Stuck for something to do on your New Forest holiday – Hire a Kayak from us!

We have a growing hire fleet of sit on top kayaks, ideal for individual paddlers, or family kayaks that can take 2 adults and a child. All of Lymington Kayaks’ boats have been specially chosen for their stability and straight line performance. Kayak Hire Lymington is the perfect way to spend a few hours out on the water! There’s lots to see as you take a leisurely paddle along the Lymington River – meandering through an eclectic mix of different boats on their river moorings and past Lymington’s two prestigious Marinas.

For the more novice kayaker, you can head briefly up river under the railway bridge where you can practice your technique in quiet shallow waters, before heading down river. Then, as you head down towards the protected saltgrass marsh, you may see a wide range of wildlife including, gulls, terns and various waders and diving birds. You may also see bass jumping out of the water and mullet eating the algae off of the hulls of moored boats. The river has also been visited by seals and porpoises in the past – so keep an eye out for Sammy the Seal!

For the more adventurous of you, once you have paddled past the wave screens you can head west into Oxey Lake, or East into Pylewell Lake, raft up for a spot of picnic lunch before returning to Lymington Quay – what could be better!?

Is there a known problem with this chandlery? Pump ordered on Wednesday for delivery on Friday hadn't turned up by the following Monday - nor was there a shipping/track EMail. Phoned Monday to be told it was out of stock but would be coming in and shipped that day. Now Thursday and still no change and, the phone appears to be permanently off the hook... I've had a boat without a toilet now for over a week -can't even use it as a caravan, just as well in this weather. I understand these people may not actually hold stock and simply exist online to forward the order and take a cut, who are the reliable online chandlers out there and what do I do now? Any advice welcome Edit :- finally got through on the phone to a pleasant young lady, so they are in business and there's nothing sinister going on. However the situation is not under their control as "their supplier sent it out direct" which she says she will escalate on my behalf, but it appears there is not a process whereby they monitor progress, and I don't know where the tracking information I didn't get was supposed to be generated -them or the supplier. Not too good if there's any urgency... We'll see.

you know why its called a head right? cause on an old boat you would poop at the head of the boat so that the waves would wash it off.. just poop on the foredeck and go out into a force 6.. job done...

I have seen yachts with long counter sterns and the hole was over the counter. Not in the bow.  

The name originates from the French word for stern, la poupe, from Latin puppis. Thus the poop deck is technically a stern deck, which in sailing ships was usually elevated as the roof of the stern or "after" cabin, also known as the "poop cabin".

So the general consensus on Yachtmail is positive. Thankyou for helpful response. The part arrived and was fitted to the toilet in the heads of my sailing boat successfully in spite of unhelpful response... As this is a practical forum I will share one thing I did discover - The little anti-syphon valve in the main out-hose looked OK when dismantled and cleaned but there was fluid escaping from it when the pump was operated. The tiny joker valve was being distorted by crystals in the "U" tube receptacle. Poking with a woodscrew cleared it. ( the main pipes had been bashed already) now flushed with success. Let's hope Yachtmail clear up their courier issues. Thanks to Bev for escalating my problem.
