Owner of 60m Feadship superyacht ROCK.IT owner explains his design choices

  • Superyachts

Feadship's 60-metre beauty ROCK.IT is testament to the custom superyacht experience...

“When the doors slide open on the main deck, every time I come in there it just blows me away!” says Jimmy John Liautaud. Words spoken by a proud owner show just how 60.34-metre ROCK.IT has more than lived up to expectations after her first year on the water.

“ ROCK.IT is very sleek and bold without being pretentious,” says exterior and interior designer Sander Sinot of Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design. “A natural flow of lines and surfaces makes the yacht breathe speed and exude elegance.”

A marriage of cool Dutch design and hot American passion has given the yacht a unique soul, and, after her first year of cruising , ROCK.IT has taken on a personality of her own.

“The owner wanted to have a yacht that was fast from the outside and cosy from the inside,” says Sipke Halbertsma, sales manager at Feadship. “ ROCK.IT has a classic Feadship hull from the front, but if you look at her profile you’ll see the exterior lines work to make her look fast.”

However, the aggressive, forward movement of the exterior is softened by the interior, also by Sinot: a marriage of old Americana mahogany and modern Dutch minimalism. A surprising pairing, perhaps, but one that works hard to earn its keep as both a cosy family retreat and a raring-to-go party space.

Nothing is out of place, and the rooms don’t feel busy, but there is a warmth that pervades above all. It manages to be both contemporary and comfortable.

yacht rock.it owner

However, this is not just any mahogany. The highest quality crotched mahogany was sourced and then ‘folded’ out, so that the panels all match symmetrically, a difficult and lengthy process. Lavish use of glass throughout means the interior benefits from lots of natural light, stopping the wood from feeling too heavy.

ROCK.IT cockpit

A well-stocked bar with backlit white onyx proves the focal part of the room, from which the spaces divide out into individual lounging areas, each made distinct by their own soft cream carpet.

ROCK.IT feels voluminous, and while the high ceilings certainly aid this, so does the interior design, which allows for spaces to flow from one designated area to the next, creating capsule environments. Rather than having the feeling of a bridge deck salon, the room is separated into useful and efficient spaces, which makes it feel much larger.

Bars are a recurring theme on board, with each deck hosting a unique and ample-sized offering. On the main deck, the bar, complete with full-height wine chiller, is the first thing you see when you walk through the sliding doors.

Resplendent in backlit onyx and glossy mahogany and based in a circular ante-chamber, it separates the formal dining space, with a stunning table by Pollaro, and the outside entertaining space, immediately imparting the good-time vibe felt throughout ROCK.IT .

ROCK.IT saloon

In the centre is a table and chairs, made in-house by Feadship, and drawing the whole area together as a relaxed lounging space that accommodates all twelve guests. Aft of the central bar is a row of deckchairs and a large tender and two Yamaha Waverunners.

“We have some owners that want two or three tenders and lots of toys, but the owner of ROCK.IT is really about yachting and diving, so the guest tender we store up top and the rescue tender is in a big hatch forward of the bridge,” says Halbertsma.

Not having the tenders stored in the beach club gives a feeling of more space elsewhere on the yacht, especially in the guest and crew accommodation.

As a yard, Feadship is known for focusing its efforts on offering bespoke superyachts , where there is no ordinary and exceptional is the new normal. And exceptional is no hyperbole. Liautaud took the ability to create a custom superyacht and ran with it.

“During his many visits to the yard, we had terrific fun with this unconventional and no-compromise client,” says CEO Henk de Vries. “His between-your-eyes honesty and tremendous respect for and appreciation of Feadship craftsmanship pushed us to new heights.”

ROCK.IT is one of the quietest yachts Feadship has ever made, and also was the first to utilise an intuitive control and manoeuvring system, commonly used on navy ships. The system allows ROCK.IT to keep her heading at anchor by hovering on the main engine and thrusters.

“I was willing to accept this new system because it comes from a proven military background,” says ROCK.IT ’s build captain. “The manoeuvring system represents a real step towards the future. To make it happen took real vision and considerable skill.”

ROCK.IT owner's cabin

This allows all the guest cabins, consisting of two large doubles, a smaller double and a twin, to be large and well-appointed, keeping a democratic harmony and reinforcing the feel of the yacht as a family home away from home.

Unsurprisingly, however, the owner’s cabin is pretty spectacular. Full beam and located on the main deck, the suite is accessed via an opulent marble lobby, past the dramatic mahogany-panelled staircase which links the guest areas.

A private study opens out into the full-beam cabin, which is characterised by the same deep mahogany as seen throughout the rest of the yacht, and soft furnishings in creams and whites. Huge windows ensure the room is always full of light.

ROCK.IT bathroom

Forward are large his’n’hers bathrooms, gleaming with marble and backlit stone. The sink in Liautaud’s bathroom is crafted from a single block of black Portoro marble, weighing almost 500 kilograms.

His wife Leslie’s side boasts a large French-style free standing bath, a rarity on a superyacht, as well as a wealth of Staturio marble and an elegant vanity unit.

With so much effort put into creating such a homely space, it would be easy to expect the owners to never leave their suite, however this is far from the case. There is no favourite space on board: “You know what, I love them all,” says Liautaud.

“We spend least time on the main deck, we spend most of our time on the swim platform and the sundeck, and we live in the bridge deck.”

The bridge deck is a compromise between the formal main deck and the relaxed sundeck. An al fresco dining table aft can be sheltered from a breeze by sliding glass panels, and the large doors into the salon create an easy inside/outside entertaining space.

Further aft, two smaller tables surrounded by sofas move up and down to serve either as coffee tables or dining tables, and match the larger table to create a symbiosis between the areas.

ROCK.IT

“Sander Sinot and Leslie did all of the art on board,” says the owner. “A couple of friends and musicians gave us a couple of pieces. I did the hardscape and Leslie did all the soft and the colour. That’s our deal.” The art makes the rooms feel personal, and adds a vitality to the otherwise flawless walls.

“Each Feadship is totally unique and no two Feadship owners are the same,” says De Vries. “It is our privilege to create the most amazing yachts on the oceans for the most fascinating people on the planet, and it has been a great experience to partner with the owner of ROCK.IT .”

The experience is, of course, of an owner involving himself in every aspect of the creation of his yacht, which, although perhaps not always easy, is what allows it to come alive in such a palpable way.

yacht rock.it owner

This is perhaps what gives her such a tangible soul, the passion that went into creating something that would still excite so much after so many days spent aboard. ROCK.IT is an apt name for a yacht that makes an owner’s heart soar, like a rocket into outer space.

Motor Yacht

The 60.35 metre superyacht ROCK.IT launched from the Feadship yard in 2014, bringing an effortless style to the water thanks to exterior design from Sinot Yacht Design and engineering and architecture from De Voogt Naval Architects. A new wave of contemporary style with traditional comforts, ROCK.IT was designed and built for an experienced owner who made the leap from chartering Feadships, to creating thier own custom superyacht.

Fast, sleek and modern styling gives way to a cosy and expertly designed interior, also by Sinot Yacht Design, which accommodates up to 10 guests in 5 staterooms.  Dark precious woods and light stones are blended in a fantastically detailed classic modern interior. Splendidly spacious thanks to the full-beam throughout, crotched mahogany and striking diagonally veneered sycamore panelling create a very personal touch. Backlit pure White Onyx in combination with the most exquisite Portoro and other marbles elevate the interior to a higher level without losing its main purpose of being a true family yacht. But ROCK.IT is also a party boat when the time is right.

One of the most striking features is the skylight in the sun deck canopy, which dims automatically depending on the strength of the sunlight. This allows for an open feel while optimising comfort levels. The bespoke superyacht project features an innovative control and maneuvering system developed for naval applications, never before seen on a yacht. This allows ROCK.IT to keep her heading at anchor, hovering on the main engine and the thrusters. Optimal use of the various manoeuvring modes is made by means of a three-axis steering joystick with a rotational factor.

Rock.It Yacht Review

The story of superyacht Rock.It began with an owner inspired by a charter on board another Feadship yacht . The brief to create a yacht that is ‘fast from the outside and cosy on the inside’ has delivered a bespoke 60.35m (197’) superyacht aligned with Feadship’s brand values of custom building, craftsmanship and innovation.

yacht rock.it owner

A future classic exterior

The elegantly sculpted exterior will doubtless become a future classic and offers three superior deck levels and a distinctive profile that emphasises the beautiful, elongated bow.

The deck furnishings are stunning and a testament to the design skill of Sinot Yacht Design who also penned the interior designs. The thoughtful layout features a range of refined furnishings designed for comfort but stylishly embellished with rich wood finishes and nautical-inspired fabrics.

yacht rock.it owner

The sundeck has been developed without bulwarks, opening up the space all the way from the forward jacuzzi through to the aft lounge area. There are forward and aft-facing bars, separated by a service area and an innovative skylight in the canopy which dims automatically depending on the strength of the sun. The circular forward jacuzzi is surrounded by glass balustrades which preserves the 360-degree views which can be enjoyed while relaxing in or around the bubbling spa.

The stainless steel, wood and glass railings surrounding the upper deck stand out as an example of the attention to detail demonstrated by Feadship's artisan craftsmen. The outdoor aft deck flows seamlessly into the sky lounge to create a vast entertainment space featuring a dining table and furniture that can be arranged to suit any occasion.

The inside story

The original owner wanted to create an old-school, classic interior with a warm, friendly and homely environment. Exploring the yacht reveals a series of inviting sociable areas across the upper and main deck, a spectacular central lobby and staircase finished in mahogany with sycamore inlay and state-of-the-art guest and crew facilities, notably the huge galley.

yacht rock.it owner

The main salon boasts three distinct zones, a circular wine bar as you enter from the aft deck, a vast formal lounge area and a dining room separate from the lounge by built-in cabinetry housing a retractable TV. Rich gloss wood finishes frame the exterior views and stunning inlaid custom wood dining and coffee tables designed by Frank Pollaro create perfect settings for leisurely dinners, drinks or a movie night.

The grand staterooms are across the main and lower deck with the private owner’s suite dominating the forward position on the main deck and the further four guest suites arranged amidships on the lower deck. Dark wood and mirrored panels, large windows and warm neutral fabrics create havens for all guests on board and the marble-finished ensuite bathrooms are simply stunning. The owner’s suite has "his and hers" bathrooms, with hers including a freestanding bathtub.

yacht rock.it owner

The owner recognises the importance of a contented crew and the design of the working facilities and crew accommodation include a high-quality captain’s suite, top-of-the-range galley and generous crew mess and cabins. The bridge and engine room are fitted with the latest technology guaranteed to deliver comfortable cruising and the garage is full to the brim with exciting water toys. Enjoy the finer details onboard such as Frette linens, Lalique crystal glassware, Hermès tableware and Molton Brown bath products.

With so much to keep guests in the lap of luxury on board, the opportunity to experience everything a superyacht can offer in the ocean, should not be missed. The beach platform can host endless water’s edge fun and games and the crew are fully trained to assist with the water toys which include the latest jet skis, sea bobs, wakeboards, SUPs, a floating island for 8 people and an assortment of fishing and snorkelling equipment.

yacht rock.it owner

Superyacht Rock.It represents the true meaning of a custom yacht while maintaining a family feel. She is available for charter seasonally on both sides of the Atlantic.

The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht screamed 'I will kill you' and threw $100 bills into the water when told he couldn't use a private dock

The owner of a Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee, per CBS8.

The employee said Ajay Thakore mooned and threw cash at him after being told he couldn't use the dock.

Thakore, the CEO of Doctor Multimedia, issued an apology through his public relations team.

The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee after being told he couldn't be there, the San Diego-based broadcaster CBS8 reported on March 11.

Joseph Holt, a 21-year-old employee at Marriot Marina in San Diego, told CBS8 that he spotted the yacht sailing into the private dock. The owner, whom CBS8 identified as Ajay Thakore, tried to pick another person up at the dock, Holt said.

"I told him respectfully that he couldn't be there, and I honestly was hoping to have a conversation with him about his cool boat," Holt told CBS8.

In a YouTube video posted by @SM-wc9eq on March 10, a dark blue Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is seen sailing out of a dock. A man in a gray T-shirt, a pair of jeans, and a cap was shown standing on the yacht. The man appeared to be Thakore, per CBS8.

Thakore was shown shouting at Holt. "I will kill you, you know I will kill you!" he can be heard saying multiple times in the video

Thakore was later shown pounding his fist on his palm and pointing his thumb down before telling Holt: "To your face!" Holt was shown responding by pointing his middle finger at Thakore.

"I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird," Holt told CBS8.

Holt said Thakore then took $100 bills from his wallet and threw them at him. He added that Thakore mooned him. This exchange was not shown in the video.

"He was saying I'm nobody, I'm nothing, I work a silly job. He said that he knows people, he has connections, he can change my life and ruin it," Holt said. Holt did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.

The San Diego Harbor Police arrived at the marina 10 minutes after Thakore's yacht exited the dock, per CBS8. The Harbor Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BI.

According to Thakore's LinkedIn page , he's the CEO of Doctor Multimedia. The company's website shows that it's a healthcare marketing firm based in San Diego. Thakore appears to go by the name Ace Rogers on Instagram and TikTok, where he's noted as being a professional gambler.

Thakore, through his public relations team, told CBS8 in a statement that his altercation with Holt was "regrettable."

"What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange," the statement said. Thakore did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BI.

Thakore isn't the only CEO who's been called out for threatening another person. In November 2021, an Activision spokesperson told BI that its ex-CEO Bobby Kotick had previously apologized for telling his assistant he would have her killed. The spokesperson added that Kotick's threat was "obviously hyperbolic and inappropriate" and that "he deeply regrets the exaggeration and tone."

In June 2020, Lisa Alexander, the CEO of LaFace Skincare, a cosmetics company, apologized in a statement to the media after she had threatened to call the police on her neighbor for writing "Black Lives Matter" on his property. Alexander said in the apology that she was "disrespectful" and "should have minded my own business."

Who is Ajay Thakore? San Diego Lamborghini Yacht owner threatens dock worker in viral video

A n Indian-origin California business owner Ajay Thakore recently made headlines when he reportedly threatened a dockyard worker at San Diego's Marriott Marina after the latter refused to let the former park his $4.5 million Lamborghini Yacht, as per Times Now News.

The video of the incident has now gone viral online. While the face of the man threatening the dock employee saying "I will kill you!" multiple times remains unclear in the footage, many media outlets, including the New York Post confirmed it was Ajay Thakore, who has previously been part of similar confrontations.

Apart from threatening to kill the dock worker, the man in the video also flashed at the latter, as the yacht moved away from the marina. In the wake of this incident, here's looking at who Ajay Thakore is.

Ajay Thakore also goes by the name Ace Rogers

According to Daily Mail, Ajay Thakore also goes by the name Ace Rogers and he is a wealthy businessman and philanthropist based in San Diego, California. He is the CEO of Doctor Multimedia, a local medical marketing agency, and Gopher Media LLC.

He has previously faced similar controversy in 2021 when he was accused of harassing the employees of a La Jolla pizza joint called American Pizza Manufacturing. Its founder Andrew Melone alleged back then that it all started with Thakore defaming the take-and-bake pizza establishment on social media.

However, things escalated when the Indian-origin business owner reportedly parked two of his cars directly in front of the eatery, blocking its entrance, with texts, "Take N Bake Pizza Sucks" glaring on top of it.

Melone also claimed that an airplane flew over the locality with the banner reading, "Just Say No to Take N Bake Pizza." Not only that but Ajay Thakore reportedly involved another pizzeria in the area Carino's, with planes displaying messages like "Carino's Pizza is Better than Take N Bake."

Additionally, Thakore and his companies filed a $10 million lawsuit against Andrew Melone and his public accusations, claiming that they were "exercising their First Amendment Rights" and protesting against discrimination. The owner of the pizzeria countersued, alleging Thakore had persistently harassed him and his company. The two civil lawsuits are still underway.

Exploring the recent controversy surrounding Ajay Thakore

On the afternoon of March 10, 2024, Ajay Thakore's multimillion-dollar Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht was not allowed to park in the Seaforth Boat Rental lot in San Diego's Marriott Marina. He was reportedly there to pick up an employee. The video of the incident has now gone viral.

It shows a man standing on the edge of the yacht threatening to "kill" the worker identified as Joseph Holt, as per CBS 8. Later, as the boat moved away from the dock, the former dropped his pants and made inappropriate gestures toward the 21-year-old employee. The harasser even threw $100 bills at the guy which fell into the water.

Holt told reporters that he "respectfully" told the driver not to park in the private space and was hoping to have a "conversation" with him about his "cool boat," when "it completely went the other way."

"I really didn't know how to process it. I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird," Holt stated.

The employee also mentioned how Thakore berated him for his minimum wage labor and called him a nobody who did nothing on a "silly job." The expensive boat owner allegedly threatened to have him fired using his "connections" and ruin his life.

The dock worker further continued,

"He had dropped his pants and started to make gestures to everybody watching and me. You can't act that way in public. It's just not okay. Especially threatening my life, at the very least. There were women and children there. That's the most important part."

In contrast, Ajay Thakore's public relations team told CBS 8 that the "interaction" was "regrettable."

"What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange," the statement added.

Later, Ajay Thakore's employee Jason, whom the former was supposed to pick up during the fiasco, also issued a clarification via his boss' Instagram (@acerogersceo). He said that he was not allowed to get aboard, and was asked to "stand back" and even "forearmed" which is when Thakore allegedly "flipped" as he was protective of him, his fiancé, and his other employees, tagging it as a long-drawn misunderstanding.

In the caption of the post, it was Ajay Thakore who seemed to issue a statement:

"As a leader, I defend my own fiercely with everything I have, and I will never apologize for that. You can choose to believe that I just pulled up to the dock and started yelling, or you can realize that a lot happened before the cameras were rolling and that it takes two sides to escalate a situation."

Notably, in the aftermath of the incident, Port of San Diego Harbor Police were called in, who arrived 10 minutes after Ajay Thakore's boat left the marina. Joseph Holt told the news outlet that the officers didn't take his complaints seriously and were even laughing at him.

The department responded by telling CBS 8 that they were called in to deal with a "possible intoxicated vessel operator" who had departed the area before they got there and that they were unable to do anything with. The statement went on to say that a report had been made and that the police had spoken with the complainant and witnesses.

on-board-with-superyacht-owner-ric-kayne

On board with Ric Kayne, owner of 63.4m SuRi

The American private equity investor became interested in boats as a way of keeping his growing family together. Since then the bug has bitten, taking him and SuRi to all corners of the globe, he tells Jim Raycroft

If you want to interview Ric Kayne, owner of 63.4-metre expedition yacht SuRi , you have to catch him first – and he doesn’t sit still for long. I manage to finally corner the 74-year-old near Savusavu in Fiji , where he and his wife Suzanne have just celebrated their wedding anniversary. But as soon as I land on the yacht by helicopter, he’s immediately whisked off in his 11-metre Intrepid to explore a new diving spot.

The man is a moving target – agile, active and in great shape. Once his morning satellite Wi-Fi routine is over, he gets busy cramming as much fun into each day as possible. He is still active as co-chairman of private investment firm Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors and for the past seven years or so has been making headlines in New Zealand for developing the internationally recognised Tara Iti Golf Club.

Kayne grew up on Long Island, New York , in a family that believed in the value of a good education and hard work. He was a natural with numbers, and statistics seemed a good fit. Following Stanford, he earned an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management. After working as an analyst in New York, he returned to Los Angeles where he was a stockbroker until 1984, when he started Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors with the late John Anderson.

“We are one of the oldest of what we call alternative investment firms – alternative in the sense that we don’t really invest in a mainstream kind of way. The firm was really started as a way to manage our own money, and money for people who were comfortable with the way we did it.

“Today, we manage about $30 billion [£25bn] or so. We have about 300-and-something people around the US. I’m very, very proud of it. I have an approach to management that really is what I would call ‘empowerment’ in the sense that I’m not a micro-manager – I’m not sitting on top of people. I try to hire people who are worthy of having ownership and so I think what you would find on SuRi , for example, is that the captain basically owns the boat.”

Kayne has long been a keen golfer and an avid amateur pilot but didn’t catch the boat bug until about 20 years ago. What got him into it was family. The Kaynes’ three daughters were becoming teenagers and were busy doing what most teenagers do – distancing themselves from their parents. “My wife and I tried [boating] as a tactic to get our daughters involved in a family experience – it turned into a family tradition,” he says.

The first meaningful boating experience came around 2002 when he chartered the 37.8-metre Delta Scott Free out of St Martin. “I knew we were on to something,” he says. “We followed up on that first trip and chartered five or six more times, off the Turkish coast, the Amal coast, in the Caribbean a couple of times and Costa Rica. The family loved the yacht experience; all the trips were wonderful.”

The experiences got him thinking about building his own boat. He delved into research, spending time aboard superyachts with various capabilities, talking to captains and generally gathering as much information as possible. All of that work led to JeMaSa , a 50-metre yacht capable of handling his Eurocopter and a fleet of tenders and toys, all hidden away, built by Hakvoort . Launched in 2006, JeMaSa was named after the Kaynes’ three daughters, Jenni, Maggie and Saree. The first trips were to the Med and then to the Caribbean. “After that we spent very little time on the charter milk runs.”

The yacht took the Kayne family around the world, leaving the glitzy Côte d’Azur behind to explore the fjords of Norway , Alaska and far-flung destinations in the South Pacific . “It was the adventure of doing rather than seeing and being seen that attracted me to yachting,” he says.

It wasn’t long before the toy box was over flowing. “I’m a toy guy, I love toys. My curiosity compels me,” he says. “It also became apparent that keeping the helicopter outside on the touch-and-go helipad was not the right way to do it.”

Kayne became intrigued by the idea of a capable craft able to carry all the kit he wanted without encroaching on deck or interior spaces. Soon the search began for an off shore supply boat with enough room for a massive garage to keep the helicopter and the ever-growing collection of toys out of the weather and follow JeMaSa around. A 52-metre crabber that had worked the Aleutians as Fierce Contender in the television series Deadliest Catch looked as if it would work as long as they could figure out how to create space for all the toys.

“Designing the garage was a challenge,” Kayne says. “In addition to the helicopter we had a hovercraft, one of the world’s noisiest boats, a hand-built mahogany speedboat, a work boat, WaveRunners, Sea-Doos, sailboats, ski and wakesurfing boats and, eventually, an amphibious airplane.”

Kayne, who has been flying since he was 16, was determined to get an aircraft aboard . When he could not find any other way to make it happen, he supported the research and development of a folding wing system patented by amphibious aircraft company SeaRey. Naturally he became its first customer, and the system is now available as an option on SeaRey’s Elite model.

The conversion of Fierce Contender to shadow yacht was completed in Seattle over the winter of 2007 and the renamed SuRi joined JeMaSa for the first time in Denarau, Fiji. A photograph on the wall of SuRi’s saloon shows the two boats tied up stern to stern. Kayne calls it his “hundred-metre articulated yacht”.

However, the two boats were rarely together. After a local boat T-boned JeMaSa in the Galápagos and the yacht had to spend several months in a New Zealand yard for repairs, SuRi picked up the slack. And that, Kayne says, was the tipping point. “Our family was growing and neither yacht was adequate for carrying all the people and all the toys,” he says. “By this time, I knew exactly what we wanted, so I did another silly thing – I decided to sell JeMaSa and jumbo-size SuRi .”

In 2011, SuRi arrived in Alameda, California for another major refit. This time, Bay Ship and Yacht cut the boat in half and added a 10.7-metre mid-section that brought her length to 63.4 metres. The extra length added guest cabins, pilot and security cabins, a lounge with two large “windows to the sea” cut into the hull, a larger sundeck, helideck and what is arguably the largest toy garage-cum-aircraft hangar afloat outside the US Navy.

Kayne immediately went to work filling his new hangar with even more toys and SuRi became the ultimate fun factory. The most recent addition is a crane capable of handling a serious multi-passenger submarine . “My mother absolutely delighted in showing people experiences that they might not have had on their own. For us to take family and friends on this boat has been that kind of a situation,” says Kayne, now a grandfather who enjoys seeing his grandchildren interact with marine life, and the smiles on the faces of his guests.

Because they keep themselves so busy, the Kaynes don’t spend more than a few weeks a year on the boat, so decided to kick SuRi’s charter programme into high gear. Kayne describes the boat fondly as “sort of an ugly duckling” but one that can deliver what people value most – experiences. The low-key decor focuses on comfort as opposed to glamour, but the food and service rival those of the world’s glitziest superyachts .

“Whatever it is that you want to do – put jet boots on your feet and go flying up in the air, go kitesurfing, take a cruise in a Riva type of boat, or go wakeboarding, wake surfing, waterskiing, fishing or diving, you just go and do it.”

He still enjoys spending time on SuRi but, he says, he is almost done with tweaking the boat. What excites Kayne these days is his golf project. Seven years ago, he bought an oceanfront property between Auckland and Whangarei on New Zealand’s North Island and set out to develop an American-style golf club. Tara Iti has now been open for three years and is ranked among the top golf courses in the world . He calls the club a “land-based superyacht” for its top-notch location and service.

Getting the project started was not easy and there was some pushback, but in the process he’s fallen in love with the country, its people and culture. “New Zealand is a treasure,” he says.

Recently, he filed an application with New Zealand’s Overseas Investment Office to expand further with the goal of making it a world-class golf destination. “If we are fortunate enough to get the approval, we’re going to build what we believe will cause more people to come and visit,” he says. “In the US we have the Monterey coast, where you have Pebble Beach, Lone Cypress and Spyglass. There are a couple of real Meccas of golf in the world and that’s one of them. We’ve got a chance to do the same thing in the Southern Hemisphere and that’s what we are hoping to do,” he says. “It’s probably not something that any sane person would do, so I’m doing it.” And with that, he is off to the next thing on his to-do list.

Sights of Elektrostal, Moscow region

2024 Author : Harold Hamphrey | [email protected] . Last modified: 2023-12-17 10:06

In the Moscow region there is a small cozy town Elektrostal. Its sights for the most part have no historical value due to the fact that the city has a relatively small history. But for a visiting tourist or city dweller, they will be of interest. There is something to see, where to go to have an exciting leisure time.

Today the population of the city is 158 thousand people. Until the beginning of the 20th century there were several small workers' settlements here. After the opening of the electrometallurgical and equipment factories, the place began to be called the natural boundary of Calm. The construction of the railway made this settlement accessible, and workers and families flocked here to earn money. In 1925, the station was named Elektrostal, and the rapid increase in population allowed the village to receive the status of a city.

attractions elektrostal photo

The founder of the city is a prominent Russian industrialist Nikolai Vtorov. It was he who opened the plant here, creating, in fact, a city-forming enterprise that is still operating. In Soviet times, it was a closed facility, and it was not easy to get to work here.

Today Elektrostal is a promising industrial city with a great future and a heroic past. It bears the proud name "City of Military and Labor Glory".

You can learn about the sights of Elektrostal with descriptions and photos here. There are places for walking, outdoor activities and cultural development.

sights of the electric steel of the Moscow region

Those who come to the city by train are met by a monument to the metallurgist. It was installed in November 2017 for the 100th anniversary of the Elektrostal plant. The attraction is made in the style of constructivism. The monument quickly won the love of the townspeople, because this city is supported by ordinary workers.

Elektrost altsy and the founding father of the plant, Nikolai Vtorov, are honored. In 2002, a monument was opened in honor of him, which became a landmark of the city of Elektrostal. The bronze sculpture is installed on the site where once stood a monument to the leader of the world proletariat, V. I. Lenin. Times change, characters change. Today, the plant, founded a century ago, is the largest in Russia. Vtorov himself, whose fortune was estimated at 60 million rubles in gold, according to Forbes magazine, was the owner of the largest capital at the beginning of the century. He was a banker, an industrialist, an entrepreneur, a man of action.

The monument was erected byinitiative of the townspeople who wished to perpetuate the monument to the great man.

One of the popular places for spending weekends and evenings among citizens and guests of the city is the Park of Culture and Leisure. Here you can ride attractions for children and adults, play slot machines, rollerblade or bike. The park is divided into two zones. Fans of unhurried walks in the fresh air make a promenade on the Quiet Alley, and those who prefer outdoor activities flock to the Entertainment Alley. The park has a summer stage, where concerts and cafes are regularly held.

Elektrostal attractions

Until 1999, there was no central museum among the attractions of Elektrostal in the Moscow Region. The expositions were exhibited in schools, the house of culture, in factory museums. The city was closed, so there was no large influx of tourists and visitors. The appearance of the historical and art museum made it possible for residents and guests of the city to learn a lot of useful information about their native land, the formation of the production process, and the difficult years of the war. The exposition consists of paintings by local artists, historical artifacts, household items, documents, books and much more. The collection is updated regularly. It also hosts outdoor exhibitions, which are always popular with the townspeople.

One of the main attractions of Elektrostal, the photo of which is available to almost every resident or visitor, is the Main Alley. On herpassers-by like to stroll along shady paths, townspeople rest by the fountain after a hard shift at the plant. Flower beds are the decoration of the alley. In 2006, a flower festival was held here for the first time, which has become traditional. Each enterprise of the city and private individuals give residents a real composition of fresh flowers, which pleases with bright colors all summer long. A riot of colors, aromas and a flight of fantasy reigns here. Walking through the park, you can see Snow White with a basket, a bright well, a multi-tiered cake made from fresh flowers, hearts of lovers or a fabulous house. It is almost impossible not to take a photo against the background of these compositions.

There is a cultural center in the city. It hosts performances by local creative teams and visiting stars, performances and circus performances.

In 1971, the ice palace "Crystal" was opened in the city. Almost immediately, a children's and youth hockey team was organized, which gained sports fame. This is the home sports arena for the Elektrostal hockey team. Matches of different levels are held on the ice.

There are sections for children who go in for hockey or figure skating. Citizens come here with their families to cheer for their favorite team or go ice skating.

Elektrostal is a city with a heroic past. During the war years, more than 12 thousand citizens came to the recruiting station and went to the front to defend their homeland. Almost 4 thousand of them did not return from the battle. To these heroesdedicated to the memorial complex with the inextinguishable Eternal Flame, opened in 1968

But the electricians took part in the war in Afghanistan and Chechnya. By decision of the city authorities, their memory is also immortalized in the memorial complex.

It has become a good tradition for newlyweds to lay flowers at this monument.

attractions of the city of Elektrostal

In 1999, a museum and exhibition complex was opened in the city, where, in addition to the exhibition hall, there are numerous circles for children, classes for young people, and a creative workshop. Various festivals, exhibitions, city holidays and other events are held within the walls and on the territory of the complex, which attract many spectators.

Elektrostal attractions

Listing the sights of Elektrostal, it is impossible not to mention the temples. There are several of them in the city: the church of St. John of Kronstadt, St. Andrew's Church, the hospital church of St. Panteleimon. Another new church is being built. In appearance, the temples look ancient, monumental, in the Novgorod style. But they were all built at the end of the 20th century.

Let there be no ancient artifacts among the sights of Elektrostal. But on the other hand, all of them are connected with the history of the city, with everyday work and military exploits of ordinary residents.

California yacht owner threatens to kill dock worker in vicious showdown, cali yacht owner threatens to kill dock worker drops pants for rude salute, 95 3/13/2024 8:09 am pt.

A California yacht owner's vicious beef with a dock worker has reached death-threat levels -- and their exchange was caught on camera and included a nude, and very rude, gesture!

Check out the clip ... it all unfolds when San Diego entrepreneur Ajay Thakore swings by the swanky Marriott Marquis Marina in his rare $4.5M Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht to pick up one of his employees -- but things boil over when dock worker Joseph Holt tells him he can't be there.

Thakore, the CEO of medical advertising firm Doctor Multimedia, flips out on Holt big time ... and starts spewing threats like, "I will kill you, you know I will kill you, I will kill."

And it doesn't stop there -- as Thakore's pulling out of the harbor, he drops trou to make a full frontal salute in Holt's direction. Stay classy, San Diego!

Holt's only retaliation was flipping the bird, and he later told CBS8 that was all he could do to keep his cool and avoid escalating the situation.

Holt says parts of the altercation were not captured on camera, and he adds ... Thakore not only threatened to kill him, but also claimed to have connections who could totally mess up his life.

Holt also says Thakore pulled out $100 bills and tossed them at him, even chucking some in the water.

BTW, Thakore's done some backpedaling since the ugly exchange -- he now says, "The interaction that occurred yesterday was regrettable. What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange."

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

FWIW ... One of Thakore’s employees claims the whole thing began because other dock workers blocked him from boarding the yacht.

Oh, and if that fancy Lambo yacht looks familiar -- it's the same one Chuck Liddell recently tumbled off just last month. Now it's famous AND infamous!
