This was the first Bavaria by J&J Designs, which in 1993 was tasked with giving the range a sharper look and better performance. J&J introduced bulbed keels and a more efficient rudder design and a sleeker, lower hull profile. The Bavaria 44 is a big yacht in all respects, with six berths in three cabins including a suite forward and a second heads aft. The saloon is not ideally arranged for offshore use but works well in harbour. A charter-orientated Holiday version was also offered, but it tends to fetch lower prices today.

Bavaria 44 is a 45 ′ 8 ″ / 13.9 m monohull sailboat designed by J&J Design and built by Bavaria Yachts between 2002 and 2004.

Auxilary power, accomodations, calculations.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Classic hull speed formula:

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Ballast / Displacement * 100

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
• LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam 1.33 )

A medium sized sailing boat suitable for carefree summer holidays , slow island hopping, swimming, sunbathing and relaxing. Most sailboats of this type have a furling mainsail , so it is more suitable for recreational sailing than for racing, fleet cruises or events where you need performance from the sails.

Capacity and equipment

The capacity of this popular charter sailboat is 6 to 10 people , all depending on the specific piece and certification. The number of cabins is three to four , and two bathrooms are standard. We prefer to note in advance that some Bavaria 44 Cruiser boats have one bunk cabin. Adults may not be comfortable with this, but children are usually thrilled.

The amenities on this ship include everything you need for a peaceful stay at sea. There is a fridge, an additional dinghy, sprayhood (fabric cockpit protection) or plotter (special cockpit navigation device), other equipment varies according to the specific boat. Some models also offer a bow thruster  (a docking device), which is especially appreciated by novice sailors, and there is also a heater , which is suitable for sailing on colder days outside the main season.

Bavaria 44 is a cruiser-racer boat, built in 2002 and rebuilt in 2017. The large cockpit and decks are the first thing you notice when you step aboard. Easy to walk around, with a comfortable interior. Bavaria 44 features 3 double cabins and 1 bunk bed, along with 2 WC. The saloon table is converted into a bed. Perfect for big companies, offers great sailing performance, especially beam-reach and downwind.

Bavaria 44 for the SEASON 2024 is available exclusively from Keramoti   Base.  Please send us your requested dates and we will contact you.

Our company can provide assistance in transfer organization upon request to Volos and Keramoti bases for you in order to start your charter. Find more info here.

Charters start on Saturdays. For other days of the week and/or different duration of charter please contact us for availability, extra fee may be applied.

The boat was fully rebuilt in 2017 and has got new mainsail in 2022 and a new wooden floor in the saloon. Bavaria 44 is under the full and exclusive management of North Sailing, which means a full-year circle of maintenance, winter and summer service. The boat spends winter in our partner dry dock in Keramoti under the maintenance and supervision of our own team of technicians. It is in great condition and keeps offering outstanding performance and the pleasure of sailing to her charterers.

The price includes the boat and its equipment. For Bavaria 35 Match only, the outboard engine is not a part of standard equipment. An optional extra fee 80€ / week has to be paid in the base, if you wish to rent it.

Every charter has some mandatory and some optional extras.

OBLIGATORY EXTRAS

Ready-to-sail package includes: Bed linen, towels, one set/person/week. Starter pack: soap and toilet paper/WC. Mooring fees for the first and last night in the ports of our bases.

• Safety Deposit or Damage Waiver + Reduced Safety Deposit

All boats are insured according to the Greek law, against risks arising from liability to third parties and damage to the hull, machinery and equipment in excess of the Refundable or Non Refundable deposit.

• Booking cancelled 59-31 days before embarkation: 50% of the charter fee
• Booking cancelled 30-0 days before embarkation: 100% of charter fee
• If the balance payment is not completed 31 days before embarkation and after 3 reminders the charter is considered cancelled.
• If the boat will be booked for the same period, the amount kept will be refunded to the guest. A fee of 100€ will be charged.
• If the boat will be rebooked for the same period with discount, the respective amount will be kept plus 100€. The rest amount will be refunded.

Present Terms & Conditions are applied to each booking made after 28.11.2022. We keep the right to revise the Terms & Conditions and if so, our website will be updated accordingly.

All boats are insured according to Greek law, against risks arising from liability to third parties and damage to the hull, machinery, and equipment in excess of the Refundable or Non Refundable deposit. The refundable safety deposit for Bavaria 44 is 2.000€ / Per week. Trying always to be innovative, our company offers a new type of insurance, the GOLD INSURANCE** which is a combination of Damage Waiver + Reduced Safety Deposit. For Bavaria 44 this type of insurance costs 300€ (PER WEEK, NON-REFUNDABLE) + 500€ (PER CHARTER, REFUNDABLE).

When chartering a bareboat yacht in Greece, according to the port authorities’ requirements, the client must provide original sailing certificate/license (in English language or officially translated).Certificates for motor yachts, sailing on day-light only, weather limitations are not accepted bythe Port Authorities. If no one from your crew has valid sailing license, we will be happy to offer you a professional skipper from our company.

The mooring fees for the first and last night on our bases are included in the price. There are various small charges of mooring fees in our area, and the fees depend on the port/marina you visit during your trip.
