Invincible 33 Catamaran Review

Let's take a closer look at the invincible 33 catamaran in this boat review.

Invincible 33 Catamaran Review

The Morelli and Melvin designed hulls each Invincible catamaran features takes comfort and efficiency to the next level.

If I were trying to sell the performance or demonstrate to someone who’d never ridden on a power catamaran fishing boat how well they handled rough weather- jumping on any of the Invincible Cats would be a great first step. After being blown away by the 37 Invincible Cat last year, the 33 had its work cut out for it. My first concern was “could Invincible build one small enough to run great with only twin power that would also stand up to offshore weather of any consequence?” The short and long answer is, absolutely.

The 33 Catamaran proved to be another Morrelli and Melvin hull design that delivers a smooth, dry, and remarkably solid ride in real world offshore weather. Each of these models are laid out similarly and the new 33 Cat is a scaled down version of each of her bigger sisters. The difference is how much roomier this 33-foot boat feels due to her wise use of every inch of over 300 square feet of work space. A quick 360-degree spin around the single level deck reveals four extra-large insulated fish holds underfoot in the bow and amidships. A pair of large livewells (up to 70-gallons) are in the transom and below deck to starboard, each supplied via sea chest and outfitted with primary and spare pumps.

Plenty of tackle storage is available hidden behind the mezzanine seat back on the helm station as well as on both sides of the helm box and within the transom bulkhead to port. A large drink cooler is also below the mezzanine seat. For rod storage, there isn’t a location on board where you won’t find a rod holder on either side of you within arm’s reach. The helm is enclosed on three sides in glass with a triple wide seat facing a centered helm control. A pair of 400 Mercury engines pushed the 33 into the 60 MPH range with ease.

For any remaining dyed in the wool old school non-believers who are on the fence regarding the roominess, comfort, performance and ride that a perfectly designed catamaran offers, a ride on the Invincible 33 will without a doubt push you over the edge.

Invincible 33 Catamaran: 2022 Boat Buyers Guide

  • December 17, 2021

There are many ways to describe a boat, but Invincible has settled upon one word that embodies grace, strength, agility and more: athletic.

Invincible 33 overhead

“The fact is,” the company says proudly, “no one today builds a more athletic fishing machine.”

Invincible introduced its now-classic center-console Invincible 36 in 2006, built on the patented Stepped-Vee Ventilated Tunnel design from naval architect Michael Peters. Invincible’s monohull boats still ride on that distinctive hull design.

Next, Invincible partnered with multihull specialist Morrelli & Melvin Design to create a center-console catamaran line whose patented hybrid, semi-asymmetrical design leads the industry in ride, handling and speed. The boat’s fishability is enriched by its single-level deck and ability to gaff a fish from the bow.

Invincible 33 Catamaran

Invincible’s smallest cat—with siblings to 46 feet—takes the performance, versatility and amenities of those larger boats and packages them in a powerful, agile and nimble new one: what the company calls “a whole new size of serious.”

Atop the patented catamaran hull, a single-level deck offers 360-degree walk-around fishability. Within the deck is generous storage and insulated fish boxes and livewells; another livewell is in the transom, among other options.

A high-speed pickup is ready to serve an optional sea chest. The deluxe console has ample space for battlewagon-style electronics, and is lined and lighted within to offer space for a full-size head. Match your fishing style with a custom top: a hardtop or folding tower with a dual station, plus a buggy-style hardtop and/or crow’s-nest. Rupp or Gem outriggers are options, as are additional rod holders, electric-reel outlets, LED spreader lights, and seating additions and upgrades including custom Llebroc helm chairs.

For power, choose from twin Yamaha 300s or Mercury Verado or Racing outboards.

Manufacturer’s Remark

With the size making it easy to trailer, this was purpose-built for customers interested in big-cat performance to align with their size needs.

Performance Data

  • Test Power: Twin 400 Mercury Verado
  • Test Props: Mercury Eco Enertia, 19”
  • Test Load: 11,000 lb. boat and power, plus 50 gal. fuel, one passenger
  • Test Speed: 65.5 mph @ 6,800 rpm
  • Max Range: 525 mi., 41 mph @ 4,500 rpm

Editor Says

Invincible’s exclusive catamaran hull design makes it one of the most stable, easy-handling and efficient offshore boats on the water. Each hull is built to order and designed for serious anglers. – Randy Vance, Editor-at-Large, Boating and Fishing Group

2024 Invincible 33 Catamaran

  • By Boating Tech Team
  • December 13, 2023

Invincible’s 33 Catamaran has proven to be a hit. It’s not at all surprising considering its smooth, responsive handling. A hybrid semi-asymmetrical hull designed by Morrelli and Melvin applies the best characteristics of an asymmetrical catamaran with soft-riding symmetrical cat sponsons. The boat makes sharp turns without awkward outboard heeling. Even in quartering seas, the sponsons stand firm in the slop; in fact, the nastier the weather, the better the double-step hull works.

Invincible 33 Catamaran offshore

The helm station offers three-wide seating with a centered wheel. The leaning-post seat is comfortable for sitting or leaning. A step below the helm adds comfort while standing or seated. The station itself offers massive room for dual 20-inch (or larger) screens and, in our case, a 9-inch VesselView display, an Icom VHF radio and a Fusion stereo controller. The hardtop stretches wide and aft of the leaning post, keeping the helm glare-free and shaded.

Invincible 33 Catamaran forward seating

The fighting cockpit is impressively spacious, taking full advantage of the 10-foot-3-inch beam. An oval livewell with a clear acrylic lid in the transom is 65 gallons, pressurized, and fed from a sea chest with three pumps in the starboard sponson. To port of this livewell is a pair of drawers ideal for tackle, rope, or wash and wax supplies. There’s also a larger 65-gallon livewell below the sole.

Invincible 33 Catamaran helm

The mezzanine seat (back of the leaning post) is triple-wide, with the seating angle designed to lean back even when the boat is on plane. Tackle storage is conveniently accessed behind the drop-down seatback and in the sides of the leaning post.

Four fish boxes and a coffin box ahead of the center console offer plenty of fish storage, and they pump out with durable gulper pumps instead of temperamental macerators.

Invincible 33 Catamaran console seating

A dual lounge forward of the helm features thick cushions, deep bolsters, armrests and handy cup holders. Invincible’s great ride delivers comfort during casual outings, and the spacious deck makes it a formidable fishing machine. Add new V-10 power options and the excitement is palpable.

Invincible 33 Catamaran

Specifications.

Performance in a concentrated form. That is what the Invincible 33 Catamaran is all about. It is a super stable twin-hull fishing platform that delivers one of the most unbelievable rides offshore, getting you to the fishing spots and back again with a cloud-like ride. This is Invincible’s most compact catamaran to date, designed for maximum performance out of both twin-engine configurations.

The 33 Catamaran is 10.3 metres long with a maximum beam of 3.2 metres, and can take a maximum combined 900 horsepower. It offers effortless manoeuvrability, a speedy, comfortable ride and unparalleled stability in a compact and nimble design.

The patent-pending twin hull design provides tremendous cockpit space only a catamaran can deliver. Invincible focused on one objective in the design of all their catamarans: sea-keeping ability and the Invincible 33 Catamaran has that and then some.

It rides on a Morelli & Melvin designed hull built specifically for the company. It can tackle seas from all directions, whilst still being able to manoeuvre turns at high speeds without the need to drastically pull back on the throttle. There are no limitations for this boat. It will be at home chasing marlin off the Great Barrier Reef or off the NSW coast.

Even casting large surface lures for GTs is possible in the Invincible 33 Catamaran. Despite being the smallest catamaran in the Invincible line-up, the 33 Catamaran is still a spacious and feature-packed vessel. As always, the 360-degree walk-around deck provides excellent fishability with ample under deck storage for your equipment and catch.

The cleverly designed helm station with a hardtop and windshield provides excellent protection from Australia’s harsh conditions. Fishing fanatics can add an optional rigging station behind the helm for complete control of the action. The Invincible 33 Catamaran may be the most practical and dynamic boat in the range. A compact catamaran with absolutely no limits on its uses.

Invincible 33 Catamaran walkthrough video

About invincible boats.

The ride the industry is talking about. That is what sets Invincible apart and what they set out to achieve in 2006. They have singlehandedly reshaped the centre-console fishing boat category. They have the fastest and flattest-riding hulls in the business. A ride that must be experienced to truly feel the Invincible difference.

Invincible use the most current techniques available, and the finest materials to build boats that are more athletic and stronger. They build true semi-custom, owner-designed boats in mono and catamaran styles, and ensure your Invincible is built to their exacting standards with your distinct wishes in mind.

The great Invincible ride is thanks to the innovative Stepped Vee Ventilated Tunnel (SVVT) design. This design was pioneered with world-renowned marine architect, Michael Peters. It delivers unprecedented speed and ride quality, combined with unbelievable fuel economy and stability.

The Invincible mono V hull started with a clean sheet of paper, making the ergonomic and functional demands of the hardcore offshore angler the first priority in every decision, from hatch and compartment placement to the rigging and plumbing. All of this was approached from an engineering perspective, to combine bank vault quality strength with yacht-quality finishes throughout, designed for a lifetime of performance and durability that will stand up to the toughest use.

The Invincible catamaran hull was the culmination of a collaboration with Gino Morrelli and Pete Melvin of Morrelli & Melvin, the designers behind some of the most iconic sailing catamarans of the past 20 years. Their championship pedigree and investment in computational fluid dynamics makes them the most knowledgeable and technologically advanced firm in boating. The result was the unprecedented Invincible 40 Catamaran.

The Invincible catamaran hull handles well at speed, leans inward during a turn and rides in following and quartering seas without negative trim. Using Invincible’s exclusive access to Morrelli & Melvin’s patented, hybrid, semi-asymmetric, multihull design, the full line of Invincible Catamarans provides eye-popping performance, combined with a dry, soft ride, all packaged in a catamaran that has eliminated the compromises that came with catamarans of the past.

All Invincible boats exhibit quick, responsive handling, a soft, stable ride and best-in-class speed.

Invincible 33 Open Fisherman Review

  • By Jim Hendricks
  • Updated: April 24, 2013

Invincible 33 Open Fisherman

Invincible 33 Open Fisherman

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: From unsurpassed fishing features to exquisite fit and finish, the sleek Invincible 33 Open Fisherman is dressed to impress. I was struck by the wide-open layout of this center-console that allowed me to easily move forward or aft, but my favorite spot was at the helm, as this thoroughbred begs to go fast.

TARGET MARKET: Invincible Boats caters to highly discriminating buyers, with each boat built to order. The smallest model in the Invincible fleet, the 33 rides on the company’s patented Stepped-Vee Ventilated Tunnel hull. Twin steps introduce a cushion of air to smooth the ride, improve fuel efficiency and boost speed. Powered by a pair of Mercury 300 Verado outboards, my test boat achieved nearly 60 mph at top end. The boat lifted marvelously to adroitly span the rolling three-footers in the Atlantic off Miami Beach. It seems that the faster the 33 runs, the smoother it rides. In cornering, it stays on track without tripping or skipping. Maximum mpg was a pleasing 1.78 at 42.1 mph.

FISHIEST FEATURES: The 33 features two standard livewells, a 35-gallon tank in the transom and 50-gallon well below deck in the aft cockpit, and both are equipped with high-speed pickups. There are four insulated fish boxes — two massive lockers below the aft deck and another pair of voluminous lockers under the center of the forward deck. You can also order an insulated coffin box for the foredeck with electric rams to tilt it up from the base when you need to access the lockers below. A deep, built-in anchor locker in the forepeak will hold hundreds of feet of rode for anchoring on deep wrecks. At the helm, there’s ample room to flush-mount a pair of 12-inch, flat-panel multifunction displays on the 33-inch-wide dash area .

THE LAYOUT: “Room to roam” aptly describes the Invincible 33’s wide-open decks. Recessed bow rails and five retractable cleats keep the topside free of snags and impediments while castnetting and fishing. The forward deck is not elevated, thus eliminating trip points and increasing forward gunwale depths for greater safety. However, diminutive anglers might find it challenging to work a fish around the tall, flared bow. The forward opening to the console offers easy access to the helm rigging and makes it simpler to load helium tanks, large balloons and assembled kites used for sailfish and king mackerel.

FINAL IMPRESSIONS: In addition to testing this boat, I went to the factory to see for myself the quality of the construction, which includes a molded-grid stringer system that integrates the bulkheads and stringers into a virtually indestructible unit. What’s more, the rigging tubes are incorporated into the stringers for an immaculate look belowdecks. The 100 percent vinylester-resin hull should keep the 33 looking good for decades. If you seek the ultimate in center-console fishing machines, the Invincible 33 Open Fisherman certainly deserves a spot on your short list.
