without their boat getting out too far in the water.

An RC water toy at this price may also be quite a bit smaller than other boats costing more than $100. Again, a smaller size will be beginner and kid-friendly and help them get started learning how to drive RC toys. The battery life in your RC boat may only be about 10-15 minutes as well. However, one good thing about RC boats less than $100 is that some manufacturers will include an extra battery giving users double the driving time.

As a parent, you’ll love the safety features! This boat won’t even engage the propeller blade unless the entier hull is emerged in water. That means no cut fingers, no tears, just lots of playtime outdoors!

rc boat under 100 aa wave

One of the best places to drive an RC boat is at the lake. Some RC boats are better for driving in lakes than others for a number of reasons. Since lakes are often large bodies of water it’s important that you will be able to see your boat at all times and stay in control of it.

Some features to look for when buying an RC toy for lakes are it’s size, speed, range, and battery life. Plus, it also helps if your boat is a bright color like red or yellow so you can always spot it on the water. You will also want a boat that is big enough as well for these reasons. A smaller sized boat may be harder to spot if it’s far away from you.

One great thing about driving RC boats on lakes is that you can reach some serious speeds without interfering with other people that may be on the water. Boats that go about 20-30 mph would be great for racing across the lake. You can also find an RC boat that has a bit farther of a range to allow to drive across the lake. However, you don’t want to drive too far and lose your boat. Because of this, you should find a boat with an out-of-range alarm so you will be able to know when it’s time to reel in your boat a little bit.

Also look for RC boats that have a low-battery alarm as well. While driving a boat on a lake will allow you find a boat that has a longer battery life, you won’t want the battery to run out while it’s far away from you. These features help you keep control of RC lake boat so you can have an enjoyable driving experience.

Altair AA102 – Best Remote Control Boat for Lakes

The Altair AA102 is one of our favorite new boats available on the market today and it’s the perfect boat for riding around on a lake. With the ability to reach speads of up to 25 mph, I’ve found that the AA102 can even handle some turbulance out on the water as well.

There is a ton of power available to you when you need it and the Anti-Capsize Hull System makes it so any time you flip the boat over you can right it quickly and be on your way.

Altair AA102 RC Boat Specifications

  • • 2 x 3.7V 1500mAH Li-ion Batteries

Proboat Blackjack – Best RC Speed Boat for Lakes

The Proboat Blackjack will really excel out on the open water of a lake. Featuring a brushless 2000Kv water-cooled motor and with the ability to reach speeds of up tih 30 mph, you’re going to love how this catamaran looks as it skips across the water surface.

While this boat doesn’t handle with quite the ease that the AA102 does, if you’re looking for something that can really zip I think this boat might be for you

  • • Speed: 30 mph
  • • Brushless 2000Kv water-cooled motor
  • • Spektrum STX 2.4GHz FHSS Radio System
  • • Off-set rudder system

Some RC boat drivers may have a need for speed. If this is you and you’re looking for an RC speed boat, there are certain things to look for.

The fastest RC boats will have brushless motors. A brushless RC boat will have more power as opposed to a brushed model, which means it can go faster and reach some serious speeds on the water.

Because you’ll be going faster in the water, it may be more difficult to stay in control of the boat. Because of this, an anti-capsize hull system will help you tremendously. If your boat gets flipped over in the water, its hull system will help you get it back upright and racing again.

Since fast RC boats can be more advanced, kids should be careful if they are driving them. Always be sure an adult is present when a child is driving an RC boat or wait until they are older before they start driving one. Similarly, beginners may struggle at first. RC speed boats are best for experienced RC hobbyists.

Safety is a huge thing to consider when looking at fast RC boats. That’s why we recommend that only older or experienced drivers use them. Other things to look for to help anyone driving stay safe are low-battery and out-of-range alarms to help you know when it’s time to bring the boat in. Another good tip is to always keep your RC speed boat in site to minimize your chances of losing control of it.

The fastest speed you’ll find on an RC speed boat is around 35-50 mph. These are impressive speeds to reach on the water and are great for racing. Be sure to put your fast RC boat to the test by racing up against other hobbyists and show off those driving skills.

Altair AA102 – Fastest Budget RC Speed Boat

Now, let’s be honest here, most of us are not going to have $400+ floating around out there for a new RC Boat no matter how fast it goes. And even if we did, who are we going to end up racing with?

No, for most of us, we want speed and we want it to be affordable! Enter, the AA102. This boat from Altair is sharp looking, but it can really move on the water too reaching speeds up to 20 mph at a fraction of the cost (around $80).

The AA102 also comes with two batteries that are good for around 10 minutes each, so you can really have a good time out on the water. I loved getting this thing out on the lake by my parents house. No matter how choppy the water got, I was still able to plow through.

Radio Controlled Boat FAQs

What’s the best rc boat to buy.

We consider the Traxxas Spartan the best remote control boat of 2023. However, there’s really no objective answer to this question. While the Spartan is the most powerful boat and easily one of the fastest, it’s also very expensive and may not have as much appeal to beginners, who may want a boat with self-righting capsize recovery technology.

That’s why we have broken this list of best electric RC boats into several categories – it lets you, the reader, find the boat that works best for you specifically.

How do RC boats work?

There are even a selection of RC boats for kids that make a great gift

Can RC boats go in saltwater?

Most remote control boats should not be used in saltwater. Unlike freshwater, saltwater can cause rust and other forms of damage to the delicate electronic parts inside your vehicle. However, RC boats that are designed to be used in saltwater do exist – so as long as you make sure to buy something that says it’s “saltwater safe”, you should be able to use it anywhere.

What’s the fastest RC boat?

The fastest RC boat ever recorded is the Munich SAW, which was recorded at speeds of over 300 kilometers per hour (a little under 200 mph.) However, this world record setter was a custom build and is not available for commercial sale.

The fastest RC boat that you can buy is probably the Traxxas DCB M41 Catamaran. It regularly moves at speeds of 50-60 miles per hour, and with the right battery it can even go much faster than that.

What is the best RC boat for rough water?

The Force1 Velocity, UDIRC Venom, and anything made by Traxxas are great RC boats for rough water.

Where to buy RC boats?

Expert Tips for RC Sailboat Enthusiasts

Maintenance and care guidelines for rc sailboats.

  • Cleaning : Regularly clean your RC sailboat after each sailing session. Use fresh water to rinse off any saltwater or debris that may have accumulated on the boat and sails. Avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the materials.
  • Drying : After cleaning, ensure the sailboat is thoroughly dried before storage. Moisture trapped inside the boat, spars, or on sails can lead to mold and deterioration over time.
  • Storage : Store your RC sailboat in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. You might want to use a boat stand to support the hull and prevent warping.
  • Battery Care : Take care of the boat’s battery by following the manufacturer’s charging and storage guidelines. Avoid overcharging, and if the boat won’t be used for an extended period, ensure the battery is stored partially charged.
  • Lubrication : Check the moving parts, such as the rudder and winch mechanisms, and apply appropriate lubrication to ensure smooth operation.
  • Hull Inspection : Periodically inspect the hull for any cracks, chips, or damage. Repair any issues promptly to prevent water from entering the hull.
  • Sail Inspection : Examine the sails for tears or fraying along the edges. Small tears can be repaired with sail tape, while larger damage may require professional sail repairs.

Sailing Tips for Better Performance and Enjoyment

  • Wind Awareness: Pay close attention to the wind direction and strength. Learn to read the water’s surface for wind patterns, and adjust your sailing technique accordingly.
  • Tacking and Jibing : Practice tacking (turning the bow through the wind) and jibing (turning the stern through the wind) to efficiently navigate the sailboat and maintain good speed.
  • Sail Trim : Properly adjust the sail’s angle and tension to maximize its efficiency. Experiment with different sail settings to find the optimal trim for various wind conditions.
  • Nosediving : If your RC boat is nosediving when sailing downwind , you may be overpowered. If you have a smaller rig, then you may want to change it so that you can better control your boat.
  • Avoid Obstacles : Be mindful of obstacles such as rocks, buoys, wharves, and other boats while sailing to prevent collisions that could damage your sailboat.
  • Learn from Others : Engage with the RC sailboat community, either in person or online, to learn from experienced sailors and exchange valuable tips and tricks.

Troubleshooting Common Issues and How to Address Them

  • Unresponsive Controls : If your sailboat’s controls become unresponsive, check the batteries in both the boat and the remote control. Ensure they are properly charged and installed.
  • Drifting Off Course : If your sailboat constantly drifts off course, check the rudder alignment and make sure it moves freely. Adjust the rudder angle as needed for better control.
  • Sails Not Catching Wind : If the sails are not catching wind effectively, check for any obstructions or entanglements. Adjust the sail trim and position to optimize wind capture.
  • Water Leakage : If you notice water inside the hull, inspect for cracks or loose fittings. Apply waterproof sealant to potential entry points to prevent further leakage.
  • Low Battery Warning : Pay attention to low battery warnings from your sailboat’s remote control system. Avoid pushing the battery to its limits and return to shore promptly if the battery is running low.

RC Sailboat FAQs

What should i do if my rc sailboat stops responding to the remote control.

If your RC sailboat stops responding to the remote control, follow these steps: ·        Check the batteries in both the boat and the remote control. Ensure they are properly charged and installed. ·        Verify that the remote control is within the recommended range of the sailboat. ·        Check for any obstructions or interference between the remote control and the sailboat. ·        If the issue persists, try re-pairing the remote control with the sailboat according to the manufacturer’s instructions. ·        If none of these steps resolve the problem, consult the user manual or contact the manufacturer’s customer support for further assistance.

How can I improve the speed and performance of my RC sailboat?

To enhance the speed and performance of your RC sailboat: ·        Ensure the sail is correctly trimmed to catch the most wind efficiently. ·        If you have different-sized rigs, make sure you are using the optimum rig for the conditions. ·        Optimize the weight distribution on the boat to maintain proper balance. ·        Keep the hull and sail clean and free from debris to minimize drag. ·        Practice sailing techniques such as tacking and jibing to improve maneuverability and speed.

Are there any specific tips for sailing my RC sailboat in different weather conditions, such as high winds or calm waters?

In high winds, consider using a smaller sail or adjusting the sail trim to reduce the sailboat’s speed and maintain better control. In calm waters, maximize the sail area and trim the sail for optimal performance with the little wind available. Practice tacking and jibing to efficiently navigate in various wind conditions.

What type of battery is best for my RC sailboat?

It is best to use rechargeable and high-capacity batteries with the appropriate voltage and capacity as recommended by the sailboat’s manufacturer. Lithium-ion batteries are often preferred due to their lightweight and high energy density, providing longer sailing times.

How do I troubleshoot water leakage issues in my RC sailboat’s hull?

To troubleshoot water leakage: ·        Check for cracks, chips, or damage on the hull and repair them with waterproof sealant. ·        Ensure that all access hatches and covers are tightly sealed to prevent water from entering. ·        Inspect the hull’s internal compartments for any loose fittings or openings that may allow water to seep in. ·        Dry the sailboat thoroughly after each sailing session to prevent water accumulation inside the hull.

How can I adjust the sail trim to optimize my RC sailboat’s performance under different wind conditions?

Loosening the sail and increasing the angle to the wind is suitable for light winds, while tightening the sail and reducing the angle is ideal for stronger winds. Experiment with different sail settings to find the optimal trim for various wind conditions and points of sail.

What safety precautions should I take while operating my RC sailboat near other boats or in public waterways?

Always be aware of your surroundings and avoid sailing close to other boats or crowded areas. Respect local waterway rules and regulations. Maintain control over your sailboat and be prepared to take evasive action if necessary. Consider using a brightly colored hull or sail to improve visibility.

Are there any local or online communities for RC sailboat enthusiasts where I can connect with other owners and share experiences?

Yes, there are various local sailing clubs and online forums or social media groups dedicated to RC sailboat enthusiasts. Joining these communities can provide you with valuable insights, tips, and opportunities to connect with other owners who share your passion.

Can I use my RC sailboat in saltwater, or is it better suited for freshwater sailing?

Most RC sailboats are designed for both freshwater and saltwater use. However, it is essential to rinse the sailboat thoroughly with fresh water after sailing in saltwater to prevent corrosion and damage to the components.

What is the typical lifespan of an RC sailboat?

The lifespan of an RC sailboat can vary depending on factors such as build quality, maintenance, and frequency of use. With proper care and maintenance, a well-built RC sailboat can last several years or even longer.

Are there any specific techniques or strategies for racing my RC sailboat competitively against other sailors?

Competitive RC sailboat racing requires skill, tactics, and a good understanding of sailing principles. Practice regularly to improve your sailing techniques, learn to read wind patterns, and strategize to gain a competitive edge. Joining local racing events and connecting with experienced racers can also provide valuable insights and experience.

The Choice of the Best RC Sailboat is Yours

Radio-controlled sailing boats are far from toys as they are built to be authentic miniatures (from 1/4 to 1/40 scale) of normal-sized racing boats. These smaller toy sailboat versions are popular with collectors and sailing enthusiasts but have in recent years become the focus of regular RC sailboat racing events held at an increasing number of clubs around the country. These races take place in lakes, ponds, and harbors, and can be just for fun or as competitive as the full-sized racing already is.

Unfortunately, not all of these products are available on Amazon, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t find them elsewhere… so have a look around and you might find one.

The quality construction of remote-controlled sailboats makes them strong and durable which means that a good quality small-scale boat will give you years of racing enjoyment. With the many varieties and styles already available, you can rest assured that you will be able to find something that you’re your style and budget. And with the growing popularity of the sport, who knows… maybe RC sailboat racing will one day become an Olympic-caliber sport.

Tower Hobbies is one of the leading sources for quality-built RC boats, parts and accessories. We offer one of the widest selections of RC boating equipment because there is a wide range in skill, hobby and interest levels.

It can be hard to know where to begin when buying your first RC boat and setting out for the water. It’s important to understand your current skill level, along with where you plan on setting sail, in order to find the right RC boat for your needs.

RC Boats for Beginners

There are many models and options available when starting out, so it’s important that you learn a few key areas when it comes to RC boating.

RC Boat Batteries

It’s important to understand your battery life when out on a body of water. An RC boat can and will run out of battery after an extended period of cruising on the water and it’s not fun if you have to fish out the boat yourself once it peters out. Having a second charged battery on hand can be a great way to increase your time out on the water.

RC Boat Controller Limits

In addition to battery life, it’s important to know what the range is on your model’s RC controller – especially on larger bodies of water. A beginner mistake is allowing the boat to get too far away and out of range for picking up the remote-control signal. When looking to purchase a reliable RC boat, it’s important to understand your intended application.

RC Boat Skill Level

Getting the fastest and most agile boat on the water can be fun, but it’s important to recognize your skill level. Fast RC boats can reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour! RC boats can be more difficult to control and just like real boats, the RC boat can be at risk to capsizing. For beginners, you may try to find a boat with adjustable speeds and self-righting systems that help prevent issues from lack of control skill.

Types of RC Boats

We always recommend evaluating what type of hobbyist you are before making a boat purchase? Are you looking for fun, high-speed action or would you prefer a relaxing day at sail? Tower Hobbies offers a wide variety of RC boats, including RC boat kits designed to be built and driven by you. Check out our summaries below to find the right RC boat for your hobby.

Electric RC Boats

Electric RC boats use two types of electric motors – brushed and brushless. (You can learn more about the difference between brushed and brushless motors here). Electric RC boats are easier to get up and running and they are quieter and cleaner than gas RC boats. Electric boats come in a larger variety of sizes and hobby skill levels, whereas gas-powered RC boats tend to be used by intermediate or expert hobbyists.

Gas RC Boats

Gas-powered RC boats are typically larger due to the engine size, and offer increased realism, including smoke and noise of a gas-powered engine. Gas-powered RC boat engines do require some mechanical skills for engine tuning and maintenance but are typically faster and more water-resistant than brushed and brushless electric motors if well-tuned.

RC Sailboats

Remote controlled sailboats use the natural wind for movement and the user controls the boats steering and positioning of sails with a radio transmitter. RC sailboats come in a wide variety of options, including electric motors, which can be valuable when the wind dies down or better maneuverability back to shore.

RC Scale Boats

RC scale boats are based on real world ships, boats and vessels. These are typically sold in kit form, where the user builds the RC model, adds the motor and drive train and then sails the boat on the water. RC scale boat kits require skill in ship building as the model must float (balanced) and be watertight. These projects require significant time investment but can be exceptionally rewarding once completed.

  • Controller range: Controller range indicates how far away you can control the boat and still maintain a stable signal. Boats with a longer controller range provide better maneuverability and a safer experience on the water.
  • Water type and environment: Consider where you will be using the boat. Some boats are designed for freshwater , while others are saltwater-resistant . Also, factors such as waves, wind, and currents play a significant role in a boat’s performance; choose a boat that can handle the water conditions in your area.

It’s also a good idea to look at product reviews and ratings online before purchasing an RC boat. Reputable websites like Amazon, RCNinjas, and RC Groups offer a wide range of options, and they have customer reviews that can provide real-world insights into the products. Some RC boat manufacturers also have their websites that sell high-quality boats that come with a warranty. Ensure that you select a reputable seller, ideally one that provides excellent customer support and after-sales service .

What do I need for a RC boat?

To begin, you will need an RC boat kit, which typically includes the boat hull, motor, steering servo, and radio system. You’ll also need a battery pack and charger, as well as a set of batteries for your transmitter. Other optional items to consider include a battery monitor, GPS tracker, and an onboard camera. Watch YouTube videos like ‘How to Build an RC Boat for $20’ for step-by-step guidance. Additionally, websites such as rcboatmag.com and HorizonHobby.com have a wide selection of RC boats and related accessories.

Best RC Boat Brands for Adults

When it comes to selecting the best RC boat for adults , the brand matters . Here are some of the top-rated brands that produce high-quality RC boats to consider:

Other great brands to consider include UDIRC , JJRC , and Altair . These brands offer a range of RC boats to suit every budget and preference and feature unique advantages and disadvantages. UDIRC, for instance, is known for producing extremely fast models with sleek designs and durable construction. On the other hand, JJRC boats are more budget-friendly and feature-packed , while Altair Aqua is ideal for beginners who want a straightforward and reliable RC boat to start their adventures.

It’s worth noting that some RC boat enthusiasts prefer custom builds to cater to their specific needs or want to modify their boats to improve their performance. Customization not only enhances one’s skills as an RC boat enthusiast but also allows for individual creativity and satisfaction.

What material is best for RC boats?

One material that is commonly used for RC boats is Plasticard or Styrene sheet. Although it is more commonly used for static display models, some RC boat builders and professionals also favor this material. For more information on RC boat materials, various websites and manufacturers offer a range of options such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, and wood.

Factors to Consider When Selecting the Best RC Boat for Adults

Selecting the best RC boat for adults can be overwhelming due to the vast array of available options. Here are some factors you should consider before making a purchase:

  • Budget: The cost of RC boats can range from under $50 to several hundred dollars. Before making your purchase, set a budget for yourself and stick to it.
  • Use case: Consider what you will be using the boat for? Will you be using it for speed, racing, or just casual sailing? Some boats are designed for freshwater only while others can handle saltwater too.
  • Skill level: If you’re a beginner, choose a boat that’s easy to control and operate, and grows with you as you acquire new skills. Advanced models are designed to challenge and push the boundaries of skilled operators.
  • Battery life and charging time: Check the battery life of the boat and the charging time. These features are crucial for prolonged use without interruptions.
  • Construction quality: Look out for boats with sturdy and durable construction, waterproof design, and anti-flip functions. These features ensure the boat’s longevity and safety.
  • Warranty: Always consider if the boat has a warranty. Many RC boat brands offer a warranty against defects in materials or manufacturing issues. Some brands such as Altair Aqua offer free shipping and a money-back guarantee if you’re not satisfied with your purchase.

In addition, you can check out online forums, social media groups, and RC boat review websites to obtain firsthand user experiences. Popular websites like Amazon, HobbyTron, and Banggood, offer a vast selection of the best RC boats for adults to choose from, customer reviews, and ratings. By reviewing different models, researching thoroughly, and carefully considering your needs and purchase options, you can make an informed decision on the best RC boat that will give you hours of glorious fun on the water.

How to choose a brushless motor for RC boat?

When choosing a brushless motor for your RC boat, it is important to consider the size of the motor can. For hulls up to 600mm, a 28-29mm can size motor should suffice. For hulls up to 800mm, a 36mm can size motor can be used. For larger boats up to 1200mm, a 40mm can size motor can be used as long as it’s a light brushless dedicated or ABS hull. For anything larger than that, a 56-58mm motor will be required. It is also important to consider the motor’s KV rating and the boat’s overall weight. Websites like HobbyKing and Tower Hobbies offer a variety of brushless motors specifically designed for RC boats.

RC boats are a fun and exciting way to spend time on the water, and there are plenty of options available for adults of all skill levels and budgets. Whether you’re looking for a high-speed racing boat, a large-sized patrol boat, or a budget-friendly option, there’s a model out there for you. Remember to consider your use case, skill level, budget, construction quality, and warranty before making a purchase. Don’t forget to also check out RC boat review websites and forums to get more information on the best models.

In conclusion, the best RC boats for adults are those that give you a thrilling experience on freshwater or saltwater. While there are numerous options to choose from, our guide has provided insights into top models that will satisfy your needs and preferences. Whether you’re looking to engage in a competitive race, relax, or patrol the seas, an RC boat will offer you endless fun and a dynamic experience. So, hop on board, and enjoy your next adventure on the water with your new RC boat.

Liaoning dancers to attend 'ballet oscars' in moscow.

Two dancers from Liaoning Ballet, Zhang Haidong and Sun Huixin, along with the Chinese ballet company's president and artistic director Qu Zijiao, will travel to Moscow, Russia, from June 23 to 27 and attend the award ceremony of Benois de la Danse, a prestigious international ballet prize also known as the "Ballet Oscars".

"It's a great honor to attend the event, and we will bring one of our best ballet pieces to the audiences in Moscow," said Qu, who will serve as one of the jury members this year.

"We have built up a long friendship with Russian artists and audiences with a number of cultural exchange programs and performances. This upcoming event will bring Chinese dancers to Russia, showcasing one of our ballet pieces," she added.

Zhang, a principal dancer of Liaoning Ballet, and Sun, a ballerina of the company, will perform at Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre an excerpt from the neoclassical ballet piece, Notre Dame de Paris, which is choreographed by German-Nigerian choreographer Patrick de Bana.

The ballet piece, based on Victor Hugo's novel of the same title and commissioned by Liaoning Ballet, premiered at the Liaoning Grand Theater in October.

Liaoning Ballet, one of the best-known ballet companies in China, which was founded in 1980, has frequently performed in Russia and gained a wide fan base, according to Qu.

From Feb 20 to 25, it presented two of its productions — Sundial, choreographed by Ao Dingwen, a principal dancer of Liaoning Ballet, and Notre Dame de Parisin Vladivostok, a seaport in southeastern Russia.

"Tickets for our five shows in Russia (in February) sold out fast. We not only staged a piece by a Western choreographer but also an original Chinese ballet work, and both received warm feedback from the audiences," Qu said.

"We want to have more opportunities to showcase Chinese ballet in Russia," she added.

The Benois de la Danse prizes are awarded annually for the most prominent accomplishments in the ballet world during the previous year. The competition was launched in 1991 in Moscow by the International Dance Association — now called the International Choreography Union — and the awards were presented for the first time the same year on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre.

Every year, the event gathers an international jury comprising prominent choreographers, heads of the largest ballet companies, outstanding dancers and famous ballet teachers. The jury members make nominations and, after conducting assessments through the year, determine the winners.

Last year, Qiu Yunting, one of the principal dancers of the National Ballet of China, won the Best Female Dancer award at the Benois de la Danse.

Fresh Off Defeat in Speaker Fight, Greene Relishes the Chaos She Wrought

The hard-right congresswoman from Georgia failed spectacularly in her bid to depose Speaker Mike Johnson. But for a figure who sees her power in creating chaos, the loss was the point.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene walks out in front of the U.S. Capitol building. She is wearing a black dress.

By Annie Karni

Reporting from the Capitol

As Republicans and Democrats booed her loudly Wednesday when she called a snap vote on the House floor to oust Speaker Mike Johnson, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, Republican of Georgia, paused briefly to narrate the drama to viewers back home.

“This is the uniparty, for the American people watching,” Ms. Greene sneered, peering over her glasses at her colleagues like a disappointed schoolteacher.

Ms. Greene went on to take her shot at Mr. Johnson and miss, an outcome that she knew was a certainty. The vote to kill her attempt to remove him was an overwhelming 359 to 43 — with all but 39 Democrats joining Republicans to block her and rescue the G.O.P. speaker.

The move buoyed Mr. Johnson, confirming his status as the leader of an unlikely bipartisan governing coalition in the House that Ms. Greene considers the ultimate enemy. And it isolated Ms. Greene on Capitol Hill, putting her back where she was when she arrived in Washington three years ago: a provocateur and subject of derision who appears to revel in causing huge headaches for her colleagues .

“Hopefully, this is the end of the personality politics and the frivolous character assassination that has defined the 118th Congress,” Mr. Johnson said after the vote.

The word “hopefully” was doing a lot of work.

If Ms. Greene’s goals in Congress were to chair a powerful committee or to build up political capital to drive major policy initiatives — or if she had to worry about drawing a political challenger — this all would constitute a major problem for her. But those have never been the incentives that have driven the gentle lady from Georgia, whose congressional career has been defined by delighting her base and stoking anger on the right more than legislative achievement or political pragmatism.

Ms. Greene hails from a blood-red district where 68 percent of voters supported former President Donald J. Trump in 2020, allowing her to operate with relative impunity in Congress, without fear of a challenge from the right or left. She has further insulated herself politically by donating vast sums to electing Republicans to the House, quietly backing her colleagues even as she picks fights many of them would rather avoid.

So even as it became clear over the last week that she would fail in her quest to depose the speaker, Ms. Greene saw an upside in insisting on the exercise. A vote would offer concrete proof that Mr. Johnson had made himself beholden to the Democrats — a dynamic that has been clear for months as he has partnered with them to pass a host of major bills , including one to send aid to Ukraine — and that many Republicans were going along with what she regarded as a betrayal of the party’s principles.

“I’m thrilled with the whole thing,” Ms. Greene said in an interview on Thursday, sounding upbeat after her spectacular defeat. “Even the booing from both sides — I fully expected it.”

Even if Ms. Greene felt defeated or isolated, she would be exceedingly unlikely to acknowledge it. Her power derives in large part from her irrepressible attitude and her Trumpian instinct to double down rather than retreat in the face of failure.

On Wednesday evening, center-leaning Republicans tried to create as much distance from her as they could, fearful that association with her theatrics would alienate voters in their districts turned off by the seemingly endless chaos in the House.

“All she wants is attention,” said Representative Carlos Gimenez, Republican of Florida. “Today, we shut her down. Our entire conference said, ‘Enough is enough — we don’t need to hear from her anymore.’”

Representative Mike Lawler, Republican of New York, referred repeatedly to Ms. Greene as “Moscow Marjorie” as she dangled her threat to oust the speaker. “Moscow Marjorie has clearly gone off the deep end,” he said on Wednesday.

But if Ms. Greene is now on an island in her party, she hasn’t been there long, and there’s likely a rescue boat en route to bring her back to the mainland. Shortly after arriving in Congress in 2021, she was stripped of her committee assignments by Democrats — 11 Republicans voted with them — and was treated like a pariah by many in Washington. But over the past two years, Ms. Greene has been elevated by her party’s leaders, valued as a top adviser by former Speaker Kevin McCarthy , leaned on as a helpful fund-raiser by vulnerable Republicans and publicly hailed as a dream teammate by center-leaning lawmakers in her party.

“Marjorie Taylor Greene, she is so kind,” Representative Jen Kiggans, a vulnerable Republican from Virginia, said at an event last year before the ouster attempt. “She has been very nice to me.” Of Ms. Greene and other bomb throwers in her party, she said, “I have nothing bad or, you know, different to say about any of these people. They’re on my team, right? They are my teammates. We all want the same things.”

Mr. Trump, who had privately prodded Ms. Greene to move on rather than pursue her vendetta against the speaker and maneuvered to save Mr. Johnson, made it clear she remains on his good side despite ignoring his advice. He waited until the House had turned back her ouster attempt on Wednesday night to post a message on social media urging Republicans to block it. And before he praised Mr. Johnson, he wrote: “I absolutely love Marjorie Taylor Greene. She’s got Spirit, she’s got Fight, and I believe she’ll be around, and on our side, for a long time to come.”

If that’s what abandonment by her party looks like, who needs an embrace?

“He’s not mad at me at all,” Ms. Greene said Thursday of the former president. “I talked to him plenty. He’s proud of me.”

Democrats, for their part, aren’t willing to let Republicans run away from Ms. Greene, the most famous Republican in the House, so quickly.

Missy Cotter Smasal, a Democrat challenging Ms. Kiggans in coastal Virginia, said that “when voters hear her comments calling Marjorie Taylor Greene a teammate, they are astounded and disgusted.”

Even though Ms. Kiggans voted to kill Ms. Greene’s effort on Wednesday night, Ms. Smasal moved quickly to try to use the mutiny attempt as a cudgel against her G.O.P. opponent.

“Jen Kiggans in office enables the chaos of Marjorie Taylor Greene,” she said on Thursday. A spokeswoman for Ms. Kiggans did not respond to a request for comment.

Justin Chermol, a spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said: “When the Republicans lose their majority in November, it will be because the so-called moderates let Marjorie Taylor Greene be their party mascot.”

And Representative Hakeem Jeffries, Democrat of New York and the minority leader, wasted little time in sending out a fund-raising email detailing how Ms. Greene “threatened to throw Congress further into chaos, crisis and confusion.”

Ms. Greene laughed off the idea that her actions would help elect Democrats this fall — the argument that everyone from Mr. Trump to Representative Jim Jordan, Republican of Ohio, had used as they tried to discourage her from moving to oust the speaker.

“Republicans will turn out in droves for Trump,” she said. Using an acronym for “Republican in name only,” she continued, “Then they’re going to move down and see that RINO Republican they’ve elected time and time again — who didn’t impeach Biden, who didn’t do anything on the border — they’re going to see that guy and they’re going to cuss him under their breath and skip his name.”

Ms. Greene said Thursday that she didn’t care much whether she was isolated or not.

“If I’m on an island,” she said, “I’m doing exactly what I came here for.”

“I’m very comfortable ebbing and flowing with my party,” she added. “I can be their biggest cheerleader, supporter, defender, donor. I’ve given something like half a million to the National Republican Campaign Committee. I am a team player.”

Over the past two election cycles, Ms. Greene has sent a total of $725,000 to the party’s campaign arm, according to the nonpartisan campaign finance research group Open Secrets, a vast sum for a rank-and-file member like Ms. Greene.

In 2023, Ms. Greene gave the maximum contribution in more than a dozen vulnerable House Republican races, including to colleagues who represent districts President Biden won in 2020, such as Representatives David Schweikert of Arizona and Mike Garcia of California.

On Thursday morning, Ms. Greene made it clear she wasn’t finished tormenting Mr. Johnson just yet.

“Speaker Johnson is the Uniparty Speaker of the House!” she crowed on social media.
