launched in 1887, she was designed by the great G.L. Watson with inspiration from the Scottish Loch Fyne Skiffs. Her interior was designed by her first owner, Robert Cowan Robertson, who was an artist in the Glasgow area and created a spectacular interior design that has survived the passage of time and is nearly all original today. Her saloon joinery has been carefully restored to keep all the original panelling and features and needed only minimal repairs. Her saloon is a completely unique work of art. The yacht was totally rebuilt between 2009 and 2017 with 80% new planking and frames, new deck and all new systems. The restoration was sympathetic to the original design and has resulted in a very special and unique vessel that is in superb condition.

When you are searching for sailing boats for sale in the UK to fit your lifestyle, you should know what kinds there are. These are the main types of sailing boats for sale UK area-wide:

• Beach catamaran - Catamarans have two parallel hulls that are equally sized. They are stabilised from possessing a wide beam, rather than from a keel with ballast like a mono-hull sailing boat.
• Cruising sailboat - These types of swift sailing boats average around 16 to 50 feet in length and have cabins for extended trips. The larger boats often have standing headroom below.
• Daysailer - A daysailer is a small sailboat that averages around 14 to 20 feet in length and has a small cuddy cabin for storage. They can seat up to four people and are meant for day use.
• Motorsailer - A motorsailer is powered with sails and an engine. These sailing boats are typically large and luxurious, averaging around 35 feet or more. Motorsailers for sale on eBay are meant for longer cruises.
• Racer-cruiser - Racer-cruisers are cruising boats that are modified for competitive racing. They are usually around 25 feet in length.
• Racing sailboats - These sailing boats are dedicated racing boats that are built for speed and have minimal accommodations. They can be between 20 to 70 feet in length.
• Sailing Dinghies - These are small sailing boats that are under 15 feet and are generally meant for one or two passengers. Many people use these in competitive racing.

A sailing yacht is the same as a sailing boat, but it usually is used as a term in reference to a large sailing boat or yacht. These yachts for sale in the UK generally range in size from 20 feet to upwards of 70 feet. Yachting refers to the sport of sailing.

The most common type of small sailing boat is a sloop, which is often used in racing. A sloop has a rig of one mast and two sails. The mainsail is a tall sail that is triangular in shape, which is attached along its leading edge to the mast and has its foot alongside the boom. The sail in front is the jib or the headsail, and it is mounted on the forestay between the masthead and the bow.

After several months of looking and two failed surveys, I have just completed the purchase of my first boat, a Jeanneau Merry Fisher 795. As a newcomer to boating I have to admit my first impression of boat brokers was pretty poor (compared to other industries I deal with) - descriptions were definitely on the optimistic side, boats were untidy, dirty and generally poorly presented. No excuses, just very poor sales and I would be careful who to list my boat with in the future. Then I came across Ancasta (Leo Walters) who shone bright like a beacon. The description of the boat was accurate, minor faults highlighted and extra pictures provided on request. Communications with Ancasta have been excellent, the boat was very well presented for inspection and after sales Ancasta remained interested to ensure my experience was positive. I wouldn't hesitate going to Ancasta for another purchase and if you are thinking of selling a boat, consider using Ancasta, you will get better service and value for money than many other brokers out there. And as a buying customer I would feel confident buying through them so you would be more likely to sell to me!

I thought that I would drop you a line to say how very pleased we were with the help and support we got from Kostas and Josiane in Ancasta Badalona. We always felt that they were working for us, not just to make a sale. In particular Kostas was able to help and advise on some of the little touches to make Ione look a little better for sale – replacing a rusty heads jubilee clip, acid cleaning around some seacocks etc. In addition he went well beyond the call of duty in taking me to his chiropractor when I wrecked my back cleaning in lockers! We are now mourning being boatless for the first time in over 40 years. Best wishes.
