When it comes to a boat, SIZE MATTERS! With this offshore fishing catamaran, you have plenty of room to walk around, making it easy to fish comfortably. All of our Center console fishing boats offer more room then most of our competitors because we offer something, they don’t. A power catamaran that is built with absolutely NO WOOD! We have a unique system of using only high density foam and hand laid construction. Our 31′ center console power cat is lighter, which means better fuel economy, and it doesn’t effect the stability of the boat. The 31′ center console has a max of 700 hp and can house twin 225-350 hp outboard engines, getting you to the fishing grounds fast and without whiplash from high seas.

Please use our contact form at the bottom of this page, or visit our Build A Boat page to choose all of the custom upgrades you can add to this catamaran. 2023 Boat Buyers Guide: Catamarans

  • By Karl Anderson
  • December 27, 2022

Catamaran spinning circles

The popularity of the multihull (aka catamaran or cat) fishing boats has never been greater, as more and more boatbuilders enter this growing segment of the market. The inherent stability of the catamaran design rolls less with the seas, making fishing offshore less tiresome and more comfortable. Available from 20 to 48 feet, catamarans typically offer a large fishing platform with generous storage and fishing amenities. They are available in a wide variety of deck layouts, including center-consoles, dual-consoles, and even pilothouse and express variants.

Catamaran foredeck

Big Picture

The large deck area of a catamaran enables many large underdeck storage lockers and insulated fish boxes in the sponsons. This gives anglers ample room for gear and the day’s catch. The catamaran’s stability, fishability, and smooth ride in rough seas make it attractive to anglers as well as day-cruisers. A center-console version adds 360 degrees of angler access to the rail. With the dual-console design, generous seating behind a beam-to-beam windshield makes for a great family fishing-friendly setup.

Live bait is one of the most popular types of fishing in virtually every coastal zone. To do it successfully requires optimal water capacity and proper flow. The minimum size of the outflow water plumbing should be twice the size of the inflow. The plumbing should have a drain at the bottom to shed scales at the end of the day, as well as a drain at the top of the well to adjust capacity and allow overflow. Above-deck transom-mounted wells should fully flood to the lids when running to keep baits from getting beat up.

Tip: A sump box with multiple pumps in case a pump fails is the best setup for first-rate livewells. Conveniently located inflow and outflow valves make it easy to optimize the flow without tiring your bait from swimming too much in the well.

Catamaran helm

Rod Storage

Having enough rod holders is essential to be successful for opportunity fishing. Look for vertical rod storage along the console and across the back of the T-top. Many models also have rod holders along the outboard transom wall. Having plenty of gunwale rod holders for drift- and kite-fishing is helpful.

Tip: Placing adjustable swivel rod holders by Gemlux makes deep-dropping, lure-fishing and drifting even easier because they allow your rods to face the direction the baits are fishing, yet they can be swiveled back to keep rods from sticking out of the boat while running and docking.

Manufacturers often offer multiple choices for horsepower, but whatever the choice, the engines must come in pairs. For example, you might order twin outboards (one for each sponson) or four outboards (two for each sponson), but single- or triple-outboard configurations are not common on a cat. Optimal selection should be made based on user load, weight of the boat, ride comfort , performance desires, and best case for resale. It’s a rare day when you can run wide open, but having more horsepower gives better torque at slower speeds and thus better control. Running larger engines slower gives better fuel efficiency too.

Tip: When possible, choose the highest horsepower offered because it typically leads to a better resale value with a shorter sales cycle.

Power steering from engine manufacturer Optimus or SeaStar is essential with the higher horsepower required for larger boats, and it makes installing and operating the upper station in a tower far more practical and comfortable.

With the power demands of electronics, livewell pumps, stereo amps and more, it is wise to have at least two house batteries, and for larger boats, a third or fourth with a multibank charger for dockside. Each engine should have its own dedicated battery as well.

Electronics

Typically choosing the largest screen or multiple screens that will fit on the console is best-case scenario for ease of use, ergonomics, and visibility. VHF radios, stereo controller, and equipment switches for lighting, pumps, and accessories should all be integrated with greatest visibility and ease of operator reach.

A Tale of Two Hulls

A catamaran rides on pair of hulls, or sponsons, each thinner and sharper than  that of a similarly sized monohull boat. The narrow sponsons of the cat tend to slice easily through water to deliver a smooth ride, even in rough seas. At the same time, with the sponsons positioned out to the sides of the boat, cats tend to roll less, thus providing great stability to enhance crew comfort, security and safety. However, cats tend to corner more flatly than a monohull, and some hulls (but not all) tend to lean outward versus inward during a turn.

Catamaran running

Experts Say

Newer designs such as Invincible’s Morelli and Melvin-designed semi-asymmetrical sponsons eliminate some of the negatives of the cat design, such as “sneezing,” where water sprays out the front of the boat when hitting a wave. They’ve also controlled the uncomfortable “outboard lean” sensation common in older designs when in a turn. Once transitioned to a catamaran, many become true believers and preach the benefits of the design.

Editor Says: Saltwater fishing cats not only offer superb stability and smooth ride, but some also display exceptional speed and range. I recall one trip out of Key West, Florida, aboard an Invincible 40 Cat with four 350 hp outboards to the Dry Tortugas. It was a 60-mile run, and we made it there in 70 minutes. We caught more fish than our arms could bear, and then dashed back to Key West, arriving in time for cocktail hour on the same day. -Jim Hendricks, Staff Editor, Boating and Fishing Group

The CAYMAS 34 CT is the newest model in the revolutionary Caymas lineup.

SOMETIMES you need to disrupt the industry and create something new. At Caymas, we pride ourselves in innovation and customization, offering the highest level of quality for competitive fishermen and everyday anglers. The same excellence you have come to expect from Caymas is coming to the new Catamaran lineup. This is a new breed of performance and innovation tailored to hardcore anglers while keeping the family in mind.

The 34 CT won’t know or understand boundaries and will be ready to take anything Mother Nature throws its way. With the double stepped, semi-asymmetric hulls and plenty of bow flair, you can fish in comfort through water you’d never brave with another center console in its class. The 34 CT contains six insulated plumbed storage boxes, totaling 3,000 qt of storage connected to macerator pumps. With two storage compartments forward, two mid-ship, and two in the cockpit floor, you can choose where you want to utilize the space for storage versus fishboxes. A 70 gallon transom livewell is standard, with options to add two 25 gallon live wells alongside, as well as plumbing the two after insulated storage boxes as livwells, for a total of 5 bait tanks all fed by a Hooker sea chest and Hooker electric pumps.

KEEPING PACE with our 341 CC, the 34 CT features chaise lounge seating, a marine head with holding tank, and fold down bow seating that conceals within the gunnel, allowing anglers to move from stern to bow unobstructed across the flat deck and it’s 10’ 10” beam. The boat will offer dual 200 gallon fuel tanks and engine packages up to 900 total HP. And like every Caymas boat, you can customize your build to fit your own unique style to conquer the sea in competition or recreation.

Solaris 40 review: appealing mix of style and performance

  • Rupert Holmes
  • June 22, 2022

Rupert Holmes tests the Solaris 40, a chic, contemporary 40ft performance cruiser with a surprisingly spacious interior

solaris yacht 40

Product Overview

Price as reviewed:.

Helming your own yacht – or watching friends and family do so – ought to be one of the biggest pleasures of owning a boat. Along with promoting a clean, streamlined aesthetic, this was a core principle in the development of this Italian yard’s four latest models, from the Solaris 40 I tested for this report, up to the 80.

“We wanted to be very aggressive with this aspect – we want the helmsmen to feel the same benefits as sailing a racing yacht,” designer Javier Soto Acebal told me. He therefore eliminated the side decks towards the back of the cockpit, enabling the helm stations to be positioned well outboard and aft.

The result is to maximise visibility from the helm, with an excellent view of the luff of the headsail and of oncoming waves. On my first day on board, sailing upwind in 12-14 knots of true wind, at a 45-50° true wind angle, we made 6.5-7.5 knots boat speed, against an awkward and confused short head sea that would have proved testing for most boats.

Broad reaching back towards port and with the furling gennaker set the boat came alive, the seas that had impeded progress upwind now aiding us and the boat accelerating down the face of the waves at speeds of 10 knots or more.

Had there been a larger asymmetric spinnaker on board we’d undoubtedly have been measurably faster, but one of the intriguing aspects of the test boat was just how effortlessly it is set up to sail. The combination of a self-tacking jib and the furling gennaker makes for a boat that offers brisk performance, without placing big demands on its crew.

The following day we had a little less breeze – around 10 knots true – but a more comfortable sea state. This time close-hauled we still made 6.5 knots, tacking through 90°, but with a positive feel on the helm that made it easy to settle the boat into the groove. Bearing away and unfurling the gennaker we made an effortless and consistent 7-8 knots.

Soto Acebal has drawn a typical contemporary hull shape, with maximum beam carried well aft, broad forward sections and almost full length chines. Flare above the waterline, both forward and aft helps to reduce wetted surface area, thus promoting light airs performance, while twin rudders provide lots of grip, at the cost of a marginal loss of speed in very light airs.

JPK 39FC review: new sporty 40 cruiser

I have long held that bluewater cruising yachts, especially those under 40ft, have much to gain from the way today’s…

I’ve recently sailed several boats with helm stations similarly far outboard and no obvious helm seat, as there’s no side deck – nor, in some cases, provision for a seat aft of the wheel.

Solaris has addressed this with a neat folding seat, which allows you to sit facing outboard. It would be near perfect, except that the test boat had no foot chocks to brace against.

Slimline helm station pods are built into the neat cantilevered pedestals for the wheels and have space for steering compass, engine controls and a small MFD or instrument displays, without being intrusive. However, placing the wheels outboard means there’s a bigger gap between them, which can make changing sides more difficult, especially when the boat is well heeled.

Our test boat was set up for effortless fast sailing. Photo: Andreas Lindlahr/EYOTY

The high freeboard allows for a low profile coachroof and lots of flat deck space, as well as a very cool aesthetic, although the 40 is not as sleek in this respect as the larger models. Two easy steps forward and outboard of the helm stations take you from the level of the cockpit sole to the side decks. Unlike many of today’s yachts it’s also easy to step over the coaming from the cockpit bench to the side deck, avoiding a detour towards the transom.

When going forward the long stainless steel coachroof grab handles are welcome, though our test boat would also benefit from a couple of smaller ones near the companionway.

By cruising standards the cockpit feels as though it lacks protection, especially for those who plan to sail in cooler parts of the world, although the optional sprayhood would help in this respect. Even then, short benches at the forward end of the cockpit limit the number of people that can sit around the optional table.

All sail controls, including the German mainsheet, are led to two pairs of winches ahead of the helm stations. One of the starboard winches of the test boat was upgraded to electric power, which takes the effort out of tasks such as hoisting the mainsail.

solaris yacht 40

Low coachroof and coamings mean the cockpit lacks protection. Photo: Andreas Lindlahr/EYOTY

The winches cannot be reached to trim sails while steering, but with today’s top-notch autopilots that no longer needs to be an issue. A useful advantage of this approach is it allows the winches to be positioned where there’s plenty of room to work them.

The optional mainsheet traveller is deeply recessed in the cockpit sole just aft of the winches. It looks neat, but means the sheet slices across a part of the cockpit in which crewmembers tend to be present during manoeuvres. As a result the traveller needed careful attention in every tack or gybe, so I’d be tempted by the standard arrangement, with the sheet led through a fixed block on the cockpit sole.

On our test boat the traveller problem was compounded by the low boom, which sweeps across the cockpit below 6ft. However, owners could specify a mainsail with a slightly higher clew to avoid this.

By today’s standards the mast is relatively well forward in the boat, which makes the self-tacking jib quite a high aspect ratio sail. There’s also no control of the jib sheet lead, other than the different holes in the clew board of the sail, which makes adjustment to control twist while underway difficult without temporarily furling the sail.

On deck stowage includes two useful smallish cockpit lockers under the aft end of the side benches, one of which has enough space for a liferaft. However, a corner of the rope bags has to be detached to open each of these lockers.

A big lazarette aft, accessed via a large hatch in the cockpit sole, gives access to the quadrants and tie bar for the steering. It also has space to stow the optional neat folding carbon fibre passerelle. The wide fold-down bathing platform reveals the gas locker and stowage for the boarding ladder.

The remainder of deck stowage for three-cabin boats in an oversized chain locker, which has enough space to stow all the fenders. Two-cabin versions add a big, deep cockpit locker to starboard.

High freeboard and big hull windows create a bright interior. Photo: Andreas Lindlahr/EYOTY

Solaris 40 below decks

The high freeboard helps to create a lot of volume below decks and the interior is therefore larger and more comfortable than the sleek external appearance might suggest. The conventional two- or three-cabin layout includes a proper forward facing chart table to starboard, although this means the settee ahead of it is not quite long enough to function as a sea berth.

There’s a lot of wood veneer in the saloon, yet it doesn’t feel dark, as the relatively slim coachroof windows are augmented by large hull windows.

solaris yacht 40

The forward owner’s cabin is huge by the standards of most 40ft performance cruisers. Photo: Andreas Lindlahr/EYOTY

The owner’s cabin benefits greatly from the extra beam in the forward sections of the hull. This will undoubtedly swing the balance for many buyers – there are few performance cruisers of this size that offer as much space here. There’s a full-size peninsula bed, as well as plenty of floor space, even with the optional en suite, plus reasonable stowage. Large hull windows help provide plenty of natural light and a good view of the outside world.

Aft cabins are smaller, but have plenty of width, although natural light and ventilation is more restricted. The aft heads is nicely appointed, with a cool carbon counter top, but the three-cabin boats lack a separate shower stall.

The L-shaped galley has good worktop space, deep fiddles and a proper crash bar across the cooker. There’s also a 1.5 bowl sink and both top-opening and front-opening fridges. Construction is of vinylester sandwich, with the foam core glued in under vacuum, then the remaining laminate hand laid. As it’s not infused this is a fairly heavy boat and displacement is among the highest of performance cruisers of this length. Nevertheless, fore and aft bulkheads are fully bonded in and, even when upwind in a confused sea the structure appeared stiff, with no undue squeaks or creaks.

Not long ago 40ft performance cruisers were a key part of the market, but it’s now a decade since firms that used to dominate this space, including Beneteau, Elan, J/Boats and Dehler, have launched an all-new fast cruiser of this size. Yet yacht design has taken big steps forward during that time – today’s boats are generally faster, easier to handle and have significantly more interior space. The Solaris 40 is therefore welcome, offering an appealing mix of style, performance and spacious accommodation. It’s a design that offers the potential for fast cruising, with easy and enjoyable passages. While many aspects of the boat are geared for sailing in Mediterranean waters, this design will also be in its element further afield, although tankage is on the small size for extended periods of autonomy. What about the aim to make a cruising yacht that’s as much fun to helm as a thoroughbred racer? Solaris has done a good job in this respect, with my main reservation relating to displacement, which inevitably has a knock-on effect on performance. In other respects, as all boats are built to order, owners can choose exactly the specification they want. The small items I noted that might benefit from improvement would therefore be easy to rectify.

A new launch for 2021, the new Solaris 40 is the smallest in the Solaris fleet but has all the DNA of her larger Solaris Yachts sister ships. Like her bigger sisters she is designed by Javier Soto Acebal. Amongst the yard’s latest designs, the hull features the dreadnought bow, forward chine and full beam carried aft with a soft chine, so overall a powerful hull with high form stability. Her innovative deck layout offers the helms person unrivalled visibility – the twin wheels being set well outboard, sail handling in common with the rest of the range is a breeze with all controls lead aft below deck to a bank of jammers and winch leaving them clutter free. The standard sail plan incorporates a self-tacking genoa and conventional main, the self-tacking track is recessed into the foredeck. Both genoa sheet and mainsheet are lead aft via the jammers thus close to hand for the helms person.

At anchor, she benefits from the drop down transom with stainless swim ladder allowing easy access to the water/dinghy. Below decks, the well-appointed Roseo designed interior is in keeping with the usual Solaris clean lines.

Similar to the Solaris 44, there is plenty of internal volume creating a bright and airy interior. With a classic L-shaped galley to port, there are a number internal configurations and a choice of interior finishes. The 40 shares all the same structural advantages of her larger sisters, such as composite main and forward bulkheads, fully laminated bulkheads with no inner mouldings, E-glass and carbon fibre longitudinal and transverse structural floor beams – resin bonded to the hull, stainless steel mast base for the keel stepped rig above the keel and full-width spreaders with composite chain plates.

Confidence is the new Solaris 40 – the market obviously approves with over five yachts ordered off plan prior to the official launch.

The Solaris 40 was a brand new model in 2021 and she packs all the punch, looks and of course, comfort of her bigger sisters. The main idea behind the Solaris 40 was to incorporate the latest advances along with keeping the stylish Solaris lines – which Javier Soto Acebal has created throughout the whole Solaris fleet.

Her chine and full beam run all the way aft creating a powerful hull with an impressive level of form stability. This hull shape allows for twin rudders and therefore the helms are set well outboard giving a great view to the helmsman down the deck even with the sprayhood up. Forward of the helms, her cockpit is laid out intuitively, from convenient steps up on to the side decks, to the position of her winches – everything has been incredibly well thought through.

The sail plan also aligns with her big sisters, with self-tacking jib and conventional main. The track for the self-tacker is recessed below the deck and the main sheet runs back to a single point in the cockpit so no mainsheet track to stumble over in the cockpit. All control lines are led back to the cockpit under the deck to a bank of jammers on each side keeping things simple and leaving the decks clutter free.

Below decks, there are 2 layout options or either 3 or 2 cabins – both options come with 2 heads which is a nice luxury on a 40ft yacht. The layout is fairly standard with owner’s cabin forward with en-suite and either 1 or 2 cabins aft with day heads. The galley is an L shape to port allowing for a large saloon and chart table to starboard. A total of 6 port lights create a lot of natural light and of course, there is a good choice of interior finishes to suit your style.

This brand new design has proved incredibly popular with 5 yachts ordered off plan and the number keeps on growing.

SOLARIS 40 OPEN

photo of Solaris 40 Open

The new Solaris 40 Open will make its North American debut at the 2022 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. The Italian shipyard has set a new standard for its 43-foot luxury day yacht (also reminiscent of a lobster boat with its v-shaped hull and high bow rise).

SPECIFICATIONS

  • Model Open Series
  • Length Overall 39.27'
  • Beam 12.63'
  • Max Draft 2' 4"
  • Displacement 22,332 lbs. (Load Disp.)
  • Water Capacity 60 gallons
  • Fuel Capacity 220 gallons

The new Solaris 40 Open emphatically sets a new standard for a 43-footer in volume, layout design, and performance. "Owners can expect a soft, dry, but exhilarating ride," said Juan of the new 40 Open. "When powered with the Volvo Penta D6 440 engines, the 40 Open can reach speeds above 40 knots and cruise very comfortably at 27 knots. This is a luxuriously comfortable yacht that is a perfect fit for the South Florida lifestyle." The 40 Open uses the Volvo penta sterndrives rather than the IPS pods, resulting in a fast, agile experience behind the steering wheel.

There are multiple variations of the 40 Open for owners to customize their own when building a new boat. As you can see below, there is a version with 2 cabins, as well as a single cabin version. The single cabin version gaines an extra-large storage room that can be customized for your needs. In both versions, the master suite is located in the bow.

The Solaris 40 Open also comes in a variety of colors. Brunello Acampora and Victory Design, along with the Solaris Shipyard Power design team, is credited with creating this strikingly beautiful yacht.

The popular walk-around deck design allows for easy movement on the 40 Open between the bow and stern sunbeds. Underneath the aft sunbed are three large, hidden lockers that can stow all of your gear. There is plenty of space on board for multiple guests to never feel too crowded. The 40 Open can be equipped with a sleek-looking T-Top, but looks just as elegant without one.

Three captain's chairs provide comfortable seating during longer trips. Whether you're cruising down the coast to the Keys or crossing the Gulf Stream to Bimini, the 40 Open will take you there safely and comfortably. Although designed for luxury day boating near a sandbar or on-water restaurant, the 40 Open has a hull shape that has proven to be exceptionally seaworthy. Behind the helm station and captain's chairs is an al fresco dining table for up to six guests.

The master suite (seen below) features a large, double-sized berth with light woods, open hatches for ventilation and light, and separate head/shower. If the 2-cabin version is chosen, the guest cabin features side-by-side bunks.

For information on pricing, availability, and customization options of all Solaris models, please contact Juan Morillo at 305-917-3758 or by email at [email protected] .

The boat features a bow with sharp edges and lines to keep the deck dry and the boat sailing flawlessly. You will find that you have great stability whether you are anchored, or you are cruising at top speeds. This boat does not need stabilizers, which makes it nice to not have to worry about.

Other competitors have planing hulls that may cause uneven roll in the water. Solaris has designed their boats to combat this and with the 40 Open hull, you can cruise without any roll and steadily using the displacement mode.

Solaris Power is a brand that was created in 1974 and has since been creating coupe and open yachts for sea exploration. Starting in 2008, Solaris began offering motor yachts ranging in size from 44 feet to 100 feet. The company is proud to be able to present the 2023 Solaris 40 Open and include it in its lineup of high-quality boats.

Solaris Boats has a manufacturing facility by the sea, which allows them to ensure that all boats are made perfect. They conduct sea trials that verify each boat’s ability to perform. By keeping the manufacturing on-site and being a part of every boat that is built, Solaris can guarantee that every boat owner will enjoy a wonderful sailing experience on the water.

Ready to learn more? Let’s go ahead and get started.

Interior and Accessories

The new 2023 Solaris 40 Open was designed to set new standards within the category and offer you a large layout with great design elements. The exterior styling is sharp, bold, and sleek making it a real head-turning vessel. You do have six different colors to choose from.

Starting out at the stern, you will find plenty of deck space designed to serve as your line of access directly to the water. Here, there is a sunbathing mattress that allows you to relax and catch some of the sun’s rays. Additional stern seating gives your passengers a place to sit.

The deck is on floor level with the cockpit for a smooth transition. As you move towards the rear of the boat, you will be greeted with a sun deck that houses three large storage lockers underneath. The sun deck features a settee on both sides that surrounds a table sitting right in the middle. The table makes for a great place to serve food and drinks while socializing with your friends.

The overhead hardtop keeps the settee and table area shaded nicely, so you do not have to worry about feeling overheated on a hot day. The hardtop is outfitted with navigation lights, a mast, and an acoustic alarm.

Directly underneath the hardtop is the cockpit and helm, which is home to the captain of the boat. Captains and co-captains will enjoy a complete 360-degree view thanks to the low-profile dashboard. No matter where you find yourself on the boat, you will have an almost unobstructed view. The best seat in the house is right from the helm/cockpit.

Solaris definitely kept the captain in mind when creating the 2023 Solaris 40 Open. The entire console area is geared towards making steering the boat as easy and simple as possible. You will find a chart plotter, joystick, and buttons that make up the majority of controls here. Dual large console screens show you everything you need to see about your boat and its performance. A provided 7-inch navigation display will keep you heading in the right direction.

A nice addition for captains and co-captains are the three pilot chairs. These chairs are plush and designed to be as comfortable as possible seeing as this area is the crème de la crème of views.

Creating a social space is easy with the available seating on the deck and the outdoor kitchen. The kitchen includes a covered worktop area, a refrigerator, storage cabinets, a trash receptacle, and a sink.

You do have two main layout choices when it comes to the 2023 Solaris 40 Open. Version A includes two cabins while Version B includes one cabin. The owner’s cabin will always be located at the forward, no matter which version you choose.

Version A features two cabins, which include the owner’s cabin and then a secondary cabin area. The owner’s cabin includes a double berth with a storage cabinet and a wardrobe with storage shelves inside. There is plenty of lighting inside the cabin and a porthole that opens.

Included in the owner’s cabin is the owner’s bathroom which includes an electric head and a detached shower. There is a sink, mirror, and lights included in this space.

The secondary cabin includes two twin berths, lighting, and storage space.

Version B eliminates the two twin berths and leaves the area open to be used as a storage only space. This version does include the same amenities as the owner’s cabin in version A.

Additional Innovations Included on the 2023 Solaris 40 Open

Below, we will discuss some of the additional innovations that you can find on the Power lineup including the 2023 Solaris 40 Open.

Oversized Sun Beds

As we mentioned, the 2023 Solaris 40 Open includes a sun bed. All Power models have the bow sun bed and an aft sun deck.

The deck of the 40 Open has lateral walkways that allow you to move freely between the stern and bow without any issue.

Fold-Out Bulwarks

All Open models include fold-out bulwarks that extend the cockpit deck space by 20 percent, giving you more room.

The aft sun deck opens up to reveal a large garage and storage area. Here, you can store your water toys and access them whenever you are ready to launch them.

Hydraulic Gangway

The hydraulic gangway transforms into a swim ladder that easily lowers into the water giving you and your passengers an easy way to enter and exit the water.

The 2023 Solaris 40 Open comes standard as a gas engine option and includes dual Volvo Penta V6 280 HP engines. These engines deliver a max speed of 31 knots. The optimum cruising speed for the V6 engines is 21 knots.

When it comes to engines, the gas Volvo Penta V6s are the standard equipped outboards; however, you do have the choice to change out the engines. The additional options include three different choices, all of which are diesel engines. The diesel options include dual Volvo Penta D4 300 HP engines, dual Volvo Penta D6 380 HP engines, or dual Volvo Penta D6 440 HP engines.

When looking at your additional engine options, the following are the max speeds: the D4 is 30 knots, the D6 380 HP is 33 knots, and the D6 440 HP is 41 knots. The optimum cruising speeds for each option are as follows: 20 knots for the D4, 23 knots for the D6 380 HP, and 27 knots for the D6 440 HP.

The hull coupled with the performance of the engines is what makes the 40 Open a great choice. You will find that the boat offers a low fuel consumption, which gives you maximum range and a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. You do not have to worry about wasting fuel, which means less time spent stopping to refuel the tanks.

Maneuvering the boat is easy thanks to the joystick. You can dock the boat flawlessly without the help of anyone else. The joystick is comfortable in your hand and offers you control.

The engine exhaust is in the propeller pods and there are no rotating masses on the shaft line of the 2023 Solaris 40 Open, which means you do not have to worry about a noisy ride. The engine produces minimal noise and vibration.

  • Spacious sun deck
  • Option of one or two cabins
  • Head with a separate shower
  • Plenty of storage space
  • Panoramic view from the captain and co-captains chairs

Pricing and Specifications

The Solaris Yacht 40′

Solaris 40

The Solaris 40 has the same dimensions as the 44 foot yachts of other shipyards. She is the only yacht on the market that has been developed with the aim of providing the comfort of a 45-foot yacht. She has a large owner’s cabin with a central double bed and a large bathroom with separate shower cabin and wet case. The volume in the guest cabin is unique; the large storage spaces allows for large trips. The deck is extremely tidy and wide; the hatches are flush and all linen and halyards run under deck into the cockpit. On this yacht you will find a lot of freedom of movement and generous space for relaxed times but also the right ergonomics and enough storage space to tackle big journeys safely. The chain plates are laminated into the hull. All bulkheads are laminated like the furniture on to the hull and deck. Just as on her big sisters, structural and material continuity is maintained. With the Solaris 40, Solaris introduces a standard in the class over 40 feet, which can otherwise only be found on larger yachts. The yacht is very easy to handle and designed for a small crew. The Solaris 40 is a cruiser racer according to ORC; Javier Soto Acebal is responsible for her water lines and the sailing plan. Sophisticated owners who attach great importance to strong, solid structures, performance, safety and great manufacturing quality will find their optimal partner at sea in this model.

Francis scott key bridge in baltimore collapses after ship struck it, sending vehicles into water.

BALTIMORE — A portion of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed after a large boat collided with it early Tuesday morning, and multiple vehicles fell into the water. Authorities were trying to rescue at least seven people.

A large vessel crashed into the bridge, catching on fire before sinking and causing multiple vehicles to fall into the Patapsco River, according to a video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“All lanes closed both directions for incident on I-695 Key Bridge. Traffic is being detoured,” the Maryland Transportation Authority posted on X.

Mayor Brandon M. Scott and Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr. posted that emergency personnel were responding and rescue efforts were underway.

Emergency responders were searching for at least seven people believed to be in the water, Kevin Cartwright, director of communications for the Baltimore Fire Department, told The Associated Press around 3 a.m.

He said agencies received 911 calls around 1:30 a.m. reporting a vessel traveling outbound from Baltimore that had struck a column on the bridge, causing it to collapse. Multiple vehicles were on the bridge at the time, including one the size of a tractor-trailer.

“Our focus right now is trying to rescue and recover these people,” Cartwright said. He said it’s too early to know how many people were affected but called the collapse a “developing mass casualty event.”

Cartwright said it appears there are “some cargo or retainers hanging from the bridge,” creating unsafe and unstable conditions, and that emergency responders are operating cautiously as a result.

“This is a dire emergency,” he said.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge opened in 1977.
