Burgess sells sailing superyacht Drumbeg with McMaster Yachts
James McMaster at McMaster Yachts tells me he's closed on his listing for sale, the 42.9 metre sailing yacht Drumbeg , with Burgess representing the buyer.
Built by Dutch yard Vitters as a fast cruising sloop to a design by Dubois Naval Architects she is ABS classed and MCA compliant with delivery in 2004. Unusually for a sailing yacht of this size, she has five guest staterooms with four crew cabins. Accommodation is for 10 guests in a master suite, two doubles and two twins, all with en suite bathroom facilities. She is a true blue water cruising yacht with obvious charter potential.
Drumbeg has a striking interior by Rhoades Young and has been maintained to the highest standards since new. James sold the yacht to her previous owners and McMaster Yachts have managed her since.
Now renamed Bella Ragazza , Drumbeg was asking €10.95 million and will remain under management and charter through McMaster Yachts. See full details, specs and a photo gallery of superyacht Drumbeg .

Premier Listings for Drumbeg Provincial Park
Drumbeg Provincial Park is one of three provincial parks on Gabriola Island, situated at the east end of the island overlooking Gabriola Passage.
The park is a favourite spot for swimming, fishing, picnicking and sunbathing. Shelving sandstone ledges pockmark the shoreline and enclose the small sandy beach.
Drumbeg Park protects endangered Garry oak ecosystems, undeveloped Douglas fir forest landscapes and a diverse marine zone. Species such as Bald eagles, Great Blue herons, harbour seals and American oystercatchers can be spotted here, along with a number of intertidal creatures.
Gabriola Passage, the small passage between the Strait of Georgia and the Gulf Islands is very popular with recreational boaters. Divers can dive from shore at the 20-hectare Drumbeg Park or do a boat dive on Rogers Reef, whilst remaining out of the treacherous current that can run at 8 knots through Gabriola Passage. Diving in the passage is for experienced divers only – near slack tide, on the ebb.
A grassy park, pit toilets, picnic tables, hiking trails and an information shelter are all provided.
Beautiful Gabriola Island offers excellent opportunities for kayaking, diving, golfing, hiking, beachcombing and wildlife viewing. To the south of Drumbeg Park is Valdes Island, less than 250 metres across tricky Gabriola Passage.
From Nanaimo, Vancouver Island’s second largest city, take the 20-minute ferry trip to Descanso Bay on Gabriola Island. Follow either North Road or South Road to the east to reach Drumbeg Provincial Park.

The $42.9 million superyacht Drumbeg offers luxury staterooms for up to 10 people and a range of pleasurecraft for guests' amusement. Photo / Steven McNicholl
Fancy a week on one of the world's most luxurious superyachts, which is currently moored in the Viaduct Harbour in Auckland? No problem, but it will cost you up to $151,300.
Axel Clark, captain of the Drumbeg, said the seven-man crew brought the $42.9 million luxury sailing superyacht down from Fiji for the tournament.
"We arrived on Saturday and unfortunately didn't make it for the [Rugby World Cup] opening ceremony because of some bad weather.
'But it sounds like it was pandemonium on the docks so we were probably better off without it," Mr Clark said.
The crew were getting the yacht ready for its English owner who is set to arrive in New Zealand on October 1 for the last part of the tournament.
"So hopefully for him, the English team stay in the cup a little bit longer," he said.
"Then there'll be a good few guests kicking around and having a few parties and things like that so it'll be quite good."
The owners and their guests are set to stay on the Drumbeg for about three and a half weeks when they'll get taken out around the Hauraki Gulf.
The yacht has five staterooms that can hold up to 10 people and is advertised to provide a 6.2m Castoldi Jet tender with 260hp engine, a 4.7m Zodiac tender with 40hp engine, waterskis, wakeboards, windsurfers, fishing gear and diving equipment for its guests' entertainment.
While the Drumbeg's British owners will be using their superyacht for the World Cup, during other times of the year the vessel can be chartered for up to $151,300 a week during peak season, according to a superyacht website.
Mr Clark said the boat did not really have a home base and frequently moved ports.
"We've spent the last six months coming through the Pacific, then before that we were in the Caribbean, then before that we were in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.
"So we're roaming around at the moment."
The captain said the Drumbeg, which was built in Vitters Shipyard in Holland in 2004, would be based in and around Auckland for the next five months while they perform maintenance on the boat.
Berthed next to the Drumbeg in the Viaduct Harbour is the New Zealand-crewed superyacht, Janice of Wyoming.
Owned by American businessman, St Francis YC member Larry Finch and his wife Jan, the Janice of Wyoming was named winner of the ShowBoats International Superyachts Award and was a finalist in another boat competition.
Moored on the other side of the Drumbeg is keen yachtsman and New Zealand rich-lister Neville Crichton's superyacht Como.

Undiscovered Scotland
Drumbeg is reached via on the remarkably beautiful Assynt coastal road, the B869. This single track road provides a scenic link between Lochinver and Kylesku, and takes in some of Scotland's best scenery.
The village itself itself lies on the north facing coast of Assynt, looking out across Eddrachillis Bay to Handa Island and mainland Sutherland. A viewpoint with a car park has been constructed at the west end of village and from here you can take in the magnificent seascapes to the north.
And from the rocky mound opposite the viewpoint, you can gain some of the best available views of the village, along the main street and taking in the peaks of Quinag to the east.
Drumbeg's origins are vague, though the population of much of the Highlands was considerably larger than it is today prior to the clearances of the late 1700s and early 1800s. Like most of Scotland's west coast communities, it would have relied on the sea for much of its living and for its transport links. It was not until the end of the 1800s that a road reached here from Lochinver, en route to the ferry at Kylesku. (Continues below image...)
With a population of just over 100, Drumbeg is larger than it at first appears. There has been a village stores in Drumbeg for over a century. It is located in the centre of the village, not far from the Drumbeg viewpoint. It is a well stocked licenced grocer and delicatessen specialising in Scottish produce and also stocks local arts and crafts, books, maps and guides and provides light snacks. The village is also home to the Drumbeg Hotel.
Drumbeg itself has no harbour. However, a side road leading north from a junction on the B869 half a mile west of the village takes you the short distance to Culkein Drumbeg. This is an attractive hillside settlement where a jetty was built at the end of the 1800s in an effort to bring prosperity to the area.
Most vessels preferred the shelter afforded by nearby Loch Nedd, so Culkein Drumbeg never took off as a fishing port. Today the jetty is closed for safety reasons and much of it has been removed, but the bay here remains home to a number of small craft.

Luxury sail yacht Drumbeat was built in 2002 by New Zealand shipyard Alloy Yachts. With an aluminium hull and superstructure, she features exterior design by Dubois Naval Architects and the interior work of Alloy Yachts and the owner. This ketch measures 53 metres and can accommodate up to 10 guests.
Sail yacht Drumbeat was previously known by the name Salperton and was originally built for a European owner. She is fitted with carbon fibre spars and a Leisure furl in-boom furling system. She was the winner of the ShowBoats International Best Sailing Yacht Interior award in 2003 and was a finalist in the Superyacht Society Design Awards in 2002.
She underwent an extensive refit in 2007/08 that saw a redesign of her interior, gearing it more towards comfort and simple style. She also received a make-over of her engines and sails, and in 2008 received a newly painted hull. The layout of the luxury sail boat places the cockpit, pilot house, formal dining room and saloon all on one level, which is quite unusual for a sailing yacht but maximises the feeling of open space and natural light within the interior.
Amongst her four cabins are an indulgent owner’s suite and three double guest suites. The gym also hosts a bunk and two Pullman berths so can act as an extra cabin when needed. The crew’s quarters include six cabins, each with an en suite, that sleep up to 11 crew.
Luxury yacht Drumbeat is powered by a Caterpillar 3412E 1400 horsepower engine that allow her to reach maximum speeds over 16 knots.
Featuring a dedicated crew, Drumbeat is an excellent charter yacht for luxury vacations. The yacht cruises comfortably at 14 knots while her crew of nine to 10 ensure the needs of every guest are met.
The luxury sail yacht is equipped with an armada of water toys to provide endless entertainment during any yacht charter. Onboard water toys include tenders, wakeboard, waterskis, inflatables, windsurfer, kayaks, Seadoo scooters, sailing dinghies, and a range of snorkelling and diving equipment.
Drumbeat usually charters in the Caribbean but in 2009 will cruise the South Pacific during the summer and winter charter seasons. She sails to Tahiti in the summer and heads to Fiji towards winter.
