We are getting ready to announce a designation change for the NW42

Less than three years ago we kicked off the design program for the Northwest Trawler line. Throughout the process, we conducted ongoing discussions with our customers and continued to explore the latest innovations with our design and manufacturing team. During this time the boat we have always referred to as the NW42 underwent a remarkable metamorphosis. The result is a vessel with an overall tip to tip length closer to 46 feet (including bow roller and anchor) and a beam just shy of 16 feet.

As many of you know, we recently took Hull #1, “Nor’wester” , down the Pacific Coast from her home port in Anacortes , Washington to LaPaz , Mexico , participating in the FUBAR Odyssey that served as an extended sea trial. During that voyage it became obvious that our NW42 performed more like a much larger trawler. She has evolved into a very capable coastal cruiser handling beautifully even in very rough seas. We closely followed the CAD model as she grew up and went into production but now that she’s in the water we are experiencing first hand the full impact of countless incremental improvements. Given these facts and observations, plus the many comments we’ve had from guests on board, we now believe that the designation NW45 more accurately reflects her actual size and bearing.

2007 has been a great year of celebration for us. As it draws to a close we will be updating our website and printed material to reflect the change to NW45 and wanted to give you the inside scoop before this change goes public.

In early 2016, Northwest and Seattle Yachts agreed to merge their dealership and brokerage activities into one entity and operate under the name “Seattle Yachts”. Northwest will continue to be the brand of boats. Now Seattle Yachts has two offices to serve our client’s needs, Seattle and Anacortes.

Northwest 75 Details

The Northwest 75 twin cockpit motor yacht is the flagship model of the Northwest Yachts fleet and to say she is impressive is a gross understatement. Everything that an owner of a trawler motor yacht or an expedition yacht desires from safety, hull and deck strength, economical fuel efficiency, superior handling, and luxurious accommodations inside is found standard on the Northwest 75. And with two cockpits built into the layout, the opportunities for relaxing or dining outdoors are abundant. The interior of the Northwest 75 is perhaps the most impressive with luxury appointments throughout that satisfy even the most discerning yacht owner. The master stateroom boasts a king-sized berth with a Handcraft pillow top mattress and a hydraulic lift under the mattress to access storage spaces underneath. There is a center island with drawers as well as two hanging lockers for extra clothes on extended journeys. The master head is inside the stateroom and features Corian countertops and sinks with Grohe fixtures. Nearby the VIP stateroom, also complete with its own head, has a tapered queen-sized berth with the same hydraulic mattress platform and storage spaces. The third guest stateroom on board additionally has its own private head and features two single berths. There is also a captain’s cabin in the pilothouse as well as a pilothouse head.

Powered by twin MAN V8 1000hp engines, the Northwest 75 will achieve a top end speed of 20-knots, which makes this expedition-style yacht competitive with all similar yachts in its class. When cruising at 10 knots with extra fuel reserves and the genset running, owners can expect a range on the Northwest 75 to be around 1,200 nautical miles. About NRS: Northwest River Supplies History and Company

Celebrating 50 years on the water.

When an idealistic business professor named Bill Parks set out in 1972 to prove that the principles he taught in the classroom could work in the real world, he had no trouble deciding what kind of startup to launch. Bill was a river runner, and he wanted to help others enjoy the sport he’d come to love so much. Starting with $2,000 from his savings, he stocked an inventory of boating gear in his garage and typed out the first Northwest River Supplies catalog.

Bill was drawn to rivers, to the beautiful places they carried him, to the challenge of running rapids, and to the people and experiences that made every trip a memory to cherish. Until he passed away peacefully at the age of 88, Bill was running rivers and working to help others pursue their passions on the water. And the nearly 100 employee-owners at NRS are committed to the same singular vision. What draws us to water is what drives us every day.

Taking Ownership

As Bill Parks neared his 80th birthday, he knew he needed to consider the legacy he wanted to leave behind. He could have sold NRS to the highest bidder, taken his money and floated off into the sunset, but that wasn’t his style. Instead, Bill helped finance a deal to sell the company to his employees. In 2014, NRS became 100% employee owned.

Employee ownership has done more than improve the financial futures of NRS employees; it has made us a better company. We’ve learned how eager workers can become caring owners, how small ideas can lead to big improvements, how a stake in the outcome makes every decision more meaningful. Every NRS employee-owner is personally responsible for the company’s performance, from customer service to dealer support to product development and quality control.

Working Together

In the early days of rafting and kayaking, boaters had to work together to outfit trips, keep gear serviceable and, of course, get down the river safely. Bill enjoyed that aspect of boating, and he wanted to build that same kind of culture into his company.

We’ve grown a lot since Bill hand-typed the first NRS catalog four decades ago, but we’ve always remained true to his original ideals. We pride ourselves on working together to accomplish tasks, and everyone, from Bill down to the newest hire in the warehouse, shares responsibility for ensuring the highest standards of quality, service and integrity. We’ve never had a lot of managers, protocols, or official policies. Instead, we’ve tried to empower individuals to make the right decisions for the good of the customer and the company.

Sunrise Yachts, a luxury yacht building company which is based in Turkey, has been made a main sponsor of next year’s 2011 Moscow International Boat Show (MIBS). The four-day Russian yacht show event is currently scheduled to run from April 14-17 at the Moscow’s Crocus exhibition centre.

MIBS is organised by the ITE Group and it is one of Russia’s leading boat shows and is an internationally recognised superyacht event. The show covering everything from small parts and accessories to large superyacht with over 9,000 people and 178 exhibitors attended the last year show.

The Paolo Scanu-designed Sunrise 45 yacht is an ocean-going cruising yacht that was released in 2009 to much acclaim at this was the group’s first-ever model.

Sunrise Yachts was founded in 2007 by the German entrepreneur Herbert P Baum along with the French-British yacht builder Guillaume Roché. The luxury yacht group is based in Antalya, Turkey and utilises a 10,000sq m shipyard facility. Sunrise has two sheds measuring 100m (328ft) x 16m (53ft), as well as a 70m (230ft) x 16m (53ft) fully acclimatized paint shed that can accommodate new-build and refit projects up to 65m (213ft) in length and 1,200 tonnes displacement.

Along each side of the yacht-building facility, space is available for long-term sub-contractors with the latest equipment and logistics capabilities, along with air-conditioned storage, ventilation and extraction plants. The shipyard is organized as an “assembler,” based loosely on the car industry’s model, with a small, yet powerful project management team charged with running all the in-house long-term sub-contractors.
