Ghosts of the Deep dungeon guide - Destiny 2
A complete walkthrough of the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon in Destiny 2.

The Ghosts of the Deep dungeon is Season of the Deep’s big piece of content new to Destiny 2. This dungeon can be considered a raid-like activity intended for three-player fireteams, or even solo if you’re feeling up to the task. This guide will break down each encounter and give you suggestions for builds and weapon loadouts to use.
Last updated: Saturday, June 2, 2023, at 2:50 p.m. EDT.
How to start Ghosts of the Deep

To start Ghosts of the Deep, you must first visit Hawthorne in the Tower and pick up a quest called Rise . This quest will require you to complete the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon. To launch the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon, you must use the Director to open the H.E.L.M., at which point you’ll see the dungeon on the map. Ghosts of the Deep (normal mode) has a Power suggestion of 1790 as of Season of the Deep. The Master version of Ghosts of the Deep has a recommended Power level of 1840, but all Guardians will be capped at 1820. There is no benefit to being above 1820 when completing the Master version of Ghosts of the Deep.

Ghosts of the Deep launched on May 26, 2023, during Season of the Deep. The dungeon takes place on Titan, a location that has come back to the game after several years of being sunset.
Ghosts of the Deep Master changes
There are a few differences players can expect when loading up Ghosts of the Deep on Master difficulty. Firstly, players have come to expect Artifice armor from Master dungeons and the same holds true here. However, no Artifice armor drops from the opening encounter, Hive ritual disrupted . Here's what you can expect:
- Player Power is locked at 1820, 20 below the dungeon's Power of 1840
- Artifice armor only drops from the boss encounters
- Unstoppable Ogres replace regular Ogres in the opening (Hive ritual Disrupted) and Ecthar, The Shield of Savathun boss fight
- Barrier Knights replace the three standard Knights in the Simmumah ur-Nokruk, Lucent Necromancer boss fight
- Vorlog, Risen in Heresy has an Arc shield
While the Barrier Knights pose a threat in the final fight, they do offer an opportunity to use Aeon Exotics to generate Heavy ammo. This is also true for Vorlog. You can keep killing him with Finishers while wearing Aeon Exotics to replenish your allies' Heavy ammo.
Hive ritual disrupted

The first encounter of Ghosts of the Deep will require you to disrupt a Hive ritual to open a door. To do this, several statues need to be imbued with a Vestige of Light. First I'll give you a bullet breakdown of what you must do, then explain it in more detail below.
- Kill the two Hive enemies by the door
- Kill the Soulfire Binder Ogre
- Follow the green goo to a Hive rune
- Take note of the rune symbol and remember it
- Kill all the enemies at the Hive rune
- Follow the green goo to a second and third Hive rune
- Kill the Lightbearer at the third Hive rune
- Finish the Lightbearer’s Ghost to get Vestige of Light
- Whoever finishes the Ghost gets the buff, nobody else
- Take the Vestige of Light buff back to the door
- Kill the Veilweaver Wizard
- Reveal the illusion to acquire Deepsight
- Imbue the correct statue with the Vestige of Light
- Repeat three more times (four total) to open the door
Start the encounter by killing the two Hive by the door you’re trying to open. Killing these two will spawn a Soulfire Binder Ogre. When you kill the Ogre, you’ll see some green goo appear on the ground and a message in the bottom left corner of your screen that says, “The way forward is revealed…” Follow that green goo, keeping your eyes peeled for a Hive rune in the sky, taking note of which rune it is. You will need to remember this. Once you see the rune, head to that location and some enemies will spawn. A couple of the enemies will also be called Soulfire Binders. When you kill the Soulfire Binders at the rune location, more green goo will spawn on the ground showing you the path forward.
Continue forward until you find the second Hive rune, which will be the same symbol as the first. Kill all the enemies, including the Soulfire Binders, and a third instance of green goo will spawn that you must follow. When you arrive that the third rune location, kill all the enemies, including the Lightbearer. As soon as you kill the Lightbearer, kill its ghost. The person that does this will receive the Vestige of Light buff with an 80 second counter. You will also see in the bottom left that a Veilweaver Wizard is revealed.
Return to the door where you began the encounter. To speed things up, use your sparrow. When you arrive, kill the Wizard and you will see an illusion on the ground. Any member of your fireteam can approach this illusion and reveal it, giving you Deepsight for 20 seconds. With Deepsight active, the member of the fireteam that has the Vestige of Light buff must approach the statue with the same Hive symbol you tracked through the area and interact with it when prompted to “Imbue with Vestige of Light.” If you get the wrong statue, that member of your team will die, and you’ll have to begin again without having made any progress. If you get it right, you’ll hear the satisfying sound of success and see a message that “A ritual statue manifests.”
Repeat this process four times and the door will open, granting you a reward chest. If you’re curious what can drop out of that chest, we have a Ghosts of the Deep loot table you can browse. When you’ve collected your loot, head inside and make your way forward to the second encounter.
Secret Chest #1
The first secret chest can be found near the “Reach the Wreckage” objective. You’ll hop into the water and move forward, dropping off a cliff. There are two entrances to the area with the secret chest, and quite a few Hive waiting for you at the bottom entrance furthest from the chest. As you emerge from the water, the top entrance will deliver you directly to the chest, while the bottom entrance will require you to fight some Hive. Either way, the secret chest is right at the entrance. If you go through the bottom, which is common, kill the Hive and then loop back around to find the chest almost directly above where you emerged through the bottom entrance.
Defeat Ecthar, the Shield of Savathun

The second encounter is a big bump in difficulty over the first, and Guardians would be wise to have a Well of Radiance on the team. My team included a Well of Radiance, Shadowshot, and Gathering Storm, which worked well. Use what you're comfortable with. Riskrunner is a hero in this encounter, as are Arc Resistance mods in your Chest Armor. Don't be shy about using your Supers, just be sure you have them back for the damage phase. Lastly, the difficult part is staying alive in the main room, and evading the boss while finding the runes underwater is the easy part. Split the roles in a way that makes sense for your team.
- Kill the praying Acolytes
- Kill the Blistered Knights
- Kill the Keeper of the Deep Ogre
- Reveal the illusion to gain Deepsight
- Note the three Hive rune symbols on the wall
- One fireteam member goes underwater
- That person finds the matching runes and touches them
- That person returns to the surface
- Kill the Lightbearer Wizard and its Ghost
- Whoever kills the Ghost gets Vestige of Light
- Take the Vestige of Light to a statue and imbue it
- Repeat this for a second and third Lightbearer Wizard
- Kill the Wellkeeper Knight
- Step into the pool it spawns where it died and take down Ecthar's shield
- Damage Ecthar and repeat until he’s dead
Begin the second encounter by killing the four Acolytes praying near the fountain. This will spawn the boss, Ecthar, the Shield of Savathûn, into the room. It will also spawn a bunch of adds and three Blistered Knights. Kill the Blistered Knights to spawn a Keeper of the Deep Ogre. Once you kill that Ogre, wherever it is, an illusion will appear near the fountain. Any member of your team can reveal the illusion to grant the entire team 20 seconds of Deepsight.
While you have Deepsight, look at the left and right walls of the room to see eight Hive runes, four on each side. Three of these runes will be lit up. You must take note and remember all three of the rune symbols.
At this point, one member of your team (minimum) must hop into the water, ideally through the smaller holes on the left and right. This will bring the boss with them, leaving the two remaining members of the fireteam in the room to kill adds. The person underwater must then track down the three symbols that appeared on the walls and choose the option to “Touch Rune” when you spot it underwater. Once you have correctly touched all three runes, while maintaining your Pressure Resistance and evading the boss, return to the surface and reunite with your team.

At this point there will be Lightbearer Wizards in the main room. When you kill one, be sure to kill its Ghost. The person that gets the kill on the Ghost will get the Vestige of Light buff. That person must go to one of the three statues in the room, all of which are up the stairs, and choose the option to “Imbue with Vestige of Light.” There is one statue on the left stairs, one on the right, and one at the back in the middle. Once your team has killed three Lightbearer Wizards and their Ghosts and imbued the three statues with the Vestige of Light, you’re ready to kick off the damage phase.
The moment the last statue is imbued with the Vestige of Light, a Wellkeeper Knight will spawn just in front of where the fountain is. Kill this Knight and it will drop a pool at its feet. Step into the pool and begin your damage phase by taking down Ecthar's shield. Once the shield is down you don't need to stay in that pool the Knight dropped if you don't want to. In this tight of space, Rocket Launchers are not advised. What works is a Warlock with a Well of Radiance, and even a Hunter with the Gathering Storm Super. The Well of Radiance is almost mandatory to keep you alive. Hit the boss with everything you have and when he becomes immune, repeat the process until the boss is dead.
As additional advice, it should be noted that any number of players can go underwater to complete the rune section. If you want to have three, that's fine. It's also noteworthy that once a single rune has been touched, a Lightbearer Wizard will spawn, so you could have a member of your fireteam kill that Wizard and imbue a statue before you're even finished with the underwater section to speed things along.
Secret Chest #2
The second secret chest can be found shortly after the second encounter, and just before you enter the arena to fight Simmumah ur-Nokru, Lucent Hive. When you get to a section where you must hop from one platform to the next, killing Shriekers as you go, you're in the right area. At some point an Ogre will spawn and walk towards something that resembles a gazeebo. Kill the Ogre, then hop up onto the gazeebo to find the secret chest. This is the last secret chest in the dungeon.
Defeat Simmumah ur-Nokru, Lucent Hive

The final encounter is a tricky one, and definitely has the toughest mechanics, but once you get the hang of it you should be fine.
- Approach the Ghost and crush it to begin the encounter
- Approach the illusion and Reveal it to gain Deepsight
- Note the three locations with orbs which are connected
- Heart (always one of the three locations)
- Head to one of the locations and stand near it so it glows at your feet
- Kill Vorlog, Risen in Heresy while standing at the glowing location
- Heart must be completed last during this sequence
- A lens will spawn in the sky
- Look through the eyeglass towards a Hive symbol to reveal a rune
- Repeat steps 5 through 7 at the two remaining locations
- Head through one of three chambers full of water to find a Lightbearer
- Note the Hive rune symbol in that room
- Kill the Lightbearer and its Ghost to get Vestige of Wizard/Knight/Acolyte
- This buff will last 60 seconds and must be imbued within that time
- If the timer on the buff runs out, you die
- Return to the main area
- Imbue the correct location with the Vestige of Light
- The order does not matter here
- Repeat steps 10 through 16 until all three locations are imbued
- Begin the damage phase
- Repeat until Simmumah ur-Nokru, Lucent Necromancer is dead
Begin the encounter by crushing the Ghost near Simmumah, ur-Nokru, Lucent Necromancer. Reveal the illusion to grant your team Deepsight. Use Deepsight to note three locations in the main area that have dark orbs on them. These three locations will be connected by a string of light. Move to one of the locations and stand close enough so that the ground glows beneath your feet. Wait until Vorlog, Risen in Heresy appears, and kill him while you’re standing at the location, with your feet inside the glowing area. This will spawn a lens in the sky. Look through that lens, aiming your weapon at the symbol of the Hive, to reveal a Hive rune.
You must repeat the process two more times, once at each of the two remaining locations. The only difference is you don’t need Deepsight each time. Deepsight, for the time being, is only used so you can see the three active locations. Once you know where they are, you only need to lure Vorlog, Risen in Heresy to each location, kill him while standing at the glowing locations, and then use the lens to reveal the Hive rune. You must complete the heart location last only during this sequence. Once all three runes have been revealed, you’re onto the next part of this encounter.

With all three Hive runes revealed, enter one of the chambers, pass through the water section, and emerge in a back chamber where you’ll find a Lightbearer. This could be a Wizard, Acolyte, or Knight. Kill the Lightbearer and its Ghost to get the Vestige buff, take note of the Hive rune symbol, then return to the main chamber. You will need to reveal the illusion to get Deepsight, then approach the Hive rune that matches the one you saw in the chamber and imbue that location with the Vestige of Light. This process must be repeated three times, at which point you’ll enter a damage phase.
When the damage phase begins, you'll need to stand at one of the three locations, inside the pool, and lower the boss' shield. This is best accomplished with a shot from Arbalest, which will drop the shield with a single projectile. Do not shoot rockets and throw your Super at the boss until the shield is down. Once the shield is down, move around as required. If the battlefield is littered with Heavy Ammo, move around and pick it up if you feel that's going to help to chunk more of the boss' health. A good strategy is to have one teammate with Gjallarhorn, and two others with strong Legendary Rocket Launchers (my Adept Hothead is my baby here). The Gjallarhorn user fires rockets at the boss, which grants nearby teammates Wolfpack Rounds. This does an incredible amount of damage. Consider gathering up at the head to complete your damage phase, as it gives you a great view of the field and the boss can't crush you like at the heart location.
When the damage phase ends, repeat the entire process until you get another, and until the boss is dead. Take note that the locations that must be imbued will change after each damage phase, so you will need Deepsight to identify them. The heart location will always be one of them. Throughout this encounter, you must have the Deepsight buff to see the three active locations, and you must have the same buff to imbue each location with the Vestige of Light.
Once again, a Well of Radiance is great here. Simmumah, ur-Nokru, Lucent Necromancer will move around the main area to the last location you revealed a Hive rune and can wreck you in seconds. Arc Resistance mods are great, and Void Hunters will love invisibility here. Titans have lots of options for surviving, but I wouldn’t hate a Ward of Dawn here if your team is struggling to stay alive. For damage, consider Rocket Launcher with Tracking Module if you’re not hitting your shots.

Destiny 2 Ghosts of the Deep: All Hive Symbol Locations in Ecthar Boss Encounter
Where are all the hive symbols in the ecthar boss fight in ghosts of the deep.

The Ecthar boss encounter in Destiny 2 Ghosts of the Deep is arguably the coolest section of the Dungeon, but what can be frustrating is when you don’t know where one of the Hive symbols are. In this guide, I’ll show you were all eight Hive symbols are in the Destiny 2 Ecthar, the Shield of Savathun encounter.

Destiny 2: Where to Find All Hive Symbols in Ecthar Encounter
During the Ecthar, the Shield of Savathun encounter , you’ll need to brave the deep by jumping into the water to activate three Hive rune symbols . These appear randomly on the plates on the left and right side of the room.

Thanks to a kind Guardian named pryanie#2536, we have a nice map showing the location of all eight Hive rune as well as where to find the bubbles, the diving holes, and Hive totems.
The underwater section of the map can be extremely tricky to navigate , especially since you need to keep an eye on your pressure levels while avoiding Ecthar himself.
From the map image above, you can see the Hive symbol locations. I have my own callouts for each Hive symbol , so here’s what I call them.
On the top right you have the two horizontal lines Hive symbol, on the top middle left side you have the three dots . In the middle right you have hamburger and on the middle left you have equal sign .
On the far right of the room you have pizza . The bottom right corner has horseshoe . Above bottom left is vertical lines and bottom left is the down arrow .
Feel free to stick to your own callouts or adopt mine, but now you have a map to the underwater Hive rune symbols in the Ecthar encounter . Hopefully, you’ll memorize where these symbols are quickly or you stick to dry land, wiping the adds and the Wizards. With this done, you can move onto the next Secret Chest in Ghosts of the Deep .

Destiny 2 Ghosts of the Deep dungeon guide and walkthrough
Our guide to overcoming the dungeon below the Seas of Titan.
Ghosts of the Deep is an all-new Dungeon in Destiny 2 , sending Guardians into the methane soaked depths of Titan to stop the Hive from completing a ritual with nightmarish potential.
Like other Dungeons in Destiny 2 , this is an end-game level challenge geared toward three-person fireteams. It combines powerful enemies with challenging traversal, and complex mechanics designed to test skilled players. Upon successful completion, players are rewarded with unique weapons and armor, and there is a chance to obtain a new Exotic Trace Rifle called The Navigator .
This guide will lead you through every step of the journey, including how to beat Šimmumah ur-Nokru, Lucent Necromancer, in this Destiny 2 Ghosts of the Deep walkthrough .
In this guide:
- Organizing your team for the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon
- How to start Ghosts of the Deep in Destiny 2 and complete the Hive Ritual encounter
- How to defeat Echtar, the Shield of Savathun
- How to defeat Šimmumah ur-Nokru
Organizing your team for Ghosts of the Deep
Similar to setting up for a raid like Root of Nightmares , communication will be key to your success. Make sure you and your team can coordinate clearly. Voice chat is really helpful.

There will be segments with a lot of add-clear, boss damage phases, and some challenging traversal sections. It’s best to be prepared for all of the above. Many of the enemies do arc damage, including the final boss, so Risk Runner is a solid choice, but anything strong at rapidly killing groups of enemies is viable. Linear fusion rifles like Taipan-4FR are still a strong option for boss damage, though not the only one. Bringing a Warlock who can drop a healing rift is also helpful. Regardless of how you set it up, you will want to make sure you can cover all of those bases.
The recommended power level for Ghosts of the Deep is 1790, though enemies are as high as 1810. Being properly leveled is very important to make completion reasonable, so be sure to upgrade to your finest weapons and armours before you start.
The Season of the Deep is here alongside the Into the Depths quest. You can know go fishing too! Don't forget to keep an eye on the Lost Sector and King's Fall challenge rotation schedule!
How to start Ghosts of the Deep in Destiny 2 and complete the Break the Ritual encounter
The first time you take on the Ghosts of the Deep you will need to visit Hawthorne in the Tower. She will assign you the quest Rise. Now, open the Director, navigate to the H.E.L.M., and launch Ghosts of the Deep.
This will take you to a location outside of the New Pacific Arcology. The arena is more or less a wide rectangle with the statues and exit at the center-rear. There are a few plateaus in the middle. A sunken room to the far left, and a grove of tree-like spires in the front right. Roads and paths interconnect the areas, and sparrows can be summoned to speed up traversal.

The first encounter is called Break the Ritual . In this case, breaking the ritual means manifesting four statues. Each statue requires the same order of operations in order to manifest it:
- Gather a Vestige of Light from a Lightbearer
- Reveal hidden statues using Deepsight
- Deposit Vestige of Light into the correct statue
First, kill the enemies near the statues. To gather Vestiges of Light you will first need to find and kill an Ogre called the Soulfire Binder . Once he’s been properly dealt with, a faint green trail will lead towards another part of the arena. Follow it and kill the enemies there, including two more Soulfire Binders. There will be a symbol in the air, make note of it, and follow the new trail that forms. This will lead to another group of enemies, slay them, then follow the trail to a final collection of baddies.

This time there will be a Lightbearer, with a ghost that must be finished after you kill it. Whoever kills the ghost will receive the Vestige of Light buff. This lasts for 80 seconds, and will kill its bearer if not deposited.

Go back to the location with the statues, and eliminate all of the enemies there. A special wizard called a Spellweaver will drop a Deepsight Orb. As soon as someone on the fireteam picks this up everyone will be granted Deepsight, revealing four hidden statues. A hive symbol will be visible on each statue. The person with the Vestige of Light must deposit at the statue whose symbol corresponds to the one noted earlier while clearing groups of adds. If done correctly, the statue will manifest and the message, 'A ritual statue manifests', will be displayed.

A new Soulfire Binder ogre will spawn, repeat the process for three more statues to complete the encounter and open the door.

Destiny 2: All Lost Ghost Trace Locations
Destiny 2's Shadowkeep expansion is set on a moon haunted by murdered Guardians, and here is how to find their Lost Ghost Traces.
Shadowkeep, the fourth expansion to Bungie's looter shooter Destiny 2 , takes players back to the moon for the first time since the original Destiny . Unfortunately, the place is haunted by the shadows of long-dead Guardians calling desperately for help that players can't give, which really does nothing for the atmosphere. The silver-lining is that a few of them have left their Ghosts behind, and they are ready to be gathered up by a kind-hearted member of the living and then shattered into Phantasmal Fragments in Destiny 2 .
After completing the Shadowkeep story missions in Destiny 2 , players will begin to find Lost Ghost Traces among their loot. These can be traded to Eris Morn in order to begin the Ghost Quests, which are treasure hunts across the moon that unlock some interesting lore as well as Phantasmal Fragments, a rare crafting material. There are nine of these mini-missions in total, and here's how to find them all.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep - Lost Ghost Trace Locations
Echo of the disaster.
Hidden in a blind ravine in Archer's Line, this Ghost can be easy to overlook. The simplest way for players to reach it is by starting a Patrol session on the moon, which will cause them to spawn in Archer's Line, before heading to the start location for the Ether Resupply Public Event. Looking over the cliffs opposite the facility, players will see a crashed truck halfway down the rock face. The Ghost is just in front of the cab. While in Archer's Line players might also want to grab the secret NASA easter egg in Destiny 2 , which is located in the Lost Sector area.
First Crota's Team Fallen
If Destiny 2's server problems are over, then players will have no trouble finding this Ghost in the Anchor of Light region, which is near the circular room where they discovered the Shard of the Traveler and defeated the Phantasm of Omnigul. The boss room is through the doorway on the left side of the picture below, and the Ghost is found through the doorway to the right.
Adonna's Quest
This is another Ghost in Archer's Line, and it is located in the Hall of Wisdom on the eastern side of the region. Once they've reached the center of the halls, players should head through the large, circular door to the left and then follow the path until they reach the boss room. The Shrine is located in the very center, and the Ghost is beside it. Players can save a return trip to the Hall of Wisdom by also picking up the Necromantic Strand in Destiny 2 , a key ingredient for a powerful hand-cannon, while they're in the neighborhood.
A True Believer
This Ghost is at the bottom of the Summoning Pits, which can be found underground on the northern side of the Hellmouth region. The Ghost itself is located in the room in which players fight the Phantasm of Phogoth the Untamed, on an upper ledge at the far end. There are some nasty mobs this deep below Hellmouth, so players might want to make sure they're well-equipped, perhaps with the new Destiny 2 Monte Carlo rifle if they've been lucky enough to get one.
Misplaced Trust
One of the easiest to collect if a player knows where to look, this Ghost is also located in the Hellmouth region, but it is above ground. It can be found in the northern part of the region, hiding just inside the entrance to the catacombs, directly below the word Hellmouth on the map. Players can also take a moment to appreciate the moon's haunting isolation, and perhaps feel glad that Shadowkeep is barred to the hordes of players rushing to try Destiny 2 's New Light , a free-to-play version of the game.
Dark Dreams
To find this Ghost, players should go to Sorrow's Harbour and then head southeast from the spawn into the Lunar Battlegrounds. From there, head past the Hive to where the old structures are, and stick to the right-hand side — the Ghost can be found in the shadow of a crashed engine. While traveling, players may want to keep a wary eye out for Shadowkeep's new champion enemies, with their Barrier, Unstoppable and Overload powers in Destiny 2 .
A Futile Search
This Ghost is located in the center of the Anchor of Light region. Players should enter the large circular building that's marked on the map, and then head to the smallest room inside where the Ghost can be found on the floor. They may also want to keep an eye out for Destiny 2 Jade Rabbits , just in case.
Together Forever
Another Ghost found beneath the Hellmouth region, this one can be located by descending into the area known as the Circle of Bones. In the large, circular room with five broken cylinders players can find piles of bones scattered across the floor, and the one at the back-right contains the Ghost. While in the Circle of Bones, players might want to pick up the Hive skull they'll need to craft Destiny 2 's Deathbringer , an Exotic Rocket Launcher.
The Greatest Sacrifice
Located in the Gatehouse area of Hellmouth, the final Ghost is also underground. It can be found by going under the Hellmouth ramp, heading down the stairs, and turning right. This will lead to a large, circular room with enemies. After dispatching them, take the exit to the right and head down to another round room with large windows — the Ghost is beside them on the far side.
Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Destiny 2 Shadowkeep: All The Ghost Locations For The Lost Dead Ghosts Quest
How to help Eris Morn find Ghosts.
By Chris Pereira on November 14, 2019 at 8:04AM PST
Destiny 2 's Shadowkeep expansion is rich in places to discover and activities to complete, including cool new attractions like the Alters of Sorrow and Nightmare Hunts. You'll find many chests around the moon and as rewards for completing activities, and often when you open them, you'll discover new consumable items called a Lost Ghost Trace . These items unlock a new series of bounties from Eris Morn that require you to use the clues in their descriptions to find the Dead Ghosts of fallen Guardians, and each one provides a bit of history about the Great Disaster, an event in which thousands of Guardians fell to the Hive god Crota. Finding each one unlocks a lore Triumph that tells the story of what happened to the Guardians who perished on the moon years ago, in Destiny 2's backstory. It's a fascinating insight into the world Bungie has built.
There are at least eight dead Ghosts to locate, but they work differently than those in Destiny 1, which you could discover on your own. Shadowkeep's dead Ghosts involve acquiring a Lost Ghost Trace and then cashing it in with Eris for a quest to find a Ghost in a specific location on the moon. That in turns rewards you with a new lore book and Phantasmal Fragments.

Below, you'll find a list of all of the dead Ghosts we know about, their listed locations, and--where possible--details on exactly where to find them. We'll continue to update this as we locate more. As you hunt for them, just know they have a slight glowing effect to help you track them down, but you won't receive any objective markers as you do with the items you hunt down for the Lectern of Enchantment's Essence quests.
Echo of the Great Disaster -- Archer's Line
Spawn at Sanctuary and head to the left, toward Archer's Line. Follow the path to the left when it branches, and you should then see it branch again just in front of a crashed truck. Follow it to the right a short ways until you see a jump. Stop there and turn right to face the large fissure in the ground. Just to the right, you should see a lower ledge. Jump down there and move forward to another lower ledge with a crashed truck and other wreckage. You'll find the dead Ghost nearby.

First Crota Team's Fallen -- World's Grave
Head to Anchor of Light and make your way to the east side of the area, looking for a path between the lunar colony buildings that leads to a winding canyon road. Follow that road to hit the Temple of Crota and head inside. Keep working down through the temple, past a couple of Hive seeders. You'll hit a big room with one last Hive seeder in it and a lot of enemies. Look for a door with green light coming out of it and head through there.

The path forward will take you into the World's Grave. Move through the first room into a rocky hallway with high ceilings and continue past the enemies, up onto the second level to find a door. Continuing forward, you'll next hit a room with a big round platform in it. Turn right and look for the big door with an orange-lit room just behind. Enter that room, climb the stairs, and turn left. You'll see another open door ahead of you. Enter it and look in the left corner of the small room beyond to find the dead ghost.
Adonna's Quest -- Shrine of Oryx
The Shrine of Oryx is accessed through Archer's Line. Spawn at Sanctuary and drive to Archer's Line, then make your way up the hill on the right side toward the dome building. Pass through it and follow a path down and into the Hive structure. Drop down and you'll soon hit the Hall of Wisdom.

Keep moving forward into the round room with the large, lit orange crystals hanging from the ceiling. Turn left and go through the door. You'll see a big round entrance with what looks like tubes or power cables heading into it. Head down that hallway to its end, then follow the curving path around the edge of the shrine until you reach the large room with a big structure in the center that you can enter. Head through the center doorway into the structure to find the dead ghost on the ground.
The Greatest Sacrifice -- Gatehouse
The Gatehouse is a location you'll find by traveling through the Hellmouth. In the northern section of the area, you'll find a hole in the side of the top of a structure. Head in there and then turn down the stairs, and follow the path forward to enter the Gatehouse. Keep descending through the halls, past the room with the black water and racks of swords (you'll recognize this is where you defeated the Swarm Princes in Destiny 1).

Turn right through the door and keep moving until you hit another round room with enemies inside. (If you hit the Circle of Bones or the path where you have to jump a gap, you've gone too far.) You'll also often find a Barrier Knight in this room. Check the right side of the room relative to where you entered to find a grated wall where white light is coming through. The dead ghost can be tough to spot because of the light, but it's lying in front of the grate on the ground.

Together Forever -- Circle of Bones
Make your way to the Gatehouse in the Hellmouth (as described above), then turn right to proceed through a set of tunnels and rooms. Keep descending through the Gatehouse area, and you'll come into an area with platforms hanging over a giant chasm; just jump to the left and proceed into the next set of tunnels to enter the Circle of Bones.

As you enter the Circle of Bones, you'll have paths stretching out to the left and right, and a large round room just ahead with enemies and a Wizard inside. Go straight forward and clear out the Hive in the round room. With your back to the way you came in, check the pillar on the right side of the room to find the Ghost sitting on the ground beside it.
A True Believer -- Summoning Pits
When you enter the Circle of Bones (see above), take the path to the left. Take a doorway to the left and proceed through this hallway, and you'll find a closed door you can open.

Step into the Summoning Pits and immediately turn 45 degrees to your right. You should see a long, thin platform ahead of and above you that runs along the edge of the room. The dead Ghost is sitting on that platform, right in the corner.
Dark Dreams -- Lunar Battlegrounds
The Lunar Battlegrounds are accessed by traveling from Sorror's Harbor toward the southeast. Spawn at the Sorrow's Harbor landing zone and head toward the southeastern exit, which takes you across a bridge. Head straight across the Hive fortifications of the next area to find a road on the far side of the small canyon. Keep moving forward to reach the Lunar Battlegrounds, which you might recognize as a big Destiny 1 Crucible map.

As you arrive, turn right and drive along the right side edge of the area, which will curve away from the wall toward some buildings. Look for what appears to be a downed orange of a spacecraft with a crater beside it. Your dead ghost is just behind it.
A Futile Search -- Anchor of Light
This is a named location on the map. Spawn at Sanctuary, hop on your sparrow, and follow the path to the right to get there. When you arrive, look for the big disc-shaped building in the center of the area. Head in through one of the doors and look around for a small room off the big round main room. The dead ghost is just inside and not hard to spot.
Misplaced Trust -- Hellmouth
Hellmouth is another named location on the map. From Sanctuary, follow the path to your right, move straight through Anchor of Light, and you'll hit the Hellmouth. Alternatively, start at Sorrow's Harbor and take the southwest exit near the landing zone. When you arrive, head around the edge of the Hellmouth to the north end of the area, where you can enter the Hive structure. This is the path you'd normally take to the Gatehouse, the Circle of Bones, and the Summoning Pits, among other locations.

As you enter the building, stairs will descend to your left with a few Hive enemies waiting for you. Go down to the bottom and head for the edge of the platform ahead of you (rather than turning right to go through the door). Spin around and face back up the stairs to find the dead ghost, which is secreted behind the half wall at the bottom of the stairs.

A Loyal Friend
The last of the Lost Ghosts is only available once you have access to the Pit of Heresy dungeon. Once that unlocks, you can turn in one last Trace to Eris to get the bounty. Head into the dungeon and work down to the second major encounter, in which you're running from a few giant invincible ogres. Work your way through the maze until you hit the edge of the area, where a cliffside and a large pit. Keep the cliff on your left and work your way down to the end of the area. You should spot the Dead Ghost on a platform at the far end of the room, which you'll have to reach by jumping. Grab it to complete the Dead Ghosts set and unlock the Lunar Memoriam emblem.
How To Get Lost Ghost Traces
Lost Ghost Traces appear to be random drops from activities on the moon, and you'll need one in your inventory to even see the dead Ghost quests offered by Eris. We've found them through various means, including the chest spawned by killing a barrier champion on the moon and completing the Scarlet Keep Strike and Nightmare Hunts.

Destiny 2 Ghosts of the Deep Loot Table: Weapons & Armor
by Ric Molina | May 29, 2023
The Ghost of the Deep is finally here, and many are calling it the best (and perhaps more challenging) Destiny 2 dungeon to date. And its loot appears to be on par in terms of lethality and aesthetics.
This guide will cover the entire Ghost of the Deep loot table, including the new armor set, Legendary weapons, and Exotic.
D2 Ghost of the Deep Dungeon Loot Pool
This is the complete Ghost of the Deep loot table, including weapons and armor:
💠 Recommended Power : 1790
⛔ Requirements : Lightfall Deluxe Edition or Lightfall Dungeon Key (2,000 Silver) are required to enter this dungeon.

Ghost of the Deep features 4 Legendary weapons and an Exotic Trace rifle:
On top of featuring top-tier stats, GotD weapons also come with an Origin trait specific to this dungeon.

You can read more about The Navigator Exotic here (including all the Triumphs you can complete to increase your odds of getting this Exotic).

Ghost of the Deep dungeon Armor
As with every other dungeon in Destiny 2, Ghost of the Deep offers one armor set per class. This time around, the armor sets are heavily inspired by the Lucent Hive. And by the way, they look incredible…

Ghost of the Deep Armor, Destiny 2
The armor sets are the following (and as usual, you can farm an Artifice armor variant on Master mode):
Ghost of the Deep Collectibles
This dungeon features several collectibles and items, including an Exotic Sparrow .
We can confirm there are also two exclusive emblems that are exclusive to the Ghost of the Deep:

Regicide emblem

A Grave Matter emblem
How to Farm the Ghost of the Deep
As is tradition, this dungeon can be farmed for unlimited loot. All you need is a committed Fireteam and a couple of hours ahead of you. Just like the Spire of the Watcher dungeon, you can run this dungeon as many times as you want on any given week.
The Dungeon Exotic, however, can only be farmed once per character per week.
This is how you’ll be able to farm the Ghost of the Deep dungeon:
- Go through the dungeon on your first character until you reach the encounter you want to farm.
- Start the encounter and wipe (i.e., die without beating it).
- Ask your Fireteam to wait. Change characters and log into a character that hasn’t run the dungeon that week.
- On that second character, join your Fireteam again .
- Wipe again. Now your second character has the proper checkpoint.
And that’s it. You’ll then be able to farm that encounter ad nauseam until reset! To continue farming, you’ll need to:
- Launch the dungeon using your second character (the one that is holding the checkpoint).
- Change characters and rejoin your Fireteam on your first character.
- Complete the encounter for loot.
- Exit the dungeon, switch characters again, and repeat Step 1.
Ghost of the Deep Dungeon release date
The Ghost of the Deep Dungeon was released on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 10 AM Pacific.
We’ve known for a long time that Season 21 would feature a new [Redacted] Dungeon. Every season features either a new dungeon or a new/reprised raid. With Root of Nightmares’ release last season, we knew Season of the Deep would feature a new dungeon. Bungie confirmed this a few weeks ago:
Well, get your Guardians ready for the next adventure, the new [Redacted] dungeon opens at 10AM Pacific, on Friday, May 26.
About The Author
” Usually, Bungie adds specific triumphs that, when completed, increase your chances of earning the Dungeon Exotic. It is unclear whether Ghost of the Deep will also offer this feature but we’ll know more as more teams uncover its secrets. ”
There is a triumph, it’s called “Ghoul” in the titles part of the Journey tab.
I got the rocket launcher on the third encounter so can confirm it can drop there, also the class item isn’t on the loot table 🙁

Destiny 2 Dark Dreams Dead Ghost Lunar Battlegrounds Location
Home » Destiny 2 » Destiny 2 Dark Dreams Dead Ghost Lunar Battlegrounds Location
Dark Dreams Dead Ghost in Lunar Battlegrounds is one of the Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Dead Ghost Trace quests. To complete it, you have to find the Shadowkeep Lunar Battleground Dead Ghost. Naturally, the ghost is well-hidden; although, I have to admit, it’s not as obtuse as some other Dead Ghosts we’ve seen. It is still easy to miss, though. That being the case, our Destiny 2 Dark Dreams Dead Ghost Lunar Battlegrounds Location guide is gonna show you exactly where to find it, in order to complete the Dead Ghost Trace.
Where to Find Dark Dreams Dead Ghost in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Lunar Battlegrounds?
To find the Dark Dreams Dead Ghost in Lunar Battlegrounds in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep, you can start from the Sorrow’s Harbor fast travel point. Hang a right, and stay on that path. Keep your eye on the right, and when you see a small, red bridge, cross it and follow this new path. Eventually, you’ll come across grand entrance into the Lunar Battlegrounds. Book it straight forward, off the long bridge. Proceed down the path that goes straight and slightly to the right.
At the end of this path, you’ll come across two buildings, one domed, and one with an antenna. By the way, on the roof of the antenna building, you can find the Essence of Failure Captive Cord . But for the dead ghost, blast right between the buildings. Look to your right to find a small module next to a giant cylinder. The Dead Ghost will be next to the engines of the module. Simple as that. Do mind the enemies, though.

And that’s where to find the Dark Dreams Dead Ghost in Lunar Battlegrounds. If another dead ghost trace is giving you headaches, check out some of our other guides, including True Believer Dead Ghost Location – Summoning Pits , Adonna’s Quest Dead Ghost Shrine of Oryx Location , and Echo of the Great Disaster Dead Ghost Location .

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep: Where To Find Every Lost Ghost
Players who are eager to unlock every bit of lore can go after the new lost ghosts added to the game, hidden in various locations.
The launch of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep has been largely successful after a first day of server issues, and players are enjoying the large amount of content available to explore. For the ambitious players who want to discover every bit of Destiny lore that they can, the Lost Ghosts present a unique and interesting challenge .
Guardians eager to unlock everything can keep an eye out for the collection of Ghosts that provide insight into the past events on the Moon following the disastrous attempt to wipe out the hive in the first game. First, players will need to find a Lost Ghost Trace, which begin to drop at random after completing the main story. Players can take these to Eris to access a list of options for which Ghost to seek out. Keep in mind that there is no order to finding these, so players can pick and choose as they please.
First Crota's Team Fallen
Everything about the Guardian’s initial experiences with Crota is tragic, and finding this Ghost brings back memories of their failed attempts to survive. Finding this Ghost is more difficult than others simply because there are no significant landmarks from the perspective of the Ghost. All one can see is the room where one finds the Shard of the Traveller, where you defeat the Omnighoul nightmare. To the right of this image is a room where the Ghost lies.
Echo of the Disaster
Players will recognize the area not far from where the Ether Resupply Public Event begins in Archer’s Line. Head across a ravine and look around a downed truck to find this first Ghost.
Adonna's Quest
Players need to head to the Shrine of Oyrx, which was a Strike from the first Destiny game. From Archer’s Line players need to head to inside of the Hall of Wisdom, and from the center of this space there are multiple paths to take. Head left inside of a large circular entrance to access the Shrine, and the Ghost will be inside of the old boss encounter room beneath the Shrine.
A True Believer
This Ghost is one of the easiest to locate inside of Phogoth’s room. Head to the upper ledge oat the back of the room to find this one.
Misplaced Trust
Players should head to the Hellmouth area and sarch beneath the wizard inside the entrance that leads to the catacombs. On the map, players will be directly beneath the word “Hellmouth”, which should make tracking this Ghost a bit easier.
Dark Dreams
This Ghost is in the Lunar Battlegrounds. Players need to head to where they first begin the first mission on the Moon by heading to Sorrow’s Harbor and then south of the lost sector to locate a red bridge. Cross the bridge and move onto the next area to enter the Lunar Battlegrounds.

A Futile Search
This is another quick and easy Ghost to locate. Inside the Anchor or Light there is a small room within the large circular building in the area.
Together Forever
There is a circular space within the Circle of Bones. It is not exactly a room, but there is a large pile of bones where a player will need to search carefully to uncover this Ghost.
The Greatest Sacrifice
The Gatehouse is the next destination for our player. Head beneath the ramp in the Hellmouth and then down the stairs. To the right and a ways, a head there is a large room with normal opponents to defeat. The exit to the right and again down deeper into the area will reveal a place that sometimes, but not always, has a Barrier Knight inside. This Ghost will be located on the side near the window.
This appears to be all the locations, and the reward for finding all of the Ghosts appears to be minimal. So far, this appears to simply be a task for completionists, but the future may hold something more for those who find all of them, especially since we do not yet know what lies ahead in the second and third season following this, the Season of the Undying.
Thanks to u/Autumn_Horizon on Reddit for compiling the information into one place and a number of other contributors who helped make it complete, and provide thematic titles for each. It will be interesting to see if these Ghost Traces ever amount to anything more than some additional lore for dedicated players who find them, but we will need to wait and see what the rest of the expansion first brings.

Ghosts of the Deep is a Dungeon that was added to Destiny 2 in the Season of the Deep. This dungeon also confirms and expands the lore of King's Fall, with the corpse of Oryx, the Taken King falling from the rings of Saturn down into the oceans of its moon Titan.
Dead ghosts are collectibles in Destiny 2. Nine of them were added in Shadowkeep, hidden across the Moon. Thing got complicated further with the addition of Lost Ghost Traces, consumables that allow you to buy ghost quests from Eris Morn. You'll have to buy these quests, because the ghosts only appear after you do.
