Which direction?

A big first consideration for many when planning their transatlantic is which direction to sail – east or westbound and if you’re fixed on that it will determine when you’ll go.

Westbound: Europe to the Americas & Caribbean tend to depart with the trade winds in between October-December.

Eastbound: Caribbean & Americas to Europe tend to sail between March – June (April & May most commonly).

Northbound : South Africa to Europe voyages tend to depart between April-June

How experienced are you?

Our crews are a mix of sailing abilities.

Some enter races and you’d be expected to know what you’re doing, others teach you everything you need to know on the go. You’d just need to join in with a ‘can do’ and ‘here to learn’ attitude and the professional crew will help with the rest!

We have limited spaces available on organised voyages – these trips are very popular and often book out far in advance.

First step: Explore the listings and make an enquiry on the voyages you’re interested in. You’ll receive more information by email right away and if you asked any questions we’ll get back to those as quickly as possible. In the info you receive is an intro to the skipper or crew office for the boat so you can go ahead and book with them directly if it’s the right fit. These berth options are perfect for solo travellers or couples/pairs/small groups of friends.

Tall Ship vs Yacht?

Finding the right boat for your journey is a important part of your planning, not just the route. Each boat has it’s own character, style and charm – and personality! And the on board experience varies hugely depending on the reason for the boat sailing – is it taking part in a race? Is it an ocean cruise slow travel experience? And so on. The degree to which you’ll be mustered to help with the sailing and life on board also varies so whether you’re keen to join a 50ft yacht or a full size tall ship we’re happy to talk you through the options to find the best fit.

What is it like on Board a Transatlantic Voyage?

Experience navigation, planning and life on board with your fellow crew who will be a mix of ages and from all walks of life.

There’s rarely an upper age limit on the voyages although some of the tall ships have more recently set a limit of 73 for their offshore voyages (please ask for details). Decisions on whether someone is a suitable crew are made on a case-by-case basis by the crew office for each vessel but the key requirement is good health and an enthusiasm to get involved.

Solo Travel Sail Across the Atlantic Ocean

We met as two solo travellers on board a transatlantic voyage, so we understand the opportunities and challenges of solo travel on long journeys at sea.

It was a life-changing experience for us and Another World Adventures wouldn’t exist without that solo travel experience.

The really good news for solo travellers is that when it comes to ocean sailing trips around 80% of the people joining are doing so on their own – so if all of your mates look at you like you’ve grown two heads when you tell them your Grand Plan then don’t worry, you’ll be in great company with the friends you’ll make on board.

Do I Need Prior Sailing Experience to Sail Across the Atlantic Ocean?

You do not always need much prior sailing experience to take on the challenge of a transatlantic sail although it is advised to ensure you and your fellow crew get the most out of the experience. Afterall, this is a really big experience to go into without knowing if it’s your cup-of-tea. For many of the boats we work with, especially the tall ships, sailing experience is not compulsory. Instead, the vessel crew will give you hands-on experience and training along the way – both on expedition sail yachts and tall ships. 

If you’re looking for an experience on a smaller vessel, you might need to have or get some sailing experience or qualifications beforehand. For example, some of the race boats or smaller yachts (60ft) require RYA Day Skipper or equivalent, so speak to us if you’d like more information. A few of the passages are even qualifiers for Yachtmaster Ocean mile makers, so if you have bigger ambitions for your sailing, please reach out to ask about that and about Watch Leader roles, too.

• South Africa to Canada 2019 – January – May 2019 – This was the final leg in a circumnavigation that set off in spring 2018 on board a unique sail training tall ship. Solo travellers were invited to join the crew of this remarkable vessel for the voyage of a lifetime. Unusually for the ocean crossings this voyage included lots of stops along the way.

About Atlantic Yachting

Atlantic Yachting is a boutique, family-run sailing company and Manhattan’s oldest sailing school. Since its inception in 2006, Atlantic Yachting has grown to become Manhattan’s premier sailing provider, offering everything from  Private Sailboat Charters , to Group and Private  Sailing Lessons  for adults, and New York City’s first Summer Sailing Programs for kids.

B Armstrong

B has been sailing since age 7 and teaching sailing since age 11 (You can fact check this with the Sarasota Youth Sailing Program). B came to Atlantic Yachting looking for a summer job while attending school in New York. She has since found a true home away from home with the company and her fellow instructors. B is also an actor and writer. She enjoys cycling, painting, dancing and anything related to boats or planes.

Amber Crabb

Amber learned to sail as an adult on her college sailing team in Bellingham, Washington and quickly fell in love with racing small dinghies.

After securing her US Sailing certification to teach, she began instructing at her local nonprofit boating center where she learned how cool and fast J24s are! Four years, a degree in Environmental Policy, and hundreds of sailing students later, Amber decided to move to New York for a change of scenery, pace, and community.

While racing sailboats hooked her, Amber is deeply passionate about sharing the healing and therapeutic benefits of sailing with anybody interested. When not on the water, you can find Amber working at her neighborhood coffee shop in Brooklyn (probably while drinking an iced honey oat latte!) Passionate about equitable environmental policy and climate justice, Amber hopes to pursue a law degree in the near future to become a better advocate.

Eric Emerick

Eric Emerick began sailing at age 12 on a lake in Northern Indiana. When not working on the family farm or playing soccer, he spent most Saturdays each summer competing as the youngest skipper in the local fleet, often teaching friends and family members the basics of sailing in exchange for their assistance as crew. First majoring in Engineering at Purdue University, he drastically changed tack, ultimately graduating with a Theatre Acting degree and a certificate in Entrepreneurship & Innovation. His pursuit of further training in acting technique at the Maggie Flanigan Studio brought him to New York. Nicknamed ‘The Hudson River Cowboy’ often donning his signature cowboy hat and trademark Midwestern charm, he’s been sharing his passion for the art and science of sailing with Atlantic Yachting since 2018.

Christopher Fletcher

Christopher has always found himself near some body of water – literally. Growing up in central Boston, his dad introduced him to the sport, taking him sailing on weekends on the infamous Charles River. After he gained some experience, he began sailing solo.  

In high school, he joined the race team and served as captain both Junior and Senior year. Since then he’s escaped to the water whenever time permits, most recently as part of the sailing team at Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he is a rising sophomore, and also the Sailing Team’s treasurer. He’s pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Fire Protection Engineering. In his studies, he often finds himself curious about the scientific principles of sailboats, and the theoretical properties utilized in innovative vessel designs.  

In addition to this packed schedule, Christopher also finds the time to work as a part-time tour guide. His college experience is definitely much more intense than the average student, but as someone who enjoys being busy, he says so far it’s been working out really well.

Jason Galvin

Jason is a third generation sailor who grew up on the North Fork of Long Island windsurfing and sailing Sunfish. Now he’s the proud owner of a 25′ keelboat that he sails on the Great South Bay. Have a boat project question? He’s the guy to ask! 

When we can tear Jason away from his boat to sail ours, you’ll see him on weekend Private Lessons and Practice Sails.

Jonathan Horvath

Ops Manager

Jonathan learned to sail in a small lake at a Summer program when he was nine years old. He fell in love with the sport, and ten years later he was running the program. The same thing happened here in NYC.

Jonathan is one of the veterans on our crew. He’s been with us over a decade, and in that time has done basically everything: led our Summer Sailing Camp, served as crew and captain on our private sailboat charters, and over countless lessons, helped get hundreds of new sailors out on the water. Before joining Atlantic Yachting he spent ten years teaching sailing in Rhode Island, the U.S. Virgin Islands and his home state of Florida.

Off the water, Jonathan is an actor and voice over artist, host of speed dating events, and a graduate of the Brown University/Trinity Rep. Acting Conservatory.

Assistant Youth Instructor

Henry joined Atlantic Yachting in 2019 as a camper and worked his way up to Counselor-in-Training (CIT) and then Assistant Youth Instructor. Henry has developed a strong passion for sailing and is eager to educate the next group of Atlantic Yachting campers.

Henry is a native New Yorker and attends the Collegiate School on the Upper West Side. At Collegiate, he is the Science Olympiad team captain and is a mentor and student leader of the Lower School Science Olympiad. Henry is also a dedicated volunteer at the US Coast Guard Cutter Lilac Preservation Project—right across from our marina on Pier 25! Henry is an American Sailing Association (ASA) certified Small Keelboat Instructor, He’s also a graduate of Atlantic Yachting’s ASA Basic Keelboat (ASA 101) and Coastal Cruising (ASA 103) courses. As if that weren’t enough, he also holds a US Sailing Level 1 Instructor certification.  

Ben grew up sailing 420s in high school on Lake Michigan in Chicago, IL. It quickly became his favorite extracurricular, and he eventually became captain of his high school team and joined the Husky Sailing Team at the University of Washington. He has taught youth and adult keelboat programs for two years, as well as coaching local JV High School teams in Chicago.  

He is a rising sophomore studying political science, working on potentially double majoring in aerospace engineering as well. Outside of school, Ben enjoys meeting new people, learning new skills, and exploring new places.  

We’re beyond excited that Ben decided to explore NYC and the Hudson River with us this summer.  

Jamie Monahan

Charter Mate

Jamie has grown up in and around water. Born in North Carolina she moved to Japan at age 10. From teaching swimming lessons, being on swim team, lifeguarding, and learning to scuba dive in Hawaii it’s obvious learning to sail was the natural next step.  

In 2015 she sailed her first sail with Atlantic Yachting and has been hooked ever since. This is her first summer working as a crew member and she couldn’t be happier to join the team.

Off the water, Jamie is an award-winning filmmaker, director, producer and actress.

Marcus de Oliviera

Marcus has been with us since the beginning. He is an expert sailor who has sailed, worked and lived on boats nearly all of his life. From day sailors to mega yachts he has literally done it all. He recently returned from a two years serving in the United States Coast Guard where he patrolled the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Marcus is a a USCG licensed captain and leads many of our private sailboat charters.

Dave Polakoff

Charter Captain/Senior Instructor

Dave has been sailing on the Hudson River, around New York City, for over 30 years and loves sharing his knowledge, experience, passion, and enjoyment of sailing and New York City/ Hudson River history with sailing students and charterers alike.  Dave is also a New York City licensed Sightseeing Guide. 

Dave has also logged extensive sailing hours on the Chesapeake Bay and in the British Virgin Islands.  Dave has American Sailing Association certifications up to Coastal Navigation (ASA 105), plus Basic, Coastal, and Bareboat Sailing Instructor certificates, and is licensed by the United States Coast Guard.

Dave is a graduate of Lehigh University.  When not sailing, Dave is an avid photographer and a member of the New York City rock-n-roll cover band, “OTTO,” where he’s the drummer, and would drive the band boat, if they had one.

Caroline Rowell

Caroline grew up with a love and passion for being on the water. After graduating from UNC Chapel Hill with an economics degree but a stronger desire to see the world, Caroline found herself working aboard private sailing yachts. She has sailed throughout the Bahamas, Caribbean, Central America, and even the canals of England.

She and Logan have two children, Alby and Ansen, who are fun, adventurous, and have a love for being outdoors. In the off-season, Caroline and her family can be found sailing South in search of waves, warmth, and friendly faces. She is also a founding member of the  Young Cruisers’ Association , a worldwide community of young sailors.

When not on the water or behind the scenes of AY, she is usually practicing yoga, hiking, painting or adventuring with her boys!

Logan Rowell

Logan had already restored a sailboat and was living aboard, sailing throughout the Bahamas, by the age of 18. Since then, the North Carolina native has acquired tens of thousands of miles as a yacht captain in the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Pacific; including 3 Panama Canal transits. Even after seeing everything from a win at Antigua Sailing Week, to a mid-Atlantic knock down, Logan’s greatest thrill is watching students and charter guests catch the sailing bug. He holds a US Coast Guard Masters Captains License and a Business Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Kenan-Flagler Business School. Logan was president of the UNC sailing club and a collegiate cyclist. On his days off you will definitely find him making laps in the park. As soon as the cold hits NYC, Logan heads offshore on his personal sailboat for warmer climates (and surf!).

Zoë Tomlinson

Youth Program Counselor

Zoë has been with Atlantic Yachting since 2013, where she went from camper, to Counselor-in-Training (CIT), to Counselor over her 10 years here.   After graduating high school at the Convent of Sacred Heart, Zoë began her undergraduate experience at Colorado College as part of the class of 2025.  Although still undecided regarding her academic pursuits, she is excited to find out while playing for Colorado’s basketball and lacrosse teams.

Sophie Zinberg

Sophie grew up learning to sail with Atlantic Yachting and has been an avid seagoer ever since. She’s sailed just about everything from C420s with the University of Chicago  sailing team on Lake Michigan, to crewing 45 foot catamarans in the Virgin Islands, but her favorite remains AY’s J24s on the Hudson. When she isn’t sailing, she is busy studying neuroscience at the University of Chicago, learning a new language, and honing her photography skills.

J/24 - youth programs, group & private instruction.

Our J/24’s are outstanding educational sailboats. The J/24 has become the world’s most popular keelboat and is renowned for its excellent handling and fine feel for the wind and water. The J/24 was designed to fulfill the diverse needs of recreational sailors such as cruising, one-design racing, daysailing and handicap racing. It is the perfect boat for youth sailors because it provides the feel and handling of a small boat, with the stability and safety of a larger, non-capsizing boat.

J/80 - Group & Private Instruction

The newest addition to our sail training fleet, the J/80 is a sleek, modern racer and day sailor with clean lines and a lot of power. You’ll love the spacious cockpit, large sail area and effortless boat speed, even in light wind. U.S. Eyes $156 Million Yacht in Dubai Linked to a Russian Oligarch

The U.S. Justice Department is taking steps to seize the Madame Gu, a 324-foot luxury yacht, but it will be diplomatically thorny.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — On a clear morning in late October, the jewel-blue hull of the Madame Gu, one of the world’s most luxurious superyachts, gleamed, its aluminum rails shimmering in the sun. Workers on the pier said they had recently seen people painting, cleaning and generally keeping the ship with its helipad and six guest staterooms in pristine condition.

In past years, such a scene would not have been noteworthy. Many superyachts come and go from Dubai’s Mina Rashid Marina, best known as the home of the Queen Elizabeth 2, the trans-Atlantic ocean liner-turned-hotel that dominates the waterfront here.

But Russia’s war in Ukraine has turned an otherwise routine tableau into a diplomatic battleground between the United States and the United Arab Emirates, an important American ally that has established itself as a safe haven for Russian money and assets out of the reach of U.S. sanctions.

The $156 million Madame Gu epitomizes the problem. In June, the United States designated the vessel, which is linked to Andrei Skoch, a Russian steel magnate and lawmaker under sanctions, as blocked property. That means the yacht cannot use American companies for its upkeep, employ U.S. citizens or even use the dollar. The Justice Department is now taking steps to seize the Madame Gu, according to people with knowledge of the plan.

But the United States can’t seize property in a sovereign nation without permission from its government. The Emirates, which has taken a friendlier position toward Moscow, is balking at cooperating with the United States to pursue oligarchs, American officials said. The Kremlin is also using oligarch-controlled companies in the Emirates to acquire war supplies that the West is trying to keep out of Russia’s reach, according to a Western official involved in the sanctions effort against Russia.

Emirati officials did not comment specifically on the Madame Gu but said in a statement that they took their role “protecting the integrity of the global financial system extremely seriously.”

A closer examination of Russian assets in the Emirates shows that even before the war in Ukraine, Dubai had become a playground for Russians with links to President Vladimir V. Putin. At least 38 businessmen or officials with ties to the Russian president own homes in Dubai that are collectively valued at more than $314 million, according to the Center for Advanced Defense Studies. Five of those owners are under U.S. sanctions.

Since the Russian invasion, Dubai has established itself as a safe haven for Russian yachts and aircraft unable to sail or fly elsewhere. After Russian jets were barred from the European Union in late February, the Emirates became the destination for 14 percent of all private flights leaving Russia, up from 3 percent before the invasion.

“It’s frustrating when you see huge assets that are sitting out there and it appears that the country is not cooperating,” said Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, referring to the Emirates. “It would be nice if there were more common cause against Putin while he’s busy shelling hospitals and schools.”

Mr. Whitehouse is sponsoring legislation that would use proceeds of the sales of seized Russian assets to help rebuild Ukraine. Senior officials at the Treasury and State Departments have also complained publicly about the situation.

U.S. officials view the presence of superyachts in places like Dubai and Bodrum, Turkey , as a symptom of wider Russian circumvention of sanctions and continued access to financial markets. Yachts have also come to symbolize the decadence of Russia’s oligarchs, especially at a time when Russian soldiers are scrounging for body armor and sleeping bags on the front lines.

Pursuing the Madame Gu

Built by the Dutch firm Feadship and put into service in 2013, the Madame Gu has a large helicopter pad on its forecastle with a hangar underneath that can double as a squash court when the chopper isn’t on board. The vessel has berthing for 36 crew members, according to one trade magazine.

Mr. Skoch, a member of Russia’s Parliament who is linked to assets worth billions of dollars, according to U.S. court filings, has had sanctions imposed on him twice by the United States, first in 2018 and then after Russia’s invasion this year. The Treasury Department has cited his “longstanding ties to Russian organized criminal groups.”

Mr. Skoch could not be reached and did not respond to messages left at his office at Parliament.

In an interview in October about the government’s broader efforts to go after the assets of oligarchs, Andrew Adams, a federal prosecutor leading the Department of Justice’s KleptoCapture task force, declined to discuss the Madame Gu. But the United States, he said, is warning companies they must not do business with individuals and assets under sanctions. The government, he said, will pursue oligarch-owned assets whose sale could be used to aid Ukraine.

“Where we know there is an asset that can potentially provide significant remuneration for Ukraine, that obviously is an attractive case to pursue,” he said.

U.S. officials are likely to use the case they made for impounding a $90 million Airbus business jet linked to Mr. Skoch in August as a blueprint for seizing the Madame Gu, said people familiar with the plan.

That means investigators will aim to show that the owner of the vessel, or the companies that have been providing services to it, have intersected with the U.S. financial system.

“If there are U.S. dollars or a U.S. nexus associated with supporting this vessel, massive enforcement actions could take place,” said Adam M. Smith, a former official overseeing sanctions at the Treasury Department. Companies that provide support to entities under sanctions could potentially face their own sanctions, said Mr. Smith, who is now a lawyer at Gibson Dunn in Washington.

This year the United States has carried out two high-profile seizures of yachts tied to Russians under sanctions, working with cooperative governments. The $300 million Amadea was taken in Fiji in May and sailed to San Diego under an American flag. In April, the United States worked with Spanish police to seize the $90 million Tango.

A Problematic Partner

Diplomatically, the Emirates has been reluctant to take a clear anti-Russian position when it comes to the war in Ukraine. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the United Arab Emirates, recently met with Mr. Putin in St. Petersburg, and the Emirati foreign minister recently hosted his Russian counterpart. Yet Sheikh Mohammed has also talked with Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, more than once and recently gave the country $100 million in humanitarian aid.

The United States has publicly expressed dismay over the mixed messages.

During a visit to Dubai in June, Wally Adeyemo, the U.S. deputy treasury secretary, warned of the need for vigilance and proactive steps in combating Russian evasion. That same month Barbara Leaf, the State Department’s under secretary for Near East Affairs, said at a congressional hearing that regarding the Emirates, she was “not happy at all with the record at this point” on sanctions enforcement. Mr. Adeyemo reiterated his concerns in a meeting with Emirati officials in October in Washington.

A senior State Department official said in a statement to The New York Times that the agency continues “to reinforce the importance of conducting enhanced due diligence to prevent sanctions evasion and investigating allegations of such activity” to the Emirates.

The Treasury Department declined to comment on the Madame Gu or the relationship with the Emirates.

Last month, the Treasury Department announced it had placed sanctions on an Emirates-based company, Constellation Advisors Ltd., that the American government said was operating on behalf of a nephew of another Russian oligarch, Suleiman Kerimov. Mr. Kerimov, according to American court documents, was the owner of the Amadea superyacht .

American officials are also worried the Russian government is using the Emirates to acquire military supplies for its war in Ukraine. On Nov. 15, the Treasury Department imposed sanctions on two Emirates-based transportation firms that had worked with another Iranian firm under sanctions, which in turn had helped transport drones and personnel from Iran to Russia.

Moored in Dubai

Based on a recent visit to Dubai’s Mina Rashid Marina , where the Madame Gu is moored, it is clear that international companies are playing a critical role in its care.

The Emirates-based company DP World, through its subsidiary P&O Marinas , oversees the pier where the Madame Gu is moored. Employees from another DP World subsidiary , World Security, staff the small guard box at the entrance. That makes DP World, which is owned by Dubai’s royal family, potentially vulnerable to American sanctions.

DP World “fully complies with all applicable local and national laws and intends to continue doing the same regarding the Madame Gu and other vessels utilizing our services,” said Adal Mirza, a spokesman for the company. He added that DP World had not yet heard from the United States or other countries that had placed Mr. Skoch under sanctions, including Britain and the European Union.

A generator set that dock workers said in late October was powering the Madame Gu — two container-like structures near its stern — bore the distinctive orange logo of Aggreko , a British company. The generator set was connected to the superyacht by thick cords; one of the containers was emitting grayish exhaust.

At the Mina Rashid Marina, soon after Aggreko was contacted by The Times, workers removed the generator. “Having identified that the generator was being used to power a vessel that is allegedly connected to a sanctioned person, we immediately terminated this rental and have since recovered the generator,” the company said in a statement.

Mr. Mirza, the DP World spokesman, said the Aggreko generator had been replaced with one from a local supplier.

P&O Marinas arranged for the diesel generator to provide power for the Madame Gu because that part of the pier, a holding area, has no shore-supplied electric power, said a port official in Dubai, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to talk to the press.

“At the end of the day, if the U.A.E. hasn’t imposed sanctions, it’s not really their job to enforce other countries’ laws within their borders,” said Nabeel Yousef, a Washington-based partner at the law firm Freshfields, where he runs the sanctions practice. Nevertheless, “companies should not take comfort in the fact that their country has not imposed sanctions,” he added, “because even the smallest connection to the U.S. can lead to U.S. penalties.”

There has also been a notable absence onboard the Madame Gu in recent weeks: a flag. Unlike other ships moored nearby, including the Quantum Blue, a superyacht linked to the billionaire Sergei Galitsky, the Madame Gu appears to be stateless, apparently having been deflagged by the Cayman Islands.

Cayman Islands officials didn’t respond to an emailed inquiry about the ship’s status.

If DP World were to face fallout from U.S. sanctions enforcers, it wouldn’t be the first time the company has been the focus of attention in Washington. In 2006, DP World was seeking to manage some terminal operations at six American ports but dropped out of the deal after a bipartisan uproar in Congress.

In June 1959, a young Andrew Jackson opened a yacht and aircraft sales office in Miami making what we today know as  Atlantic Yacht & Ship, Inc ., one of the earliest yacht brokerage firms in South Florida.  Incorporated as Andy Jackson Yacht & Aircraft, Inc., the company had a private aircraft sales division and a commercial vessel division that specialized in tugs, barges and small ships.Andy decided to retire in August 1979 and sold the business to a local yacht salesman named Bob Skillen.

Bob moved Andy Jackson Yacht & Aircraft to the heart of the Yacht Brokerage Community, Fort Lauderdale.  Yacht Captain Joe Marino along with Arpad Papp, a Power & Sportfishing Yacht salesman joined Bob in April of 1980 and in August 1984 purchased Andy Jackson Yacht & Aircraft, Inc. Understanding the revolution of an ever-changing industry, partners Marino and Papp officially changed the brokerage name to Atlantic Yacht & Ship, Inc. in October 1987.

The late 80’s and early 90’s brought about many changes in the Yachting Brokerage industry; Atlantic Yacht & Ship continue to thrive with more than a dozen licensed yacht brokers.  In 1997 the brokerage strategically moved its location to Harbour Towne Marina in Dania Beach making it one of the few Brokerages to offer its client a water- front, full service marina.

Mack Carroll, a top-performing yacht broker from Berry Boger Yacht Sales located Myrtle Beach, SC, joined Atlantic Yacht & Ship in April of 1997 and by March of 1999 he had become the top yacht broker.  Carroll eagerly joined Marino as partner of the brokerage. Charles “Ed” Biggie, a top broker from HMY Yacht Sales, was invited to become a third partner of Atlantic Yacht & Ship in 2002.  In addition to his very diverse background, Ed brought a very strong marine service reputation.

In 2004,  Atlantic Yacht Services  was opened to provide full marine service for all our clients and the general boating community. Had to wait for the food for 1.5 hours and then another 20 minutes for the check. Finally called for the manager and he offered... a 10% discount as a compensation. Simply pathetic! The food is mediocre at best. Not bad per se, but one... would expect something better considering the prices. There are many places to eat in area that are much better. Avoid this one at all costs. Food is very expensive,very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left... without dessert. Very poor service for that price. More

This is a very good restaurant. The food is really good, maybe the best in Moscow. The service is also good. The view from the restaurant is great. The prices are very high.

I often visit this restaurant and must say it’s one of the best in Moscow in terms of quality and service. Staff really try hard to make sure that you are happy and satisfied. Customer service is a huge problem in Moscow but Chaika sets... a great example for others in the industry! Food is delicious and the menu has lots of options for everyone! Visited this lovely restaurant with a friend of mine. It was relaxingly warm August evening - so the place on the river seemed like a good idea. We came quite early and the restaurant was not full. The hostesses kindly offered several places to sit... and we chose to sit on the sofas. We had some wine, which was good. We struggled a bit when deciding about the food as few options (scallops) were not available. Fish on ice on display did not look very fresh. To be honest it was an unusually hot August and it is probably understandable that some see food options were not available. However, we did manage to order something and sat waiting and looking onto the river. My long-legged friend struggled sitting at the low sofa and the manager noticed that, offering as a very good, proper table beside the open window. It was nice touch and I was very pleased by their polite observations and immediate reaction to solve the problem. Food was quite good and presentation was perfect. Perhaps I can something about the food, but 1 visit is not enough to criticize or make a definitive opinion. Overall, quality place, which of course, does not come cheap. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. More
