A timeless design and high-quality construction make the 40 Mariner Orient Sedan an instant classic. Constructed with a heavy solid fiberglass hull capable of long-range cruising, the 40 Mariner Orient Sedan is built to transport its passengers to their destination safely and comfortably. A covered walk-around and high gunnels allow for safe passageway around the decks of the vessel. A spacious flybridge is ideal for entertaining guests, and functions as a second helm. There is sleeping room for six with two staterooms and a convertible dinette. Designed for long distance cruising, the interior is very spacious and has plentiful storage allowing for self-sufficient long-range cruising. Her easy-to-maintain Cummins 220hp engine is very miserly running 8 - 9 knots at 2.1gph, yielding 4nmpg. She was built in the same shipyards as the well known high end trawlers from the far east, and her craftsmanship shows it. The interior teak is of the highest quality you will ever see. Her electrics and plumbing meet the highest standards. You will be more than impressed!

Entering into the spacious Salon from the aft covered deck area you will find a very open and airy Salon with Galley up and richly appointed teak joinery and craftsmanship. Immediately to the port is the washer/dryer enclosed in a teak cabinet. There is an L-Shaped settee to port and a sofa opposite it on starboard. Galley next forward to port with a double stainless steel sink, 3-burner princess electric stove with Oven, NovaCool Side-by-side refrigerator/freezer and lots of counter space. Opposite the Galley is the Helm station with a slide out bar area under the helm seat. The Helm station also has a starboard side sliding door for easy access to the starboard side deck. Forward and down the passageway a few steps you will find a spacious Head with an electric toilet and separate Shower to starboard. To port is a Guest Stateroom with over and under single bunk beds. There is a cabinet with drawer under it to the left and to the right is a hanging locker. Also storage under the lower Berth. Forward is the Master Stateroom with a center-line Island Queen Berth with custom bedding, a hanging locker to port, a Vanity with Mirror to starboard and drawers under berth. Anchor Locker is forward at headboard.

Apres-Sail is a very well-kept 40' Mariner Orient sedan trawler.  Built overseas, the Mariner Orient was constructed with a heavy, solid fiberglass hull which provides safe and comfortable long-range cruising. The "Europa" styling features a wide, covered walk-around as well as high gunnels, for safe maneuvering around the deck. The covered cockpit is the perfect place to relax at the end of a long day of cruising, while at anchor, or docked at your favorite marina. The teak interior highlights both the materials used and craftsmanship of this beautiful vessel. 

The current owners purchased this vessel in 2009, moved her from Sarasota, FL in 2010, and have thoroughly enjoyed cruising in the US, Canada, and the Bahamas. Having just returned from several years in the waters of the Bahamas, she is turn-key ready for her new owners, and is in very nice condition.

Main description, 2005 mariner 40 orient sedan trawler walk through.

The aft covered cockpit of Apres-Sail has a sliding door that provides access to the salon.  The inside helm is forward to starboard, with a door leading to the covered walk-around deck. The galley is on the same level, across from the inside helm. The entire interior of the vessel has a teak and holly sole, in very good condition.

The sleeping accommodations are forward, three steps down. The large head is to starboard, across from the guest stateroom to port. The master stateroom is forward.

2005 Mariner 40 Orient Sedan Trawler Cockpit, Hull

The 7' x 13' covered cockpit of Apres-Sail has a stern door to the fiberglass swim platform, which has a swim ladder. There are molded, forward facing seats with storage and cushions in the cockpit, as well as a hot/cold fresh water shower. The lazarette is accessible from the center deck hatch, which has dual hydraulic pistons. An Engel refrigerator (or freezer) box is located in the lazarette, and conveys with the vessel. The cockpit is large enough for a table and chairs for outside dining. The deck is painted grey non-skid.  Apres-Sail has a full navy blue cockpit enclosure with both eisenglass and screens. Snap-on canvas doors with eisenglass lead to the wide sidewalks. A tan sun shade fits across the stern of the cockpit. A covered stainless steel ladder with teak steps leads to the flybridge, to port. A teak and etched glass sliding door leads into the salon.

The hull of the 40' Mariner Orient is solid fiberglass, with internal grid molding, and an Interlocks barrier coat. The decks are painted light grey awl-grip non-skid. The wide, covered sidewalks with high gunnels provide safe and easy access to the foredeck. The cap rail is stained teak, with a high gloss finish in very good condition. The stanchions are 1.25" stainless steel. There are six 13" stainless steel hawse pipes with cleats. All of the opening portlights are stainless steel.

The foredeck features a bow pulpit with anchor locker, with a natural teak rack over the Simpson Lawrence anchor windlass with foot controls. A natural teak fender board is stored at the bow pulpit. The ground tackle includes: (1) 45# Mantus anchor, (1) FX-23 Fortress anchor, (1) 33# CQR anchor, and 250' of rode with 40' of chain and 210' of line. A hatch from the forward master stateroom opens to the foredeck. A deck wash-down system is at the bow. There is also an extra 40’ chain and 250’ rode plus a coil of another 250’ rode.

The flybridge is reached by a stainless steel ladder, with teak steps, from the cockpit. A hatch covers the steps. The open area of the flybridge features: a lowerable mast, an electric tender hoist with remote, crane storage, fender racks, and a rail mounted propane grill.

The forward area of the flybridge has a full navy blue enclosure with eisenglass, and features: two Todd navigation chairs, built in settees to starboard and port with storage, and a full helm station. There is a free-standing chemical toilet (never used) which conveys with the vessel. A free-standing Whirlpool Stainless Steel refrigerator/freezer conveys with the vessel, which can be used on the flybridge, since there is an available electrical outlet.   The acrylic windshield on the flybridge needs sections replaced.

SALON AND INSIDE HELM

The salon on Apres-Sail is entered from the cockpit through a teak sliding door, with a double palm tree etched window. An integrated magnetic screen door allows for fresh-air ventilation. There are two neutral colored leatherette free-standing chairs, with a small table, to starboard. A large cabinet is to port; it currently provides storage, but is plumbed for a washer/dryer unit. The Insignia Roku TV is atop this cabinet. The L-shaped dinette is to port. The neutral leatherette fabric was replaced in 2012 and is in very good condition; there is storage beneath the cushions. A high/low table with folding leaves is available for dining. The dinette converts to a 4.5' x 6' berth.

The teak and holly sole, which is throughout the entire vessel, is in very good condition. The windows on both sides of the salon slide open, and are equipped with screens. Custom Hunter Douglass silhouette blinds cover the windows. There are teak hand holds overhead.

Access to the engine room is through the sole of the salon.

The inside helm is to starboard forward of a cabinet holding the refrigerator/freezer; the top of the cabinet is perfect for charts, and opens to storage. A liquor/glass cabinet drawer slides out from under the helm seat. The cushion for the helm seat matches the dinette. A foot rest folds up for convenience. A sliding teak door, with a double jumping dolphin etched glass window leads to the starboard deck.

There are three large windows forward which provide good visibility when piloting from the inside helm. The center window opens for ventilation. There are privacy covers for all three windows. The large area beneath the windows is good for additional storage.

The electric panel is on the wall opposite the helm station. The vessel is outfitted with Bose speakers, and the lighting is LED throughout.

The galley on Apres-Sail is to port, forward of the dinette, and has a U-shape design. The side-by-side Nova Kool refrigerator and freezer are to starboard, across from the main galley area, aft of the interior helm seat. The galley features a double stainless steel sink, and good counter space, with a mottled blue easy-to-clean surface. The primary cooking is done on the Cuisinart double burner induction cooktop (with induction cookware included). There is also a West Bend microwave oven and a large Oster toaster oven at eye level on the shelf below the windshield.

Apres-Sail has great galley storage, which includes: a storage cabinet beneath the cooktop with slide-out stainless steel storage racks, cabinets above the sink with louvered doors, deep in-counter storage next to the sink, a cabinet under the sink with a louvered door, a counter-top spice rack, a wall-mounted mug rack, drawers beneath the microwave and oven, and three additional drawers over a louvered cabinet.

MASTER STATEROOM

The companionway on Apres-Sail is down three steps, which feature additional storage, from the galley. The master stateroom is forward. It features a centerline queen berth. The lower two steps on either side of the berth are the same teak and holly as the sole, but the upper step is padded. There are matching cedar-lined, lighted lockers to both starboard and port with louvered doors, as well as built-in storage with sliding doors, and open/book shelves, as well as four drawers under the berth. There are two reading lights, as well as two overhead LED lights. The two curtained portlights open for fresh air. The headboard cabinet provides access to the anchor locker. There is a hatch over the berth that opens to the foredeck.

GUEST STATEROOM

A comfortable guest stateroom is amidships, to port on Apres-Sail. It features a double berth with an open shelf above it for more storage. A cedar-lined lighted locker with a louvered door, drawers under the berth, a wall mounted book rack, and three additional drawers provide even more storage. A Dyson DC44 Animal vacuum is mounted on the wall, which will convey with the vessel. Two curtained opening portlights, as well as two reading lights and two overhead LED lights provide plenty of lighting.

The single head on Apres-Sail is to starboard, across from the guest stateroom. It features an electric head, a mirror, good storage, a large vanity with a stainless steel bowl sink, and a separate stall shower with a seat, two teak storage racks and a custom folding door. There is an access panel to the back of the interior helm, which is protected by a shower curtain. There are two curtained opening portlights for fresh-air and additional ventilation. There is plenty of LED lighting.

All of the teak doors in the interior of Apres-Sail have curved tops and louvered bottoms, which really are a nice decorative feature.

The Hull is constructed of single-planked wood with an external ballasted keel. The planks are secured with copper rivets. The deck is constructed of fiber-reinforced plastic over plywood. The Seller reports the sails to be either Crisp or in good condition, and the Mizzen has had some recent repairs. The Motor in this Mariner looks rough on the outside, but it's reported to run very well. Stock #397197 Great coastal cruiser or liveaboard for the the anxious shipwright looking for a classic sailing vessel This William Garden Designed Mariner 40 is an awesome wood-planked Ketch that was sailed a lot by its previous owners. At just over 40' in length, the Mariner has a forward stateroom with V-berth and a hanging locker. Just aft of that is the head with toilet, sink, and shower, complete with 2 entrances. The Mariner originally came with a 120-gallon water capacity. In the Salon, the U-shaped dinette converts to nice sized berth for two, and the settee opposite pulls out for a quarter berth. There's also a quarter berth aft to starboard to give you a sleeping capacity of six. Another Hanging locker is under the Nav station. The Galley is well equipped with a propane stove/oven, microwave, and refrigerator. The engine onboard is the Perkins 50-hp diesel. Up on deck, you'll find all lines run well to the cockpit, so you can single-hand this boat if need be. The sail inventory consists of the Main, Jib, Mizzen, Mizzen Staysail, and spinnaker. DESCRIPTION: This listing is for a 1960s Alumacraft Fishing Boat... with a whole lot of EXTRAS. I will try to cover all items including description below, but will start by saying I have not had this boat on the water myself. Bought it to use for spreading my Dad's ashes over his favorite fishing pond, but was able to get that done with a seaplane so now the boat is a project I can't seem to get time to complete. Sure that it will need a little work to get everything going, my plan was to clean the Aluminum to new, repaint what was needed and get the main boat motor running. Right now I will sell at a reduced price and YOU can have that fun and save a few bucks. If I take the time to put my labor into it the price will go up significantly. You are getting a whole boat package... don't fall asleep on this one, it will go quickly. Of course, this is a LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. I took a little time to compare similar packages online, both at eBay & "other" online sales venues. Didn't really find any with this much included but I think the price is fair based on what I saw. If you look up individual prices for a similar sized Aluminum Fishing boat, a 16' Tilt Bed Boat Trailer, a 9.9 HP Mariner OB, Minn Kota Turbo Trolling Motor, and throw in another couple hundred for life jackets, anchors, oars etc. I think you will feel the same way. This is a great package, just clean it up and start fishing. I can sell it for less, but the 9.9 HP Mariner, will be swapped for a smaller sized 3.5 HP ESKA (JC Penney) Outboard... still better than rowing, but a bit slower than that Mariner. I will reduce by $300 with that motor.. just mention you want the 3.5 HP Motor and you get $300 off. That motor cranks, everything moves, waiting for you to add gas and start. If you want to buy that motor in addition to the whole package then let's talk... and I have more trolling motors. THIS ITEM IS BEING SOLD AS IS and LOCAL PICKUP ONLY so PLEASE consider that when buying it. We can hold this for a few weeks but expect that the new owner will be picking this up within a week of purchase. It is also for sale locally so I may remove this listing at anytime if it sells locally.. thanks and here's the info. *** 1967 ALUMACRAFT ROW / FISHING BOAT *** The registration on the boat says 1967 AlumaCraft and there are plenty of original manufacturer plaques inside the boat to show that. I will include TWO new Alumacraft vinyl side labels that are close to the originals ones that are long gone now. These are normally placed at the rear of the boat on each side. The boat looks good overall, and the motor mount is still strong & sound but could use some new paint. The boat width is 54" at the widest point and runs that width for most of the length. The overall length from bow to stern is 14'. Boat Name is "FISH IN" right now, but make it your own. It has 3 nice sized seats, one smaller forward seat, DOUBLE mounts for oars (it is a rowboat) and I will throw in all of the cushions and PFDs shown. You get it all, tow vehicle and gas can not included. The blue trim paint is chipping in most places and my "plan" was to either repaint or remove. I also found a nice Aluminum "deOxidizer" online that can restore this boat to shiny new. Overall the boat is OK, but a little work and this survivor will look good as new. If I don't sell before my projects run out this year then I will restore it myself, and of course the price will be adjusted as well. Your chance to get it at a great price and have some fun right now. Note: I also have the rear drain plug for this rowboat as well, those normally get lost along the way. This allows you to store and still drain rainwater away, which is why it's not in the boat. *** 2006 TILT TRAILER *** The registration states this is a 2006 homemade trailer, but I doubt that. It is a tilt bed, has some added PVC guide poles and comes with a 1 7/8" ball hitch. Trailer looks to fit this boat well, and has a ratchet crank for help in loading as well as lighting that does work. The plug for the lighting is a 4 prong inline style and has been wrapped with tape to protect the wires I did try the tilt bed, and that does work fine, with a chain lock. The overall length of the Trailer is 16', tires are a good, ready to tow home and start going to your favorite fishing hole. Crank winch works well, both ways... and the support from wheel is just as nice. GREAT TRAILER!! *** 9.9 HP MARINER (Mercury / Yamaha) OUTBOARD BOAT MOTOR *** I can only say that this came with the boat, seems to have plenty of compression when I pull the cord. I do have a manual for the motor , and a few extra carb parts that were in a box of accessories when I got this boat. The motor appears to be from the late 1980s or early 1990s based on what I see online about this manufacturer. I do not have any gas cans, haven't tried to start it so leave that all up to you. Original Maintenance Manual Included as well as some parts still in original packages. Appears this motor is owned by Mercury but may also use Yamaha OB parts as well. There is a FULL ILLUSTRATED Maintenance & Repair Manual that was ordered directly from the supplier included, as well, shows all major repairs, specifications, tune-up, and includes detailed exploded Parts Views & Catalog Numbers. Folks, This is a nice highly desirable boat motor and nothing makes me believe this one won't start right up given fresh gas and a little cleanup. This motor is clean inside, hope the pictures show that. NOTE: There is a substitute Outboard option to lower the price a bit if you like. for $300 off the final price you can take a 1970s ESKA 3.5 hp Outboard, most likely the Seacruiser model but this one is branded as a JC Penney motor. The motor gas tank smells ok, it is empty, the hand crank turns, all knobs work fine, would most likely start if it had fuel. THE LAST TWO PICTURES ARE FOR THIS OPTIONAL MOTOR but will not be included if you take the 9.9 Mariner OB Motor in the standard package. *** MINNKOTA TURBO 90T TROLLING MOTOR *** This one is Model Number 90T which designates the higher thrust package. This one has 40# of Thrust and features the larger "weedless" design propeller package. This one is battery operated and works well. I did try this with a battery and worked fine, in BOTH directions (forward / reverse) from slow to fastest speeds. Mounting Clamps are good, nice addition to this package. Motor seems strong running & quiet, runs well... needs a little cleanup from storage. So you have 10hp to get you there and this little gem to start trolling for the big ones. *** ADDITIONAL PACKAGE ACCESSORIES *** I have 3 Orange Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) included that came with the boat, also 2 floating seat cushions that are in great shape. There are two oars but the oar holders that drop in the boat mounts are not there. Oars are wood and Featherlight brand with nice grips added, they and in decent shape but older. There is a bunch of rope, and TWO nice boat ANCHORS included as well, one is the locking type, the other is a round one that is for sandy bottom use. It's a pretty nice package, I've cleaned out what I could here and you get everything boating related... enjoy. Rig and Sails

Auxilary power, accomodations, calculations.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Classic hull speed formula:

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Ballast / Displacement * 100

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
• LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam 1.33 )

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds
• LOA: Length overall in feet
• Beam: Width of boat at the widest point in feet

Capsize Screening Formula

This formula attempts to indicate whether a given boat might be too wide and light to readily right itself after being overturned in extreme conditions. Read more.

CSV = Beam ÷ ³√(D / 64)

The earliest version of the MARINER 40 was built of wood in 1965 and then later in fiberglass with wood decks and superstructure. Far East Yachts built the boats, first in Japan (95 hulls) and then in California. Later the molds for the MARINER 40 and MARINER 36 were purchased by another company and construction continued for some years at the Ta-Yang yard in Taiwan.
