BARACUDA VALLETTA (ex. BARRACUDA) is a 50,00m (164’) Perini Navi sailing yacht launched in 2008. Sailing yacht BARACUDA VALLETTA is an aluminium ketch which was the 46th vessel, perfect for charters in the Eastern Mediterranean. She was designed by Perini's in-house naval architects teamed with New Zealander Ron Holland. She was refitted in 2013 and some updates were in 2019, 2020 and 2022.
BARACUDA VALLETTA'S MAIN FEATURES: ~ State-of-the-art Sailing System ~ Swim Platform for Easy Access to the Water ~ Brightly Lit Minimalistic Interior ~ Accommodation for 10 Guests ~ Professional Crew of 9
The luxury sailing yacht BARACUDA VALLETTA features recognisable Perini Navi trademarks including her deckhouse lines, with curved windows and long flying bridge. Her aluminium hull, tapering and deep semi-compensated rudder, extended waterline, and lead ballasted swinging keel, makes this superyacht the latest evolution of the successful 50-meter series. This ketch also makes a strong visual impact primarily by the colour of the hull which is metallic grey with shades of gold and the sails which come in flaming purple. This contemporary appeal is also echoed in the portholes, which are an unusual rectangular shape.
The Superyacht BARACUDA VALLETTA features many innovations including a canting keel that changes from a 4m draft with her keel up to a 9.7 m draft with her keel down. The transom door can be cleverly opened almost entirely to transform into a large platform for both tender launching and swim access. The hydraulically operated swimming platform can be submerged 8 inches below the water's surface accessed by guests via a staircase on the aft deck.
Sail boat BARACUDA VALLETTA’s main deck is one level and is 22 meters in length from the aft sunken cockpit throughout the inner wheelhouse. The extended windows provide natural lighting and panoramic view. The main deck is conceived as open living space, with no partitions, with the aim to keep a much clearer, unencumbered visual field than is conventionally the case on sailing yachts of this type. The partial central wall in the salon was chosen not only for the subtle beauty of its colour and texture but also for the way it serves to dematerialize the central stair volume. The master suite and 4 guests cabins are all located on the lower deck lower deck. S/Y BARACUA features interior design by British architect John Pawson, the guru of the modern minimalism. The style and project philosophy are extreme simplicity and clean lines with concepts of light, space and proportion.
Luxury Perini Navi sailing yacht BARACUDA VALLETTA has a state-of-the-art sailing system with aluminium, ketch rigged masts that are 56.7 and 42.9 meters from the DWL. Perini also designed, engineered and manufactured the carbon fibre electric in-boom furling system and the captive reel winches that handle a sail plan of 1,418 square meters, which consists of the main and mizzen sails plus genoa and blade jib.

PRESENTING PERINI NAVI YACHT
Sailing yacht BARACUDA VALLETTA is a 50-meter aluminum ketch, features many important project innovations. Her retracting keel passes from 4 meters to 9.7 meters and the transom door can be almost entirely opened up and transformed into a large swimming platform. Boasting a Ron Holland design, the 50-meter sailing yacht is already known for her excellent sailing performance. This Perini Navi built mega yacht also makes a strong visual impact on several fronts, primarily by the color of the hull which is metallic gray with shades of gold, the unusual rectangular windows, and the sails which come in flaming purple.
Interiors of the superyacht BARACUDA VALLETTA are based on extreme simplicity and clear lines. Conceived British architect John Pawson, the guru of modern minimalism, interior design is based on the concepts of light, space, and proportion. Indeed, the yacht’s volume and use of space amaze Perini Navi yacht charter enthusiasts.
Upon entering the main saloon, it is clear than Pawson has achieved his goal of stunning yet subtle effects. The main deck is an open living space. It has a central staircase and no partitions. The design aim is for a much clearer and unencumbered vision. Subsequently the case on sailboats as opposed to motor yachts. The walls and bulkheads are of white lacquer and parchment. Specifically, the latter chose not only for the subtle beauty of its color and texture. In addition, for the way it serves to soften or “dematerialize” the central stair volume. Pawson’s architectural background is evident in the spatial fluidity that links the wheelhouse, the main saloon, and the aft cockpit.
Her aluminum hull has aggressive, aerodynamic lines. They are an unconventional color. In specific, metallic gray with shades of gold. In addition, this combines with the silvery reflections of the superstructure. This contemporary appeal echoes in the portholes. Specifically, in an unusual rectangular shape.
The two aluminum masts are shades of silver. The main mast is 56.7 meters or 186 feet. Her mizzen mast is 42.9 meters or 140 feet. In addition, the carbon fiber boom. All 3 designs built by Perini Navi’s Mast Division team. The 1,416m² (15,241 square foot) sail area is a flaming purple. Further, a chromatic effect with a strong visual impact.

Valletta Chartering a yacht in Malta
The Grand Harbour at Valletta is the mooring of choice since it is deep enough for luxury yachts and accommodates tankers of all shapes and sizes. The neighbouring port of Sliema is equally suitable for mooring but the historical and cultural charm of Valletta itself is immediately apparent before landing.
More Details
The Italian pink ornate limestone buildings dominate the inner harbour in contrast to the fortress granite of the outer harbour. Valletta's bastions have obviously had their uses down the ages and we should not be surprised to find that it is common practice at 12 noon for the battery of cannons to discharge a welcoming salute each day. The historical side of some of the port's quaint tradition harps back to the arrival in 1565 of the "Knights Hospitallers of the Order of Saint John." They ended up in Malta after being chased around the Mediterranean by the Turks. By defending the city during the so-called "Great Siege" and for seeing off a vastly superior Turkish armada, they were rewarded by the Emperor Charles V, with life tenure of the Maltese islands. The deal was that the Emperor required in return, various religious devotions and a yearly rent of one falcon . He also funded the islands as "a last castle of Christianity"and allowed Jean de la Valletta, the Grandmaster, to build much of the fortress we see today. During World War II the "Luftwaffe" tried to bomb Malta into submission, but anti-aircraft guns and the Royal Navy's "Force K" based in the Grand Harbour together with the RAF helped to defend the island. This island base was a major source of harassment to German and Italian forces in North Africa, although at the height of the bombing in 1942 the docks were very heavily damaged. There were also many civilians injured but few serious casualties. In token of their stalwart defence the people of Malta were awarded "The George Cross" and it is this history that makes Malta such a tourist attraction. For the yachting enthusiast who goes ashore at Valletta the two "must-see" places are the UNESCO designated "Hypogeum Ruins" dating back to 3600 BC (tickets from the National Museum in Valletta) and also the magnificent Renaissance Cathedral of Saint John which is home to two Caravaggio masterpieces "The Beheading of St. John the Baptist" and the full length oil painting of "St. Jerome." Elsewhere in Valletta one can explore the "Casa Rocca Piccola" where paintings, photographs and antique furniture recalls 400 years of Maltese nobility. In addition the Republic Square open air restaurants surrounding the imposing statue of Queen Victoria have nearby the 18th Century Bibliotheca's reading room which provides the historian with an entire history of the Knight's of St. John and Charles V's Donation deal. In Old Theatre Street the naval bars and theatres are a source of nightlife entertainment and are crowded with tourists in the Carnival season. In Valletta the lively carnival starts next year on 12th February 2010 and can be expected to continue as part of the "run-in" to the Christian season of Lent. In fact, both in Valletta, Floriana and in Gozo it is a colourful carnival to enjoy oneself before the Lenten fast. The events are free of charge and end with a grand firework display.

Valletta, malta.
A UNESCO World Heritage site, Valletta is a diminutive city packed with history. Sailing into the harbor is an experience in itself, as the dome and spire of competing churches rise above the cluster of limestone façades and formidable ramparts. Built by the Knights of St. John in the 16th century, Valletta is architecturally Baroque in character, with Mannerist, neoclassical and modern elements as well. It’s easy to navigate the city on foot and take in sights such as the City Gate, National Museum of Archaeology, Grand Master’s Palace and St. John's Co-Cathedral, which houses the famous Caravaggio painting The Beheading of St. John . Gardens are plenty, including the Upper Barrakka, which offer panoramic views. In the Maltese countryside, megalithic temples reveal the island’s prehistoric past, and the surrounding waters are also worth exploring, particularly the gorgeous sea caverns of the Blue Grotto.

Yachting in Malta: the sights of Valletta
Malta is a small country located on the islands of the Maltese archipelago (the largest of which are Malta and Gozo). There are no natural lakes and rivers on the islands. The large harbor, which can accommodate more than 250 cruise ships, has a reputation as one of the safest natural harbors in the Mediterranean. This harbor is home to the capital of the Maltese state, Valletta, and reflects the great legacy of this small island nation's maritime history spanning over 7,000 years.
The Maltese capital was named after the Grand Master of the Order, Jean Parisot de la Valletta, who laid the foundation stone for the first building of the city at Cape Sciberras. The earlier capital, the city of Mdina in the center of the island, was abandoned by the Knights of Malta and the local nobility began to move to the new capital.
The Mediterranean basin has long been at the crossroads of trade routes and wars. Loaded with various goods, galleys and ships with the military passed it far and wide, and with the arrival of the Phoenicians, Malta began to play the role of the main port of the region. Today the harbors of this state are filled with commercial and cruise ships, as well as yachts.
Experienced sailors from 2yachts note that the rugged coastline allows owners and passengers of yachts to swim or organize a private lunch here. In total, the islands have more than 700 m of berths dedicated exclusively to yachts. Familiarity with the cultural and historical heritage of the islands usually begins with Valletta. The set of attractions in Malta is so great that in terms of their number, this country can be compared with some European state of average size. And this despite the fact that the area of the Maltese archipelago is not only smaller than the country, but even a large metropolis, for example, Kazan.
Valletta was founded in 1566 in honor of the victory over the Turks, and since then the city has grown towards the south and west. Most of the city's buildings were built in 10 years and have survived unchanged.
Valletta can be explored on foot in a couple of days and is one of the smallest capitals in Europe. Interest here is, as already mentioned, the old port and, of course, magnificent examples of medieval architecture. The peculiarity of Valletta is that the streets in the old part of the city are always parallel or perpendicular to each other, as well as the fact that there are practically no buildings of the late centuries in the city. Despite its modest size (only 0.8 sq. Km), life in the city is in full swing, and there are always a lot of young people here.
Among the attractions recommended to visit in Valletta:
- The majestic Cathedral of St. John (St. John's Co-Cathedral) with a very beautiful interior decoration;
- Fort St Elmo - National War Museum (Fort St Elmo - National War Museum), which offers a wonderful panoramic view of the buildings and the sea;
- Palace of the Grand Master (Grandmaster's Palace) of the late 16th in construction;
- Temple of the Virgin of Mount Carmel in the 16th century (in the 20th century it was rebuilt);
- The picturesque Valletta Waterfront is a great place to stroll;
- Il-Berga ta 'Kastilja (Castilian Compound), built in the Baroque style;
- Lascaris War Rooms - an underground complex of tunnels and rooms that housed the command and control headquarters during World War II;
- A 17th century building on Torgovaya Street - Auberge d'Italie (now the Ministry of Tourism of Malta is located here);
- Three cities (Three Cities - the collective name of three fortifications in the north of the island) - Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospikua, which became the first home for the knights of St. John;
- Casa Rocca Piccola Palace, now turned into a private museum - here you can get acquainted with the life of a wealthy Maltese family;
- Barrakka Lift, which takes you from the embankment to the Barakka Gardens;
- Independence Monument - in 1964 Malta gained independence from Great Britain;
- Siege Bell War Memorial, erected in honor of the people who died in Malta during the Second World War;
- Building of the Mediterranean Conference Center 16th century;
- Victoria Gate, late 19th century buildings named after the British Queen Victoria;
- San Elmo Bridge (Breakwater Bridge), which can be seen from all points of the embankment;
- Triton Fountain in the central square of Valletta;
- Church of the Shipwreck of St. Paul - built in 16 in honor of the shipwreck, as a result of which the Apostle Paul ended up on the island (there are over 300 churches in Malta);
- The main city gate as part of the island's fortifications;
- Strait Street is the most famous street in Malta.
The whole city is encircled by Republic Street, on which most of the attractions in the district are concentrated. One of the most famous buildings here can be considered Auberge de Castille (the government of the country is located in it). In the Middle Ages, it was the seat of the knights of Spain.
Walking along the Rue de la République further towards the sea, you will come to the exquisite building of Auberge de Provence - formerly the French knights lived here, and now houses the National Archaeological Museum. There is also the National Museum of Fine Arts, where famous works of both local and European painters are presented to the attention of visitors - the most famous of them is Michelangelo's painting "The Beheading of John the Baptist".
The climate of the "toy country" as many call it, and its location in the middle of the sea make it an ideal starting point for sailing or motor yacht travel. From Malta, close to the Sicilian coast and other Italian islands. This destination is well suited for both beginners and the most experienced yachtsmen.
A large number of yachting competitions are organized here from April to November. With the exception of small storms in winter, the prevailing winds are favorable for sailing here. A varied service from local companies complements the natural features of the Maltese archipelago.
Malta has been an important yacht center for decades, including for yacht berthing in winter. Due to the fact that the Maltese marinas are well protected from the winds, staying here in winter should not be too much of an inconvenience.
The Msida Marina, departing from the Big Harbor, is designed to accommodate almost 300 yachts, and a new Marina in Vittoriosa is almost completed. Anchorages are also available at Mgarr Harbor on Gozo and at the award-winning Portomaso Harbor of the Portomaso Hilton. High level service and yacht maintenance are available on Manoel Island, north of Lazaretto Bay, where you can leave your boat for the winter.
Before renting a yacht, we advise you to inquire whether the vessel is insured and whether it has an appropriate license. Yachtsmen have chosen the main island of the country for its uniqueness - buildings from local sandstone give the streets a characteristic, incomparable color. In addition, the level of service created by the Maltese today is the highest in the central Mediterranean.
If you are interested in buying or renting yachts in Malta or in another region, we are always glad to offer you our help. With us you will find the most profitable and relevant offers from the yacht market!

Discover Valletta
Valletta, The Fortress City, Citta' Umilissima, "a city built by gentlemen for gentlemen" is Malta's capital city: a living, working city, the administrative and commercial heart of the Islands. Valletta is named after its founder, the respected Grand Master of the Order of St. John, Jean Parisot de la Valette. The magnificent fortress city grew on the arid rock of Mount Sceberras peninsula, which rises steeply from two deep harbours, Marsamxett and Grand Harbour.
Started in 1566, Valletta was completed, with its impressive bastions, forts and cathedral, in the astonishingly short time of 15 years, even more remarkable is considering the fact that mechanical tools did not exist at the time and the whole city was built entirely by hand.
