Vast 72 - a new concept yacht which changes all the rules

Today we will sneak a peek into the innovative concept of the 72-meter-long superyacht Vast, which was created as a work of Ocean Independence studio…

The exterior of the yacht is signed by designers Christopher Seymour and Carl Esch, while the interior design was led by Theodoros Fotiadis. The modern superyacht has an inverted bow and really interesting lines, representing a perfect balance between form and function, with numerous possibilities for enjoyment, luxurious spaces for outdoor entertainment and comfortable interiors.

Vast 72 yacht shows us geometric lines and wide use of glass. As Carl Esch, who managed its design, says: "We designed the initial look for Vast 72 together with our design partner, Christopher Seymour, with a clear vision of what we wanted to create - a sharp, modern and unique miracle, outside and inside."

The design has focused much of its attention on entertainment, which is evident through the numerous spaces dedicated to it, such as those at the stern, the beach club, the main deck and the bow. Unlike many other yachts, Vast 72 contains social spaces and a dining area on the main deck. The magnificent interior also includes a large dining table and loggia, while just behind is a spiral staircase with a central glass elevator.

"The design has an Art Deco character, which is refreshed with modern notes that come from fabrics, works of art and decorative furniture design. The walls represent flat, clean forms, while the inlays in the form of flamingos and circles add character and heritage to the whole story. All this is combined with a feeling of airiness and an abundance of natural light that enters through windows and openings in the form of modular balconies. It is an interior that is not only beautiful, but speaks for itself, offering a refreshing feeling, wrapped in a serious and robust Art Deco style. Balanced, exceptional and new, it is a design that cannot be strictly categorized", explains Theodoros Fotiadis.

The concept of a superyacht puts the owner's apartment in the centre of attention, as well as a smaller guest cabin designed for children. In order for all guests to have the opportunity to enjoy exceptional comfort, the yacht offers four guest cabins on the lower deck, each with its own private bathroom and direct access to the beach club. In total, the yacht offers enough space for 12 people in six cabins and fifteen crew members.

The yacht also includes a gym, three swimming pools, four jet skis and other water toys, along with a submarine and a touch-and-go heliport. What else do you need for optimal enjoyment on the high seas?

Vast coin collection of Danish magnate is going on sale a century after his death

The vast coin collection of a Danish butter magnate is set to finally go to on sale a century after his death, and could fetch up to $72 million

COPENHAGEN, Denmark — The vast coin collection of a Danish butter magnate is set to finally go on sale a century after his death, and could fetch up to $72 million.

Lars Emil Bruun, also known as L.E. Bruun, stipulated in his will that his 20,000-piece collection be safeguarded for 100 years before being sold. Deeply moved by the devastation of World War I, he wanted the collection to be a reserve for Denmark, fearing another war.

Now, over a century since Bruun’s death at the age of 71 in 1923, New York-based Stack’s Bowers, a rare coin auction house, will begin auctioning the collection this fall, with several sales planned over the coming years.

On its website the auction house calls it the “most valuable collection of world coins to ever come to market.” The collection’s existence has been known of in Denmark but not widely, and it has has never been seen by the public before.

“When I first heard about the collection, I was in disbelief,” said Vicken Yegparian, vice president of numismatics at Stack’s Bowers Galleries.

“We’ve had collections that have been off the market for 100 years plus,” he said. “But they’re extremely well known internationally. This one has been the best open secret ever.”

Born in 1852, Bruun began to collect coins as a boy in the 1850s and ‘60s, years before he began to amass vast riches in the packing and wholesaling of butter.

His wealth allowed him to pursue his hobby, attending auctions and building a large collection that came to include 20,000 coins, medals, tokens and banknotes from Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

Following the devastation of World War I and fearing another war, Bruun left strict instructions in his will for the collection.

“For a period of 100 years after my death, the collection shall serve as a reserve for the Royal Coin and Medal Collection,” it stipulated.

“However, should the next century pass with the national collection intact, it shall be sold at public auction and the proceeds shall accrue to the persons who are my direct descendants.”

That stipulation didn’t stop some descendants from trying to break the will and cash in, but they were not successful. “I think the will and testament were pretty ironclad. There was no loophole,” Yegparian said.

Yegparian estimates some pieces may sell for just $50, but others could go for over $1 million. He said potential buyers were already requesting a catalogue before the auction was announced.

The collection first found refuge at former Danish royal residence Frederiksborg Castle, then later made its way to Denmark’s National Bank.

Denmark’s National Museum had the right of first refusal on part of the collection and purchased seven rare coins from Bruun’s vast hoard before they went to auction.

The seven coins — six gold, one silver — were all minted between the 15th and 17th centuries by Danish or Norwegian monarchs. The cost of over $1.1 million was covered by a supporting association.

“We chose coins that were unique. They are described in literature as the only existing specimen of this kind,” said senior researcher Helle Horsnaes, a coin expert at the national museum.

“The pure fact that this collection has been closed for a hundred years makes it a legend,” Horsnaes said. “It’s like a fairytale.”

Ocean Independence has revealed a 107.35 metre DynaRig sailing yacht concept named Project Sonata.

Advertised with a build time of 38 months, Project Sonata was designed by Valentin Design, which was briefed to “create a buildable, eco-friendly superyacht of tomorrow” in collaboration with German shipyard Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven.

Built from a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, Project Sonata will be powered by twin 1100kW electric engines for a top speed of 17 knots and cruising speed of 15 knots.

Project Sonata boasts “strong, confident lines” which “merge with sleek surface transitions,” the broker said, resulting in “a truly unique design”.

Elsewhere, the yacht features battery packs capable of powering the hotel service for 12 hours without the need for generators and a retractable keel for a reduced draft. Further energy can be recovered through the propellers while sailing.

Video of Suspect in Ella Adler Hit-and-Run Case Has People up in Arms

The Arena Media Brands, LLC and respective content providers to this website may receive compensation for some links to products and services on this website.

The investigation into the shocking and tragic death of a South Florida teenager has made great strides over the past week. On May 11, 15-year-old Ella Adler was struck and killed in a hit-and-run boating accident while wakeboarding with friends near Miami. Witnesses couldn't clearly identify the boater, and they could only give a general description of the boat.

Despite having little information to go off of, Florida authorities made quick progress. Three days after Adler's death, police found the boat involved, and after discovering the following security camera footage, they now consider the boat's owner the prime suspect. However, this bizarre footage only raises more questions than it answers.

This man, @abc7chicago reports, is 78-year-old Carlos Guillermo Alonso, and this security camera footage from his Coral Gables home appears to implicate him in the fatal hit-and-run that killed Ella Adler . As Alonso docks his boat, he is calm, unhurried, even peaceful.

He doesn't look like a person who killed someone mere minutes prior.

Related: Florida Authorities Searching for Boaters Who Fatally Hit Teenager in Miami

That's because, according to Alonso's lawyer, he wasn't even aware that he might have hit someone- much less fatally so.

"He was out on the water alone that day... He had no knowledge of the accident until law enforcement came knocking at his door," attorney Lauren Krasnoff responded in a video statement. She went on to state that if Alonso knowingly hit anything, especially another person, he "absolutely would have stopped."

According to ABC 7 New York , Alonso is fully cooperating with the investigation, and so far, charges have not been publicly announced. Krasnoff, who described her client as a "very experienced boater," relayed that Alonso was "beyond devastated to learn that he may have been involved in this awful tragedy."

A Fatal Lapse of Boat Safety

Alonso's involvement in the fatal boating accident in Key Biscayne has not been definitively proven, and even if he was involved, his calm demeanor on camera seems to suggest a complete lack of awareness.

Early on in the investigation, maritime attorney Michael Winkleman told NBC Miami that he found it "extremely hard to believe" that the boater would have been unaware of the accident, but the security camera video potentially tells a different story. Other experienced boaters believed that Alonso could have hit Adler without realizing it.

"Unless you have operated a big boat or been on one, you won't know there is a lot of blind spots," said TikTok user @jslays904. "It's very easy to hit someone while in the water; that’s why when you snorkel or dive you have a flag up."

People argued potential fault on both sides. Some wondered if Adler's wakeboarding companions might have neglected to follow fundamental boat safety practices leading up to the accident.

"There should have been a spotter on the boat who instantly had the driver abruptly stop and turn around, and they should have had a flag on the back, etc., to warn others," said @aubs.345.

Still others questioned whether Alonso's age could have been a contributing factor to the accident, if he was involved.

"A man his age hit my car while parking. He had absolutely no clue he'd hit it. Tried to give me his license as insurance info," said @gigglesandgrumps. "At a certain age, operating machinery isn’t safe due to lack of awareness."

The more that this investigation uncovers, the more heartbreaking it becomes. While Ella Adler's grieving family and friends deserve some semblance of closure and justice for their loss, it's sobering to think that the man who may have killed her had no clue what he'd done.
