SELDÉN ALUMINIUM POLES

give you fast and safe spinnaker handling. All the fittings have well-rounded edges to prevent personal injury and damage to equipment. The extrusions are lightweight and very durable, and are fitted with pole savers to shield the pole against damage from forestay and shrouds.

Composite end fittings are available for our Ø 48-Ø 96 poles. These fittings are normally used for end-for-end gybing but can be used for vertical pole stowage and dip gybing as well.

Our traditional aluminium fittings for dip gybing are available for the Ø 72-Ø 111 sections.

CARBON SPINNAKER POLES

Weight comparison – aluminium and carbon spinnaker poles (equal strength, aluminium spinnaker pole section 99/99, length 5150 mm, weight 16.9 kg., carbon spinnaker pole section 102/102, length 5150 mm, weight 9 kg., seldén quality.

We have developed our own computer controlled manufacturing method in which prepreg (pre-impregnated) tows are wound onto a mandrel (cylinder) prior to oven curing. This method enables us to exercise full control over every stage of the manufacturing process and guarantee products of consistently high quality. One of the big advantages of this Seldén production method is that it enables us to achieve sufficient durability in the areas subject to the greatest loads and wear.

IN ALL SIZES

Seldén carbon spinnaker poles are suitable for dinghies and for yachts up to 30 tonnes. The larger poles are tapered to optimise weight/strength requirements, and facilitate handling.

Yacht Spinnaker Poles & Bowsprits

Aluminium poles are available for our Ø 48mm-Ø 111mm parallel tubes.

Composite end fittings are generally used on poles up to 84mm Ø and aluminium end fittings are used on the larger aluminium poles. The fittings are available for end-for-end gybing, vertical pole stowage and dip pole gybing as well.

We are also in a position to provide carbon poles thanks to some stunning advanced technology from our friends at Seldén. They have developed a computer controlled manufacturing method in which prepreg (pre-impregnated) tows are wound onto a mandrel (cylinder) prior to oven curing. This method enables them to exercise full control over every stage of the manufacturing process and guarantee products of a consistently high quality. One of the big advantages of this production method is that it enables them to achieve sufficient durability in the areas subject to the greatest loads and wear. Carbon poles are available in Ø 47mm to 91mm in parallel tubes and 102mm - 158mm in tapered poles.

Allspars also have a great range of carbon and aluminium gennaker bowsprits to cover most applications. Using the PDF charts below will help select the correct Seldén solution or the more unique folding Trogear bowsprit as an alternative.

Spinnaker & Whisker Poles

Standard poles come silver anodised (only up to 5000mm) with piston ends to each end. However poles can be anodised either gold or black or painted.

Spiggot ends are available on poles of 80mm and over. Spiggots fit into bell castings which in turn can fit onto 32mm T track. Alternatively, they can be attached to the front of Isomat mast sections which already have extruded spinnaker pole track. The spiggots fit Sparcraft bell toggles only.

Trigger ends are available on all poles up to 100mm.On spinnaker poles of 100mm and over Harken ends are used. Trip lines and bridle wires are available as optional extras.

Whisker poles generally can be longer in the same tube size as compared to spinnaker poles. Lengths at the top of the sheet are guides for spinnaker pole lengths in various tube diameters.

Built Light & Tough

Specifically engineered to withstand the bending loads of the center point pick.

Sizes FCT100 – FCT300 (1” ID to 3” ID): Poles come standard with a center point pick – D rings lashed to the center of the pole eliminating the hassle of bridles.

Sizes FCT300 – FCT400 (typical boat size 37’ and larger): Poles can be built straight or with a single taper, usually used as dip-gybe poles, and come with a standard topping lift attachment at the outboard end fitting. We also manufacture larger custom carbon fiber spinnaker poles for boats 55’ and larger.

What You Get With Forte Spinnaker Poles

Standard finishes.

All of our carbon spinnaker poles come standard with a black epoxy finish showing the carbon weave pattern. This is a grippy surface, which is great for pole handling. The epoxy finish will chalk and fade in the sunlight if it’s stored on deck without a cover. This is not so much a structural problem, but the pole won’t look as good after a couple of years. We offer an optional 2-part polyurethane paint system on any of our poles. This can be had in either clear, which shows off the carbon nicely, or any color of your choosing.

Standard end fittings are either Forespar end fittings or Selden end fittings, depending on the pole size. Harken, Sparcraft, Ronstan, or any other end fittings can be installed upon request. Also, it’s usually possible to reuse your existing end fittings.

Trip lines for external trip style end fittings are typically tied together and run through the center point pick ring (when applicable). These can be run as two separate lines or with twing balls upon request.

Trip lines for trigger style end fittings (internal trip) exit through Harken sheaves on both ends of the pole for each end fitting. For example: a dip pole with one trigger end fitting on the outboard end will have a trip line exiting on the top of the pole approximately 18” from the outboard trigger end, and another trip line on the bottom of the pole 18” from the inboard end (near the mast). Poles with two trigger end fittings (one on each end) will have two trip line exits at each end of the pole. The top trip line will activate the end fitting at that end of the pole and the bottom trip line will activate the end fitting at the opposite end of the pole. This is our standard way of rigging the pole, just let us know if you prefer something different.
