Yacht Club Monaco

Founded in 1953 by Prince Rainier and presided over by HSH Prince Sovereign Albert II since 1984, the Yacht Club de Monaco brings together more than 2.500 members from 80 nationalities. Many of the world’s most prestigious private yachts fly the Yacht Club de Monaco’s burgee, testimony to its unique position on the international yachting scene.

Inauguration of the new YCM building

At 43°44’15’’ N and 7°25’40’’ E, this hi-tech building which looks like a liner docked on Quai Louis II is home to two of the Principality’s historic clubs: the Société Nautique (rowing club) and the Yacht Club, a meeting point for owners and focus of international yachting activities. Alongside Lord Foster and Monegasque architect Alexandre Giraldi, Jacques Grange and Nelson Wilmotte have put their talents to the service of the new building’s interior and exterior layout and design.

To be a member of the Yacht Club de Monaco is above all a commitment. Software engineer goes missing from Detroit Yacht Club where he's been a member for years

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Divers with Michigan State Police searched the waters near the Detroit Yacht Club Tuesday for any sign of 63-year-old James (Jim) Kuntz who was reported missing Sunday but last seen with friends Friday evening at the club.

Kuntz, a software engineer, is an avid kayaker, and, at first, the Coast Guard reported that he was missing along with his red kayak. But Plymouth Township Police spotted that red kayak in Kuntz's home when a close family friend, Tamra Homicz, contacted them to do a welfare check.

"My husband is like his brother," said Homicz. "They're that close."

The Detroit Yacht Club is on its own island next to Belle Isle and jurisdiction falls under the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

DNR conservation officers are handling the investigation and trying to determine if Kuntz fell into the water.

Homicz said that although Kuntz is an avid kayaker, he would never jump into the water to swim. And she said Kuntz would never go far from his Apple watch that he used to help monitor his heart.

The watch and Kuntz's wallet were reportedly found on his boat. His vehicle was found in the parking lot of the yacht club.

Investigators said they are working with Michigan State Police to try to ping Kuntz's phone.

Homicz said everyone thinks the world of Kuntz because he's so kind and always so helpful. And they just want to find him.

"He deserves this," she said. "It's just one of those things. It's a mystery that we hope can be solved."

If anyone sees any sign of Kuntz near the water, they should call 911. Anyone with any other information that might assist investigators is urged to call DNR dispatch at 1-800-292-7800.

Firstly thank you for the great packaging and bottle of wine. All class there….

Still deciding on what to purchase.

Spending time with each one every day, just Uden Overdose to go. So far I have narrowed it down to 4, Alexandria ll, Erba Pura, Naxos and Golden Dallah.

Each one is really beautiful with their own unique style .

My wife has 2 sets of 4 to decide as well. She is working through them.

Sweet & Boozy: A Candy Harlot

I written reviews for Xerjoff's NAXOS, and more lately Lubin's KORRIGAN, but this little delight...oh...

But IOMMI? This one's sweet, boozy, forceful and she's doing things to me, that I'm not entirely opposed to.

If I said to you that, for me, NAXOS was a continually complex olfactory adventure, and everytime I noticed that I was wearing it, by catching another wiff, that brought me something different again in the bouquet, I would not stray from the truth, and IF I said that KORRIGAN'S linear journey with high notes of Saffron, leather and oh, so many things... was a straight drive into nasal bliss, I again would not depart from the truth...

But, the sweetness of IOMMI, is something at once complex and linear in a way that I'm still not sure how I should tell you about it. It's sweet, but not floral, syrupy, and approaches, but doesn't cross into the dirty side of corruption, too sweet to taste like it's going to be good for you and promising that it's just bad enough to be enjoyed, thoroughly.

The notes higher in the bouquet; cinnamon, caramel and leather, for me, and maybe only for me, are the chief seduction in this ~ if you imagine SPICE BOMB, but with sweeter and easier to inhale gourmands ( the caramel screams for me to lick it ), that's riding on a bed of musk, and amber, and patchouli and that bed has a spread of Rum soaked sheets, dressed in vanilla, tonka and sandalwood pillow cases, I would agree.

Of course the bed is pulled along by two unicorns…

I blind bought this scent after hearing good things about it and the only regret I have is only buying one bottle at the sale price. If you want to impress on a night out or on a date, you won't go wrong with Tony Iommi. This is my new favourite scent.

Tony Iommi is a roller coaster.

Everytime I wear this fragrance I just fall in love and something new tickles my nose.

Some days the patchouli comes through others it’s more the passionfruit and rum.

It seems to never be the same and I love it for that.

Gorgeous and a favourite of my collection

This fragrance is gorgeous and addictive.

Disregard all the weirdos below. Those who want to scream into the abyss about politics should go over to Twitter. This is a perfume shop.

This beautiful leathery fruity scent is perfectly balanced with a decent sillage and good longevity. I wish I didn't like it so much given the price of Xerjoff but I will repurchase and I hope they keep this in their permanent line.

I do believe this fragrance is the most melodically compositoned masterpiece with warm tones of amber, vanilla, ginger, strawberry, peach and caramel so many notes of warm yummy goodness, brings to mind passionate encounters of love and romance, embraces with exceptional masculine men. This fragrance embraces femininity and the devine empress in me, musical memories of my hearts desire. This is my very favourite fragrance truly, every good memory/lover in one scent. If romance was one fragrance it would be this work of art. May I ask, Karen, as to how you could possibly contemplate the notion of drafting a review pertaining to a fragrance that is regrettably unattainable, lacking any sign of availability, and devoid of any testing samples for assessment?

Subjectivity

To Karen: I noticed your comment that was posted 20 minutes ago. If the fragrance is not available to buy and there are no samples, how can you still wear and try it?

Although I dislike being overly critical, it is imperative to note that asserting that the product solely based on its ability to be worn without causing severe headaches is medically subjective considering that potential influence could be from hormonal fluctuations, and does not sufficiently contribute towards comprehending the fragrance's qualities and aroma.

I wish reviewers would focus less on a personal side and more on constructive and practical point of the scent itself.

Only perfume I have EVER been able to wear, without it leaving me with a massive headache.

I am over the moon to be finally able to wear a fragrance that doesn't leave me with a headache!

Best fragrance I’ve owned by far, marine note mixed with iris and lavender aswell as sandalwood, it’s my signature scent. Performance and longevity are excellent. All year around scent.

I’m so happy have this in my collection. This smells classy and expensive. It’s hard to describe what notes I’m smelling. I imagine to be sitting in an upper class yacht club. The tablecloths have been washed in expensive soap, and have been ironed. There is a vase of fresh cut flowers in the distance and the smell of the ocean is entering through the open doors; not in an aquatic way, but more a marine way. I really think I could wear this all year round. The compliments have been nice too.

Complex and divine.

Absolutely incredible scent. There is so much going on, but in a magical sense and not an overwhelming or clashing sense at all. It’s sweet, it’s salty, a little bit green, a little bit blue. It’s a bright scent rather than a deep amber scent. Perfectly unisex. Another superb offering from Xerjoff and straight onto my list of Xerjoff to purchase full size.

It starts off powdery and changes into a salty and complex smell thats hard to describe. It is a cold weather scent because it comes out more.

Powdery floral luxury

I guess at this price point I should be relieved that this (sample) didn’t float my boat. Too floral for me. It certainly does exude class and would make an amazing signature scent. I didn’t find it particularly long lasting.

First all-female regatta for YCM

Wednesday 8 th March – For International Women’s Day, Yacht Club de Monaco announced launch of a first for Monaco with a brand new J/70 event for women sailors. “ It is a very special occasion for us to organise a women-only regatta, a first for Yacht Club de Monaco. We are really looking forward to it,” says Bernard d’Alessandri, YCM General Secretary. It is being organised in collaboration with the French and Monegasque Sailing Federations and in partnership with Xerjoff. “ As we share with YCM the same values of vitality, performance and elegance, the luxury perfume firm, Xerjoff, is very proud to support the Pink Wave team and this new regatta to promote sailing to women,” says Sergio Momo, Founder and CEO of Xerjoff.

Pink Wave team on their marks

Pink Wave is a large group of YCM sailors of all levels who sail on different types of boat, including J/70, and are the ones mainly responsible for organising this regatta. Launched four years ago at prize-giving for the Primo Cup-Trophée Crédit Suisse, the Pink Wave team has really taken off within YCM. “ Not many of us had much sailing experience and we found that there are very few women racing but lots of boats with male crews. We decided to start from scratch and that everything we did would correspond to the Club’s idea which is to participate. That’s how the Pink Wave team was born ,” explains team member Anne Schouten. Having started sailing at the age of 50, she is convinced that women need to make their mark in sports where men still dominate.

Twenty teams of a maximum of five crew are expected for the first Woman Leading and Sailing Trophy. “ We are working hard to prepare for this all-female regatta in the Principality and are very enthusiastic,” continues Anne. “The WLS is a circuit of eight regattas throughout France, launched by the French Sailing Federation to promote sailing to women. In most countries, there is still a shortage of female sailors. As Pink Wave , we were in contact with the French Sailing Federation from the start and thought it would be fun to do something together. They immediately suggested to YCM that we organise a regatta here”.

Packed programme

The Pink Wave team are all set to line up on the start of other regattas taking place in Saint-Tropez, Hamburg and even New York, next September for the Liberty Cup Regatta. They have already competed in several including the J/70 World Championship organised for the first time in Monaco last October.

“ Our adventure in competition goes back several years,” explains Anne Rodelato. “ We started training on J/70s. I had good experience on this boat but everyone brings their skills and that has been fantastic. We had been sailing together for several seasons and became a proper team capable of competing in such a major event like the Worlds . There are more and more women in this sport, more mixed teams and that’s great. In the early days, you couldn’t even find sailing gear for women. But now we see many women taking part in races, even at the highest level like the America’s Cup. We also see mixed teams and realise that women can bring something extra to a crew”.

Hudson River Ice Yacht Club trophy found in New Zealand

RHINECLIFF- A Loving Cup Trophy from 1904 was found in the North Haven Hospice Thrift Shop in Mangawhai, New Zealand, by a woman who had never heard of ice yachting nor the Hudson River Club.  Debi Shwer of Auckland, New Zealand was visiting Mangawhai, when she stopped into a thrift shop there.  The Sterling Cup caught her eye, and she was determined to find out more.

Contacting HRIYPT President Robert Wills through the organization’s website, she described her objective of learning more about ice yachting after seeing the inscription on the trophy.

“I was just visiting my mother in law in Mangawhai for Easter.  I wish I had a better look around (the thrift shop) because I was on a time limit from my husband waiting in the car!  I am honestly fascinated by how it ended up in a charity shop in Northland New Zealand,” she said.

Shwer purchased the trophy and sent it to the club where it now sits as a part of their collection.  The club plans is to loan it to an appropriate institution this winter where it can be displayed.

The Trophy was awarded on March 5, 1904, to the yacht “Rainbow”, a Hyde Park Ice Yacht Club boat owned by Capt. Owen Roberts, for winning a ten-mile race for Fourth Class Boats.  Future President Franklin Roosevelt’s boat “Hawk” came in second.

“Rainbow” was recorded in club books in 1903, and then again in 1910.  It was built by George Buckhout, preeminent ice yacht builder, in Poughkeepsie.  Subsequently, Capt. Roberts sailed the boat in 1912 out of the North Shrewsbury Ice Boat & Yacht Club in Red Bank, New Jersey, where it was outfitted with the most modern of hardware and sails, a “Marconi Rig” (the triangular sail used on most sailboats today), and renamed “Rainbow 2nd”.  It then disappears from the records, until it shows up in Wisconsin.

Recently offered for sale there, it was purchased by the Lawrence Family of Newburgh, New York, who have been competitive ice yacht racers and Hudson River Ice Yacht Club members for generations, and were instrumental in the restoration of “Jack Frost,” the 1880 multiple world champion ice yacht of Archibald Rogers of Hyde Park, New York, and still sailed today by the Hudson River Ice Yacht Club.
