Second Thailand International Boat Show Opens in Phuket
BY APB Staff on 12 Jan 2024
Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports opens the event with speech emphasising Thailand's commitment to becoming a premier destination for luxury marine tourism.
The second Thailand International Boat Show has opened with a ceremony at Royal Phuket Marina in Thailand.
The free four-day show, which runs from 11 to 14 January, showcases luxury yachts, private jets, the latest in marine technology innovations and more. Over 50 yachts are lining the marina, and organisers say they expect over 6,000 visitors in total, including 3,000 HNWIs from around the world — a similar figure to last year’s inaugural edition.
The Thailand International Boat Show 2024 was officially opened by Kitti Chaodee, secretary to Thailand’s minister for tourism and sports, who, in his opening address, noted the show’s role in boosting tourism. Chaodee also highlighted the importance of tourism as a mechanism to help Thailand’s economic recovery.
Building on the success of the inaugural show, this year’s event has expanded in size. It boasts a multi-billion display of sail and motor yachts in the water ranging in price from under 1 million baht up to superyachts worth more than 400 million baht.
Charter yachts are also on display, including the 40-metre superyacht M/Y Silentworld , which is being presented by TJB Superyachts of London and Iseo Yachting of Hong Kong, recently formed by longtime industry professionals Adam Blackmore and Bryan Tse.
Speaking at the official opening, Adul Chuthong, deputy governor of Phuket, shared that Phuket is developing sustainable tourism strategies that will cement its position as a global destination that meets international standards. Recognising the importance of marine tourism and the Thailand International Boat Show, the deputy governor stressed that continuous tourism growth will help to empower and develop a strong local economy.

“We’re excited to welcome visitors from around the world to what is our biggest Thailand International Boat Show yet,” says David Hayes, CEO of organisers Jand Events . “Visitors can enjoy the diverse line-up of boats on display in the water, which is complemented by many leading luxury brands and businesses who are exhibiting in the marquee onshore as well as a packed four-day social programme. The show is designed to be an enjoyable, fun and interactive experience for all members of the family and a platform to drive business for Thailand’s marine industry.”
In addition to the exhibitor displays, visitors can enjoy the waterside eateries along Royal Phuket Marina’s boardwalk, daily live entertainment and social activities in the evenings, and family activities on Children’s Day.
The Thailand Yachting Conference took place for the first time this year. It took place the day before the boat show (on 10th January) and welcomed expert speakers and delegates from across Asia-Pacific.
Also debuting this year was Robb Report Thailand Best Of The Best Yachting Awards, which celebrated the leading lights in Thailand’s yachting industry at a Gala Dinner the evening before the show opened.
Winners included Ocean Marina Jomtien, which was honoured as the Best Marina in Thailand. “Tonight Ocean Marina Jomtien was awarded the Best Marina in Thailand award,” said harbormaster Scott Finsten after the ceremony. “I am incredibly humbled and honoured, but none of this would be possible without the support of my staff and Ocean Properties.”
The Thailand International Boat Show 2024 runs until 14 January, 2024 at Royal Phuket Marina and is open daily from 1pm to 8pm (7pm on Sunday 14 January). Entry is free.

Thailand’s 2024 Marine Showcase Draws Global Eyes!
The global marine industry is directing its gaze towards Southeast Asia, with the illustrious Thailand International Boat Show – A Luxury Lifestyle Event taking centre stage in early 2024. Scheduled to be unveiled from January 11-14 at the prestigious Royal Phuket Marina, this event promises more than just a display of extravagant yachts.
Emerging statistics indicate a projected footfall of over 6,000 elite visitors, symbolizing a much-anticipated rejuvenation of Thailand’s marine leisure sector. With innovative additions like the “Thailand Yachting Conference” and the globally recognized “Robb Report ‘Best of the Best’ Yachting Awards”, the event is quickly becoming the toast of the town among maritime aficionados across the continent.
Thailand’s meticulous efforts in curating this show align with its vision to cement its reputation as a premier boating hub. Partnerships forged between JAND Events, the Thai Yachting Business Association, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau signify a collective push to promote marine tourism.
David Hayes, the dynamic CEO of JAND Events, shared, “International boat owners are increasingly anchoring their prized possessions in Phuket, captivated by its unparalleled marinas and globally-acclaimed cruising arenas. Thailand’s allure as a prime boating destination is rising exponentially, attracting local Thais and global visitors alike.”
Ensuring no stone remains unturned, the 2024 boat show is set to dazzle attendees with state-of-the-art marine innovations and luxury commodities tailored to cater to Asia’s uber-wealthy individuals. An overwhelming 80% of the coveted in-water space has already been reserved by leading global brokers like Simpson Marine, Boat Lagoon Yachting, Derani Yachts, and Northrop & Johnson, guaranteeing a representation of world-class sail, power, and superyacht brands.
Visitors can also anticipate an advanced onshore exhibition arena debuting this year. This air-conditioned expanse will seamlessly link the aquatic and terrestrial experiences, showcasing enterprises ranging from marine commodities to cutting-edge tech.
The eve of the event, January 10, is earmarked for the Thailand Yachting Conference and the Robb Report Yachting Awards – two stellar events that promise to captivate and educate attendees in equal measure.
Hayes emphasised the show’s mission: “Our aim is to turbocharge Thailand’s marine tourism. With Phuket International Airport’s forthcoming expansion, potential new aviation infrastructure in Phang Nga, and streamlined visa processes, Thailand’s nautical horizon is gleaming with promise.”
Dive into this maritime revelation from January 11-14, 2024, at the Royal Phuket Marina. For an in-depth voyage into the event’s offerings, visit www.thailandinternationalboatshow.com .

The Thailand International Boat Show 2024 (TIBS)
The Thailand international boat show 2024 (TIBS) will take place at the Royal Phuket Marina between 11 – 14 January 2024, with over 6,000 visitors and more than 100 exhibitors expected to attend. The Thai Yachting Business Association has come onboard as the Supporting Authority, with Royal Phuket Marina as the host sponsor. Organised by JAND Events, a trading division of JAND Group, the event is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thailand (MOTST), Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), demonstrating support for the government’s yacht tourism initiative.
Industry specialist Wade also owns and runs Thai Marine Guide has come onboard as an Official Supplier to the Thailand International Boat Show. Pearce has also joined the show as a consultant and brand ambassadornad he will be in charge of the Thailand Yachting Conference that will be taking place on the 10th January 2024. More details on this conference will be announced soon.
Pearce's network and experience speaks for itself as he successfully produced the first Singapore Yachting Festival, a 4-day event held at one 15 Marina in April 2023. This along with the highly successful SEA Yachting Conference, supported by APSA, that saw over 150 industry professionals come together to discuss relevant issues for the boating industry in Asia.
Pearce is looking forward to working with the organisers of the TIBS. “I really enjoy working with the boating industry in both the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, I hope I’ll be able to amplify Thailand’s progress, products, services as well as promote it wonderful cruising grounds to the worldwide boating community. Thailand is now a mature yachting market in Southeast Asia, and although JAND Events is new to the boating scene, I’ve been impressed by the way they have reached out to exhibitors and now the show nhas strong support from the local and regional business, with most of the berths already taken. I am confident TIBS will be a stellar event and the conference will positively communicate Thailand’s current position on all aspects of yachting.”
Targeting those with an interest in boating and luxury lifestyle, the organisers are looking forward to welcoming wealthy jet-setters from overseas and local boating enthusiasts to the second edition where yachts of all sizes, both power and sail, will be on display in-the-water. The four-day event will showcase the best of Phuket to the world, with new exhibitor pavilions and visitor activities on a scale not seen before.

Boats On Display
The Thailand International Boat Show will be the location for the local premieres of boats from Greenline , Axopar and BRABUS Marine .
One of the most silent boats on the market today will be premiering at TIBS . The Greenline 40 delivers a whisper-like hum at cruising speed, making sure you never have to compromise on comfort while underway or when recharging the batteries.
This boat is highly practical, with a remote-controlled, electrically opening and closing platform that enlarges the lounge/cockpit area by 4㎡, and twin cockpit storage lockers that offer all the space needed for your equipment and toys.
The Axopar 37 Sun-Top Mediterrana Edition with its multi-purpose characteristics has proven itself to be a perfect combination of open and enclosed boating. This particular model showcases the Mediterrana upholstery, drawing inspiration from the laid-back spirit of the Mediterranean.
Fitted with twin Mercury Verado 5.7L V10 350 HP engines, this is the first Mediterrana Edition Sun-Top in Thailand.
The unique, eye-grabbing Axopar 22 T-Top not only has the looks, but is a true performer, offering one of the best driving experiences ever; unparalleled stability, agility and handling, combined with best-in-class seaworthiness. Built to match your needs!
The T-Top roof provides shade and protection from the sun and rain. The T-Top also houses a large storage compartment for storing fishing gear, watersports equipment, and other essentials.
The BRABUS Shadow 900 XC Cross Cabin will also be making it’s Thailand debut. Awarded with the Motor Boat Award 2022 for its confident, user-friendly and stylish performance the BRABUS Shadow 900 XC Cross Cabin is fully living and breathing the BRABUS supercar DNA. A true SUV of the sea.
The Cross Cabin’s year-round fast cruising capability reflects exactly what the BRABUS road cars are designed for. From the way it demolishes the chop and swell to the admiring glances it draws from fellow boaters and those on the quayside, this is a boat that makes you feel special. – Jury statement, Motor Boat Awards 2022
With gorgeous looks, cutting-edge technology and mesmerizing performance, the BRABUS Shadow 500 Cabin provides just the right ingredients for your tailor-made, high-octane marine adventure.
Reveal your personality to the world by imparting your own taste and charisma in this stunning and exceptionally fast 50+knots coast-to-coast commuter and adventurous shadow boat for a guaranteed wow-effect.
We extend a warm invitation to all enthusiasts and interested parties to visit our exhibition space. Explore the intricate details of our boats and take advantage of our exclusive show special offers.
We hope to see you at the show!
