Horizon's Boat Briefings

After physics - jeanneau sun odyssey 490.

This state-of-the-art Jeanneau 490 has a sleek and beautiful metallic blue-grey hull with white cove and double boot stripes, white decks, and a light bright oak interior. Ample hatches, ports, and deadlights for a clean airy modern interior.  The Jeanneau 490 sleeps 6 in three cabins with two heads with 2 additional berths if the dinette is converted.

Arctic Fantasy II - Lagoon 42

The open-plan saloon and cockpit on the Lagoon 42 have a bulkhead helm position on the port side. A beam of just over 25ft and a true LOA of 42ft make her feel very spacious and uncluttered indeed, both above and below decks. Flush deck hatches and handholds in the coach roof make moving around her wide decks easy and safe. The cockpit has a large table, and seating for all the crew and their friends, with a cockpit fridge to keep the drinks cold.

As You Wish - Lagoon 46

The Lagoon 46 catamaran is the successor to the world’s most successful catamaran design, the Lagoon 450 (over 900 built). With improved living space and sailing performance, you know you will be chartering a fabulous cat.

There are 4 cabins, all with en-suite electric heads and showers. Berths are large doubles in all cabins.  There are two single berths in the bows, accessed from the deck.

Life aboard is accessed from wide-open transoms with just two shallow steps up into the cockpit.  In the cockpit, there is a sink, front-loading fridge, and plenty of storage on the starboard side. To port, there is an extensive countertop with a built-in icebox.

Fully air-conditioned, with a generator, extensive fridge, and freezer space – this cat is designed for easy living.

With electric winches where needed, autopilot, and the latest B&G navigation equipment, she can be sailed comfortably short-handed.

Blue Water Nomad - Nautitech Fly 46

This Nautitech 46 charter catamaran ‘Blue Water Nomad’ 2022 model is loaded with extras: Watermaker, generator and air conditioning, foredeck lounge area, a cockpit table that converts into a lounge bed….or an alfresco bed! Full coverage bimini for the helm station and bridge deck, with seating for 12 comfortably.

In the hulls, there are 4 electric heads with amply sized showers, 4 double cabins, plus 2 singles in the bows, accessed from the deck or the forward cabins.

The Fly 46 has proven immensely popular in charter in the Caribbean, due to its immense outdoor living space. The “open” concept where sliding doors between the cockpit lounge and saloon merge both of them into one ample living space.

Brie II - Lagoon 450 Flybridge

This Lagoon 450 Flybridge benefits from several upgrades in addition to the standard Horizon Charter specification, including the following items for additional comfort: flybridge sun-berths; generator and air conditioning; quiet-flush electric heads; Bose sound system; freezer; watermaker; additional fridge; cockpit fridge; flybridge bimini.

In addition to the 4 double cabins, Brie II also has a twin salon berth and two forepeak berths.

The Lagoon 450 Flybridge is superbly designed for ease of sailing: a steering station on the flybridge with safe access from both sides for perfect visibility and a large sunbathing area; a spacious cockpit, again ideal for sunbathing, on the same level as the galley, with a ventilation panel; a second cockpit, making the best use of the forward area.

Brown Eyed Girl - Fountaine Pajot Astréa 42

The Astréa 42 is distinguished by its abundance of natural light, energetic lines, elegant living spaces and unparalleled comfort while delivering sheer pleasure underway. A joy to share as a couple or with family and friends.

The Astréa 42 was conceived and designed to facilitate free-flowing movement throughout the boat, as well as linking the helm station with the outdoor relaxation and living spaces from coachroof to cockpit.

The coachroof features a double seat at the helm station and a built-in sun lounger for enjoying idyllic days together.

Casbah III - Lagoon 42

The Lagoon 42 catamaran won the best “boat of the year” awards from both Cruising World and Sail magazine in 2017.

With 3 double cabins, there is an open-plan saloon and cockpit with a bulkhead helm position on the port side of this Lagoon 42 catamaran. The cockpit has a large table, and seating for all the crew and their friends, with a cockpit fridge to keep the drinks cold.

The interior is Italian-designed and luxurious. It boasts a superb galley and lounge area with a dining table.

Cloudwalker - Lagoon 40

The Lagoon 40 catamaran is a great yacht for cruising the BVI. She offers an excellent balance between living space and sailing performance. The cockpit has a large table, and seating for all the crew and their friends, with a cockpit fridge to keep the drinks cold. An ergonomic helm station is accessible from the cockpit or deck, enabling communication between the skipper and crew at all times.

Large wide transoms allow simple access to the tender and safe, easy boarding. A forward cockpit, fitted with a sunbathing area, provides further living space.

This is a 3-cabin /2-head model, with the addition of a convertible saloon to a double berth and a single berth in the port bow. The port hull is dedicated to a spacious and luxurious en-suite owner’s cabin. A new aft cabin design incorporates a “semi Island” double berth. There is another double starboard forward and a large head and shower amidships on the starboard side

Cadenza - Nautitech Fly 46

This Nautitech Fly 46 catamaran   is loaded with extras. Watermaker, Generator, air conditioning, foredeck lounge area, a cockpit table that converts into a lounge bed or an alfresco bed! Full coverage bimini for the helm station and bridge deck, with seating for 12 comfortably.

This Marc Lombard design has class beating fineness of hull ratio – think Hobie cat with accommodation when it comes to volume and performance.

There are 4 electric heads in the hulls with amply sized showers, 4 double cabins, plus 2 singles in the bows, accessed from the deck or the forward cabins.

The Fly 46 has proven immensely popular in charter in the Caribbean, due to her immense outdoor living space; the “open” concept where sliding doors between the cockpit lounge and saloon merge both of them into one large living space.

Cosette II - Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 490

The side deck slopes down towards the helm station on each side. So you simply walk around the helm. The other evolutionary design is that the cockpit coamings are hinged, and folded down to make flat lounging day beds whenever you want.

With 4 double cabins and a skippers cabin, all with en suite heads and showers, this is a fabulous boat for larger groups.

Combined with her powerful hull, twin helms, rudders, roller furling mainsail, and genoa, the 490 is easily sailed short-handed. Centralized winches, all control lines led aft, and a full array of electronics, make sailing short-handed or fully crewed, fun, simple, and stress-free. She even has electric winches for the genoa and an electric winch that will run the main outhaul and mainsheet.

The Sun Odyssey 490 won ‘best-imported boat of the year’ in Cruising World Magazine in 2019

Detour - Fountaine Pajot Elba 45

The elegant Elba 45 replaces the very successful Helia 44 and has a more ergonomically designed helm station to improve handling, and better hydrodynamics improving sailing performance. The Elba 45 boasts incredible interior living space, an extensive cockpit opening onto an innovative saloon, together with the largest saloon space in her category.

The four double cabins are bathed in light and offer a quiet, comfortable retreat in which to relax, with en-suite heads and showers. The Fountaine Pajot Elba 45 ‘Detour’ is enhanced with incredibly generous spaces to relax, on the foredeck, lounge deck, and in the cockpit, not to mention the Beach Club electric platform aft.

Duality - Nautitech Open 44

The Nautitech 44 Open continues to build on the successful ‘Open’ concept whilst delivering a ‘wide grin’ sailing performance. The 44 Open is probably the fastest cruising catamaran available for a bareboat charter. The Open 44 remains stable, comfortable, and downright fun to sail on and off the wind.

With the double aft helm station positions, you have an unobstructed view of the sails and the sea and you can communicate and enjoy the sailing with all the crew members in the cockpit.

The cockpit flows seamlessly into the saloon giving you the ideal indoor/outdoor living space for a yacht in the tropics. With an almost 360-degree view from the entrance of the saloon, you can happily escape inclement weather or socialize at the cockpit table whilst still being able to keep an eye on your surroundings.

There is excellent fridge capacity aboard with a double-drawer fridge, cockpit fridge and a freezer unit.

The owner’s cabin, located in the port hull, is light and spacious with portlights along the length of the cabin. The starboard hull features 2 cabins.

Echo - Lagoon 50

The large, open-plan, aft cockpit of the Lagoon 50 catamaran features an L-shaped lounge area that is very comfortable for general leisure and provides uninterrupted views of the ocean beyond.

The Lagoon 50 is a dream to sail. Shorthanded crews will benefit from the large  self-tacking headsail  and  a short and easy-to-reef boom .  There is a spacious helm station with a centre steering wheel to ensure the best possible visibility on the raised flybridge. A large sundeck is positioned just behind the wheel to allow the helmsman to drive, whilst enjoying the company of a partner or guests relaxing nearby.

The well-equipped galley is positioned aft and looks onto the elevated saloon area for a fabulous open-plan living space.

There are four sumptuous double cabins and an additional two compact doubles amidships. Each cabin has its own head and shower. There is a skipper’s cabin in the port bow and a head and shower in the starboard bow.

Gelos - Fountaine Pajot Elba 45

The contemporary design delivers on both performance and practical levels. This elegant catamaran replaces the very successful Helia 44 and has a more ergonomically designed helm station to improve handling, and better hydrodynamics improving sailing performance. The Fountaine Pajot 45 boasts energetic lines and inverted bows, accommodating incredible interior living space.

The Elba delivers an extensive cockpit opening onto an innovative saloon, together with the largest saloon space in her category.

The guest cabins are bathed in light and offer a quiet, comfortable retreat in which to relax, with en-suite heads and showers. The Elba is enhanced with incredibly generous spaces to relax, on the foredeck, lounge deck, and in the cockpit, not to mention the Beach Club electric platform aft.

Hakuna Matata IV - Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 490

This Jeanneau 490 charter yacht is a sleek modern cruising yacht with a custom dark grey painted hull and red boot stripe so you are sure to stand out on the water. This vessel was named Cruising World’s 2019 Import Boat of the Year.

An extra-large swim platform offers easy boarding and with twin helms, there is clear access through the cockpit to the companionway. The large stateroom is forward with an island queen double with a separate large shower with sink to starboard and a head with sink to port. There is two more well-appointed queen-sized double cabins aft. There is also a second head and shower aft.

Island Karma - Bavaria 41

The Bavaria 41 (or Bavaria Cruiser 41) delivers freedom, luxury and outstanding sailing performance for circumnavigation, family sailing and yacht charterers alike. Island Karma is the 3 cabin / 2 head version.

Twin wheel steering provides clear visibility on all points of sail and when anchoring or docking. There is easy access between the wheels to the giant swim platform. There is seating for six at the cockpit table which has an integrated chart plotter, handrails and drinks holders. With a full array of Garmin integrated electronics and autopilot, combined with all sail controls led to the cockpit, this yacht is easily sailed short or single handed.

Below deck, the Bavaria 41 ‘Island Karma’ is all about luxurious comfort and generous amounts of space. The two double cabins, together with two ensuite heads and showers, ensure comparable facilities for the whole crew.

Island Tonic - Lagoon 46 (2024)

Seaworthiness and performance are keywords on the Lagoon 46 catamaran.  With its double access, the Flybridge is dedicated both to manoeuvring and relaxing. The centred helm station offers protection and visibility.

The Lagoon 46 catamaran combines modular cockpits front and aft with a complete cooking area at the back. There is also practical and safe access to the sea.

The interior embraces a refined, elegant and functional style. The owner suite is generous and equipped with an island bed for optimal comfort.

The other cabins also adopt impressive volumes, in particular the front cabin where the bed is now as comfortable and spacious as the aft cabins.

Jitterbug - Bavaria 37

The British “Sailing Today’ magazine gave the Bavaria cruiser 37 a 4/5 for sailing performance.

With a fully battened mainsail and 106% genoa, this Bavaria 37 is super fast to tack, and easily sailed short-handed due to the single line reefing system led back to the cockpit.

She carries her beam well aft enabling this 37 footer to have the cockpit of a 40 footer and twin helm positions. This provides for excellent visibility when helming on either tack and also gives a clear walkway through to the transom.

There are 2 cabins, a forward V-Berth. The aft cabin has a large bed with a clever design that tucks behind the engine compartment for extra room.

Luna - Nautitech Fly 46

Luna is the new ‘Mark 2” re-imagined version of the Nautitech Fly 46 catamaran designed by Marc Lombard, one of the most successful yacht designers in France.

The Fly 46 has proven immensely popular in charter in the Caribbean, due to her immense outdoor living space; the “open” concept where sliding doors between the cockpit lounge and saloon merge both of them into one large living space remains unchanged, as does the best in class Flybridge, where 10 can sit comfortably, with a table and cooler drawer for drinks under the helm seat. Her performance also remains best in class with an easily managed furling mainsail and furling, self-tacking jib, all controls are led to the helm position, with touch button electric winches.

Maverick - Bavaria 34

The 2017 model Bavaria 34, designed by Farr Yacht design, is a capable family cruiser available from Horizon in the British Virgin Islands. Built in Germany to a high standard, the 34 has a roller furling main and genoa, with all control lines easily to hand in the cockpit.

Nauti By Nature - Nautitech Open 40

Nautitech Open 40 catamaran  in Charter configuration with 4 double cabins.

With grey coach roof, and Mark 2 Saloon configuration, where the galley faces aft to conjoin with the cockpit. Large hull picture windows, creating an even lighter ambience in the 4 double cabins. She has two heads and showers, and a cockpit shower.

The “Open” 40 name relates to the designer’s vision of a sailing/living space unlike any other. The Mark 2 saloon has an aft-facing galley,  fridge, new larger hull windows and a saloon lounge area, with an integrated ‘occasional’  navigation station. Two large coach roof hatches provide ventilation at anchor (along with two fans, and air conditioning as standard on the Horizon spec).

Nauti Dog - Fountaine Pajot Lucia 40

The design team of Berret-Racoupeau was tasked with bringing big-boat allure to a smaller footprint, and the result is a sleek cruiser that has plenty of beam and deck space without looking boxy or awkwardly tall.

The portside L-shaped dinette can accommodate up to eight, and there is additional seating along the transom and on the starboard-side lounge. The entire cockpit is protected by a composite bimini. Nauti Dog has an elevated helm position with seating for two, with excellent visibility of the sail plan and for manoeuvering.

This Fountaine Pajot Lucia 40 is the owner’s version – the three-cabin “Maestro” with three electric heads and showers

New Beginnings - Bavaria Cruiser 37

The British ‘Sailing Today’ magazine gave the Cruiser 37 a 4/5 for sailing performance. The 37 is quick, responsive, well balanced, and you only think about rolling some sail away above 18 – 20 knots.

With a roller furling mainsail and 106% genoa, this Bavaria cruiser 37 goes from bare poles to full sail in under a minute, she is super fast to tack. Like the other Farr designs in the Bavaria lineup she has twin helm positions. This provides for excellent visibility when helming on either tack and also gives a clear walkway through to the transom.

Below decks, there is 6ft 5” of headroom, 2 double cabins.

Off The Clock - Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 349

Our Sun Odyssey 349  is a comfortable cruiser, perfect for couples and young families.

The Sun Odyssey 349 captivates with her pure lines, generous interior volume, and spacious cockpit with walk-through access to the swim platform between her twin-wheel configuration. The winged shoal keel ensures excellent performance and lift, and peace of mind mooring in Anegada! Twin rudders give fabulous tracking and ‘feedback’, making her a real joy to helm.

With three cabins, a spacious saloon, and a very functional galley, the Jeanneau Sun Odysssey 349 is perfect for a week or two aboard.

Patches - Bavaria Cruiser 41

Patches is the 2 cabin / 2 head version.

Twin wheel steering provides clear visibility on all points of sail and when anchoring or docking. There is easy access between the wheels to the giant swim platform – whether to take a dip or to board the dinghy. There is seating for six at the cockpit table.

Below deck, the Bavaria Cruiser 41 is all about luxurious comfort and generous amounts of space. Her abundant hatches and the large coachroof windows, allow generous amounts of light and ventilation into the interior, making the living quarters even more comfortable. The two double cabins, together with two ensuite heads and showers, ensure comparable facilities for the whole crew.

Paradise Found - Jeanneau 54

This Jeanneau 54 is a stunning, 54-foot flagship of the Jeanneau range. This beautiful, spacious, air-conditioned yacht offers all the extras and amenities that one would expect of a quality luxury yacht.

This design, by Philippe Briand, is easily sailed short-handed with roller mainsail and genoa.  She has twin helms affording great visibility forward under sail, the furling main and electric winches throughout allow for single-handed management of the sails. The bow thruster and state-of-the-art steering enable this 54-footer to be handled as if she were a yacht half her size, and a convenient walk-through access to the transom when at anchor.

The flexible sleeping arrangement provides the ability to sleep 8 in 3 double cabins and a skipper’s cabin.

The look and feel of an elegant lounge in the salon combine with a spaciousness that cannot be found on other yachts of comparable sizes. Guests have the option of dining inside or al fresco around the large table in the cockpit. There is also convenient walk-through access to the transom when at anchor.

Pegasus - Fountaine Pajot Astréa 42

The Fountaine Pajot Astréa 42 was conceived and designed to facilitate free-flowing movement throughout the boat, as well as linking the helm station with the interior and exterior living spaces whilst underway or at anchor.

The coach roof features a double seat at the helm station and a built-in sun lounger for enjoying idyllic days together. An electric winch makes hoisting the fathead main a piece of cake.

Her saloon and  galley transitions seamlessly with the cockpit courtesy of a large sliding door.

This Astrea has the owner’s layout, with a stateroom and en-suite head and shower occupying the entire starboard hull. There are two double cabins with en-suites on the port side.

Rendezvous - Lagoon 42

The 2019 Lagoon 42 won the best “boat of the year” awards from both Cruising World and Sail magazine in 2017.

It has an open plan saloon and cockpit with a bulkhead helm position on the port side. The cockpit has a large table, and seating for all the crew and their friends, with a cockpit fridge to keep the drinks cold.

With a high aspect mainsail and larger self-tacking genoa, the Lagoon 42 is one of the strongest performers in the range.

The luxurious Italian-designed interior comes with a superb galley and lounge area with a dining table, plus a navigation station with a view that probably beats the view from your other desk.

Rope The Wind - Lagoon 46

The Lagoon 46 catamaran combines modular cockpits front and aft with a complete cooking area at the stern. There is also practical and safe access to the sea. With its double access, the Flybridge is dedicated both to manoeuvring and relaxing. The centred helm station offers protection and visibility.

With four cabins and four heads, the owner suite is generous and equipped with an island bed for optimal comfort.  The other cabins are also spacious, in particular the front cabin where the bed is now as comfortable and spacious as the aft cabins.

Seaworthiness and performance are keywords on the Lagoon 46 catamaran.

Ruff Life - Nautitech Fly 46

The Nautitech Fly 46 charter catamaran seats 10 with ease on the upper deck and has a vast amount more space here than any other cat in her class.

The signature “Open’ concept cockpit, that combines with the saloon, to give a huge, single-level space, for true panoramic sailing and living. Uniquely, the 46 has 6 interior showers in this 4 double cabin configuration. In addition to the 4 heads with showers, each hull also has a dedicated shower cubicle. There are single berths in the forepeaks.

The yacht benefits from extra refrigeration in the galley and plenty of freezer space, along with a water maker, ice maker, and fly deck refrigerator.

SempreVerde - Nautitech 44 Open

The Nautitech 44 Open is the latest design in the Nautitech lineup to get really excited about!

This new design builds on the successful Nautitech ‘Open’ concept and so delivers a ‘wide grin’ sailing performance. The 44 Open is probably the fastest cruising catamaran available for a bareboat charter.  The Open 44 remains stable, comfortable, and downright fun to sail on and off the wind.

You have an unobstructed view of the sails and the sea thanks to the double aft helm station positions; you can communicate and enjoy the sailing with all the crew members in the cockpit.

The cockpit flows seamlessly into the saloon giving you the ideal indoor/outdoor living space for a yacht in the tropics. The galley conjoins the saloon and cockpit, so matter where the crew are, the chef is part of the socialising.

Both hulls feature 2 cabins. The aft cabin has a queen-sized island bed and the forward cabin has a forward-facing double bed.

Soca Sleigh - Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 380 (2C) (2024)

The SO 380 is a fantastic mix of comfort and performance. She is easy to handle, comfortable under sail, and has all the amenities and space aboard to make life easy and relaxed once the anchor goes down or the mooring is picked up.

Both the forward and aft double cabins offer a large amount of shelving space, as well as a hanging closet. The forward cabin has an en-suite head and shower, while the aft cabin head and shower are accessed from the saloon.

The saloon has an impressive 6ft 3in of headroom and includes a folding table with plenty of seating. The seats are long enough to create single berths.  There is a dedicated aft-facing navigation station that uses the saloon settee as a seat.

SuperFly - Nautitech Fly 46

Tola Sunrise - Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 410

With a truly inviting deck plan, sailing has never been so enjoyable aboard a 41-footer. With her powerful hull, twin helms, and rudders, the 410 perfects the art of sailing and comfort on board. Centralized winches, which can be controlled directly from the cockpit, make sailing short-handed simple and stress-free.

The side deck slopes down towards the helm station on each side so that there is no more clambering over thwarts and coamings to get to the side deck – you simply walk around the helm. The aft cabins are not compromised, as the 410 carries her beam well aft.

The design excels below decks as well. Instead of a V berth double forward, the double is offset, to give a Queen-sized double to starboard, with an en-suite head and shower on the port side. The two double berths aft share a head and shower which is on the starboard side of the saloon.

For sailors looking for a two double-cabin boat, please consider that the size of an aft cabin on this 3-cabin boat is the same as the 2-cabin version.

Horizon upgrades include a roller furling mainsail, a 3-burner stove, a generator, air conditioning, ambient lighting, and a full-coverage bimini with a dodger.

Venturi I - Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 349

From the very first glance, the Jeanneau SO 349 captivates with her pure lines, generous interior volume, and spacious cockpit, with walk-through access to the swim platform between her twin-wheel configuration.  With two double cabins, a spacious saloon, which can accommodate two single berths and a very functional galley ( including 100 litres of refrigeration space), the Jeanneau 349 is perfect for a week or two aboard.

Designed by Marc Lombard, the 349 is the perfect combination of performance, comfort, and safety at sea. Whether in the cockpit or at the helm, at anchorage or at sea, you will enjoy taking full advantage of this easy-to-handle and rewarding to sail yacht.

Wanderlust - Lagoon 42

With three double cabins, the Lagoon 42 catamaran has an open plan saloon and cockpit with a bulkhead helm position on the port side. The cockpit has a large table, and seating for all the crew and their friends, with a cockpit fridge to keep the drinks cold.

From the helm position, communication with people in the cockpit and on deck is easy. This Lagoon comes with additional cushions for the coach roof, so there are plenty of areas to relax, underway or at anchor.

The Italian-designed interior is luxurious and boasts a superb galley and lounge area with a dining table.

Tearful Kevin Costner Unveils Western Gamble ‘Horizon' at Cannes: "Sorry You Had to Clap So Long"

Kevin Costner road into Cannes with cowboy swagger, making finger pistols on the red carpet to cheers from the crowd ahead of the premiere for Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 , a partially self-financed western that is one of the biggest swings of his long career.

Inside the Grand Lumiere Theatre, Costner was greeted with extended applause before the screening, the first public exhibition of the $90 million-plus budgeted film that is planned as part one of a four-part saga.

Three hours later, as the credits rolled, the crowd delivered a standing ovation that began to taper off at around the four-and-a-half-minute mark, but then continued on for a total of around ten minutes, ending when a tearful Costner took the microphone to speak about his film, which he directed, produced, co-wrote and stars in.

"I'm sorry you had to clap so long for me to speak," Costner told the crowd, adding of the movie, "It's not mine anymore. It's yours."

Horizon is a major gamble for Costner, who has been trying to make the project for more than 30 years. After decades of trying to find studio financier, Costner instead put in $20 million of his own funds into the project, deferring his fees and taking out a lone against his Santa Barbara home. "When no one wanted to make the first one, I got the bright idea to make four," Costner said wryly in February during a press conference. He has already shot Chapter 2 , which bows just two months after Chapter One . He has two more scripts he would like to make, and has shot a few days on Chapter 3, but is in need of funds to complete the picture.

Since directing best picture winner Dances with Wolves , Costner has become synonymous with the western genre, and emerged as one of its biggest champions. He was one of the first A-list movie stars to jump to TV with the miniseries Hatfields & McCoys in 2012, before such a film-to-TV move became commonplace. And more notably, he has led the ratings juggernaut Yellowstone for five seasons, with the fate of one more season hanging in the air.

Costner is banking on his Yellowstone crowd showing up for Horizon . In a bold move, the first two parts will come out in close succession, with Chapter 1 arriving in North America on June 28 and Chapter 2 coming in August. (Warner Bros. is distributing domestically, while Universal is handling international distribution, but neither have financial skin in the game.)

Though the Cannes crowd seemed to like the film, The Hollywood Reporter chief film critic David Rooney was not high on it, writing, " Kevin Costner  has been in the saddle long enough to know the difference between a big-screen feature Western like  Dances With Wolves , a miniseries like  Hatfields & McCoys  or a longform like  Yellowstone . All those projects have done well by him and he's done well by them. His connection to the quintessential Americana genre and the rugged lands it calls home is indubitable. So why is his sprawling new frontier tale,  Horizon: An American Saga , such a clumsy slog? It plays like a limited series overhauled as a movie, but more like a hasty rough cut than a release ready for any format."

He was joined at Cannes by Horizon stars Sienna Miller, Jena Malone, Isabelle Fuhrman, Ella Hunt, Georgia MacPhail, Abbey Lee Kershaw and Wasé Chief. Costner received support for the film from notable guests including his JFK director Oliver Stone, Julianne Moore, Michelle Yeoh and Isabelle Huppert.

As for the future of Horizon , Costner ended his remarks by promising the crowd, "there's three more."

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

horizon yacht charters careers

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

horizon yacht charters careers

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

horizon yacht charters careers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

horizon yacht charters careers

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

horizon yacht charters careers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

horizon yacht charters careers

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

horizon yacht charters careers

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.

If you are obtaining a quote, information, booking travel for and/or securing or procuring a Charter (as that term is defined in Section 1 below) for more than just yourself, all references below to “Charterer” or “you” (and derivations thereof) shall be read to mean you on behalf of yourself and each individual within your group for whom you are obtaining a quote, information, booking travel for and/or securing or procuring Charter.

These Terms shall be read together and construed, to the fullest extent possible, to be in concert with any other agreement by or among Broker and Charterer. • Charter Rules and Restrictions . Additional terms and agreements will apply to your Charter Reservation and any purchase or rental of equipment or other items, supplies, provisions and travel you may select. If you are making a reservation from outside of the United States on a US credit card, your bank may convert the payment amount to your local currency and charge you a conversion fee. This means the amount listed on your credit or bank card statement may be in your local currency and therefore a different figure than the amount provided by Broker for the Charter Reservation. In addition, a foreign transaction fee may be assessed if the financial institution that issued your credit card is located outside of the United States. Booking international travel may be considered to be an international transaction by the financial institution or card company. The currency exchange rate and foreign transaction fee is determined solely by your financial institution on the day that it processes the transaction. If you have any questions about these fees or the exchange rate applied to your booking, please contact your financial institution. Broker shall not be liable to you for any such service, conversion, or exchange fee.

Broker expressly reserves the right to cancel your Charter Reservation if full payment is not timely received as set forth in the Charter Agreement.

  • Cancellation and Rescheduling . You may cancel or change your Charter Reservation as set forth in the Charter Agreement by and among you, the Charter Provider and/or Broker. Please note that some Charter Providers do not permit changes to or cancellation of reservations after they are made, or after a certain date, as indicated in the Charter Agreement. You agree to abide by the terms of the Charter Agreement with respect to your Charter Reservation. Broker will not be responsible for reimbursing Charterer for any previously tendered deposits or payments by Charterer and disclaims all liability for the failure of a Charter Provider to refund or return any such funds.
  • Credit Card Transactions and Chargebacks . If for any reason, any Charter Provider is unable to provide the Charter, or any part thereof, for which you have contracted, your remedy lies against the Charter Provider, and not against Broker. However, Broker will use reasonable efforts to assist you and Charter Provider in reaching a resolution to a dispute between you and the Charter Provider. In the event that your payment has already been transferred from Broker to Charter Provider or to an escrow account, you agree that you will not seek a chargeback against Broker for such amounts transferred. You further agree to indemnify and hold Broker harmless from and against any liability, loss, damage or expense (including without limitation, reasonable attorneys’ fees) that Broker may incur in connection with chargebacks against Broker or under the Charter Agreement and your performance thereunder. If Broker incurs any costs, including but not limited to attorneys’ fees, to recover any payments charged back by your credit card company or other financial institution, you agree that you will be liable for these costs. If your payment is declined for any reason, you agree to settle any amounts owed to Broker via money order, cashier’s check, personal check or bank/ACH transfer immediately.
  • Broker Responsibility . Broker makes arrangements with the Charter Provider. Broker additionally makes additional arrangements with other suppliers for the various components and other services that comprise your Charter (“Charter Suppliers”). Broker is not an agent of these Charter Providers or the Charter Suppliers (and the Charter Providers and Charter Suppliers are not agents of Broker). Broker expressly disclaims any liability for the actions or omissions of the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers. The Charter Providers and the Charter Suppliers reserve the right to refuse service to you at their sole discretion. Broker assumes no liability for the acts of the Charter Provider or the Charter Suppliers in refusing service. Broker is not responsible for schedule changes and does not offer compensation for those changes. Broker is not responsible under any circumstances for any injury or damages you may suffer, in connection with sea, air or ground transportation, hotel accommodations, or other travel or excursion services arranged by Broker.

You understand Broker is not the source or supplier of the Charter or other travel services you requested and acts solely as a broker for the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers. You agree that the Charter Provider and Charter Suppliers whose names appear in the information supplied to you are those who are solely responsible for providing the Charter you purchase. You consent to and request the use of the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers and agree to not hold Broker responsible should any of them: (i) fail to provide the Charter or travel services you purchased, whether or not such services are listed in the Charter Agreement or otherwise, (ii) fail to comply with any applicable law, or (iii) engage in any negligent act or omission that causes you any sort of injury, damage, delay or inconvenience.

By using Broker’s services, you waive and release any claim against Broker, its affiliated and subsidiary companies, and their respective officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents, arising out of or in connection with any loss of or damage to property or injury to any person caused by reason of (i) any defect, negligence, or other wrongful act or omission, or any failure of performance of any kind, by any Charter Provider, Charter Suppliers, or any other provider of sea, airline, hotel, ground transportation or any other travel provider connected to or otherwise associated with the Charter, (ii) any claim for inconvenience, loss of enjoyment, mental distress or other similar claim, (iii) any delayed departure, missed connection, substitute accommodation, termination of service or change in fares or rates, and (iv) overbooking, flight or other travel cancellation, lost or misconnected personal property, or any claim arising out of the air transportation portion of your travel, and (v) or any other claim arising out of or otherwise related to the Charter Agreement or services provided by the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers.

Excepting only liability that directly arises from the gross negligence or willful misconduct of Broker, you will not hold Broker responsible for any injury, damage or loss you may suffer while on a Charter, whether incurred on the Charter or in connection with any other rental, purchase, excursion or activity, regardless of the relationship of any of the foregoing with the Charter Provider or the Charter Suppliers.

  • Your Responsibility . By booking a Charter with Broker, you agree to defend and indemnify and hold harmless Broker, Charter Provider, Charter Suppliers, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees and agents, from and against any and all claims, causes of action, demands, recoveries, losses, damages, fines, penalties or other costs or expenses of any kind or nature, including but not limited to reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in connection with: (i) your breach of these Terms or the documents referenced herein; (ii) your violation of any law or rights of a third party; or (iii) your use of the Broker website.

You will review your Charter Agreement and travel documents for accuracy upon receipt. You understand that it is your responsibility to review the accuracy of all details in the Charter Reservation provided to you, and that you may contact Broker if you have any questions.

You assume full and complete responsibility for checking and verifying any and all passport, visa, vaccination, or other entry requirements of your destination(s), and all conditions regarding health, safety, security, political stability, and labor or civil unrest at such destination(s).

You understand that Broker recommends purchasing travel insurance to cover certain risks inherent in travel such as supplier bankruptcy and the inability to travel due to a medical or personal emergency.

  • No Warranties . All Charters, products, services, advice and information is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied to the fullest extent permitted under the law, including but not limited to, warranties of title or implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality or fitness for a particular purpose. Without limiting the above, no warranty or guarantee is made (i) regarding the acceptance of any reservation request or Charter Reservation; (ii) regarding the availability of Charters, or any other product and/or services through Broker; (iii) that the use of Broker’s website will be error-free; or (iv) regarding the completeness, accuracy, reliability or quality of any information, content, data, service, advice or merchandise provided by Broker or through Broker’s website.

Broker has no special knowledge regarding the Charter Provider’s or Charter Supplier’s financial condition, unsafe conditions, health hazards, weather hazards, or climate extremes at locations to which you may travel during or otherwise in connection with your Charter.

  • Limitation on Liability . In no event shall Broker, Charter Provider, Charter Suppliers, and/or their respective affiliates, or any employees, agents, officers, directors, members or managers of any of the foregoing (“Broker and Charter Releasees”), be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special or consequential damages arising out of, or in any way connected with, your access to, display of or use the Broker’s website, the Charter or services provided to you in connection with the Charter (including, but not limited to, your reliance upon opinions of the Broker), whether based on a theory of negligence, contract, tort, strict liability, consumer protection statutes, or otherwise, and even if Broker and/or any other of the Broker and Charter Releasees have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

If, despite the limitation above, Broker or the Broker and Charter Releasees are found liable for any loss or damage which arises out of or in any way connected with any of the occurrences described above, then Broker, Charter Provider, Charter Supplier and the Broker and Charter Releasees will in no event exceed, in the aggregate, the greater of (a) the Broker Fee, and (b) One-Hundred Dollars (US $100.00).

The foregoing limitation of liability reflects the allocation of risk between the parties. The limitations specified in this section will survive and apply even if any limited remedy specified in these Terms is found to have failed of its essential purpose. The limitations of liability provided in these Terms inure to the benefit of Broker and/or its providers.

The foregoing does not affect any liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

  • Limitation on Time to File Claims . ANY CAUSE OF ACTION OR CLAIM YOU MAY HAVE ARISING OUT OF RELATING TO BROKER’S SERVICES OR THE WEBSITE MUST BE COMMENCED WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR AFTER THE CAUSE OF ACTION ACCRUES, OTHERWISE, SUCH CAUSE OF ACTION OR CLAIM IS PERMANENTLY BARRED.
  • Waiver . No waiver by Broker of any term or condition set forth in these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or condition or a waiver of any other term or condition, and any failure of the Broker to assert a right or provision under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
  • Severability . If any provision of these Terms is held by a court or other tribunal of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable for any reason, such provision shall be eliminated or limited to the minimum extent such that the remaining provisions of the Terms will continue in full force and effect.
  • Governing Law and Mandatory Venue . The laws of the State of Florida govern the rights and obligations of the parties to this Agreement and the interpretation, construction and enforceability thereof. You agree that any action or proceeding initiated by Charterer against Broker shall be brought solely in the federal and state courts of Hillsborough County, Florida, and you submit to the jurisdiction of those courts and waive any objections to the exercise of personal jurisdiction over you by those courts. In the event any action or proceeding is initiated by Charterer in a court outside of Hillsborough County, Florida, Charterer agrees to pay Broker’s costs and reasonable attorneys’ fees associated with defending such action or proceeding and waives any and all defenses to the transfer of said action or proceeding, whether jurisdictional or otherwise, to a federal or state court in Hillsborough County, Florida.

Gagarin cup (khl) finals:  atlant moscow oblast vs. salavat yulaev ufa.

Much like the Elitserien Finals, we have a bit of an offense vs. defense match-up in this league Final.  While Ufa let their star top line of Alexander Radulov, Patrick Thoresen and Igor Grigorenko loose on the KHL's Western Conference, Mytischi played a more conservative style, relying on veterans such as former NHLers Jan Bulis, Oleg Petrov, and Jaroslav Obsut.  Just reaching the Finals is a testament to Atlant's disciplined style of play, as they had to knock off much more high profile teams from Yaroslavl and St. Petersburg to do so.  But while they did finish 8th in the league in points, they haven't seen the likes of Ufa, who finished 2nd.

This series will be a challenge for the underdog, because unlike some of the other KHL teams, Ufa's top players are generally younger and in their prime.  Only Proshkin amongst regular blueliners is over 30, with the work being shared by Kirill Koltsov (28), Andrei Kuteikin (26), Miroslav Blatak (28), Maxim Kondratiev (28) and Dmitri Kalinin (30).  Oleg Tverdovsky hasn't played a lot in the playoffs to date.  Up front, while led by a fairly young top line (24-27), Ufa does have a lot of veterans in support roles:  Vyacheslav Kozlov , Viktor Kozlov , Vladimir Antipov, Sergei Zinovyev and Petr Schastlivy are all over 30.  In fact, the names of all their forwards are familiar to international and NHL fans:  Robert Nilsson , Alexander Svitov, Oleg Saprykin and Jakub Klepis round out the group, all former NHL players.

For Atlant, their veteran roster, with only one of their top six D under the age of 30 (and no top forwards under 30, either), this might be their one shot at a championship.  The team has never won either a Russian Superleague title or the Gagarin Cup, and for players like former NHLer Oleg Petrov, this is probably the last shot at the KHL's top prize.  The team got three extra days rest by winning their Conference Final in six games, and they probably needed to use it.  Atlant does have younger regulars on their roster, but they generally only play a few shifts per game, if that.

The low event style of game for Atlant probably suits them well, but I don't know how they can manage to keep up against Ufa's speed, skill, and depth.  There is no advantage to be seen in goal, with Erik Ersberg and Konstantin Barulin posting almost identical numbers, and even in terms of recent playoff experience Ufa has them beat.  Luckily for Atlant, Ufa isn't that far away from the Moscow region, so travel shouldn't play a major role.

I'm predicting that Ufa, winners of the last Superleague title back in 2008, will become the second team to win the Gagarin Cup, and will prevail in five games.  They have a seriously well built team that would honestly compete in the NHL.  They represent the potential of the league, while Atlant represents closer to the reality, as a team full of players who played themselves out of the NHL.

  • Atlant @ Ufa, Friday Apr 8 (3:00 PM CET/10:00 PM EST)
  • Atlant @ Ufa, Sunday Apr 10 (1:00 PM CET/8:00 AM EST)
  • Ufa @ Atlant, Tuesday Apr 12 (5:30 PM CET/12:30 PM EST)
  • Ufa @ Atlant, Thursday Apr 14 (5:30 PM CET/12:30 PM EST)

Games 5-7 are as yet unscheduled, but every second day is the KHL standard, so expect Game 5 to be on Saturday, like an early start.

Bareboat Fleet and Rates

Maverick is our 2017 Bavaria 34 charter yacht designed by Farr Yacht design to be a capable family cruiser.

Built to a high German standard in Germany itself, Maverick has a roller furling main and genoa, with all control lines easy to hand in the cockpit. The genoa winches have been moved aft to ensure easy trimming by the helm or crew, meaning you can be under full sail in just a few minutes. As the 34 carries her beam well aft, she benefits from twin wheels – great for helming visibility, with the added bonus of giving direct access to the transom swim platform, without any clambering around a single wheel. A full Garmin electronics suite, including a cockpit chart plotter, makes navigation a breeze. The 34 is responsive on the helm, easily sailed short-handed, and is the perfect yacht for a fabulous week (or more) cruising around the islands.

Below decks, Maverick has beautiful Sipo Mahogany joinery and finishings, light oak-colored cabin sole, and cream real leather upholstery. The galley, with stove, hob, and fridge is to starboard and with three surprisingly generous double cabins, there is more than enough room for family and friends.

She can point higher than any other cruising cat (that does not have daggerboards -which consume interior space), thanks to her high aspect sail plan, tight sheeting angles, high aspect rudders, a draft of 4ft 9“and an excellent sail area to displacement ratio. The Open 44 remains stable, comfortable, and downright fun to sail on and off the wind.

Optimized cruising speeds are a result of the low wetted surface area enabled by narrow, hydrodynamic hulls below the waterline. While the hard-chined stepped hulls above the waterline give more interior living space.

You have an unobstructed view of the sails and the sea thanks to the double aft helm station positions; you can communicate and enjoy the sailing with all the crew members in the cockpit.

In a change from the design of the Open 40, the lower mainsheet track positioning is easy to adjust and see for perfect sail trim from the helm station. A low boom above the coach roof allows for extra efficiency from the mainsail, more sail area and easy access to the sail bag. The high aspect furling, and self-tacking jib, with all control lines led aft to electric winches for both sails, means the 44 Open is a breeze to sail short-handed.

There is rich joinery in the interior of the 44 Open which gives a warm and modern ambience aboard. The cockpit flows seamlessly into the saloon (the ethos of the Open concept) giving you the ideal indoor/outdoor living space for a yacht in the tropics. The galley conjoins the saloon and cockpit, so matter where the crew are, the chef is part of the socialising. The interior saloon area is cosy and offers a modular seating arrangement with cushioned cubes that can be moved around into a day bed, a footrest, or stools.

With the almost 360-degree view from the entrance of the saloon, you can happily escape (rare!) inclement weather or socialize at the cockpit table whilst still keeping an eye on your surroundings.

Thanks to a double-drawer fridge, cockpit fridge and freezer unit, there is excellent fridge capacity aboard.

Both hulls feature 2 cabins. The aft cabin has a queen-sized island bed and the forward cabin has a forward-facing double bed.

The seamlessly integrated companionway benefits from extra storage lockers. Both hulls have separate shower units and toilets allowing for easy living between guests. The toilet unit also has its own hand basin.

There is an integrated solar array on the coach roof as well as solar panels mounted on the dinghy davits. This removes the requirement to run your engine or generator to charge the lithium batteries on board on sunny days.

  • Starlink High-Speed Internet which is included for all charters in 2024
  • Nespresso Original Line Machine (remember to bring your own Nespresso pods as these can be hard to source in the BVI)
  • Three B&G Chartplotters (one at each helm station and one at the nav desk)
  • Multiple 110V outlets
  • Large lithium battery bank and large solar array (essentially eliminating the need to charge batteries using engines or generator)
  • Fresh-water hot/cold deck shower
  • Fresh-water deck hose
  • Exterior window coverings to keep the interior cool
  • Two fully finished forepeak cabins with USB outlets and lighting
  • Mast camera to make mooring ball retrieval easier
  • Two VHF radios (one handheld)
  • Separate throttle controls at each helm station to make docking and close-quarters maneuvering a breeze
